Part 65 – Death

[Three Days Later]

The girls are at school today. Michaela and I decided to stay home.

She was watching TV when I asked to join her. I want to talk to her about Ayanda.

Me: Micky, I need to tell you something

Michaela: What is it? Are you pregnant?

Me: What? Why would you ask me that?

Michaela: Because I want you to be pregnant

Me: Why don’t you fall pregnant?

Michaela: (Giggles) I want…

Me: Just keep quiet. I just wanted to tell you that Ayanda is coming to SA and she’ll be staying with us. She’ll be here by tomorrow

Michaela: I already know

Me: You do?

Michaela: Yes

Me: Who told you?

Michaela: Warona

Me: But I didn’t tell her anything

Michaela: Yes but she overheard you speaking to someone on the phone. It looks like she likes Ayanda so out of excitement, she told me and Kate

Me: I see. Do you have any complaints?

Michaela: No Wame, I just wanted you to tell me yourself. I am happy that you told me

Me: She lost everything, she’s…

Michaela: You really don’t have to explain, babe. I know and understand everything

Me: You do?

Michaela: Yes

Me: Do you know that Ayanda lost everything because of her father? Her mother also…

Michaela: I know everything

Me: I didn’t tell Warona anything so how do you know?

Michaela: I was at Thabang’s place with Tumelo when Thabang told everyone everything

Me: Everyone?

Michaela: Keith, Marsha, Mpho, Alex, Tumelo and aunt Nina

Me: Oh

Michaela: Everyone deserves to be happy, Wame. Ayanda does not deserve to be alone and sad. She should stay with people. She doesn’t have anyone anymore so we should all be there for her

Me: Thank you for understanding

Michaela: I know the pain of losing a mother so I understand everything. Ayanda must be feeling so miserable every day of her life and that’s not right

Me: Does that mean you have forgotten about the past?

Michaela: (Laughs) Yes, I have. Honestly speaking, Ayanda never did anything wrong. She was just doing a good thing by siding with her father. You could’ve done the same thing if you were in her position. I could’ve also done the same thing. No child wants to hear bad things about his or her family members

Me: That’s true. You are right my dear. I am now relieved

Michaela: But why?

Me: I thought that you’d hate me for what I did

Michaela: I’d be selfish to hate you for doing something good. Wame, because of you today I am free. Today I am happy so I will never stop you from helping others because I know the taste of happiness. Everyone should taste happiness and eat it forever. Happiness should be an everyday meal

Me: (Smiles) You are now a grown up. Thank you for understanding

Michaela: (Smiles) Sure but please don’t forget about me once Ayanda gets here

Me: I won’t

Michaela: Do you promise?

Me: Yes, I promise

She hugged me.

Michaela: I love you, Wame Evans

Me: Wame Daniels

Michaela: (Giggles) It’s still the same

Me: (Smiles) Shut up

Alicia walked in with the girls and Austin.

Alicia: Hey ladies. Sorry for just barging in. Warona opened the gate for me

Warona and Kate hugged me and Michaela then went to their room. Austin also hugged us and sat down.

Me: It’s okay Alicia but how come you brought the girls home? Alex was supposed to bring them

Alicia: I went to school for Austin and met Alex there. He had an important call and asked me to bring the girls home. He had to rush somewhere

Me: Okay. Thanks for helping us

Alicia: It’s my pleasure

Michaela: Thank you, Alicia

Alicia: (Smiles) Sure

Michaela: But how did they agree to come home with you? They always give you a hærd time

Alicia: Not anymore. We made up. We are now okay

Me: Do you mean that?

Alicia: Yes, I do

Michaela: Sit down, why are you standing?

Alicia: I have to go dear. I have important work to do

Michaela: Okay dear

Alicia: Austin, let’s go

Austin: Sure sister

Me: Bye Austin

Austin: Bye, sister Wame and sister Michaela

Michaela: Bye Austin. We’ll see you on Thursday

Austin: Thursday?

Alicia: We’ll be celebrating Kate’s birthday, have you forgotten?

Austin: Oh, yes I forgot. Sorry

Michaela: (Smiles) It’s okay

Austin and Alicia left.

After approximately fifteen minutes, Warona came downstairs.

Warona: Sister, I am hungry

Me: I’ll get you something to eat. Sit down

Warona: Okay

Me: But where’s Kate?

Warona: She’s sleeping

Me: Without eating? But why?

Warona: She was very tired. We played a lot at school today

Me: You should also sleep

Warona: Where’s Austin?

Me: He left

Warona: Without saying goodbye? But why?

Me: You’ll see him tomorrow at school. His sister was in a rush

Michaela: Waro, do you now like Alicia?

