CHAPTER 37… 🥵

Mabel left with Mira following her lead to Isabella’s room. She was s¢ræming as always that her glass shattering s¢ræm. There was another maid trying so hærd to calm her down but it wasn’t working. She was quite relieved when Mira had arrived.

“You take of her. We have some things to finish up before evening” Mabel announced and they both left.

Mira sighed and close the door.
” What’s wrong Izzy?” Mira asked as she carried Isabella. But she was still crying. Mira got up with her and was walking around the room patting her on the back.

“Please stop crying” Mira cooed and after a while, Isabella eventually stopped. Partially.

“My baby. What’s making you cry like this ?” Mira asked and Isabella looked at her straight in the eyes. Mira talked and talked till her mouth started hurting but Isabella stayed still looking at her and giggling. So the talking was worth it. It was as if Isabella understood everything she said.

But when she tried to drop Isabella, she started again. This time h-rder. She cried real hærd.

“Am just going to get your bottle” Mira gr–ned and carried her again. This time she carried her to prepare her food and water to bath with her free hand. Which wasn’t easy to do. She had to struggle to do them. Plus Isabella weight was killing her arm.

After feeding her, she waited for the food to relax a little and made her burp then she took off her clothes to bath her.
That’s when she noticed it.

Red rashes all over Isabella arm spreading to her back.

“Huh?” This wasn’t on her body yesterday when Mira bathed her .

Unless..

“That maid…. Hope she isn’t…” Mira couldn’t even imagine what Mariam could have possibly done to Isabella last night. Then everything fell into place. That’s why Isabella has been crying non stop since last night . The rashes must have been Making her uncomfortable.

Mira immediately called for Mabel and showed her the rashes. Mrs Lockhart was informed and a doctor was called to the house. While Ezekiel, his mother and Mabel was in Isabella’s room, Mira left to confront Mariam.

She found her in the garden watering the plants and humming a song.

‘wow, she’s in a good mood’ Mira said sarcastically in her mind.

Mira grabbed her arm forcefully Making the hose to fall from Mariam hand.

“What did you do?” Mira gritted her teeth.

“Let go of me” Mariam yanked her hand from Mira grip. She glared at her and firstly turned off the hose before going to face Mira.

“What did you do to Isabella last night?” Mira asked trying to calm down.

Mariam smirked and folded her arm. She brought a hand up and examined her nails , “I don’t know what your talking about miss” ..

The urge to smack that smirk off her face gripped Mira but she didn’t. She remembered when she allowed that urge control her and that didn’t turn out well.

“What did you do to Isabella last night? ” Mira asked once more getting impatient.

” What’s wrong with little Isabella?” Mariam asked feigning innocence.

“You did something to her. That’s why she has been feeling uncomfortable and has been crying, am I right? ”

” Maybe. But you have nothing to prove that I did that or anything to her” Mariam clarified and Mira scoffed .

“Besides, you have been taking care of day and night, so obviously your responsible”
Mira was about to answer but a maid came to call Mariam.

” If you will excuse me” she hissed and left leaving mira fuming in anger.

She waited for a while to calm down before going back to Isabella’s room.

“She’s alright. The rash is just causing discomfort but she’ll be alright. ” The doctor said.

” But what caused the rash? ” Mrs Lockhart asked with a worried expression.

“Well I can’t say for sure. But the most common cause is heat so ensure the room is properly ventilated . Not too hot and not cold”. He explained and Mira felt something wasn’t right.

Isabella’s room is always ventilated. So where did the heat come from?

CHAPTER 38….🤤

‘its not heat, it’s Mariam that’s the cause’ Mira wanted to say but she ended up saying it only to herself. That’s because she remembered what Mariam had said and She was right. They won’t believe her because she had no prove. She needed evidence to back up her claims.

‘you went far Mariam. Trying to harm a baby to get what you want’ she couldn’t even believe that she could go this far. She reminded her of someone. Lady Ri…. Another person who could go to any extent to get what she wants.

The problem wasn’t what Mariam has done, but it’s how to expose her. Soon everyone left the room leaving only Mira with Isabella as everyone had other things to do.

She arranged her room properly then s₱0tted something. It was a little bottle. Deodorant. Mira sprayed a little on her hand and inhaled it. It was quite strong that it had Mira coughing with her nose peppery.

“Whose is this?” Mira asked herself. She had never seen this perfume before.

Mira checked the content.

“Warning: very harmful to children 12 and below” Mira read out .

” Caution: can cause irritation on some skins” ….Mira immediately left the room. This was the evidence she needed. Mariam just have used this on Isabella.

On her way out she bumped into Ezekiel.

“You seem to be in quite a rush” he said with a smile.

“Erm…I…wanted…” Then she s₱0tted a figure eavesdropping. And she knew quite well who it was.

“Tell me” Ezekiel urged her to continue with what she wanted to say.

“I wanted to quickly freshen up before breakfast . It’s almost 8:30 I believe” she said instead.

” Well, I don’t think that’s necessary”

“What do you say so?” Mira asked breathless.

” Every one is very busy. Just go when your ready to eat.” He explained and Mira nodded.

“Here” he gave her a shopping bag.

” What’s this?” Mira asked taking the shopping bag.

