His magnificent episode 40 – 41

CHAPTER 40….. 🧙

“You!” Anna with red eyes pointed to the top of the stairs. Everyone turned to see the person but it was too dark. Someone pointed the stage light to the dark silhouette figure at the top of the stairs.

“Mira” Ezekiel whispered and some gasped.

Mira gently but hurrily rushed down the stairs. Before she could even get the last step, Anna attacked her by holding her neck. Mira was choking and suffocating but Anna cared less.

“You… You want to kill my mother…”. Anna lost her mind. Ezekiel struggled to remove Anna grip on Mira neck before something terrible happens.

While Mira was coughing from the suffocation, Ezekiel’s mom was carried to her room and the doctor who was among their guest immediately attended to her.

“Anna calm down” Ezekiel said trying to calm the hysteric Annabelle who wouldn’t hear anything.

Mira’s eyes were filled with tears. Her tears choked her voice and she couldn’t say anything in her defense.

“I won’t spare you if I get my hands on you” Anna yelled as she was led to a corner by Ezekiel.

” The footage is ready sir” Lucas announced while holding a laptop.

” Do you hear that? ” Ezekiel said sharply at Anna who calmed down a bit. They had retrieve the footage of what happened to determine everything without jumping into conclusion. Ezekiel wouldn’t believe that Mira would purposely push his mom. She was too kind for that.

Everyone moved to the Ezekiel’s study. Mira stood at the doorway too scared to get closer. She knew she was innocent. In fact she had tried to save Mrs Lockhart but she was late.

The footage was brought up and everyone paid full attention. Lucas sat in front of the laptop to bring up the footage.

THE FOOTAGE…

After locating the camera which captured all movement near the stairs area, it was fast forward 10mins before the fall.

It showed when Mira went upstairs with Isabella in her arm. Everyone waited eagerly to Know what would happen. There was no movement on the stairs till finally, someone dressed in a black cloak came near to the stairs. Since the upstairs was kind of dark with only a small blue light illuminating the area for people to at least see where they are going, no one saw when the person came even in the footage.

The face never faced the camera.

Then the person brought out a small bottle and poured something liquid on the floor. Probably oil and left immediately. Lucas, Ezekiel and Mr Lockhart looked at each other with knowing looks. Then Ezekiel’s mom was nearing the area with Mira a few steps behind her.

Then suddenly Mira ran close to her but she missed cause Ezekiel’s mom was already going down the stairs in a rush… Falling and mira quickly went to the top. She slipped a little but she quickly held the iron for support.

Ezekiel fast beating heart slowed down. At least Mira didn’t push his mom. Someone had purposely spilled oil but something told him that it wasn’t meant for his mom but for Mira.

“They’ll be holding a party tonight. It’s the perfect time to strike. ”

” Good. As soon as you get a chance, do your work”

” Yes boss”

The maid carried her bucket to get water. She was unawares of the fall Mrs Lockhart just had. Humming her favorite song, she set her bucket under the tap for the water to be fetch.

Today had been really stressful with all the cooking and preparation for the party. All she needed was a cold bath and a goodnight rest.

The other maids can handle the cleaning at least that’s what she thought.

She didn’t know she was followed . She took up her bucket and enter the mansion from the back. She climbed the stairs that led to the maid quarters. As she was passing a hall, a vase fell. She dropped her water to pick up the vase when a hand covered her mouth.

“You shouldn’t accuse without evidence” Ezekiel rebuked and Anna just hissed and left to her room. Mira wiped her tears. At least they knew she was innocent.

Mira just smiled at Ezekiel and left to Isabella’s room. She needed to calm down at least.

“Sir” Thomas came rushing looking frightened.

“What’s wrong? You look like you have seen a ghost” Lucas said in a teasing manner. But this was no time for joke.

“I have seen worst than a ghost”

Both Lucas and Ezekiel looked at themselves confused.

“….”

” Huh!!”

Since Mr Lockhart was with his wife, Thomas gestured that they should follow him.

People were already gathered out side.
They made their way to what seemed to amazed everyone.

“God!!”

CHAPTER 41…. 🥰

They found her half dead on the floor. She was bleeding profusely.

“What happened?” Lucas asked stunned and confused.

