Most people say that the mystery of the future is worth not knowing at all but sometimes having foresight for what’s to come can be very helpful especially in this situation we’re about to get into. The mission my team and I went to was supposed to be easy but what we didn’t realize was that we were walking into a trap.

Minutes ago, my team and I all piled up in Ade’s smooth car and thundered down the road with unbelievable speed; Lola who was the one behind the wheel smoothly handled the car pushing it to it’s limit. It was long before we reached our destination. In order to avoid been ripped off of Ade’s car, we decided to park it somewhere safe and as soon as we did, we began to trek straight to Dite’s place.

Everyone was already aware of the plan, since none of them had no idea what they’re getting into, I decided to take the lead and handle everything. Dite’s base of operations was an old warehouse which has lots of exits in case the police came popping by unexpectedly. Shortly after parking our ride, We arrived at Dite’s base and it was heavily guarded. Luckily for us, One of the guards recognized me and that gave us an easy entrance and as soon as we got in, we headed straight to Dite.

Dite was sitting in her office when we walked in on her, she was busy painting her toes with a black cortex and she sure did a great job. Sunday who had been eyeing Dite ever since we walked in smiled lustfully and judging from his reactions, it was obvious that he would try and toast her. Honestly, I couldn’t blame the poor guy for falling her Dite cause despite her petite structure, she was pretty hot. Dite didn’t look up until she was done painting all her toes and fortunately for us, she didn’t take long.

Sonny ➡ Ditie… Ditie… See as your fresh . Oti fine o.

Dite ➡ AH… BABA WONDER! Long time. Where have you been hiding?

Ifeanyi ➡ (whispering) Omo, this shrimp dey speak correct English o.

Ifeanyi ➡ (whispering) So you wan use am satisfy your conji. You dey craze.

Lola ➡ (whispering) Will you both shut the F up?

Dite ➡ So Sonny.. These friends of yours? Who are they?

Sunday ➡ (coughs) Ahem… My name na Sunday, nice to meet your acquaintance (winks)

Dite ➡ Nice to meet you too. You see anything you like?

Sunday ➡ Absolutely. Everything dey good for this side. I’m thinking of investing.

Dite ➡ (chuckles) I see.

Seeing Sunday and Dite flirt in front of us surprised everyone but Lola, she wasn’t just only surprised but she was annoyed that Sunday had placed the mission as his secondary priority and because of that, she decided to interfere.

Lola ➡ Sunday.. This isn’t the time and place. We have other matters to deal with. Sonny, let’s do what we came here to do and leave.

Sonny ➡ Chill okay. Dite, I get something wey I want me we discuss.
.

Dite ➡ (staring at Lola suspiciously) I’m listening.
.

Sonny ➡ Er.. The thing wey I wan discuss with you na about your…..
.

Dite ➡ I KNEW IT…

Sonny ➡ Excuse me?
.

Dite ➡ My instincts are never wrong. I knew there was a rat amongst you the moment you all showed up. Sonny, how could you?

Sonny ➡ Dite..
.

Dite ➡ Don’t even lie to me. This b-tch is a rat.
.

Ifeanyi ➡ Rat?
.

Lola ➡ She means *police*.
.

Sonny ➡ Dite, it’s not what you think.
.

Dite ➡ You’ve betrayed me Sonny. Of all people, I didn’t expect this from you.

Sonny ➡ Woman CHILL JARE!!! MAKE I EXPLAIN! Lola here is not a rat. Not anymore. She don commot for work. Now na normal persin she be.

Dite ➡ A rat is always a rat. Did you honestly think that I wouldn’t recognize you?

Lola ➡ Not really but Sonny is right. I’m no longer a detective.
.

Dite ➡ I don’t care. Rats are rats and I don’t like rats. Tell me Sonny? Are the rest of your friends also rats?

Ifeanyi ➡ I no be rat o. Na engine boy I be.

Sonny ➡ Dite, abeg chill. We’re not here to blow the whistle on you.

Dite ➡ What is it that you want?

