{ I Don’t Want You To Stop }

~ CALVIN’S HOME ~ GARDEN

A while later when there was no more tears left to shed, they both sat on the garden bench starring at the roses which was just blooming thanks to the sun.

“I..”

“I..”

They both said at the same time only to stop.

“You go first” Calvin suggested.

“Well I….what I was going to say is that I understand every thing now” she began slowly.

“Understand what?”

“Your sister sent me this video” she confessed showing him the video she had watched earlier.

“So they still had this video in hand” he murmured.

” They did” she replied.

“So what did you understand after watching this?” He asked.

“That you were suffering from that illness, a illness which doesn’t let you interact with the opposite s*x” she began.

“But miraculously you got cured by your mystery girl, the girl who we are all looking for” she added.

“She some how got you cured and it’s the reason why I can seat beside you right now with out you feeling suffocated or hurt” she continued which got him nodding in return.

“You should have told me sooner. Have always wondered why you kept searching for her but I never knew that it was because of this, if I had I would have work twice as hard to help you look for her”

“Am sorry, I don’t like talking about it and maybe that’s why I never let you and Lily in on the truth but now that you know, you must think me a fool right?” He asked and immediately she took hold of his hand.

“I don’t think that. What I think right now is that you are the most strongest man on earth, after every thing you’ve been through. You persevered and made it to where you are today, I never would have been able to do that, I really really admire you” she said pointedly while she gave him a smile which got his heart fluttering.

“I….I….”

“Which reminds me, how old are you exactly cause I never asked that”

“Well am twenty five ” he told her while she let out a slow smile.

“Older than me with seven years. My mom might think of it as being too old” she whispered the last part as a joke.

“And you? Do you think of me as being old?” He asked as she stared at him.

“What I think doesn’t matter, it’s what your mystery girl thinks that matters which is why am going to devote my time into searching for her. I will help you find her, I promise” She vowed softly and Calvin couldn’t resist a smile.

“What about school? You aren’t meant to be back at this time and also who gave you this? From what I know you never had one.” He enquired starring at her phone.

“Well I…..I left school after watching the video and the phone was a gift from Jenny, Eric sister” she added while he raise his brow In surprise but Beth didn’t notice that cause she kept talking.

“All I had in mind was to come to you, to comfort you and to…..” She stopped when she realized what she was saying.

“And to what?” Calvin prompted.

“To nothing, forget I said that and remember Lily and I will be coming to see you tonight!” She rushed out even as she ran off while Calvin watched her go with a wistful smile on his face.

Beth got to the maid quarters only to see her mom waiting by the door way.

“Hello mom” she greeted nervously.

“Why are you home early?” Her mother asked in return.

“Uh…school closed early today and…..”

“Lies! I saw you come in a while ago and I saw you at the garden with the boss, you left school just to come be with him right?” She asked guessing correctly.

“Mom, there’s a perfect explanation for…..”

“The only explanation there is that you are madly in love with him that you can’t see right from wrong. How many times do I have to tell you that he’s not some one from our social class? He will never look your way because we are poor”

“I know you are still traumatized by what dad did but not every one is as callous as he is” Beth defended.

“I can’t believe you still defend him after every thing I went through to separate you two” her mother muttered but Beth had heard the last part.

“What did you do to separate us?” She asked.

“I spoke to him, I told him about your feelings for him and that he should end whatever relationship you guys had before hurting you more”

“And?” Beth prompted her mom.

“And he did do some thing. That day at the gym, he didn’t say those mean things to you because he meant it, he did it to hurt you, to keep you away from him and that’s because he wanted to get rid of the feelings you have for him!” Her mom yelled in return.

“So wake up girl! You’ve got to see that your love means nothing to him, If he’s willing to make you hate him just to end what ever feeling you have for him then he’s going to do more which will cause you so much heartbreak and that’s what I don’t want. I don’t want you to end up like me, so please stay away from him” her mother said even as she hugged Beth tightly.

Beth who was shocked by the revelation just stood still in her mom arms.

