It was funny how I got home wearing the golden crown, with the ribbons around my neck, the twenty million naira cheque was secured firmly in my hands.
It was either that or death
Mom would have killed me if I had told her I forfeited the competition for a boy.
Although the gossips later got to her ears that I didn’t become the dream girl but all of that didn’t matter, I had the twenty million naira and that’s what really matters
A part of me would always be sad that I didn’t witness the competition and it was such a pity I couldn’t witness Monica’s drastic fall, I later heard she became paralyzed for life
I don’t know if it was karma or if it was coincidence because each of the mean girls seemed to have awful mishaps after the competition
But surprisingly everytime I try to feel bad, all it takes was seeing one of Viktor’s painting, especially the one he made of me, it was just.. Too beautiful. Then I would realize that it was worth it, risking it all for him.
He later got to know about his father, (Tori’s uncle) and his sister (Emerald) and his mother( Emerald’s mom) but what was actually very surprising is that Tori is actually Viktor’s cousin
Viktor wasn’t really glad to find out about the mother that had left him for years, heck! I didn’t even know what he had been feeling, he just stared at them blankly as if he was introduced to a bunch of total strangers.
With each passing day, my love for Viktor Peterson grew stronger and so did his.
We were termed ‘ the loveliest couple in school ‘
And as for the dream girl, Sasha Grey
All those that had mocked her, every single person that had called her a wh-re were now praising her and it only made everything perfect.

Being the dream girl was one of the most thrilling things that could ever happen
Everyone simply respects me, not just me, Tori, Erica and Shanaya
I hadn’t needed the money which was why I gave it to Erica

My image had been tainted in Keith’s eyes because of that indecent video
But we decided to create new memories
A lot of memories
Sometimes we would go on dates in one of the best restaurants, at times we simply went to amusement parks but what I really treasured was the moments I spent in his house, just the two of us, enjoying each others company and with each passing day, I could tell he was gradually forgetting about the past
And as we went to get our report cards
” wow Sasha I got straight A’s”
He said with a broad grin
I checked mine and it was so bad, it just wasn’t straight A’s
I smiled at him, intertwining my hands with his, he had seen me at my worst and I had the feeling that if that couldn’t tear us apart, then nothing could certainly do.

” Tori!!!!!!! This is the sixteenth boyfriend you’re dumping in two weeks ”
Erica yelled at Tori, or rather the new Tori, who looked even slimmer than her,
The girls hadn’t seen anyone that lost weight that much within a month
After the competition, the examination, it was the holidays, there was only one place left to go
And it was summer camp
Erica had never been to summer camp but judging from the enthusiastic grin on Sasha’s face, she was told it would be immensely fun and she certainly would not miss out
Tori too was coming, Keith and even Viktor who said he couldn’t bear it if anyone snatched his girlfriend at summer camp
It was Erica’s birthday eve and it was the first time she was having the girls over at her house, the next day was her birthday and the day after, they would be leaving for summer camp
It was just the four of them, sitting outside in the verandah and talking
” Tori!!!!, this is the sixteenth boyfriend you’re dumping in two weeks ”
Erica yelled and Tori just shrugged
” but I thought you said you love the last guy, um Andrew or what’s his name
Sasha said
” no after Andrew was Peter and after Peter was Tobi..
Tori replied listing a total of seven guys
” why do I have the feeling that it’s because of the attention you didn’t receive from guys that’s why you decided to break the heart of all the boys in school ”
Sasha said, her eyes glinting mischeviously
Tori was about to shrug.. To accept that Sasha was right, but it would have been a lie and if there’s one thing she had always valued in her friends , she had always valued honesty
” it’s because of you two, you and Erica ”
Tori said pointing a finger at Erica and Sasha
” us? But we’ve never stopped you from being with any guy you like!!!
Erica said and Sasha snorted
” I um.. What I mean is that when I look at Sasha and Keith, I can feel the depth of the love they have for each other, and when I look at you and Viktor, I just can’t believe it’s possible to love someone to that extent and I realize I want someone to love me like that, every guy I’ve ever dated.. Pales in comparison, at times I wonder if it’s only because I’m now slim that’s why they’re all flocking around me….
Sasha interrupted her by placing a warm hand on her shoulders
” of course you’ll find the guy that’s perfect for you..
Shanaya sat silently, ever since she had almost been killed, she had been moody, more withdrawn
She wouldn’t be going to summer camp with them
She brought out the piece of paper from her pocket, she had made up her mind last night while writing it and she handed the paper to them
DEAR GIRLS
As much as I would like to go to summer camp with you, I simply can not.
I would be going to India
I believe that my destiny awaits me there
And I would certainly miss you all
If you ever need me for anything, just sent me a text and I’ll text back

Tori, Erica and Sasha read the note and they hugged Shanaya, they would miss her
Even till this day, none of them could understand how Shanaya was spared from electrocution
It was.. Concluded.. To be.. A miracle
Just then they saw a shooting star in the sky
” quick! Make a wish!!! ”
Sasha shouted and the girls did make a wish
Seconds later Sasha whispered into Erica’s ears
” bestie what did you wish for”
Erica went into a deep thought before answering, her gaze concentrated on Tori and Shanaya who were about to enter the house, before whispering back
” I wished that Tori and Shanaya should find love, just like us ”
Sasha opened her mouth in shock
” but that’s exactly what I wished for ”
They grinned at each other until Erica’s face turned solemn
.” but do you believe it’s possible, I mean Shanaya, do you believe she can fall in love ”
” I hope so but I don’t know but I believe there’s nothing impossible ”
Sasha replied
” well I guess we’ll just wait to find out ”
Erica said but she doubted it but one thing was certain, there was no love story that could ever be as crazy as her’s and Viktor

But our crazy love story hasn’t.
Dream girl is simply Sasha and Erica’s story
This is not Tori’s story, neither is it Shanaya’s story
It is simply a sequel to thier stories
There’s a reason why I asked that question yesterday and I wasn’t surprised when most people wanted Erica to be the dream girl
It’s not about winning the competition
It’s about winning the heart
And to everyone Erica will always be the dream girl
Even me 😊
It’s obvious that the time I took in writing this story, I should have completed eight
But one thing I was always happy about was you guys
The time my phone got spoilt, the time I got sick, the time I was simply too stressed after a long tiring day at work to write
But you guys never gave up
The constant checking up on me, the encouraging words, it really means a lot to me
All those that started the story with us, those were the dream people, most of them couldn’t finish reading and sincerely I do not blame them
But the few that remained, determined to read this story to the very end, you guys are my reality people
The one’s I love for real
But it was kinda funny, I asked my brother yesterday, I was like ” bro, If I had the chance to win twenty million naira but there’s this guy I really like and I decided to give it up for him ”
