Whisper episode 5

WHISPERS 🤫
Written by Kemmy B. Gabriel
🖤 Chapter Five 🖤
All four of us headed out to the woods, following the exact route I passed. I wore a grey mom shorts and white long sleeved turtleneck high low top and brown boots. I stuffed my bags with equipments needed, at least what I believed I need. Sage just filled her bag with snacks and drinks, she always do that. I have no idea what the others carried, but I’m sure Judith packed her wardrobe in there. The rest dressed in similar pattern, ripped jeans, sleeveless shirts and sneakers.
We stopped at a confusing junction, I wasn’t sure where I was turning to. “Where do we go to from here?” Sage asked puzzledly.
“I don’t know,” I looked around to see if I could remember where I was turning to. I shut my eyes and replayed the dream in my head, carefully looking at each junction I passed. “Is there any tree here with a single golden brown branch standing out among the other branches?”
“Hold on, let me check.” I opened my eyes and looked at the girls as they separated to find the tree. The place was awfully quiet, not even the sound of a cricket was heard.
“Found it!” Emy shouted. I ran over to her direction, indeed the tree was there. “This means we are not on a goose chase, come on.”
For the next three hours, we kept walking deeper into the forest, me using my dream as a map. We were tired and it was almost sunset. I leaned on a tree and sighed heavily, my legs felt like it was going to break. “That’s it, I’m sleeping here and continuing tomorrow.” Sage announced.
“Me too,” Emy said tiredly and fell back on the autumn leafed ground. Judith sniffed the air and smiled.
“We are close to the lake,”
“How do you know that? We have been walking for hours!” I shouted in exasperation.
“I can perceive the water and oak in the air,” we looked at her like she was insane. “remember how Victoria always knew where to find a brook, stream, river or lake whenever we went camping?”
“Yeah?”
“She taught me how to find them too. There is always this specific scent any water bodies give out, it is hærd to detect, but with concentration and knowing what you are looking for, you’ll find it. Also, the running of water always gives out a rippling or gurgling sound. How do you think animals always find water?”
“Wow,”
“The lake is close by, come on girls.” She waved at us to follow her and headed to the direction she knew.
“This better be worth it,” I murmured. I forced myself to move and followed her, my legs were almost numb. It took us up to six minutes before we saw what we were looking for, the oak tree of White Spring Lake.
“Yes! We found it!”
The lake was larger than I saw it in my dream, a small portion of land surrounding the tree. The tree was indeed beautiful and unlike any oak tree I had ever seen. The leaves weren’t just sapphire in colour, they literally were sapphires, like gemstone sapphire. The body of the tree was chestnut, but unlike any chestnut colour, it was glowing very brightly. The lake was white, as in snow-white lake, glistening under the reflection of the soon setting sun.
“It’s beautiful,” Emy gushed.
“Selfie guys, we gotta take pictures of our adventure,” Judith said excitedly. We all gathered, turning our backs against the tree and the lake and took three photos. Judith then saved the photos to Google, forward it to our emails and deleted it from her phone.
“Now, what do we do now?” I asked rhetorically.
“Remember that song Victoria sang for us during the period she was telling us tales from her grandmother?” Emy asked thoughtfully. “I can’t remember the lyrics…”
“Deep in,side the forest of eyes
A wonder you shall see…” Judith sang with eyes closed.
“Beauty to behold at last
The sapphire gem oak tree
The oak tree of White Spring Lake
The oak tree of memories
Of all that once stood before
The oak tree of nature’s heart.”
“That’s not all,” Emy said still in thought, “there’s another part.”
“Don’t look so far
No matter where you are
When you stand in front
Of the great oak tree
Look ahead, unto the leaves
The sunset light shines
On the lake from above
Tell me what you see
Do you see the magic?
Can you see the shimmer?
Can you see what I see?
Call out what you see
Read out what you think
And let the oak tree
Tell you what you need to do.” Sage sang the last part.
“The stories and songs are all connected, they are like directions on what to do.” Emy said with a wide beam.
“Look ahead, unto the leaves,” I recited. I looked at the leaves, the way it was flashing. “The sunlight shines on the lake from above…” I looked at the sunset light shining on the leaves, making it flash and reflect on the lake. The part of the lake it touched clear up, giving me a view of what is below.
“I see roots?” Sage said unsurely.
“No,” I peered closer and knelt down. I saw the floor of the lake, a seal. The seal had the image of a sea God holding a trident. His tail curled up to his back, his hair falling across his face and torso. I raised my head and looked at the sunset light again, they only reflected on two positions.
“Guys, look around and see how many s₱0ts the light shines on. Each of you, look into the s₱0t and tell me what you see.” I instructed.