“It’s for you. For this evening party. “. He said casually dipping his hands in his pocket.

“But why did…..”

“Everyone is already picking out theirs. I called Mariam to call you but….I don’t think she has”

” She hasn’t ” Mira wasn’t even surprised anymore .

” Anyway, so I picked this. I think the color will suit you very well”

” Thank you” .
Ezekiel just smiled and gave way for her to leave.

Mira went to her room and dropped the bag on the bed without checking it. She grabbed her jug and went to get water.

“God, why did you have to destroy my plans Ezekiel?” Mariam growled frustratedly.

She was about heading to the maid quarters when she saw Mira coming out of her room. She didn’t even lock the door and seeing the jug in her hand, it was obvious that she was going to have a refill of water.

Mariam immediately grabbed scissors and entered her room closing the door gently.

“She didn’t even close her room properly. Foolish girl” Mariam said with a smile. Mira left her door partially opened when she left.

Mariam s₱0tted the bag that Ezekiel had given Mira on the bed.

She dropped the scissors and opened the bag. It was a short coral dress. And it so beautiful and eye catching.

“I don’t know about Mira but this dress will certainly fit me” Mariam said admiring the dress. ” So silky”..

Jealousy overcame her when she remembered that Ezekiel had gotten such a lovely dress for Mira. She will be able to steal the s₱0tlight and Mariam wouldn’t let that happen.

She picked the scissors shred the dress when…

“What are you doing?” She heard Mira’s voice.

” I… I…. Err” she stammered as Mira walked to her slowly. “I… Wanted to do laundry”.

“And since when do you take my laundry?” Mira asked.
Mariam lost her balance and fell on the bed. Mira immediately took the scissors that she was hiding.

Mariam dropped the dress on the bed.

“Busted” Mira whispered…

CHAPTER 39… 😭

“busted” Mira whispered.”your busted”.
Mariam heart raced fast . The look on Mira’s face wasn’t friendly at all.

“Were you just about to shred my dress?!” Mira asked very upset. She just stepped out to get water and comes back to find that someone wanting to destroy her dress. Like WTF😳.

“NOTHING. I was searching for scissors and I found one in your room. Nothing much” Mariam defended herself which Mira didn’t buy one bit.

“I thought it was laudry?” Mira raised a brow .

“Both” was the only reply.

“And why were you holding my dress?”

“Found the bag and thought I check it out. Pretty dress by the way”

” Thank you. Ezekiel gave it to me” . Mira then took the dress from her hand.

She folded the dress and placed it on her bed and brought out the deodorant she found in Isabella’s room.

Mariam face was filled with fear when she saw it.

“Where … Where did you get that from?” Mariam stammered.

“Oh…. You mean this” Mira asked and raised up the bottle.
“Well, I found it in Isabella’s room. Guess it must below to Ezekiel” Mira said with a shrug.

After that Mariam immediately left. She forgot the deodorant in Isabella’s room but she was glad she didn’t know it was her who dropped it there.

Mariam wiped the sweat on her forehead and continued with her work.

Finally, the party had started. Mira hadn’t come down since she met marima in her room . She spent most of her time taking care of Isabella. She wanted the rashes to go as quickly as possible. Hopefully, they won’t be any permanent effects on her. She also got her ready for the party knowing that some guest would love to see Ezekiel’s beautiful daughter and Mira wanted Isabella to look her best.

Soon Mabel came up to carry Isabella as many were requesting to see her. Thankfully, she was ready.
After Mabel had taken Isabella, Mira immediately left to get ready.

She packed her hair properly with hair pins and wore white heels with the coral dress.

“I must say, Ezekiel really has good taste of clothes” Mira said examining herself in the mirror. It was so lovely on her. And it fitted her perfectly making her to wonder how he knew her exact size.

Satisfied with how she looked, Mira went downstairs. She hadn’t even gotten to the main place where the party was held and people were just staring at her. She had head’s turning. To avoid more eyes , she used a different stairs. A stairs that wasn’t frequently used.

The moment she got down, she bumped into Ezekiel.

“Oh sorry” she immediately apologized.

“No…. It’s ok… Ay” he held his breath at the sight in front of him. His staring was Making Mira feel shy .

“You look amazing” Ezekiel complimented and Mira immediately thanked him .

They stood and talked for a very long time. Soon people kept coming to greet him and he would introduce Mira to them. As a friend that is.

Isabella was brought back because of her incessant crying probably the rashes Making her uncomfortable and Mira carried and she calmed down.

Ezekiel got a seat for her and sat down with her to keep her company. It made them seem like a couple to the extent that people mistook Mira to be Isabella mother.
Soon Isabella fell asleep and Mira carried her upstairs.

Ezekiel hadn’t seen Mira in a while. He waited for a long time.maybw Isabella woke up again.

Facing other pressing matters,soon his face would come and announce the purpose of the party.

He was talking with Lucas when he heard a s¢ræm.

“Mom!!” That was Annabelle voice.

Many people were gasping. He and Lucas immediately went to check what’s wrong and he found a body at the end of the stairs and that figure was his mom.

“What Happened?” He asked bending down to look at his mom who was unconscious. He began panicking. He father came . Annabelle was crying already. People were confused

“She…she….fell” Annabelle stammered pointing up the stairs and another figure stood there.