Those hurtful things he told her at the gym was solely to make her hate him and also to get rid of her feelings, feelings which was a bother to him, feelings which he will never reciprocate to, She thought sadly even as she held in the tears that threatened to spill.

~THREE DAYS LATER ~

Calvin was waiting at the entrance as usual.

He had his bags ready for the school trip which was taking place today.

The gate opened and he looked up eagerly only to see Lily coming out with her things.

“Good morning Calvin” Lily greeted with enthusiasm.

“Morning. What about Beth?”

“She left already, didn’t she tell you?” Lily asked.

“No ” Calvin replied wondering why Beth have been avoiding him since the past three days.

The last time he spoke to her was at the garden and though she had promised to return with Lily to talk about their search, she never came which got him wondering why.

And it got worse when she began ignoring him and she’s been doing it for the past three days.

He will make sure he gets to have a word with her today.

“About the search, I plan on….” Lily words trail off as they got into the car which took them to school.

~ WILMER HIGH ~

The car which had Jenny and Eric stopped in front of Wilmer high.

Eric was about getting out of the car when he saw Beth going into the school and instead of getting off, he sat watching her with a smile on his face.

“Until when will you keep watching her from behind?” Jenny question threw him off guard.

“What do you mean?” He asked.

“I know you like Beth, have noticed it ever since the day you left school with her instead of me” Jenny replied.

“Is it that obvious?” Eric asked shyly.

“Very. It’s just too bad that Beth doesn’t notice it and you should tell her about your feelings before some one steals her away from you” Jenny advice.

” I feel that if I tell her, I might lose the little friendship I have with her” he confess.

“Do you need my help?” Jenny asked slowly.

“How do you plan on helping?”

“Just leave it to me. I gonna help you win the girl you love, common let’s go meet her” Jenny replied as she got out of the car while Eric followed.

Beth walk into the school premises feeling tired.

Waking up early just to leave home before Calvin gets out have been taking a toll on her.

After her conversation with her mom, she’s been doing her best to keep her distance and it’s been weighing on her,she thought as she wipe her sleepy eyes.

Just then her bag from pulled from her arm and she look up in shock only to see Eric.

“Good morning Beth” Jenny greeted as they made their way to the others who were gathered around their bus.

“Morning, I can carry that myself” she said turning to Eric who was already walking off with their bags in hand.

“Just let him do it. He likes being a gentlemen to girls” Jenny told her.

“Oh really? I never knew” she replied.

“There’s so much you don’t know about my brother” Jenny said sweetly.

“That’s because Eric and I aren’t that close. I tend to know things about my closest friends but since we aren’t close then …..” She let the remaining sentence trail off.

“So you are saying that if you and Eric are close you will try to know things about him” Jenny asked in excitement.

“I didn’t mean…..” Beth stop her protest when Jenny ran off to tell Eric what she said.

A while later while other students were talking amongst them selves, waiting for the bus to arrive.

Beth stood with Jenny chatting while Eric talked to Dexter who had joined them a while later.

“Am here” Lily said as she went to join Beth and Jenny.

“My! You look lovely. Mind if I take your pics?” Jenny asked Lily whose clothe interest her.

She was taking a picture of Lily who kept posing for her when she got an idea.

“Okay why don’t we all take a pic” Jenny suggested even as she went to pull Eric towards Beth.

“Dexter and Lily can join in” She added not wanting it to seem obvious.

Jenny took a picture or two before saying to Lily and Dexter.

“Why don’t we just let Beth and Eric take the picture alone?” She suggested and when Dexter and Lily move out of the picture, she took a picture of them both.

“You two look like strangers, move close to each other and smile. You are friends after all” Jenny suggested.

Beth stared at Eric only to find him starring at her.

“Sorry about Jenny. She tends to go over board some times but if we don’t do as she says, we might keep on posing until forever” he said before wrapping his arms around her, pulling her close to him.

Beth was startled at first but then she pose into the camera while hoping that it will end soon.

“Oh! Calvin” on hearing Dexter call, she turn in Eric arms only to see Calvin watching them with anger in his eyes.

“Don’t they look perfect?” Dexter murmured beside Lily who was assessing the whole situation.

