Mrs. Kate is a plumpy black old woman. Her phonetics in queens English makes one wonder if she has a tongue at all. You can hærdly differentiate her voice from that of a bird, pitching like a Brazilian hummingbird. She’s the principal of Kenny High School.

She seated on her executive chair when Crucifix knocked and entered at once. That was his second time he found himself in the office. He could see the result vault behind the old woman. It was double a size of a wardrobe with small screen and keys at the center.

“Good morning, Mrs Kate.” Crucifix broke the silence.

The principal glanced at him and continued writing on a paper. “I hope your zip is closed, young man.” she said without looking at him.

Crucifix smiled. “It’s intact, ma’am.” he replied.

Mrs. Kate looked up at him. “What’s intact?”

“The zip, of course.”

She rolled her eyes with a deep exhalation then resumed writing, waiting for him to state his purpose. When she didn’t hear his voice she looked up at him again. “How can I help you, Crucifix?”

“It’s about the vault in the results.” he replied to see the woman staring at him. “Sorry, mean the results in the vault.” he added restlessly.

“Yes? What about them?”

“I want to see mine”

The principal rested on the back-rest of her seat while Crucifix intensively stared in her eyes. “Crucifix, you were admitted days ago. Apparently, you don’t have result here yet.” she said.

“Oh, is true!” he exclaimed. “I’m sorry, Mrs. Kate.

The woman leaned forward. “I’m beginning to believe the students who said that you have a problem, and from my analysis, it’s a mental problem.”

“Yes… no.. I mean..”

“Get the hell out of my office, young man.”

“Immediately, ma’am.” he left.

The principal couldn’t help but to exercise some minutes silence, thinking about the boy’s attitude.

No one knew if Crucifix’ got the code or not. He walked through the long passage like a boss until her met Jimmy once again. He stopped him and whispered into his ear. Jimmy smiled happily to walk away but Crucifix dragged him back like a criminal.

“What do you need the code for?” he whispered fiercely, glaring into his eyes.

“Get your hands off me, dude!” Jimmy hit off his hand. “It’s none of your business.” he adjusted his shirt. “And better be sure it’s the code.” he walked out while Crucifix watched him, hoping he doesn’t put him into trouble. He turned to proceed but saw eight students standing before him. Lucy was the nearest person to him while Margret could be found behind, operating her phone.

“We came to you to know how we gonna win the other team.” Lucy broke the silence.

Whoa! What was happening? Well, anything that was happening, Crucifix seemed delighted to have it happen, so he said, “Each of us will try to get five points each then we present them and select the best.”

“That sounds nice. We should have a WhatsApp group.” A male student suggested.

“I will create it. Everybody give me your number.” Margret volunteered. As they were clustering her, Crucifix remembered that he was actually living in a digital world. Yes, your thought is right; he didn’t have a cell phone!! Jeez! What would he tell Margret? Just before he came out from the hallucination, Margret’s voice interrupted him.

“Your number?” She had said.

Crucifix hit his front and back pocket like one who lost something.

“Are you looking for your cell phone or cell number which should be in your head?” Margret wondered.

“Uhmm.. yes.. no… ” He stammered once again.

“You don’t have a cell phone? You’re so pathetic?” She turned to leave.

“Margret” Crucifix held her back on her upper arm. She flung it away immediately. Yet Crucifix never hesitated to continue. “Do you believe in love at first sight?”

Margret didn’t reply.

“I still believe you’re the girl for me, Margret. You’re actually my love at first sight.” he concluded.

“For the second time, when?” she asked him.

“It’s been long. I can’t remember.”

“Okay, where?”

“At madam Mary’s Restaurant.”

Margret exhaled. “I’m sorry, I can’t date you. Moreover I don’t believe in love at first sight.” she turned to step out, yet Crucifix held her again.

“Why can’t you date..” he wanted to say but interrupted by Margret.

“Get your hands off me!!” she had shouted. Unluckily for Crucifix, Caleb saw them from a distant. He arrived with his friends angrily.

“Hey, dude, are you stalking my girlfriend?” he pushed him to the ground in a way Crucifix hit his buttocks on the floor. People around laughed while Margret watched from a corner.

Crucifix, tried to stand up like Undertaker, but three more boys jumped on him, beating the hell out of his eyes. Students gathered and cheered them up.

Oh no, Crucifix started the school for the day fine, but he was gonna go home with swollen face. What a pity. Why they didn’t get one if his teeth out was because of Emmanuel’s intervention.

However, Margret had walked out from the scene. On her way, she saw Rose and Alice standing at their lockers, but didn’t talk to them. Of course the girls had already disowned her from the friendsh¡p for joining Crucifix team.

Crucifix got home with one of his eyes swollen up. The pain alone generated headache. He met his grandfather outside. Both eyes caught each other’s but Geb hissed and averted his eyes from him. Nevertheless, with much embarrassment, he entered into his room, gathered all the money he should have used to register himself at Kenny High. He left the house. Where was he going to?

Later in the evening, he was found in,side Raina’s room were both seated side by side on the floor. In his hand was a new cell phone. To him, it was a new one but, dude, Crucifix bought a very old and broken Android.

Raina’s wore a purple bumshort and a top. Her attachment dangled around her neck exposing her beauty.

“You haven’t told me what happened to your face, Crucifix” She said.

“I was beaten…” he paused.

“Beaten?”

“Bitten by a snake.” he lied.

Raina chuckled. “You’re not a good liar.”

“We have a project; to find out why the mind is more important than the brain. I started it by saying that the mind is more important.” he put on the phone.

“How can you support such a thing? Of course the brain gives birth to the mind.” Raina opposed him.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” he began to open up a WhatsApp account. Suddenly, he felt Raina’s hand on his cheek. He looked up to see her staring r-mantically at him. As both eyes clicked, Raina’s hand gently rubbed around the swollen eye.

“Sorry” She whispered, bringing her l-ips closer on his. Just before it touched, her mother opened the door forcefully. Whoa! Thank God she didn’t notice the move!

“Raina, always keep your door open when a boy is in your room!” Mrs. Nelson warned from the entrance. “Door open!!” she repeated and widely opened the door before she left.

The two teenagers looked at each other and smiled. Raina wished she succeeded but Crucifix thanked God for the mother’s presence. What was Raina trying to get herself into? What a pity….