Sonny ➡ Your drug *EDEN*. You need to…

Before I could finish what I was saying, a loud explosion went off and the sound of gun shots went off. Everyone in the room rushed out to see what was happening and immediately we got outside, we saw the unexpected that came in the form of the Executioners.

Sonny ➡ Executioners!? How?
.

Ifeanyi ➡ Oboi, this mission don toast o. Make we JAPA!
.

Sunday ➡ Wetin you talk? I no dey run from anybody.. Make I scatter this b-stards.
.

Lola ➡ No.. If you use your abilities here, this building will collapse on us. We need to spread out.
.

Sonny ➡ Oya now, make we hustle. Dite, come let’s get you somewhere safe.
.

Dite ➡ (silence)
.

Sonny ➡ Dite, Dite.. You no dey here me?
.

At first, I thought Dite ignored me because she was shocked by the unexpected intrusion but then as I looked at her face, I realized that she was in a trance-like state. In fact, Dite wasn’t the only one looking like she was hypnotized ; all of her employees were also in the same state as her. They all stood still without even flinching or saying anything.
In that same moment, someone or rather a lady wearing a mask emerged from the armed Executioners clapping her hands steadily. Every where was silent for a few seconds before the lady began to speak.

Monica ➡ Well, well, well.. What do we have here? Elites in a heart of heart of a drug house…. I always knew you freaks were nothing but criminals.

Sunday ➡ Na your papa be criminal. Street oshewo.
.

Dite ➡ (laughs maniacally ) CRIMINALS?? Who are you to define us wench!?
.

Sonny ➡ Dite??
.

Lola ➡ Does she always talk like that?
.

Ifeanyi ➡ Oboi.. Something dey wrong o.
.

Monica ➡ You freaks are about to face judgment in the hands of the Executioners!
.

Dite ➡ EXECUTIONERS!??!.. So you cockroaches are still alive?
.

Richard ➡ Sonny.. How does Dite know about this? I thought Elites are the only ones that supposed to know.
.

Sonny ➡ She’s not herself.. It’s like..
.

Lola ➡ Someone has possessed her.
.

In that moment, Dite snapped her fingers making her goons to bring out their guns. The Executioners too pointed their guns at Dite’s goon making it look like a clash between gangs. Despite having the Executioners detained, there was something that bothered me and that was Dite’s mysterious behaviour.

Richard ➡ Omo, na wetin we go do now?
.

Dite ➡ Isn’t it obvious? You join me, your own kind. They are our enemies.
.

Monica ➡ Detective Lola?.. Am I right?
.

Lola ➡ How do you know me?
.

Monica ➡ We executioners have eyes and ears everywhere. I know what these freaks did to your partner and I’m sorry for his demise but shouldn’t you be avenging him?
.

Lola ➡ What?
.

Monica ➡ Come on.. Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten already? Some of these freaks killed your partner in front of you and now you’re aligning with them. What would ken say if he saw you now working with these freaks. It’s not too late for you Lola, you can redeem yourself by joining us. Avenge Ken’s death.

It was pretty clear what this lady was trying to do, she was manipulating Lola to turn against us and I must say that she knows how to get into people’s heads. However, before Lola could make up her mind, Dite snapped her fingers ordering her goons to open fire.
Within a matter of seconds, the whole place had turned into a wild west massacre. Everyone was just busy shooting at each o ther, the Executioners who I thought had little fire power proved me wrong as they brought in drones that shot at us, even the guns they held didn’t fire bullets instead it fired powerful shock waves that sent Dite’s goons flying. Whilst this hostile commotion was going on, myself and the other scattered trying to escape. Ifeanyi and Richard stood fighting the Executioners cause unlike the rest of us, their bodies were bullet proof. For a while, the Executioners and Dite’s goon stood on equal ground but shortly afternoon, the Executioners gained the upper hand as they brought in a shockwave cannon. Within a blink of an eye, the cannon was fired and it gave out a loud boom laying waste to everything and everyone.
The shockwave didn’t kill us but it made our abilities cease temporarily giving the Executioners the chance to dominate us. Dite and her goons were knocked out cold making our chances of escape to be very slim. The lady representing the Executioners stood before us as we were being rounded up telling what the fate that awaited us but her words only made things worse.

