🌹 Chapter Thirty 🌹

~The best way to be okay is act to be okay~

“Do you really need to leave?” Maisy asked while helping Victoria to fold up her clothes.

“Of course sweetie. You know I need to go back to my life in New York.” She said in a calm voice.

“I know. But, you look so unwell to take a flight.” Maisy reasoned out.

Victoria let out a calm sigh. “I will be fine. Besides, it’s only a slight headache.”

“And body pains. Don’t you think we should go to the hospital?”

“Is this your way to stop me from leaving?” Maisy smiled sheepishly as if being figured out. “Come on, I will be fine.” She reassured. “And I also need to go to Julius…he must be worried sick about me.”

“Was he? He didn’t even give us a call to ask about you.” Maisy retorted, rolling her eyes in annoyance.

“He didn’t call you guys?” Victoria asked.

“Not even for once.”

“Are you sure you want to leave in this condition?” Her mother asked for the umpteenth time that day.

“Mom, it’s just a headache. You don’t need to get so worried about it. I will be fine.” She said for the umpteenth time that day.

Maisy brought out her bags and dropped it in the cab then came to meet them.

“Make sure to give us a call when you get home.”

She smiled. “Yes mom.” She turned to Maisy. “Take care of mom and dad and also take care of yourself, okay?”

“Yes sis.”

Victoria turned back to her mother again. “I have to go now.”

“Come here.” Her mother pulled her into a warm hug. “I don’t know what that monster put you through…but I want you to forget everything he did to you.” She drew back from Victoria to look at her in the eyes. “I want you to forget everything and live your life like you always do when you get to New York.” She said calmly, stroking Victoria’s face.

What if she can’t?

What if he’s memory is the only thing she could think of?

What if she misses him so f-cking much and wish he would come back to her?

What if her life can never remain the same again without rom-no being by her side?

What if she was already addicted to him, his smile, his voice, his laughter, his smirk, his arms, his warmth, his anger…?

What if she wish he was still holding hostage even when it means keeping her family worried about her?

Does that make her crazy?

Love can be crazy sometimes…

Tears spilled out to her cheek. She wants him back.

Damn, why did he have to leave her like this?

She thought they were getting along pretty well so why did he disappear from her life after making her fall hopeless in love with him?

Why did he want her to forget about him and all the things they’ve done together when it was actually the most happiest moment of her life!?

Will she ever be okay?

Will she ever be able to move on from him?

Her mother engulfed her into another hug again as she saw her crying _she must have taken as tears as something else_

“That bastard. That monster.” Her mother cursed.

If only she knew…

If only she knew the main cause of her sadness.

~FLASHBACK~

*Do you love him?* Her father asked.

*Maybe.* She whispered, looking down at her feet.

*Oh my poor child.” He pulled her into his arms. *This is all my fault. I’m so sorry for_*

*Father, don’t be. In fact I’m very grateful to for making me cross path with him in the first place.* She smiled. *It was foolish of me to fall in love with him but I have no regret. I love rom-no so much…* She cried.

*It’s alright, baby. Stop crying now.*

*But understand, daddy…why did he leave? Why did he just walk out of my life like that?* She sobbed.

*I don’t know, dear. But maybe it thought he was doing the right thing for you. Maybe he wants you to be happy and bringing you back to your life seem to be the only thing he could think of.* He stroke her hair gently. *But, have you ever ask yourself whether he loves you too?*

~END OF FLASHBACK~

“I should get going now, mom.” She smiled at them, wiping off her tears.

“Alright, sweetie.” she hugged her mother once again and hugged Maisy as well before entering the cab. She waved at her mother and sister until the cab drove off.

Victoria gaze never left the club. Although she tried looking away but she just couldn’t.

The memory were still there. They were still fresh…

She was hurting. She was in pain. This was just too much for her to bear alone.

Was he feeling okay wherever he was? Does he regret disappearing from her life? If he was given another chance would he still choose to leave her?

She miss him so much.

All she wanted was happiness and perfection.

Her parents’ marriage weren’t perfect. Their lives weren’t perfect and maybe… just maybe that’s one reason why she wanted hers to be perfect.

She doesn’t want a gambling husband who will make life difficult for her and her kids…

Just doesn’t want a poor life where it will be difficult to feed or train her child to school…

She just wanted something good. Good for her and her unborn kids.

Something just…perfect.

But she seem to have forgotten one thing… too much perfections causes imperfections.

She wasn’t afraid anymore. She wasn’t afraid of failing or losing. She wasn’t afraid of imperfection…she just want to be happy. Happy with the man she loves.

Was that too much of her to ask?

Victoria let out a breath and wiped the tears stain off her face. “Drive me to the airport, sir.” She said.

“Yes ma’am.” He started the car and drove off.

Victoria stared back at the club, hoping to see him again, even if it will be for the last time.

But slowly as the cab drove away, the club faded away…will he also fade out of her memory? Will she ever be able to forget him?

Victoria gaze fell on the ring around her finger…maybe it’s best she make things right. She might regret this silly decision of hers, she might hurt Julius but this was for the best.

“Ah, it’s good to be home.” She breaths out, falling into the couch.

“It’s good to have you back, sweetheart. How is everything and how come did I not hear from you for like…a year?” Her friend in New York, Esther said.

Victoria rolled her eyes. “It’s for two months and not a year, Esther.”

“Is there any different from two months and a year?” She questioned.

Victoria laugh, shaking her head. “Very funny.” She sighed. “So how have things been for you and your boyfriend?” She winked.

“Fine.” Esther smiled. “But I think I should be the one asking you that.”

“What do you mean?”

“You look different right now. I mean, you seem strange, and i must say I love this new look.”

“Nothing changed with me, Esther. What do you even mean?”

“You know what i mean, sweetie. And why does it feel like you’ve added weight.” She narrowed her eyes at her.

“Now please don’t start. Are you trying to say I’m fat?”

“No. I’m trying to say you’ve hit a jackpot.”

“You haven’t still change.” Victoria laughs.

Esther stared at Victoria for a while. “You don’t look good. Stop acting to be okay when you are not, Victoria.”

“Well, I’m okay, Esther. Why would you even think I’m not.” She scoffed.

“Your eyes says so. You don’t look happy.” She reached out for her hand and held it in between hers. “Is this about Julius? Listen, I know what he did was wrong but you_”

“Wait, what do you mean?” Victoria asked.

“You don’t need to pretend to me, you know that right?”

Victoria pulled her hand from Esther’s. “No. Like seriously, I don’t understand. What are you saying?”

“Didn’t you and Julius break up?”

“Why will you even ask that?” Victoria asked, confused.

“Julius is going out with another girl a week after you left for home. You… You Don’t know that?”

“What?”
