Chapter 9: HE SAVED ME.

I walked in without saying a word to anyone. Mom and dad stared at me but wouldn’t say anything. Honestly, I don’t think I want anyone to ask me a damn question right now.
I slammed my door hærd, throwing myself on the bed. I was feeling sleepy, I wasn’t able to sleep last night with the hot pains I was feeling on my chest.
Thank God for him… I honestly don’t know what could have happened to me if not for him. I’ll admit, he did save my life yesterday.
Somehow, I wonder if really he is the bad guy. Or was he more than Genevieve had told me last eight years??
She made me believe werewolves were dangerous creatures, heartless and monstrous. Wrong, I’m beginning to see the opposite in him.
He isn’t as she explained, he was far different from it. He has many opportunities to take me away from my home but he didn’t.
It is obvious that last night he could have done that and no one will ever know I existed. But here I am, laying on my bed alive.
Sometimes, we are just wrong about people we think we do know. I’ll admit it, animals have no emotions at all. They are merciless, and it’s only by luck one survives them.
Like he said, he wasn’t like other alpha’s who takes whatever they want by force and they actually don’t give a damn about what people says.
Not everyone are the same, I’d say. But why do I feel so concerned about him than before?? Am I picking interest in him??

I opened my eyes but still laid on my bed, my eyes staring outside the window. Thank God it’s weekend, I won’t bother about how late I am for class.
There came a knock on my door, I ignored it. It came again, I didn’t have to bother about it. Right now, everything in here s-cks. Everything about life s-cks a lot.
Genevieve and Danielle entered. ” Hey, ” Gene said in a low tune. ” How you feeling?” She asked.
I didn’t say anything. They both look at each other, before sitting on the bed. ” Hey, Ana. ” Danielle said touching my leg. ” Where were you last night, we were looking all over for you. ”
” Did something bad happen to you? ” Gene added.
” I’m fine. ” I said, turning my body to the other side. ” I just wanna be alone. ”
” We know, Ana but you left us bothered through out the night. Dad was even planning on reporting your disappearance to the station. Thankfully you showed up on time. ” Gene said.
” Nothing happened last night. I felt like staying out of here was the best thing to do for me and my life. ”
She sighed. ” We understand but at least you could have called either Danielle or me rather than keeping us in suspense. ”
” That wasn’t necessary. ” I looked at them, ” Calling you guys would make either of you to come find me. ” I looked away. ” I’m tired of keeping quiet over this. ”
” Over what? ” They asked in unison.
” Haven’t you notice the way dad and mom acts? They’re becoming weirder day by day, that they didn’t even cared to get something home for dinner. And do you know the worst part of it, they didn’t bother. They were just so comfortable with me starving to death. I just don’t wanna talk about them right now cos they are just annoying. ”
” We totally understand, Ana, we’ve noticed this since you returned from the hospital. Nothing seems alright after that day, but what can we do? ” Danielle sighed.
” Ana, you know you can talk to us about anything, that’s what we do remember? We tell each other our secrets and what bothers us the most. What happened last night? ”
” I couldn’t stay anymore, so I went out to find something to eat. When I got into a taxi, the next thing I remember was seeing myself at the middle of nowhere, tied up in the woods. Then I realized I was kidnapped. I did run away, but they came after me. And they shot an arrow on my chest, luckily it wasn’t close to my heart. ” I showed them the fresh wound on my skin. The gasped in fear.
” I passed out, I don’t know what happened next but all I can remember was seeing him standing right before me in his casual outfit. He saved my life. I thought he was gonna kill me or take me away but no, I’m alive is because of him. ”
” You mean the wolf? ” Danielle asked.
” Yes, ” I answered, ” I mean the wolf. What if we are wrong about him, what if he isn’t that evil as we think? What if this is actually fate’s calling? What if he is only trying to protect me? ” I asked numerous times, hoping for an answer.
