Mitchell’s POV

When we arrived at the hospital, the man was quickly attended to while I paced around in the reception waiting for the doctor to come out of the ward.

Few minutes later, he came out and I hurried to meet him.

“How is he doing doctor?” I asked anxiously

“You don’t have to worry ma’am! It was just a minor injury and he’s perfectly fine now” the doctor said and I heaved a sigh of relief

“Thank you doctor” I said gently

My phone rang in my pocket, I took it out to check the caller and found out it was Chris.

“Hey beautiful! How are you doing?” he asked

“I’m fine handsome” I answered giggling

“You don’t sound like you are in the agency” he said

“Yeah, it’s lunch time. Unfortunately, I got into an accident on the way here and I had to bring someone to the hospital” I said sighing

“What?!! An accident? Where? Which hospital are you right now? Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?” he asked all at once

“Calm down okay? I’m fine, nothing happened to me. The guy my car almost ran over had few bruises and the doctor said he’s fine now” I explained

“Alright, I’m relieved. Did you say a guy? Wasn’t he looking before crossing?” he asked casually

“You are right! Now that I think about it, my driver was driving at a normal speed so how did the car almost hit him? Besides, he just suddenly popped out of nowhere” I said thoughtfully

“So you suspect him?” he asked seriously

“No, that’s not it! I guess I’m just overthinking things, I must be watching too many K-dramas lately” I said

“Okay then, take care of yourself”

“I will, bye” I ended the call and went into the ward to see the patient I brought

“How are you feeling now?” I asked sitting on a chair

“I’m fine now and it’s all thanks to you” he said with a smile

“No, it’s what I’m supposed to do anyway. Can we leave now? I have something important to attend to” I said standing up

“Sure! By the way, you look familiar” he said as if trying to remember something

“I look familiar? I’ve never even met you before so how….? Could you have seen me in a magazine?” I asked

“Yes, that must be it! What was your name again?” he asked trying to remember

“Mitchell! Mitchell Campbell” I answered

“Yes, Mitchell. Your name is beautiful just like you. I’m Ronald Edward, it’s nice to meet you” he said stretching his hand for an handshake

“My goodness!! You are Ronald Edward, the owner of ER company?” I gasped in shock

“Uhhm….yes” he answered simply

“Oh my goodness! The public has never seen your face but I got the privilege to see you like this. It’s my pleasure to meet you” I said returning the handshake

“Let’s leave now” he smiled and led the way

I can’t believe I met such an important figure like this, Chris will be so shocked when I tell him this.

“You didn’t bring a car right?” I asked when we got to the parking lot

“Yes, but you don’t have to worry. My guards are on the way already, I don’t want to make you inconvenient” he said

“You’re not making me inconvenient but since your guards are on the way, I will get going then” I said with a smile and got into my car

My company is already moving so fast and I think it will be finished very quickly than I expected.

Chris POV

Mr Williams told me that he was able to find an old friend of the Rodriguez but he’s not here presently. I will have to travel down to the UK to meet him and it has to be done discreetly and quickly.

I will have to travel to UK tomorrow since it’s afternoon already and besides, I have to book my flight first.

I got down from my car and went into the restaurant I’ve been visiting for some time now. Usually, I change restaurant most of the time but I like this place best.

“Good afternoon sir! What will you like to order?” Anna asked me politely with a gentle smile

I think the reason why I’ve been visiting this place frequently is because of her. She’s beautiful, polite and above all, is very pitiful.

“Just the usual dish” I said returning her smile

People in the restaurant have been gossiping about Anna and I, they suspect we are dating and I don’t think that’s their fault.

About two or three times, I’ve asked Anna to sit with me while eating to relieve her of the stress. She dropped the food on my table and wanted leaving but I stopped her and asked her to sit with me.

“Uhhm! The workers are already gossiping about us and you still want me to sit with you?” she asked calmly

“Whatever they say doesn’t matter. It’s a normal thing for people to gossip when they see the opposite s-x together. It will then depend on how you handle the situation. Just ignore them okay? I will try to reduce my frequent visit soon” I explained

“Okay” she answered sadly

“Why are you suddenly sad” I asked confusedly

“It’s nothing” she mumbled looking downward

“I know something is wrong Anna, do I really have to ask you a question three to four time before you honestly answer me?” I asked dropping my spoon out of frustration

“I’m sorry” she muttered and started crying

Oh my goodness! What is she doing? People will think I’m a bad guy for making a pretty girl cry. I sighed softly and stood up pulling her out of the restaurant to a quiet place.

