✍️ CHAPTER TITLE ✍️: DAMIEN IS NICE TO HER.

“Can I come to visit whenever I am missing you? Damien won’t stop me from coming,” Annabel pestered, showing her pitiful look to Vera.

“Please give it here,” Vera requested with a smile. Involuntarily, Annabel gave the phone that she had in her hand back to Vera.

Not aware of what Vera had in mind when the phone was pointed at her. Vera smiled as she did what was on her mind and when she was done, she gave the phone back to Annabel.

Annabel collected the phone with a curious mind, wanting to check what Vera had just done.

Vera strolled away from where she was standing. It feels like a dream but it’s never a dream. The secret she had been hiding and had been scared to reveal had come out without her doing much to bring it out.

The revelation even came with moments to cherish. She had felt embarrassed when Damien bumped into her dressed almost like a woman.

Her heart had tried dropping down on the ground earlier in the morning when Damien came suddenly. She had thought that she would be roasted alive by him whenever he found out, but he didn’t do anything of the sort.

One would have thought that he would scream and send her away immediately if she would not even be arrested for impersonating his household.

Damien discussed everything calmly with her and urged her gently to tell him the truth. After telling him he had promised to get back at her when he was back tonight.

Among every good thing that he said, the word ‘Us’ has been the one making Vera’s heart skip beats whenever she thinks about it.

Vera doesn’t know what Damien has to say concerning them, as he might have other thoughts, but she hoped that he would consider her love.

Not everyone would do what she did for love and it’s not many would be as fortunate as Damien, having someone who could sacrifice a lot just to keep them by their side.

It should be assumed that God wants to help Vera because her father would have found out a long time ago that she never went to England.

Her parents’ belief in her is the reason why they never doubted her when she suddenly requested to travel, even though she refused to leave when they wanted her to.

It is not easy hanging all the things that she should be responsible for on Andromeda’s neck, as that is stressful for her to bear.

Severally, Vera had blamed herself for making such a big decision while betraying her family’s trust. When it came that she needed to leave soon, she thought that everything was over.

She said a lot of words to herself for being a failure, without knowing that things may still turn out differently.

The sole purpose for coming here is to be with Damien, but after meeting with Annabel, Vera could not dispute the fact that her relationship with Annabel blossomed more than she would have thought.

Vera’s first meeting with Annabel was awful. Vera was jealous of the latter because she thought Annabel was Damien’s girlfriend.

Vera wished her evil severely because she was always sad to see that a special woman was in Damien’s life. Little did she know that it was the same lady she had wished evil that would help her later.

Damien had told her to continue to disguise until he came back and they spoke. But even though he said that Annabel refused for Vera to go down and participate in any housework.

It was because Annabel wanted to hide her identity, and that was why she didn’t refuse to continue the job earlier. Now that Damien knew about it, there was no reason to act as a butler anymore.

Setting aside the fact that Annabel is drawn to Vera after knowing the truth and because she’s kind to her, she has been a fan of the princesses since she was younger.

Following her mother to a store one day, the identical princesses arrive with the queen. Annabel was young but she recognized beauty when she saw one.

Admiring them from afar wasn’t enough, she ran to where they were also shopping. Hugging the both of them one after another without even asking them.

Mrs Stewart was calling out to her daughter, who ran to where the princesses were. “Don’t go around hugging people without asking them for permission,” the woman scolded, eyeing Annabel in a way that she quickly moved away from them.

“Say sorry to the princesses,” the woman commanded, her voice coming out soft, with her American accent giving her voice a good melody.

Young Annabel blinked her eyes shyly, realizing the fact that she allowed her love for the beautiful strangers to get into her that she misbehaved with them. She didn’t even know that they were both princesses.

“I’m sorry, princess,” she pleaded shyly, with her mouth fused as her mother held her hand in hers, wanting to leave the place right away.

“You’re so adorable,” one of the princesses said when they were about to leave, going closer to Annabel, a warm palm touched her hair, and then she gave her a nice smile before taking her hand away.

Annabel smiled happily, and as if the other princess agreed with what her twin sister said, she nodded her head at Annabel with a smile.

“Ma’am, your daughter is beautiful,” Vera was the one who spoke this time around, as her eyes admired Annabel’s cute face and the length of her hair, which was nice on her.

Afterwards, she went away with her mother after little familiarity with the princesses and since then, Annabel had gotten a big love for them.

The both of them are nice, and that was what won Annabel’s love for them.

“You took pictures of me!?” Annabel exclaimed, seeing what Vera had done when she took the phone from her.

“I know that we will meet soon, but it’s still best for me to take that,” Vera said, she went into the bathroom and came back later with water all over her face. It was like she splashed the water there.

