The Trampled Rose (episode 4)
Temporary pleasure has broken many promising homes and relationsh¡ps. When you come face-to-face with any situation that would cause you to be unfaithful to your partner, rather than try to manage it, just do yourself a favour and flee. The more you condone a tempting situation, the less strength you would have to overcome it because your mind defense to resist it might be weakened. In Brandy’s case, it’s safe to say that she lacked self-control and power over her emotions. Before you say “I Do” to someone on the altar, you have to be prepared for trials in your marriage. How could Brandy woefully fail the very first trial and test her marriage with Tochi faced? It’s understandable that she felt lonely due to her husband’s absence but that in no way justifies her reason to sleep with his best friend. Brandy could do better but she lost it the very day she allowed her emotions get the best of her logic reasoning. Why was it so difficult for her to wait for her beloved husband who was far away in Canada working on a two year project that would make her life a better one than it already was?. The last time I checked, Tochi’s motivation to take the travel offer lied in his determination to earn more money and give his wife and unborn kids a befitting life where they could have anything they wanted and more. How can you payback such a selfless man by cheating on him with his best friend of 10 years? That is nowhere near being fair and the sad truth is that nothing can be hidden forever; not even Brandy and Marvin’s little secret. It’s just a matter of time before everything eventually comes to the open someday.
As Brandy laid on the bed sobbing, she tried to be as quiet as possible so as not to wake Mavin up from sleep. The fact that she defiled her matrimonial bed with her husband’s best friend was a lot for her mind to handle at that time. All she could do was shed tears as she folded her body on the bed. After about 30 minutes of crying, she managed to sleep off too.
At about 7pm in the evening, Brandy felt someone tap her gently and when she opened her eyes, it was Mavin. “Hey dear, I have to go now. I wanted to wake you up before leaving” he said, while still lying on the bed. “Ok” she replied in a sad tone. Mavin could feel the sadness in her voice so he tried to inquire what was wrong. “Are you ok? You sound as someone who has been crying” he said but she didn’t utter a word in response to him.
On seeing that Brandy was mute, Mavin moved closer to her and gently k-ssed her forehead. “I understand that you are hurting because of what we did. Trust me, I am hurting more because I just betrayed my best friend but that doesn’t dispute the fact that we just shared something beautiful. However, this can be our first and last time to do a thing like this. I am sorry if I took advantage of whatever situation you are going through due to your husband’s absence, it wasn’t my intention for anything to happen today when I left my house to this place. You are not to be blamed entirely, I also take the blame too because we are both adults. I will be leaving now” he said and got up from the bed.
While Mavin dressed up to leave, Brandy laid on the bed watching him. Her mind was messed up at that moment because it was occupied with too many thoughts. She thought about Tochi, while still thinking about the blissful moment she just shared with Mavin. It was a rollercoaster of thoughts in her mind but everything ceased when Mavin said his final “Goodbye”. As he walked out of the room, her heart dropped instantly. Tears clouded her eyes but she was waiting for him to completely leave the building before she burst into the tears that were piled up in her eyes. Shortly after the livingroom door closed, she began to wail bitterly.
The manner at which Brandy cried that evening is indescribable. For the first time in her life, she truly understood what undiluted guilt felt like. It was a terrible experience for her and the wailing carried on all night. On the other hand, Mavin began to feel the heat of the guilt when he drove out from Brandy’s house. It was on his way home that the reality of what they did dawned on him. “Oh No!! I have messed up big time. Mavin why? You could have just left that house after giving her the cake, why did you allow the devil to use you this way? Tochi doesn’t deserve this, I have messed up!” He said to himself as he drove home that evening. The reality of what they did was such a hærd pill for them to swallow indeed. Too bad they let their emotions get the best of their character and values. Too bad indeed!
That day marked the countdown of a big disaster. The following day, Brandy couldn’t go to church because she felt unworthy to be in the presence of God. She judged herself at any slight opportunity and cried too. The tears she shed in just 24 hours after the incident with Mavin was more than the tears she has shed all her lifetime combined. This is to show you the intensity of the guilt she was feeling.
However, for some strange reasons, beneath all that guilt was a little hunger for more experience with Mavin. This might sound confusing but it was sadly the case. Brandy still craved for more of his touch and affection because what they did that day was highly memorable. The way he touched her and made her feel like a woman was something Tochi haven’t been able to do perfectly well since they got married. It’s safe to say that Brandy had a piled up hunger for satisfaction even when Tochi was still very much around. She was a starved woman who had never reached the pinnacle of ecstacy all her life and there was Mavin, taking her to cloud nine in their very first intimate encounter. At this point, it’s no surprise if they repeat their immoral acts again.