Warona: Yes, I like sister Alicia because she’s Austin’s sister

Me: Did you just refer to her as sister?

Warona: Yes. From today I will call her sister Alicia. Please get me something to eat. I also want to sleep. I am tired

Me: Okay, Austin’s girlfriend

Warona: (Laughs) Sister, don’t call me that

I went to the kitchen.

I got a call from Alex and he told me that Joshua was stabbed to death in prison. I was really shocked.

Joshua Samuels is dead. This is the reason why Alex did not bring the girls home. Joshua Samuels is dead and I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not.

Part 66 – Death Two

When I arrived at prison, not only was Joshua dead but Thabo was also dead. Thabo committed suicide and apparently he left me a note.

The note reads “I am sorry, I know exactly how you felt when I forced myself on you. I’ve been going through what you went through almost everyday. I am really sorry for everything. Thabo.”

This means that the man I once paid to rape Thabo never stopped. He did it over and over again and I am not bothered. One day, all these bad people had to pay for what they did, not only to me but also to everyone who was involved.

Well, I appreciate Thabo’s apology but I am not bothered that he’s gone and gone forever.

I actually thought that Alex rushed to prison because he was feeling sad that Joshua is no more but it was a different story. Alex and Keith were over the moon and they said that they want nothing to do with the funeral. They just went to prison to make sure if what they heard is true.

[Outside The Premises]

I found Alex and Keith talking about Joshua’s death.

Alex: Keith, it’s finally over

Keith: You are right

Me: How is it over though?

Keith: Me and Alex lost Jane, Rita and Joseph lost Joshua so we are now equal. A death had to happen for us to forget about the past

These two brothers are crazy.

Alex: It’s now over

Keith: We can now live in peace

Me: How can you leave in peace when you know that something might happen to me because of Joseph and Rita?

Keith: Nothing will happen to you

Alex: Yes Wame, nothing will happen to you. We are sure that Joseph and Rita do not want to lose us

Keith: Exactly

Me: Us?

Keith: Me and Alex

Me: How sure are you?

Keith: We are their weakness. If they wanted something to happen, it could’ve happened a long time ago but nothing will happen. They know that you are Alex’s girlfriend so why would they want to hurt Alex by doing something to you?

Me: Are you sure nothing will happen to me?

Keith: Very sure

They are probably right. I remember the time when Alex stabbed Joseph. Joseph did not waste time, he asked the cops to release Alex. And I remember Alex once told me that after Jane’s death, Rita and Joseph could not cope so I think that I am safe.

Me: Okay, fine

Keith: I have to go now. I’ll see you tomorrow

Alex: Okay. Please drive safe

Keith: You too. Bye

Alex: Bye

Me: Bye, Keith

Keith: Bye Wame. Please greet Waro for me

Me: And please greet Marsha for me

Keith: (Smiles) Sure

He left.

Alex: We should also go

Me: We?

Alex: Yes. I am going to spend the night with you

Me: Where?

Alex: Your place

Me: Uhh…

Alex: Don’t worry about Waro. It’s not like she sleeps with you

Me: Cool. You should also take your bowl before she breaks it. She’s forever using it

Alex: Okay, no problem

Me: Don’t ever bring it to my place

Alex: Why? What’s wrong?

Me: Because of your bowl, I was asked if I don’t give you food

Alex: (Laughs) Who asked you that?

Me: Who else if not madam big mouth?

Alex: Do you give me food?

Me: What?

Alex: You never give me food

Me: Don’t start

Alex: I’ve been trying to impregnate you for so long but it is impossible

Me: (Laughs) Alex, shut up. I am not talking about that food. Let’s go

Alex: (Smiles) I’ll be right after you

Me: Okay, cool

We went to my place. Alex was driving behind me.

[The Next Day]

Ayanda finally arrived in SA. I was really happy to see her and everyone was really nice to her. Nobody talked about her father or her family members. I asked them not to say anything to her. She’s been through a lot. She doesn’t need to answer to anyone.

[Kate’s Big Day]

It’s finally Thursday and we all got to celebrate Kate’s birthday. It was really nice and she was so happy. She’s just like my little sister. When she’s happy, I am also happy.

Now we all can’t wait for aunt Nina’s wedding. Marsha is nine months pregnant, I hope that she won’t give birth on Saturday. We really want to enjoy the wedding to the fullest.

[Saturday – The Wedding Day]

Aunt Nina is finally getting married and I am so happy for her. She is like a mother to me and Warona so today I am over the moon. I truly love aunt Nina and I wish her nothing but the best in life. She’s not getting married to a man like Adam so I know that she’s going to be happy.