“Humm….” Annabel hummed, trailing Vera’s steps until she came to have a sit, beside her on the bed while wiping her face with a clean towel.

“What was Damien like as a teenager? Were you born then?” Vera asked out of the blue, grabbing a pillow that she placed where she wanted on the bed, and slowly bent down till her head rested on it, ready to hear some revelation about her love.

*

“Slightly pointed nose,” he said, racking her head again to get some features of Crystal. It’s been years since they last met, and it surprised him to see that he could still remember little to something, about her appearance.

“She has a fierce oval face too,” he added, slightly angry with himself that he was able to remember it.

“Mister Caleb, it’s not possible to draw that out,” an accomplice of the artist complained, going over to what they were drawing and making a few changes to it.

This is the third parchment that they would use to draw Crystal out. The other two they’ve drawn before, Caleb would claim to remember something and it would be trashed.

“Sorry about that,” Caleb apologized, not happy to stress the artist who had been trying to hide his distaste towards everything going on.

“Just an oval face, not too big eyes, and a Diastema in between her teeth,” Caleb concluded, not sure if what he was saying was correct, but he believed they would get something out of it when he was done describing.

Caleb’s eyes trailed down to where Damien was sitting quietly like he wasn’t present. His legs crossed on each other, with one of her hands holding his jaw in his palm.

“Do you want to add anything?” Caleb asked him. It wasn’t that he didn’t know Damien would be upset with his question, but he still wanted to ask.

Damien’s hand dropped from his jaw, he looked at the drawing that was on the parchment placed on a board, and he knew that it could resemble Crystal once they were done with it.

But does he have anything to add? Had they drawn out her internal organs, Damien would have happily described how wickedness was running in them.

“I don’t have anything to add,” Damien said, confirming Caleb’s imagination to be right about him.

“What else is left here?” Damien asked, after which he stood up from where he was sitting. Going closer to the parchment and staring at it with cold and pained eyes.

The story would have been different if his family had done anything to offend Crystal and she gave them such a punishment for revenge.

Crystal was the one who crept into the family, and she sought revenge for no offense committed by them. She was too evil to realize that planning evil against others was a big sin.

“We would have to paint it, and make it look like a human, then it would be shown to you,” The artist being scared of Damien’s huge appearance behind him quickly replied, he had heard a lot about Damien’s cold act, and he never wants to be on the list of those who trespassed with him.

“Will it take hours? Can we stay back to get it?” Caleb asked politely, feeling the intimidation between Damien and the poor artist, and not happy about it.

The artist wanted to reply, but before he could say anything, Damien beat him to it and said, “We are not going to wait and get it. John needs it and he would be here to get it himself,”

Caleb didn’t argue with him over that, he let him do whatever he wanted, as he knew that Damien wouldn’t spare a matter related to Crystal any good time.

Paying the artist as expected, the both of them left the building, the one which no one would not know that something like that was taking place in there.

As Caleb promised, he handled everything at the company perfectly. With Caleb there, Damien only had little or no contribution to do over there.

Damien had kept his mind busy with thinking, and he allowed the best side of him to make a conclusion that would be good for him. Everything will be sorted out when he gets home.

He hopes that Vera disguised as he asked her to, would not want anyone to poke their nose in this matter. No journalist is in his mansion, but he can’t trust his workers not to sell such information out because of money if they somehow manage to know about it.

It isn’t Damien alone that would be talked about but Vera. If her sister told Caleb that she traveled to England, it means that she may not be aware of where she is presently.

If this somehow managed to get to that gullible journalist, they would write framed stories about it and this can cause a big problem for Vera. Damien can’t allow that to happen to the princess.

“Please check on Annabel for me, and tell Vera to meet me in my room,” Damien told to Caleb, as they climbed the long stairs.

Caleb knew Damien had something in his mind, that should be the reason why he sent him to check on Annabel instead of going by himself.

Caleb would do just that, but him requesting to meet the butler, what does Damien have in his mind to do?

“Be careful, Damien,” Caleb urged, his eyes begging Damien not to hurt the princess’s feelings, even when he felt that he wouldn’t.

Damien didn’t speak, he frequently nodded his head and from there he went to his room, while Caleb walked tiredly to Annabel’s room.

Getting to Annabel’s room he knocked, but she didn’t open it, when he entered the room, her presence was absent.

After all that has happened, it would be funny of him to think that Annabel would be in her room. She would be with the butler, spending quality time with her, as the butler would leave by tomorrow.

*

“I’ll be fine, go and have some rest,” Vera spoke to Annabel. With Annabel clinging to her body and acting like a baby, fear of what Damien’s decision would be made her want to go with Vera to see him.

Annabel believes that Damien would be in his right sense if Annabel is present, but after Caleb asks her not to go with the butler, she feels helpless.