“Alright,” Sage went to the light I could see while the others went afar. “I see a wolf, like an alpha wolf standing on a cliff.”
“Found one! Mine is three clouds with the faces of three beautiful women, blowing wind down to earth!” Judith shouted from her angle.
“I see a weird bird spreading it wings over an erupting volcano, it’s like the bird is absorbing the lava… Looks like a fire phoenix.”
“There is no other light,” Sage said as she walked back to me. “What could the four seal mean?”
“Have you ever seen Poseidon
Have you seen him with a tail?
See him holding the trident
With hair lock over his face
Admire the glory of his tail
Gold, white, blue and grey
You can only find him
Where the sea fins spin as may.” Judith sang one of the songs.
“Don’t dare the phoenix
Don’t touch it tail
It fears no flame
It seethe all scares
A heart of fire
Wings of the sun
Heat of a lava
See it and run
The phoenix I love
The phoenix I want
I wish I can see you
Where the sun k-sses
The maiden of the sun.” Sage sang.
“See the beauties in the clouds
Sing to the queen with a crown
The sky is nothing but her gown
The clouds the garment that flows down
Praise the maiden as white as snow
Dance to the sisters of ancient cold grounds.” That was me.
“His paws is big
His heart I k-ss
His eyes of gold
Makes souls run cold
A warrior of might
A son of the earth
A bark of power
The moon dog of all
Your coat is silk
A heaven I seek
One day you will find me
When the promised, is found.”
“Eventually, the songs gives us the location of all for seals. The water and fire seals have a direction, but the other two are much h-rder, especially the wolf.” Sage said with her hand on her forehead.
“Each seals stands for the four elements, wind, water, fire and earth, right Candy?” Emy asked. She had been saying a lot of smart things recently.
“Let’s start by looking for the water seal or any that we find first,” I said with a smile. “Let’s rest a little before we go home.”
“We can’t walk home at night, we don’t know what is in this woods, could be anything dangerous.” Judith said with a little panic.
“The next time we are coming here, I’m driving a motorcycle, the path isn’t that rough.” Sage said grouchily.
A blinding light sudden shone on us, I shielded my eyes with my hands, mo-ning in pain. The bright light disappeared as fast as it came. I dropped my hands and gasped, we were back at the garden.
“This shit is getting real,” Sage said with a sick smile.
“I think I need to sit down before I pass out,” Emy said queasily. She ran in,side immediately, Judith followed.
“You coming Ida?” Sage asked calmly. I smiled at her and nodded.
“I’ll catch up, help me drop this,” I removed my backpack and threw it to her. Sage caught it effortlessly and grinned. I turned back to look at the woods, everything still felt like a dream.
“Victoria, we have began, watch over us.” The wind blew on my face, she was there with us. I smiled, I felt safe knowing she was there, even though I couldn’t see her.
I was about to turn and head into the house when my eyes caught sight of a pair of gold eyes staring at me. I couldn’t see who owned the eyes, it was dark, but I knew they were staring at me. I wiped my eyes to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating, it wasn’t there anymore. With the way things were going, nothing was a joke anymore.
I turned and ran to the house. But as I was about to enter through the garden door, I heard a low animalistic growl, like a dog’s. I froze on my step, snapping my head back to the woods. I saw the eyes again, before it disappeared with a flash of movement. Then it came to me in a echo.
“One day you will find me
When the promised is found.”
I smiled and entered the house, understanding what the earth seal meant.

The girls and I walked into the school, we were talking about the new song my mentor sent to me. His name was Edward Blood, a very good songwriter and composer. His fiancée was a musician, they both helped me through when I first picked interest in songwriting. Every month they gave me a challenge, something new to work on. He sent me a song and the idea of what I needed to write down and the deadline for me to submit it.
“I can’t believe he really wants me to write an er*t*ca song, I don’t even know where to start.” I cried.
“It’s not that hærd, I sing dirty a lot of time, for example…”
“Shut up Sage!” Emy shouted sheepishly. I laughed at her red face and looked ahead.
“You don’t have to sing the dirty part, just write it and send it over to him,” Judith suggested.
“He wants a record of it, we have to sing and send it to him.” I said with a frown.
“Stop being a prude Candy,”
“You can’t blame me, my mother is a choirmaster and she literally wanted me to follow her footsteps. Do you know how many times she gave me the holy “talk”, even till now, I can’t k-ss a boy without remembering her stern look. That is why I haven’t dated a boy!” I whispered yelled.
“Well, she’s dead, and you certainly don’t have Victoria around to be preaching to us about keeping ourselves safe. That aside, it’s not like this is the first time you are singing such songs…”
“Singing is different from writing it, Edward, Bruno and Patron are usually the ones who writes them…. Wait, why am I getting agitated?” I asked puzzledly.