“What is going on? Why are you crying?” I asked but she didn’t say anything, she just continued crying nonstop so I had to wait until she calmed down

“Will you tell me what’s wrong now?” I asked gently

“I….I…you said you will stop visiting frequently so I got a bit emotional, I’m sorry” she said

“Why did you get so emotional?” I asked again

“I’ve never felt this way in a long while. My family is no more so no one cares about me. I got carried away by your presence and nice attitude towards me, I completely forgot that it will have to come to an end someday” she explained

“Ohh…..I’m sorry about that. I was only thinking about myself, it was selfish of me. I’m really sorry” I apologized

“No, it’s okay! You were just being considerate, I’m the selfish one instead. I will return in,side now, sorry for bothering you” she said smiling softly and turned around

“I won’t stop frequenting this restaurant like I said earlier, I will keep you company for as long as I can. It’s just that I will be traveling tomorrow so I won’t be here for lunch but I promise to always come here after that okay?” I said holding her hand

“Thank you. I really need to get back now before my boss starts shouting” she said cutely and went back in

My heart was unexpectedly beating fast when I held her hand, what’s wrong with me? I even told her about my travel when I don’t plan to tell Mitchell anything about it. Something is definitely wrong with me.

My mind suddenly drifted to what Mitchell told me earlier. She said the guy suddenly popped out of nowhere and she was suspicious.

I wouldn’t be feeling suspicious if strange things weren’t happening around her lately. She has been attacked twice and I don’t want it to happen the third time because I feel like it won’t be so simple.

I should return to work first. When I get home, I will ask Mitchell about it and I will be able to decide if it’s suspicious or not.

*Evening*

“Sweetheart, how was work today?” Mitchell hugged me as soon as I got to our room like she had been expecting me

“Work was fine, did you miss me that much?” I teased

“Yeah, I missed you okay? I know you didn’t miss me since there are lot of beautiful ladies in Dad’s company” she said rolling her eyes

“Of course not, I missed you too” I said and my mind suddenly drifted to Anna

W..why am I thinking about her now? What is wrong with me today?

“Chris?” Mitchell called and I snapped out of my thoughts

“Why did you zone out completely? You looked like you were lost in thought” she said suspiciously

“I just remembered something now, sorry. So, what do you have for me?” I asked sed-ctively, changing the topic at the same time

“What do I have for you? Let me see” she answered licking her l-ips sed-ctively too

She pulled me closer and teased my mouth with her tongue before letting go of me.

“That’s what I have for you” she winked and sat on the bed

“It’s not fair” I mouthed

“What is not fair? Did something happen?” she asked pretending not to know what I was talking about

“It’s nothing, I want to take my bath now” I said and went into the bathroom

When I returned to the room, she tried talking to me but I ignored her completely. Two can sure play this game.

“What have I done now Chris? Why are you ignoring me?” she asked with a short sigh

“I’m not ignoring you, I just want to be alone. Goodnight” I mumbled and pulled the duvet over my head

“Okay, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have teased you like that, I won’t do it again” she apologized

“I’m really sorry Chris, you’re taking this too far” she complained

“How am I supposed to believe that you won’t do it again?” I asked pulling the duvet down

“I promise! I don’t fail my promises so I promise not to do it again” she assured

“Alright then! Can I k-ss you?” I asked slowly

“Why are you even asking? You are making our relationsh¡p awkward” she frowned

“I’m sorry, I will try to adapt to this new life soon” I said before pulling her in for a k-ss

After the passionate k-ss that lasted for a while, we slept off while holding each others hand.

As I dressed up the next morning, I felt bad about not telling Mitchell about my journey, most especially because I accidentally spilled it to Anna.

But Mr Williams asked me to be very discreet so no matter what happens, I can’t tell her anything until I return.

“Make sure you eat lunch early today and don’t eat too much so you don’t get fat okay? It won’t be good if the agency asks you to leave because of fat” I said to her when I was about leaving the room

“You’ve been acting strange since this morning, is something wrong? Are you going to somewhere?” she asked curiously

“No, I’m not! Work is a bit much so I will be extremely busy today and I might not get the chance to talk to you. Anyway, take care of yourself okay?”

“Okay….but why would Dad give you so many work to do knowing you are my husband? That’s unfair” she pouted

“I told him I will do it and after much pressure, he had no choice” I quickly said

“Fine then, make sure you come back in one piece” she said with a smile

“I’m leaving now, bye”

I drove speedily to the airport and arrived just in time so I could board my plane and I arrived there within few minutes.

I searched for the house address given to me by Mr Williams and found the house in no time.

“Good day sir! Is anyone home?” I said that for about four times before I began hearing footsteps and the door soon came open

“Who are you?” the old man asked fiercely

“I…I came here to inquire about the Rodriguez, you are Mr Ray right?” I asked smiling lightly but almost immediately, he shut the door to my face

What?!! What was that? I only asked him a question so why did he have to shut the door like that?

“Sir! Sir!! Please open this door, it’s really important” I kept banging the door until he finally opened it again

“Follow me” he said sternly and left while I heaved a sigh of relief

“Why do you want to know about the Rodriguez?” he asked

“Well, I kind of discovered some things and after much investigation, I heard you were close to them. I’m here to know more about them” I said nervously

“Well, it’s fine! If you were an enemy, you wouldn’t be here talking to me casually. But if you were able to find me, the enemies have found me too and my life isn’t safe anymore. Within five minutes, my life might just end because those people aren’t human.

The Eduardos are completely different from…” he was saying when a gunshot suddenly hit him on the head and he died on the s₱0t.

What’s happening? This is impossible right? I must be having a dream this time.