Too bad Brandy wasn’t repentant and truly sorry for what she did to her husband because if she truly was, then she wouldn’t be thinking of Mavin at such critical times, when she was supposed to be seeking for ways to confess to her husband and apologize to receive his forgiveness. It’s safe to say that her marriage with Tochi was headed towards an inreconcilable stage which will leave her shattered if they eventually split up. At this point, all we can do is pray that she comes back to her senses before it’s too late; that’s only if it already wasn’t.
Few weeks passed after the incident but Brandy and Mavin were still feeling guilty about their actions. Whenever Tochi called either of them, they pretended as though nothing happened and just played along. Not for once did they give Tochi any clue of what they did. The clueless faithful man was still in Canada working extremely hærd for his wife who didn’t deserve him. Just when we felt Brandy would change her ways and not repeat her mistakes again, she failed woefully all over again.
After a month since the incident occurred, Brandy went to the bank to get some money Tochi sent to her. When she arrived, she went straight to the manager’s office and was welcomed very well. They all knew Brandy to be Tochi’s wife and respected her at the bank due to her husband’s high rank. Her visit was going smoothly till Mavin walked into the manager’s office and saw her sitting pretty. He kept things professional and acted accordingly. They exchanged formal greetings before he walked away after getting what he came to get in the manager’s office.
While Brandy was still seated talking to the manager, her phone beeped and it was a text message from Mavin. “You look beautiful today, I didn’t know you were coming” he wrote, “Thanks for the compliment, you look cute too” she replied. Few seconds later, another text came in from Mavin; “when will you be leaving?” he asked, “In about 20 minutes time” she replied, “can you go somewhere and wait for me? I will be getting off work in 40 minutes time and would like to see you” he wrote and she replied “Ok, where do you want me to go and wait for you?”. After about a minute later, he replied “drive to Rose Lake and wait for me there”.
Deep down in Brandy’s mind, she knew another tragedy was about to go down. She knew in her heart that she won’t be able to control herself when in an enclosed space with Mavin but there she was, accepting to go meet up with him at a lonely lake at around 6pm. Just as predicted, she left 20 minutes later and headed to the lake to wait for him.
By 6:38pm, Marvin arrived at the lake in his Range Rover and texted Brandy to come into his own car. She locked up her car and walked towards his car. When she got to it, he opened the door for her to get in. “You look beautiful” he said when she settled in, “Thank you” she replied with a faint smile on her face. Mavin looked at her for a second and smiled; “I knew I had to see you again immediately I set my eyes on you at the bank. I missed you so much” he confessed and Brandy blushed. “I missed you too but it’s been very tough these past weeks thinking of what we did and how wrong it is. I feel bad by just sitting here with you” she revealed in a low tone. Mavin looked into her eyes and moved his body closer to hers; “I know this doesn’t feel right but I want you over again. You set my soul on fire, I need you” he calmly said and planted a soft k-ss on her l-ips.
At that moment, Brandy’s defense was weaken by just listening to those words that came from Mavin’s mouth. She wanted him as well and craved for his gentle touch. They k-ssed passionately for a while till he began to unbutton her blouse. “Hold on, I think it’s best we go to the back seat” Brandy said and Mavin agreed. They went to the spacious back seat and continued from where they stopped. Mavin took her blouse off and touched her soft br-asts. The way Brandy felt at that moment was unexplainable. She cried out for more and he give her more. They made love in the back seat of the car that day and could hærdly breath afterwards. The entire windows of the car was foggy due to p-nting and gasping of breath. It was truly an experience for Brandy because she never experienced such randomness with her husband. When they were done making love, they cuddled and k-ssed for a little while before parting ways.
After that day, they became immune to the guilt and a journey of s€×ual escapades began. Mavin and Brandy officially became an item and made love almost every week. He visited her whenever they wanted each other and this carried on till the gateman started noticing something fishy but in order not to lose his job, he kept mute and minded his business.
For all the times Brandy called someone else’s name during love making, her beloved husband was still in Canada working extremely hærd each day without getting much sleep. Tochi was a ‘spec’ and had ladies hitting on him every now and then but he was disciplined and never gave in to any of them. He kept his body untouched for his wife and only focused on the project that was almost coming to an end. Just when we had imagined the worst outcome of this infidelity situation, something more drastic came knocking.
It happened that Brandy was two weeks late in getting her period. She hadn’t bled for over two weeks since her time was due. Being s€×ually active, she was bothered and decided to do a home pregnancy test. She bought few test kits while returning from work and was curious to see the results.
When Brandy arrived home that day, she went straight to the bathroom to test herself. Those seconds while waiting for the results were the most traumatizing seconds of her life. Finally, the test was done and she closed her eyes before revealing the result to herself.
“God please, let this result be Negative, I beg you” Brandy soberly said as she opened her eyes and alas! The result came out ‘Positive’.