” Ana, this isn’t protection. ” Gene protested. ” He is only playing nice to you so that he will take you to himself. He’s gonna take you away from your freedom, your home. We can’t trust him, you can’t. History has said it over and over again, werewolves aren’t the simple creatures, they are monsters in disguise. ”
” Gene is right, Illiana, he is only trying to win your trust. Once you enter into his household, he’s gonna show you the type of person he is. Don’t believe whatever trick he is trying to play, you have to be careful. ”
” I wanna believe that all this are part of his tricks, but in the other side, I feel like it isn’t. He has many chances of taking me away. Eight years ago, he could have taken me not withstanding that mom and dad were with us. At the hospital, he came too. He could have taken me away even before mom would return from the pizza store. And last night, he saved my life in the woods, but here I am. Do you still think this is a trick? ” I questioned.
” I have this feeling that Dad might know something about this wh0le thing more than anyone, but I’m just so scared to ask him. ”
” What about the wedding I told you about? ” Danielle reminded. “You said you were gonna agree with the marriage remember? ”
” I remember about the wedding, and I haven’t changed my mind yet. All I am trying to explain to you guys is, even if he is an animal, we don’t have to keep seeing him as the bad guy. ”
” Who is the bad guy then? ” Gene frowned.
” I don’t know. Maybe we Humans are. In as much as we fear them, they fear us too. We both are enemies to ourselves. ”
” This is nonsense! ” She raked in anger.
” This is no nonsense, Gene, this is the truth. We were made to believe the opposite side of the truth about the wolves, all those were just horror stories, but we don’t know the real truth yet.
All we know is that they are monsters who kills without a second thought. Why don’t we ask ourselves this then, why am I still alive? Why hasn’t he killed me yet? If you give me an answer to my question, then I’ve got no other choice but to believe the wolves are truly monsters. ”
None of them could give me an answer. Maybe that’s because there is no answer to the questions. ” Then they aren’t. They are just good people. Maybe they might be this monsters everyone talk about, but not all of them are.
I wanna leave the state, if possible this world too. But what is fate when it keeps knocking on your door? What is destiny when it keeps displaying like a movie? Somehow I feel like… ” I shook my head. “I don’t know. I just don’t know. ”

Chapter 10: I NEED TO KNOW.
Although I know dad wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone, I still had to pick the courage to approach him. I went to his room, it has always been locked since he returned from work.
Gene and Danielle on the other hand has always been persuading me not to go talk to him. I get it, they are only trying to protect me but, this is my fate. If truly I am fated to this monster, then I think I need to understand more about my destiny.
And the only person who can tell me about this is my Dad.
I headed to his room, hesitating to knock on his door. Will he answer me? Will he even give me the chance to tell me what I desperately want?
Maybe, standing here with the thoughts wasn’t gonna help matters. I just have to give it a try and wait for whatever will be his reaction.
” Who is that? ” He asked after the first two knocks.
” Father, it’s I, Illiana. ” I responded, still with the second thought. Should I just turn my back and call this a mistake?
The door opened and the first thing I saw was an emotionless face staring mutely at me. ” Dad,” I called in a sobbing tune. ” there’s something I wanna talk to you about. ”
” Come in. ” He opened the door wide enough for me to enter. I sat on his bed, while he leaned against the wall. We were quiet for what took like minutes, then he asked. ” What is it you wanna talk to me about? ”
” Dad, ” I started. ” First, I don’t know what’s going on between you and mother but I don’t care to know what it is. And second, I’m sorry for keeping you guys bothered two nights ago. I thought leaving was the right choice, but I was wrong. ”
” Illiana, I don’t blame you nor your sisters for anything. It’s not your fault, and neither is it theirs. The only problem is that we find it difficult to understand what fate has for us. ”
” That’s why I am here. I know you know something about my destiny. Starting from the day at the hospital, when I saw you crying, I had this feeling that… there was something bothering you, something you just don’t wanna talk about. I never wanted to ask because, I felt maybe you were just sad seeing me in a poor condition. But father, ”
I stood up from his bed, walking to where he stood. ” what is it you know that I don’t know. What is it that bothers you but you are scared to say it? Is it about my destiny, is it about the mark? Tell me father, tell me. ”
” Illiana… ” He shook his head tearfully. ” I’m sorry for not being there for you. If I was a good father, none of this could have happened to you. ”
” Dad, what are you talking about? ”
” You’re in this condition is all because of me. I knew what fate has for you, but I was so foolish to understand it. Eight years ago, when they came looking for you, out of you and your sisters, I knew it was you he was coming for. I was just too scared to give you out, I was so scared to lose you so soon.