“I think the wh0le thing happening is starting to get to you,” Emy chuckled. I nodded in agreement.
“Lucky for you, I spent two hours checking online to see if I could find anything related to the riddle and I think I found one.” Judith announced enthusiastically. My heart skipped with joy.
“What did you find?”
“I f…” We stopped when two pink vomits came to my front. One was Steph, the trouble was here.
“Hello, can we help you?” Sage asked, stepping in front of me protectively.
“The girl, she’s coming with us.”
“Why?” Judith asked, glaring at them.
“She messed with me and anyone who messes with me, gets punished. Now step away from the girl before the rest of you get in trouble.” Steph said rudely. I smiled and stepped out.
“It’s okay guys, just follow me,” I looked around, the students were watching.
“Alright, lead the way.” They turned and led the way, we followed them quietly. The girls took us to a class, a beautiful class.
“Which of them is her?” A girl with pink hair dye asked as she looked at all of us. Her eyes were pink, her nails pink and even outfit. She had the tattoo of a pink flower on her left arm, and pink rose on her right forearm. Her wrists were decorated with bangles and fingers with rings, all pink. Unlike the others, she didn’t look like a pink vomit.
“The hobo,” Steph said jestingly. The girls tittered.
“So, you are the one who insulted one of my girls,” I assumed she was Pinky. She stood up and folded her arms, staring at me with disdain.
“I didn’t insult her, I ran into her boyfriend, apologised but she kept yelling, then I walked out on her, simple.” I said nonchalantly, shrugging to show how much I didn’t care.
“You don’t walk out of a worthy member of Pink Parade!” She yelled angrily, “what makes you think that you have the right to…” Judith started laughing, a sardonic laugh.
“Oh! Tori look at what you have turned me into, someone who gets yelled at by children, people I can buy their entire generations,” she shook her head and threw it back, “a wh0le me.”
“The insult is great,” Emy said with the same tone as Judith’s. “Do you know who we are?” She asked snarlingly.
“Do they even know what true powers mean?” Sage said mockingly. “Just because you dye your hair and move around with a set of frustrated futureless pink vomits, doesn’t mean you can just act like you know it all.”
“For your information, you look terrible and your dress is so last season,” Judith added.
“So says the girl that is dressed like a vampire bride,” Pinky scoffed. She walked closer to Judith who was smiling easily. “don’t ever look me in the eyes when you…” Judith shoved her fingers into her eyes, careful not to injure her with her nails.
Pinky scre-med in pain, staggering back as she continued to scre-m. The rest of her girls stood rigid, mouth open as they watched their leader scre-m, throwing herself everywhere.
“Rule number one, no one stares at me in the eyes and spit nonsense, I was a prom queen before you even wore your first dress, back off.” Judith said threateningly.
“We won’t warn you again, don’t interfere in our quiet lives here,” Sage added.
“You can go ahead and run to daddy for protection,” I sniggered. I turned and walked out. The other followed.
“That would be a problem,” Judith said guiltily. “I didn’t know what happened, my hands just moved on it own and did that.”
“It’s okay, back to what you were saying about what you found. What did you find?”
“I found out that a long time ago, there used to be a group of gypsies who used the magic to manipulate water to form their famous dance. They used to call themselves Sea fins, dancers of Poseidon. I saw their crest, Poseidon holding a trident with his tail touching his back and hair falling over his face.”
“But that was a long time ago, do they still exist?”
“No, but all their belongings are now in the restricted area of the town’s museum, no one is allowed in there except very important people,” Judith explained. We all turned to look at her, she froze and looked at us puzzledly. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Very important people,” I grinned, “or a very important daughter of someone…”
“No way, I am not using my family card as a way to get in.”
“But…”
“What stops them from finding out that I am a member of Vivid k-ss? Come up with another idea, Candy come up with something.”
The perfect idea crossed my mind. “You are right, we are members of Vivid k-ss, very important people,” they looked at me puzzledly. “Leave the pass to me.”
“Are you sure?” Emy asked poutingly.
“What are you planning?” Sage demanded.
“Okay, remember the director is still looking for the place to shoot our next music video, for our award winning song…”
“Chased by a ghost,”
“Yeah, I’ll call the owner of the museum and convince him that we want to check out the museum if it is right for the video. Then I’ll tell him that we would be coming ourselves but on disguise to check it out, that Victoria once mentioned…”
“Hey! Look out!” A ball hit Judith right in the face. She slumped on the floor and passed out.
“Lizzy!” We shouted in panic. Emy and I knelt down beside Judith while Sage stomped to the guy to yell at him.