” She fell from the balcony” a guest said.

” How sure are you that she did? ” Ezekiel asked stiff.

” I saw her when she was falling and alerted others” the person replied. Ezekiel shifted his gaze to the person. It was a staff from his company.

Lucas and Thomas had everyone to go home since they had already fulfill the purpose of the party.

As soon as Ezekiel was left alone, he examined the body and what he found confirmed his suspicious.

“They’re the cause aren’t they?” Lucas asked as soon as he came back with Thomas.

“Yes”

Lucas bent down to see what he knew was there since Ezekiel had confirmed it already.

“Thomas, have the body the removed and inform the family of the deceased” Ezekiel said.

” Yes sir”

” And Lucas, is my dad informed? ” He asked.

“Not yet. ”

” Inform him and my brother”

Everywhere was very quiet the next day. It felt like no one stayed in the mansion.
On the one hand, they had Mrs Lockhart who thankfully was responding to medication and on the other was the maid who mysteriously fell from the balcony.

“She was such a good girl with a kind heart.”,

“I don’t think she can ever have suicidal thoughts”

” Oh death why? ”

“Such tragedy”

The maids mourned her . They all loved her. Bella, that was her name. She was in charge of cleaning the mansion and the garden. Mabel had never gotten a reason to complain about her. She was the only obedient maid but sadly, she’s dead.

Ezekiel wanted to interrogate the maid if they saw anything but then he remembered that the maid throat was slit.

“They pushed her off the balcony so that it would look as if she committed suicide by jumping ” Lucas pointed out since he was the one to discover the slit. He had already thought of Everything.

They were all in Ezekiel’s study room: Ezekiel’s Dad, Ezekiel, Thomas and Lucas… They were analyzing what the had gathered. And from the mark, they knew who did it.

“And they also knew that we would discover the cut but the guest won’t cause we won’t allow anyone go near them to see the slit”, Lucas once again pointed out and he was right.

“What do you think dad?” Ezekiel asked after a long silence.

“We’ll have to wait for now. Now we can’t predict what’s going to happen next so the best is to wait” Mr Lockhart reasoned.

” What about mom’s predicament?” Ezekiel asked.

“Sir if I may say something” Thomas asked and he nodded…”*clears throat* I don’t think they are responsible for that” Thomas said.

” Why do you say that?”

” Because I found this” he brought out a transparent bag with a cloth in,side.

“I found this in the trash bin this early morning with this” he held out a small bottle.

It was the cloak that the person wore with the bottle which contained the oil which was spilled on the floor..

“The person must be someone who stays in the mansion”, Lucas pointed out and took the bottle.

” Yes exactly. This bottle precisely comes from the kitchen. The person must be a servant. We would all the maids dna to determine who it really is. Although my hands have already touched the Bottle, I believe we could get something from the cloak. My prints aren’t on it”

” Yes that’s what we’ll do”

She just sat on the bed recalling yesterday’s event. It was shocking. She was almost implicated.

She turned her head to the wall clock. “6:30am” she said aloud.

She sighed

Mira somehow felt like the fall was meant for her. There was no oil when she carried Isabella up to lie her down and from the footage, she discovered that it was only after she left , did the person come. But unfortunately, Mrs Lockhart came before her.

She was at Least glad that no one blamed her for the fall. She couldn’t even bring words from her mouth. She was shocked and relieved at the same time.

Mira got up from bed and went to take a shower and brush her teeth. Even though it was still quite early for that.
She went to Isabella’s room after that and thankfully, Isabella was still asleep. She prepared her milk and placed her water for bath before Isabella woke up.

She fed her and bathed and surprisingly, Isabella fell back asleep. She ensured she checked the rashes and fortunately, they were going already. Just a few more days and they’ll all be gone.

Placing her to sleep, she remembered Mrs Lockhart condition. The doctor said she’ll be fine soon since her condition wasn’t critical.

“Lemme go and see her” Mira decided.

She went and stood in front of her room door. Remembering one of the rule Ezekiel had told her, she stopped to knock but then what if she isn’t awake.

Anyway, she knocked. When she got no response, she decided to enter. Before she could open the door, a hand placed on the door forcefully.

“What do you think your doing?”