I listened to your mother. She was the one who brought up the idea of leaving Mandeva. She made me believe we can keep you safe from him if we were far away. I knew we can’t, I knew we can never as far as the mark is concerned. But what can I do? I don’t want my daughter to see me as a wicked father, to think I hated her and wanted her out of my life.
I had to listen to your mother. And each time I see the mark grow, I knew I was becoming a bad father to watch you suffer when the remedy was so clear for me to understand. I never believed in fate, but I did the moment he gave you the mark.
The doctor said the only way to stop the mark from growing was to give you to the one who marked you. I wanted to tell you, I really do but… ”
” But what? ”
” It wasn’t that easy to give you away even though doing so was the right thing. If your mother ever finds out that I told you about this, she promised to sign a divorce between us. ”
” She is planning on getting me married to one of her colleague’s son. Danielle made me promise not to tell you, but now I see she what she’s up to, I don’t know what to do. Dad, I don’t want this family to divide because of me. It never happened before, it shouldn’t now.
I know choosing to marry her friend’s son is a wrong choice but if that’s the only way to prevent this family from separating then I have to. But after then, I’m sorry, I’ll have to face my destiny even though it’s so difficult for me to accept. Isn’t that what you want? ”
He nodded. ” Those stories about the wolves aren’t hundred percent real, not all of them are the monsters we think. Those are just goodnight tales we listen. ”
” I knew it. But Gene said most of them are. ”
” Most, but not all of them. ” He corrected. ” Those who are mated to werewolves, are always the luckiest creatures in the world. Trust me, following your destiny is not the wrong choice ever made, rather it’s the beginning of a new history. ”
” A new history. ” I repeated.
” Yes, a new history. ” He nodded a smile.
I pulled myself into his arms, hugging him so tight. ” I knew I can trust you in this. Thanks dad, for being so sincere to me. You’ll always remain the best. ” I k-ssed his left cheek.
” It’s a pleasure, sweetheart. ”
I broke the warm lasting hug, ” Maybe you should start from now to put the smiles on. ”
He scoffed.
” I really missed those smiles, you know. ” He finally smiled after an effortless attempt, I returned the smile.

I yawned, rubbing my eyes. The weather was a bit darker and it was still 5:30 on my table clock. I went to ease myself, on returning, everywhere was looking bright and clear.
Staring at the table clock, I was shocked to see what the time was. It was 10 o’clock already? How the heck is that possible?? I shivered and almost fell when I heard the multiple banging on my door.
” Who’s that crazy idiot f*cking banging on my door!! ” I yelled at whosoever it was.
” Crazy idiots? ” Danielle snapped. ” Did she just called us crazy idiots? Oh, Ana, I’m gonna strangle your throat as soon as you open this door. ”
” I’m gonna kick her butts and let her know how painful knocking on her door is. Hey, Ana, get your ass over her and stop smiling at our conversation! Your wedding is in the next one hour and you need to get your face maked up. ”
” What?! ” I flew my eyes open. ” What wedding are you talking about? ”
” Just open the damn door and stop keeping us waiting. ” Danielle complained.
” What wedding are you guys talking about? ” I repeated.
” Oh please, ” Danielle rolled her eyes.
” C’mon little sis, don’t tell me you slept your brains off. I thought we discussed about this last night. ”
” Did we? ” I looked more confused than I sounded. ” I’m sorry I don’t remember discussing that with you guys. Danielle only told me mom was planning on getting me married but she never told me when. ”
” Well, consider it as a surprise then. ” Gene smirked.
” No. No, I’m not. I’m not marrying anyone. I’m not ready yet. ” I refused.
” Then you choose to follow that monster? ” Danielle frowned.
” If that’s fate, then yes, I wish to follow him. ”
” As long as I am alive, you are not marrying that monster. ” Mom finalized as she walked into my room.
I opened my eyes, thanking my stars it was all a dream…