Monica ➡ Science never fails. We have succeeded in making weapons that can render you powerless. We can’t make that permanent but it is enough for us. Now that you’re all here, you’re going to die. All of you will die except for the detective. She’s human and I’m sure you manipulated her using your abilities.

Lola ➡ They didn’t manipulate me. What you’re doing to them is wrong. You’re killing innocent souls.
.

Monica ➡ (laughs) Innocent?! My goodness, what lies did these freaks tell you? They’re not innocent, their existence is weed in the natural order. If they’re left unchecked, they will take over the world. They’re dangerous and they need to be eradicated. Apparently, we have reasons to believe that in the next couple of years 70% of the worlds population will be filled with freaks like them.

Lola ➡ And how do you plan on carrying out your mission?
.

Monica ➡ Oh, it’s already in motion (laughs) and when the dust clears, we’ll step in and clean up the mess.
.

Lola’s face gasped in shock as if she had realized something but before I could ask her, the unexpected occured. Suddenly, Prometheus’s power house Barau’uba smashed his way into our place and began to bulldoze anyone and anything on his path. Some of the Executioners who were closest to the big brute were squashed and dismantled. The female executioner managed to get out of harm’s way and instead of saving her comrades, she fled. Without hesitation, I chased and ran after her so as to catch and squeeze whatever valuable information she has about the Executioners. For a while, we kept running around the streets of Ajegunle unstop, the b-tch was very fast and she knew her way around. Despite that, I kept chasing the lady thinking that I would soon catch up with her but little did I realize that I was hastening the inevitable.
Suddenly after reaching an open space, the female executioner stopped and then faced me boldly. I stopped as well waiting to see what she would do next and then something happened. In that moment, 3 black jeeps appeared surrounding me and the female executioner. It wasn’t long before 8 armed Executioners stepped out of the jeeps and aimed their weapons at me.

Monica ➡ What’s the matter freak? Aren’t you going to use your abilities? I would like to see what you can do.
.

Sonny ➡ There’s no need.
.

Monica ➡ I hate it when the prey doesn’t fight back. Anyways, you’re done. Boys secure him.
.

Fighting was useless cause it’s 8 against 1, they have weapons and I don’t. It’s not a fair fight. Before the Executioners could put their hands on me, I quickly turned on the distress call on my watch for the others to know. Hopefully, I hope they get it before the Executioners find out what kind of watch I’m wearing.

The state of Minna might not be a crowded one but it sure has a lot of land mass and finding someone in this kind of place is an impossibility. Looking for Jennifer’s mystery guy felt like a waste of time but luckily for us, Jennifer knows where he usually hangs out.
It took us hours before we finally found the guy and to be honest, my expectations wasn’t met. The guy’s name is Garba and from the way Jennifer described him, I was expecting him to be some bad*** guy but all I could see before me is a wasted broke vagabond. As it turns out, the guy is an elite as well and he has the ability to find anything or anyone wherever they may be but in order to do that, he needs to channel his ability into some object that will point the direction.

Jennifer ➡ Garba, Garba.. Long time no see.
.

Garba ➡ Jee, jee,… See as you fine. Omo e don tay we wey don tango. Such good old times.
.

Jennifer ➡ You lustful dog. You no dey change at all. I see say life dey manage you.
.

Garba ➡ I dey o. You self dey look fresh and full. Na wetin dey sup na?
.

Jennifer ➡ You know nah,… The usual but before I put my matter for your head, make I introduce you to my friends.. This one na Felicia my main squeeze, Iwonbi and his wife, Isabelle.

Garba ➡ Omo, una welcome o. Make I go bring something for una. I dey come. (Leaves)
.

Felicia ➡ (silently) Did you seriously have s-x with this guy?
.

Jennifer ➡ (silently) Ehn, so? Garba is charming.
.

Felicia ➡ (silently) Urgh! I’m never kissing you again. Of all the men out there, you had to choose him.
.

