👜Suzette’s POV👜

The bell finally rang for school dance dismissal and I sighed hurtfully. God knows what I’m going to face at home today because I know Amber is definitely going to tell her mother that I’m responsible for whatever happened to her.

“Why are you sighing heavily like that?”

I looked to my side and saw Kingsley looking at me. He looked.. calm like he cared and I’m wondering why right now.

“Are you ignoring me?” He asked.

“No, not at all.” I shook my head negatively.

“Then, answer my question.” He said.

What question did he ask again? Gracious Lord! I forgot. How am I gonna answer him now.

“Please, what question was that?” I dabbed my index fingers together nervously, regretting why I asked him that. What if he becomes rude to me again.

“I asked that Why are you sighing heavily?” He repeated the question calmly which wasn’t what I was expecting.

“Nothing. I just don’t want to go home.” I answered, looking at Amber and he followed my gaze.

“Tell me the truth Suzette, are you comfortable living with Amber and her parents?” He asked.

I stiffened a little before answering.

“Yes, I’m perfectly fine with them.” I faked a smile.

I’m not comfortable at all! I feel like running away but if u do, how will I regain my memory?

“Lying won’t solve anything,” He held my palms “Tell me everything and I’ll make sure you leave that house for a better place.”

I was about to talk when Lucas came.

“Hey Suzette, ready to go?” He asked.

Thank God he came just in time to save me from answering Kingsley’s question.

I nodded and arranged my books in my bag.

“How about we discuss about this tomorrow Kingsley?” I smiled at him.

“Sure.” He sighed and smiled back at me, for the very first time. His smile was damn cute. He should smile often.

Lucas stretched his hand for me to take. I hesitated for a second before taking it and we left the class.

I noticed Amber glaring daggers at me and I couldn’t help but feel disturbed. Oh God help me at home today.

Some of the girls darted scornful looks my way. Sheesh! Can’t someone have peace in school again? Is it my fault that he is being nice to me?

I ignored them and followed him outside.

💎Kingsley’s POV💎

I sighed and watched her go out with Lucas. I’m nit happy that he came and interrupted us but the way she smiled at me and called my name made me forget my anger.

Why do I suddenly miss her presence? What’s wrong with me?

I arranged my books in my bag and hung it over my shoulder, ready to leave but that bitçh came to block my way.

“What do you want this time Pearl?” I asked nonchalantly.

“Kingsley, why are you treating me like I don’t exist?” She asked coming closer to me.

“Stay back,” I warned her “I am not treating you like you don’t exist. You’ve been the one acting like I don’t exist at all. The wh0le class are included as well. I don’t know why you suddenly decided to come close to me but please stay away.”

I took my backpack and turned to leave but she held me back.

“Come on Kingsley, stop acting this way. Yeah, I’ve treated you wrongly in the past and I’m sorry. It wasn’t my fault.” She said and I scoffed.

“If it wasn’t your fault, then who’s fault was it? Mine?” I looked at her intently “Oh I see, you’re done selling your body to all the guys in school so now you’re bored with them and want me?”

She gasped.

Guess she wasn’t expecting that from me but I’m well aware of what people like her is capable of.

“No! I… I… I.. would never.” She stuttered.

“I know bitçhes like you Pearl. You can never change. Let me warn you, don’t put words in my mouth. I seldom talk but if you by any chance force me to, I might cut your heart to pieces with words.”

With that said, she became speechless and I didn’t hesitate to leave.

Suzette is much more better than them all.

🪔Amber’s POV🪔

My face got treated at the infirmary today. I will make sure I pay Kimberly back in her own coin. I swear to make her pay and as for that house rat, Suzette, continue hanging out with Lucas, mum will definitely be the one to punish you.

I saw Pearl discussing with Kingsley, the weird guy. I guess she’s trying to throw her shameless self at him.

Trevor and Noah were already gone and my stupid driver hasn’t shown up yet.

I walked out of the class and into the school compound. I saw that jerk with Suzette. He is trying to persuade her so he can drop her off but she refused, urging him to keep going.

She better not follow him else, her puishment will be more severe.

Lucas waved her goodbye and entered the car. He drove off and she stood there smiling like an idiot.

“Suzette!” I called and she turned, rushing to me immediately.

“Yes ma.” She turned to me and I slapped her instantly.

She held her cheek in shock and looked at me with glassy eyes. She was obviously not expecting that.

“That’s for sleeping around with almost all the guys in school.” I blurted out in irritation.

“You know that’s not true Amber.” She said.

“Did you just talk back at me?”

I raised my hand to slap her again but someone held it. I turned and saw the weirdo.

“I can see you have no conscience and remorse for human dignity at all.” He said.

“Let go of my hand weirdo.” I yelled, struggling to release my hand from his grip.

“You told me you were comfortable with them Suzette.” He said, ignoring my statement.

“I… I… I… am comfortable with them.” Suzette answered.

“What I saw now tells me the opposite.”

I managed to yank my hand away from him.

“Stay out of this punk. Stop interfering in our family life.” I snapped at him.

“I see. That’s why you want to kill her before her time right? Suzette, come with me.” He said.

“Dare to take a step. You know what mum can do.” I told her.

She stiffened.

“Don’t listen to her Suzette. Come with me, I’ll help you.” He said.

“If you hate your self so much, you can follow him. After all, mum is gentle with her punishment.” I retorted sarcastically.

“I’m sorry Kingsley, I can’t come with you.” She replied in tears.

The chauffeur that was to take me home drove in and came out to open the door for me.

“Get your ass over here fool.” I said.

He ran to me immediately.

“Yes ma’am.” He bowed.

I slapped him hærd across the face.

“Come pick me early next time.” I yelled at him and limped to the car.

“I’m sorry.” I heard Suzette whisper to Kingsley before entering the car with me.

Look at bruises all-over my body. Since I can’t touch Kimberly, I’ll transfer my aggression on Suzette instead and mum will help me.

Plus, I ain’t doing any lunch duty. Serving them food and washing the plates like a slave, Yuck! The thought alone makes me nauseous.

🌹Suzette’s POV🌹

I wept silently all through the drive. I had so many reasons to weep, Kingsley was nice to me today but fear made me embarrass him.

I couldn’t follow him. I just couldn’t else Amber will tell more lies about me.

The chauffeur drove us home and I didn’t know when tears found their way to my cheeks.

Amber alighted from the car and limped into the living room. I followed slowly.

“Mum!” I heard her yelling.

Madam Tasha rushed out and gasped on seeing her.

“What happened to you?” She asked, touching her with a deadly look on her face.

Amber burst into tears immediately.

“Mum,it was Suzette. She joined hands with Kimberly and they beat me up.” Amber said.

I opened my mouth wide. This was even more severe than I had imagined.

Why would she lie like this?

Madam Tasha turned to me.

“You did what!” She thundered angrily.

“I… I did nothing. I was never involved in the fight. It was only between her and Kimberly.” I said.

“Are you saying my daughter is a liar?”

She didn’t wait for me to answer and started beating me.

“I will make sure I do times 2 of what you did to my daughter.”

She ran to the kitchen and brought out a turning stick, using it to hit him. She was hitting me without mercy and I scre-med out in pains while Amber was laughing at me.

She kept hitting my knee bone and I could feel it dislocating.

“Please have mercy.” I wailed in pain.

I managed to slid away from her and limped to my room crying my heart’s out.

“Mum,dad, I hate you for leaving me here in this cruel world.”
