She couldn’t remember but she must have slipped off during the night, her head felt woozy and she opened her eyes to see the most kindest eyes in the universe staring right at her, holding her hands and muttering a prayer
Her mom!
No perhaps the drug was making her imagine things
” Erica, who did this to you! ”
She was about to reply when she felt a stinging slap delivered on her left cheek
Now this was the mother she knew so well
” crazy girl! Do you know the number of places I went to look for you yesterday night!! ”
” madam take it easy, the girl is just recovering, how can you even think of slapping her in her situation ”
One of the nurses reprimanded
Then she saw, Sasha and Tori seated opposite her
She took a look at their sympathetic and kind faces and the tears came, spiralling down her face in massive waves.
” Erica those girls will pay for doing this to you ”
Sasha swore as she saw Erica’s hands, her fingers were attached to different tubes
” it hurts.. Sasha … It… It hurts ”
The more she spoke, the more her tears flowed, convulsions racked through her slender body and even her mom was shocked, she had never seen her daughter looking so broken, so shattered like this, right from birth, Erica had always been wild, she had sustained wounds that were more painful than this so why these tears, something isn’t right
” sorry Erica, I know how you’re feeling but you’re going to get better ”
Tori said, she was forever the optimistic, a bright sunny smile was plastered on her face and she hopes to cheer Erica up
Her mother rested her hand on her back, murmuring tender words of comfort into her ears and Erica was shocked
” Vik…….Tor”
She repeated again, after writing the note, she was supposed to feel better, she wasn’t supposed to be feeling this despair
” I know you wish he is here, I’m going to call him and tell him that you were injured ”
” no… ”
Erica protested weakly
” don’t call him, he …did this to me ”
Her eyes went to her fingers and the trio gasped, Sasha and Tori found it hærd to believe and Erica’s mother simply wondered who the hell was Viktor.
” no I don’t believe that, it’s the drug that’s making you say the things you’re saying…..
Sasha started saying and Erica interrupted her
” no.. That’s why it hurts so much. … I’m not delusional, I wish I am delusional, I can sense Viktor’s presence just by inhaling his cologne, I smelled him ….i smelled him… It’s him…
Sasha didn’t know when tears slid down her own face, she cleaned her face with the handkerchief in her bag
Erica saw the tears on Sasha’s face, she didn’t understand how hurt Sasha had felt when that video had gone viral and Keith had broken things with her but now she does, in the most heartwrenching of ways.
She had loved him totally even when she had every reasons not to, he had said he had a surprise for her, a surprise…. She would never had imagined that this was the surprise he had for her..
This was too much for her to bear and she knew this was what Sasha was going through, no! It wasn’t fair at all, Keith and Sasha, those two are perfect for each other, as soon as she was discharged, she was going straight to the Merricks house and she was going to give Keith Merrick a piece of her mind
She didn’t say it out but she knew she was going to do it
Sasha found it hærd to believe that Viktor Peterson could have done this, if only she hadn’t seen the way he looks at Erica, like she was the only thing in the entire universe that matters to him, she remembers the warning she had given him
‘ although I don’t really like you Viktor, but I have to accept the fact that she does but if you hurt her in any way then I’ll personally make you cry’
If Viktor really did this, then she would make him cry, she would let him know the definition of pain
And there’s only one way to do that, she needs to go to the Peterson’s house
Don’t worry best friend, if Viktor Peterson really did this to you then I’ll make him hate himself and if he didn’t then I’ll do everything in my power to bring you guys back together
I understand how you feel Sasha, I didn’t know how hurt you felt but now I do and I’ll do every damn thing just to see that glow on your face, just to see your radiant smile, I’ll do everything to get you and Keith Merrick back together
They didn’t say it out loud but in their hearts, it was a vow between two best friends
Erica cleaned her tears, her mom had gone out to get water for her, the food she brought for her was still untouched, food was the last thing on her mind
She could feel that hatred, slowly curling it’s way into her heart but this time around she allowed it to, even if she couldn’t see Viktor Peterson, she wanted to hurt all those that had hurt her, all those that had brought tears to her and her friend’s faces
” Sasha please call the number Monica gave to you ”
” I don’t think it’s best if you call them I..
” call the freaking number!!!!
Sasha was taken aback by the dark gleam in Erica’s eyes and she hastily dialed the number, immediately it rings,
She places the phone to Erica’s ears
Erica heard the cool laughter and she knew instantly that it was Monica on the phone
” I knew you would call, tell me, how do you feel when you find out that your so called Romeo had only been fooling you for so long, how do you feel after he crushed not just your fingers but your heart, I’m not done with you and your friends, in fact I’ve just started, by the time I’m done with you, you would look for tears and you would find none ”
Monica said calmly and Erica sniffed soundlessly, she didn’t want Monica to know that her words had stung like a wh¡p, that it had brought tears to her face, it took a while before she answered, her voice was however void and without emotion
” since all this days, all what you’ve been seeing is Erica, but now, I’ll show you wickedness ah! Eeri ika… ”
” then I’ll show you that me too, Moni..ika ”
Monica said softly before ending the call
Mrs Peterson smiled in triumph as she watched Erica cry, she had never seen Viktor cry before but he did when she had shown him the note, she had comforted him just like the good mother that she was
” but mommy this is Erica’s handwriting, how can she write this dreadful thing to me, how can she say that she’ll rather kill me than kill a snake, no mom I need to see her… This isn’t true ”
Viktor had said he had tried to hide the tears but she had seen it anyway
” no Viktor, you did your best for her but sometimes some people aren’t worth our sacrifices, I’m afraid if you go and see her she would actually kill you so just wait for some time while I process your flight tickets and visa ”
She had said and Viktor had given in, he hadn’t even protested, he looked so sad and she was glad because he’ll finally be going to the UK and become a doctor like she had always wanted him to
Thanks to the mean girls she had used one stone to kill two birds
A message pops up on the screen of her phone and it was from her sister’s daughter, Emerald
‘ mummy, Erica just threatened us on the phone’
‘ I’ll deal with her ‘
She texted back, as long as Erica was in her hospital, then she would deal with her
She gestured to a nurse
” anytime you want to give drugs to the patient in ward 42, please inform me, I want to personally supervise it ”
” OK MA”
The nurse said politely before leaving
She would simply give the girl drugs that would weaken her immune system, and with every passing day, she would gradually rot away.