“I am so sorry, I didn’t mean to. I was practicing how to throw the ball, I didn’t mean to…”
“Just help me carry her!” Sage yelled angrily. He hurried over to us and bent down, gently scooped Judith into his arms.
“I’m so sorry,” he apologised again. He kept apologising, even when we were at the infirmary. Sage had to angrily slam a tape on his mouth before he shut it. Judith woke up, the nurse discharged her with some drugs and stern warning to the guy.
“I’m still so sorry,” he apologised again.
“Will you stop apologising!” We all shouted.
“I didn’t mean to, I didn’t mean to…”
“Okay, do you apologise for a living?” Judith asked as she rubbed her bruised l-ips.
“S…”
“If you say sorry one more time, I will destroy you,” Emy warned, pointing her finger at his face.
“Sorry,” he continued with a laughing smile. Emy frowned, he was doing it on purpose.
“Annoying boy,”
“Awwwn, she’s so cute,” he cooed, ruffling her hair.
“Hey! Do you know how long it took me to nag Elizabeth into making this hair perfect! Don’t ever…” He ruffled her hair again. She flared, her face flushed red in anger. “I’ll destroy you!” She took off her shoes and made to hit him, but he ran away. She ran after him, yelling insults at him while he laughed.
“Did my face just get sacrificed for her to find love?” Judith asked with shock.
“Seems like so,” we flinched at who said that. I turned around and saw a girl with chocolate brown eyes and hair. She had a very happy grin on her face, a face filled with amusement.
“What the hell!” Judith exclaimed.
“Hi, I’m Coco, that fool is my older twin brother.”
“Coco, from…”
“Candy Crush,” she winked at Judith and giggled. “Sorry he hit you though.”
“It’s okay,”
“Sorry if it hurts.” She apologised again.
“Yup, definitely siblings,” Sage laughed.
“You’re so cute!” She squealed, pinching my cheeks. “Hey girls! Look at my new little sister!”
“Your what?” I asked quizzically.
“We’re going to be sisters best friends!” She grabbed my hand and pulled me along, squealing as she dragged me to her group of girls.
The rest of the day, I spent it under her captivity before she let me go but promised to resume the kidnapping the next day. I later got the manager of the museum’s number and called him, he easily accepted to the offer so we were booked to check it out the following day.

I looked around the forest of white trees I was. The grasses were bronze, the sky was covered up with mist, mist that stopped six feet to the ground. The place was too dark, but the trees and the grass glowed brightly.
“Hello! Anybody here?!” My voice echoed back to me and travelled far into the forest. “Victoria?! Is that you?!”
I heard her say something in a foreign language, her voice echoing in continuous whispers. Then I heard a growl, a powerful growl. I staggered back and looked around, only to meet the two pairs of golden eyes. Once again, I couldn’t see the body of the person, the mist covered it face and entirely body.
I looked into it eyes, my heart thumping very fast. For some reason, I wasn’t scared of those eyes, it made me feel at ease.
“Come out, I want to meet you,” I pleaded softly. The eyes retreated into the fog. Everything was silent until she came out, Victoria came out. I gasped as I gaped at her beautiful face. Her long white gown glowed like the moon, her hair flowed down her body like a brook, her eyes were as white as a faraway star.
“Victoria,” I gasped. She looked older than the teenager I knew, like she was in her late forties. “What happened to you?”
“This is the last age I stopped the last time I took a body, I was lucky enough to reach my forties.” Her voice echoed just like mine.
“Will you tell me what is going on? What is happening? What do you want us to find?”
“I’m afraid I cannot answer that, you must figure it out yourself. I’m afraid things have been tampered with, I cannot stop what is to come but I can help you all find what you need faster. In every riddle location, look for the glint that will show you what exactly you are looking for.”
“Alright, but can…” She appeared in front of me and placed her hands on my head.
“A body of fire
A body of the sun
A body of water,
Wind, the moon, lightning and stone
A form of metal
A skin of ash
Touch not my anointed
And do my prophet no harm.”
“What do y… Aaaah!” I scre-med, I scre-med louder, flying out of my bed. My head felt like it was on fire, my entirely system burnt like I was having a fever. I scre-med and scre-med, rolling allover the floor. The pain was unbearable, it felt like it would never stop.
“Get me water and a lot of white candles!” I heard Sage shout. “And a white dress, headwear and shoes!”
“Victoria said to place my hand on her forehead until you ready the things,” I heard Emy say before she placed her hands on my head. The pain reduced enough for me to stop moving, my breathing came out in heavy strangled rasp. I was sure I was sweating profusely.
After a while, it all calmed down and I fell into darkness.