Vera knew that Caleb must have been told about her identity, when he entered the room and met her in shorts, with a top that revealed her breasts.

He was surprised to see the butler this way, but he didn’t say anything else aside from delivering Damien’s message.

“Come with me,” Caleb detached Annabel’s arms from Vera’s body forcefully. Seeing Vera begging for her to leave, Annabel stubbornly went with Caleb, leaving Vera to stand alone in front of Damien’s door.

Vera contemplated for minutes after they left. Her hand shook whenever she tried to open the door, and her heart was racing faster than usual.

Clutching one of her hands-on to the suit that she wore, after dressing up like a man before coming with Caleb, as she feared any worker knowing the truth, Damien had begged her not to allow that happen.

Throwing her fear away, Vera twisted the doorknob and entered the room. Entering fully, and when she looked into the room, she didn’t see him anywhere.

Letting out a deep breath she was holding, and while doing that, he walked out of his closet like he was aware that she was waiting for him.

Damien appeared shirtless in the room, one hand holding a top which Vera guessed that he wanted to wear.

“Master Damien,” Vera finally said when he was standing a few steps away from her. Damien must have just finished having a nice shower, because of the water that was dripping from his hair, trailing down to his chest.

Vera could not help but wonder the reason why he didn’t dry his hair. And why being shirtless in her presence, he’s aware that she’s a woman at least and he should not stand like this around her.

“Are you scared of me? Come closer. It isn’t like you haven’t seen me without a shirt before,” Damien said casually, not bothering about wearing the shirt anymore.

Nervously, Vera moved closer to him, standing in his presence anxiously. The way Damien was staring at her made her nervous. Why was he looking at her like that?

“Maybe because I have seen you appearing as a woman, I’m not happy to see you dressed like this,” He expressed, and at the minute, his phone was ringing.

Damien ignored whoever was calling to focus on the butler, “Our conversation would not be about man to man, so can you at least remove the suit? I want you to appear as your gender before me,” he ordered, not sounding disrespectful, but instead in pleads.

Vera bit her lips, not understanding what Damien was up to, but she still removed the suit. As the suit was not on her anymore, Damien’s eyes stared down at her chest, catching the sight of her breast showing, although it wasn’t too obvious he was satisfied seeing her that way.

The person who was calling called back, and as earlier, Damien neglected it.

“Please sit on the bed,” Damien said, making her throat turn dried by the realization of him begging her to do something.

Vera didn’t go against him, right away she lifted her legs, and went ahead to sit on the bed as he wanted.

Dropping the suit on her lap, so that her hands would be free. Damien’s eyes trailed after her steps till she sat on the bed, with her facing him presently, his eyes caught another thing that he didn’t want on her face.

Not bothering to order her around again, he walked over to where she was sitting, crutching down in her presence, and that act of him made her shy. What was he about to do?

Damien didn’t say anything, instead his right hand raised to her face, pausing hesitantly and after controlling his mind, he pulled the mustache away from where she placed it.

Vera didn’t see that coming and didn’t know that was what he had in mind to do, so when Damien removed it, a safe sigh escaped her lips as she felt embarrassed for guessing something else.

“Now you are close to resembling whom I want to talk to,” he muttered, dropping his shirt somewhere close, he sat down beside her on the bed with his eyes on her.

With him staring at her earlier, Vera felt nervous. But now that he was sitting closer to her, she felt awkward. Clearing her throat from time to time without trying to look up at his face as she fixed those eyes on her feet.

“Is this the length of your hair, Vera?” Damien asked, his eyes have been roaming her body before they eventually set on her hair.

“No, master Damien,” Vera simply replied, her heart which kept on skipping beats didn’t let her think of calling him by his name.

Damien didn’t want her to refer to him as that, what happened to the time that she called him by his name in the morning?

“Show me the full length,” he requested, not being too concerned about the formality that she just gave him.

Vera pressed her lips together in a thin line before her hand went to ruffle her hair. She removed a band that was invisible earlier to Damien’s eyes and her hair came out well after she stretched it with her fingers.

Damien’s lips parted open, surprised at what she had just done. As she struggled with the hair while trying to stretch it with her fingers, Damien stood up and went to fetch his comb.

Returning to see her still busy with the hair, “Let me help you with it,” Damien offered and without waiting for her to approve his request, he started combing it gently.

Holding the side of her face in his hand while his other hand moved the comb on her hair.

Vera’s body grimaced at the touching of his soft palm on her face, not to speak of the fact that Damien was being nice to her.

“Did the thought of me having a loving affection towards you ever cross your mind, Princess?” Damien interacted, not finding it difficult to call her by the title, which he just realized in the morning.