Jennifer ➡ (silently) Na you sabi and besides I had needs and Garba definitely gave me a run for my money.
.

Felicia ➡ How did you meet this guy anyways?
.

Jennifer ➡ Oh we were once partners in crime. He would use his ability to tell me where the loot is and I would use mine to get them. It was fantastic.

Felicia ➡ Why are you guys now apart?
.

Jennifer ➡ Oh, we took a break and decided to move on.
.

Felicia ➡ Unbelievable. How good is he?
.

Jennifer ➡ Like.. Really good. His tongue is… Ohhhhh…
.

Isabelle ➡ Will you both focus on the mission? This isn’t the time to discuss about your desires.
.

Iwonbi ➡ When this is all over, we’ll have to persuade Ade to join us. We need him.
.

Jennifer ➡ Will you please stop talking about that guy?
.

Upon hearing Ade’s name, my mind went back to what happened 3 days ago at his house. I knew I shouldn’t have told him about my secret cause now he definitely hates me. I couldn’t help but wonder what he’s thinking of me right now. I just hope he hate for me doesn’t transfer to our son as well.
In that awkward moment, Garba returned with bottles of beverages which he shared to each of us. As the rest were busy drinking, I held mine in hand still thinking about my fallout with Ade.

Garba ➡ Ah-ah, this one is not drinking o. Is something wrong?

Jennifer ➡ She’s just thinking about her biff with her man.
.

Garba ➡ Lover’s tiff.. It happens all the time. I’m sure they’ll work it out.
.

Iwonbi ➡ I’m afraid they won’t.
.

Garba ➡ Why not? Did he cheat on her?
.

Felicia ➡ No.. I killed his parents.
.

A heavy silence befell the room in the instant. Garba fixed his shocking gaze at me whilst holding his beverage half way. He slowly dropped it down and then rubbed the back of his neck slowly while muttering the word “Bala’i”. It wasn’t long before he asked how it happened.

Garba ➡ How did this happen?
.

Jennifer ➡ I’m sure you’re aware of the Executioners.
.

Garba ➡ I know.
.

Jennifer ➡ Well, Her guy is an elite like us and his parents were Executioners.
.

Garba ➡ Hold on.. This doesn’t make sense. Executioners kill elites no matter who they are even if it’s their children.
.

Felicia ➡ Ade’s parents loved him despite what he is. He couldn’t kill him so they hid his abilities from the others. I didn’t know Ade at the time so I didn’t hesitate to eliminate his parents and when I found out he was an orphan because of me….
.

Garba ➡ This is… (Sighs)
.

Jennifer ➡ Garba, they deserved to die. You had no idea the lives they took. They killed kids. Innocent kids and because of what?
.

Garba ➡ To be honest, I don’t know what to say. This matter is a complicated one.
.

Felicia ➡ Is there a chance that he’ll ever forgive me?
.

Garba ➡ Honestly, I can’t give an answer but let’s face facts.. You killed his parents whom he loves and they loved him despite what he is.. This is something I highly doubt he’ll ever forgive. The best thing you could have done was keep a secret. I know you did what you did to get justice but he’s not going to see your own side of this. In his eyes, you’re a murderer and an enemy.

Iwonbi ➡ Enough of this talk. Jennifer, tell him why we’re here.
.

Jennifer wasted no time in telling Garba everything and as soon as he was done, he emptied his bottle of coke and dropped it on the ground then he rolled it like the way players of truth and dare do. After spinning around for nearly 8mins, the bottle stopped and pointed to the north. In that moment, Garba closed his eyes and touched the bottle telling us Prometheus’s location.

Garba ➡ That’s interesting.. Seems like your power mad friends are hiding in Bauchi.
.

Jennifer ➡ Those miserable bastards surely know how to hide. Thanks for the help Garba.

Garba ➡ You owe me o.
.

Jennifer ➡ Don’t worry, I know exactly how to repay you..
.

Garba ➡ Don’t keep me waiting for too long.

Felicia ➡ Ewww.

Jennifer ➡ Abeg shut up.