“Whose perfect?” She asked in return.

“Eric and Beth of course” Dexter replied.

“I don’t think so and if am to take a guess, there’s going to be a fight ensuing between these soon” Lily pointed out referring to Calvin and Eric.

“Fight? What exactly are you talking about?” Dexter asked not getting the situation.

“Can’t you see the situation on ground?” Lily asked now giving him her full attention.

“Ground, What ground?” Dexter asked stomping his foot on the grassy floor.

“Urrrrgh! You are such a dummy!” Lily half yelled before walking off.

“Did she just call me a dummy? Get back here Lily!” He yelled running after her.

As soon as Beth got into the bus, the first thing she noticed was Calvin and seated beside him was Katrina who had a devilish smirk on her face.

“Over here, Beth” Lily waved at her and quickly she went to seat next to her friend and seated in front of them was Jenny and Eric.

“I wonder what that witch is up to now?” Lily muttered as she stared at Katrina who was talking to Calvin.

“Calvin seems to be enjoying her company” Beth said sadly.

“Why have you been avoiding Calvin?” Lily asked suddenly.

“I haven’t been avoiding him” she replied.

“But you have, for three days. Is it because you are trying to get over him?” Lily whispered the last part to Beth who nodded in reply.

“It’s best that I get over him, it’s time I do” she replied starring at Calvin who was still seated at the front row.

“What are you up to now?” Calvin asked Katrina who sat watching him.

“What do you think am up to?” Katrina asked in return.

“If you don’t find some where else to seat then I will ” Calvin said wanting to get up but she pulled him back.

“Stop acting like we are strangers, we are still friends you know ” she said.

“We are no longer friends” Calvin corrected.

“To me we are and besides am planning on apologising to Beth” Katrina said suddenly.

“Why would you do that?” Calvin asked.

“Cause have been thinking and I realise that have been unfair to Beth and to you” she replied slowly.

“If this is one of your jokes then I suggest that you leave Beth alone and…..”

“I mean it, I will apologise to her and am doing it solely because of you” Katrina said cutting him off abruptly.

“Why is it because of me?” Calvin asked in return.

“It’s because I…..I think have fallen for you” Katrina confessed with a shy expression on her face leaving Calvin stunned by her reply.

“This is definitely one of your ploy to….” He stopped talking when she suddenly move towards him to give him a kiss on the lips.

Startling Calvin and also the other students in the bus most especially Beth who sat at the back row watching them.

~ TWO HOURS LATER~

“Put me down Calvin! Let me down!” Beth kept saying but Calvin was in no mood to listen.

He got to a secluded area and let her down, holding onto her hand so she wouldn’t escape.

“Why are you doing this?” She asked.

“You’ve been avoiding me, I want to know why and you are going to tell me ” he demanded tightening his hold on her wrist.

“Have told you that am not avoiding you, I just …..”

“The truth Beth!” He demanded again getting her angry.

“Fine then! I have been avoiding you and that’s because am doing my best to stop loving you” she confessed.

“What?”

“You heard me Calvin! It’s what you want right? That I get over my feelings for you and move on. It’s the reason why you told me those cruel things that day” She replied with tears glistening her eyes.

“My mom told me about the favour she asked of you and you did it to perfection cause you hurt me badly. You told me I was pitiful and annoying just to get me to stop loving you and you’ve succeeded cause I feel nothing for you, I no longer love you, so put your mind at rest and let me go! ” she said trying to pull her hand out of his even as tears kept streaming down her cheeks.

“Let me go! Let go of me Calvin!” She said desperately when he wouldn’t let go.

He did let go like she wanted but when she turned to leave, he pulled her by the waist and into his arms, cupping her cheeks while forcing her to stare at him.

The shocked Beth tried to pull away but he tightened his hold on her still cupping her cheek.

“What are you doing?” She said hoarsely.

“I don’t want you to stop” he murmured starring at her lips.

“You don’t want me to stop what?” The confused Beth asked again.

“I don’t want you to stop loving me, I don’t want you to” he said before taking her lips in his……
