WHISPERS 🤫

🖤 Chapter Twelve 🖤

I stood outside the cottage, it was dark at night. Endy and Cressida were sleeping peacefully, unaware of the evil being done in their land. The three brothers were wizards but Endy wasn’t aware, they were doing something to weaken his powers and that of his wife’s. Poor Endy didn’t know, he was too confident and unsuspecting. I wish I could warn them, I wish I could yell at them to wake up and stop the evil, but I couldn’t.

The movement forwarded to the early hours of the morning, a large mob stood outside the cottage, throwing things at it and even ready to set it on fire. I walked back in,side, going through the door with my intangible form.

“Come out you cruel warlock! Come face judgement!” I wasn’t sure what lies the three men had filled the angry people outside, but they were indeed angry. I found them at the basement, Endy was forcing Cressida into an underground tunnel.

“I can’t leave you, we are in this together, we can run away together!”

“I will not risk the life of my child and yours, what use would your deaths be to me? You can instead go out there and raise our child in peace, your powers will return sooner or later…”

“Come with me, please, you don’t have to face them alone.” Cressida cried.

“If I don’t stay back, they would eventually come seeking us, I should end this once and for all.”

“Your fight with your brother’s have been for ages, just ignore them, you don’t even have your powers anymore! And don’t even think of using the spell I think you want to use, it would claim your life in exchange for the power!”

“Cressida, my brothers would keep coming after me no matter what, if I don’t stop them, our daughter wouldn’t be able to get a good life. We have moved ten times because of them, yet they still find their way to locate us and try to torment us, I can’t do this anymore. I rather die now taking all three of them along with me to keep you and my angel safe. Believe it or not Cressida, this is my fate.” He spoke staunchly, his eyes flashing with determination.

“We can take them together later, when your powers and mine return, we can protect our…” A loud bang from the door made her jolt. They were ramming the door.

“Cressida, please trust me and go, always remember that I love you and our child very much. Please, don’t avenge me, this is what I have chosen for myself and I won’t let you waste your life seeking justice for me. Please?”

“Try to survive,” she cried. The image stilled and slowly began to fade back to darkness. From what I had seen, Endy died and that was the sin Cressida was avenging. But how does the oak tree comes into this? If this really happened, Victoria wouldn’t be that young by that time.

“She wasn’t,” a woman gruff voice echoed in the darkness. “Cressida wasn’t happy, no matter how she tried to forget, every time she saw her daughter made her thirst for the blood of others. In order to gain that power, she buried herself and her daughter in a tomb, putting them in a timeless slumber. They didn’t age, didn’t grow, just slept.

When the time came, she woke up and took her daughter, forged a life to act normal. At that time, the oak tree has already disappeared into the white lake, to protect itself from the coming darkness. All the lands of Willow Spring belongs to me, the oak tree. I couldn’t let the darkness spread, so I chose three other girls from strong witch family and priesthood, then blessed Victoria with more powers. In Cressida’s family, when a daughter is born to a mother, if she inherits her witch powers, the daughter’s would be stronger. With Victoria’s powers already stronger than her mother’s, all I needed to do was give her more powers and I did.

You have already seen what happened, they all died. When Drusilla Milan, Esme Lugard and Quincy Silbert died, their spirits were angry, furious as Cressida used it to her advantage. She summoned the spirits and gave them the powers to inflict on the people what they did to them. Quincy died at the hand of a beast, so she became one and devoured her victims. Esme died with her baby by stoning and her death caused her mother to die by heart attack. Esme kills by ripping off the productive system of any pregnant woman and spiritually removing their hearts. She is more cruel than the others.

Drusilla, you already had a front role seat of what she can do. They killed the townspeople mercilessly, each soul they absorbed made them stronger and strengthened their lives and powers of Cressida. The poor things didn’t know that Cressida had a hand in their death.”

“And this is the part where Victoria stopped them, right?”

“Yes, I told her how to stop them, by purifying their ashes, but in the end, she died after everything was done. Victoria lives in a curse, her existence was tied to Cressida, to always awaken from death to stop her whenever she rose back every fifty years. Each time Cressida came back, she was smarter and more powerful, along with her puppets. And each time Victoria stopped her, she paid with her life.

This have been happening for hundreds of years, this time makes it five hundred years since the incident. Victoria became tired of always having to wake up from the dead, she wanted peace for once. So the upper last time she returned, she carried out an investigation and found out there was a way she could be at rest and leave the responsibility to a successor. The only problem was that the successor must be from her lineage.”

“Okay… So…?” I asked the voice, eager to know the end of the story.

“So when she returned the last time and lived up to her thirties, she made sure to conceive a child for a powerful demigod. She however didn’t let the child grow in her womb, she removed it life and made it into a seed, a seed to be grown in the most ancient and powerful ground, the land of the alpha of the earth clan…” Her words trailed off as the darkness began to take form again.

Victoria stood alone in a dark misty forest, like the one in my dream. She wore a cape, hugging herself as she shivered, waiting for who she was waiting for. Soon I heard growls and snarls, different kind of wild canids started trooping out, bigger than any normal sized canid creatures, taller and more fearful. They came out like bees, surrounding Victoria as they continued to bark and growl and snarl.

I looked at the rock that stood tall above them all, a man stood there with one foot high and arms folded. His l-ips was pressed into a thin line, his brows furrowed in annoyance, eyes showing his displeasure of having her in his domain. I found myself gaping at him, he was so beautiful.

The man wore nothing but a lampas p-nts, or was it something else, it was too dark to see. His veins tightened and popped at the folding of his strong muscular arms. He had gold for eyes, and such long hair, long pewter and pearly grey hair packed up in a ponytail like a girl’s. The ponytail fell across his left shoulder and covered his left br-ast to his lower rib. It was like one of those fairytale Mr. Perfect.

Tori bowed slightly at him before raising her head with a smile. It was obvious the man frightened her a bit. “Victoria, what are you doing here?” He asked coldly, the iciness in his tone made me shiver slightly with fear.

“I need you help…”

“No.” He deadpanned.

“You haven’t even heard what I have to say,” she said poutingly, “don’t be rude to a lady.”

“I don’t care to know, you always attract bad things so no, I won’t help you. Now leave my land and never come back here.”

“Arc, your father was my dear friend, he stood by me during my last two return…”

“A foolish mistake that got him killed,” Arc growled, his name suited him perfectly. “I am not like him Vicky, I am me and this me despise you. Now leave before I descend on you!”

“He was a true friend, a strong warrior…”

“Tell that to his grave and my mother who killed herself with envy, believing he loved you and not her.”

“Your father was like a brother to me.” Tori snapped.

“Tell that to my mother’s dead body.”

She sighed coyly. “I thought you would be interested in the solution I have to your curse problem but I guess you are not interested.” She said slyly, waving her hand dismissively. His eyes twinkled with interest.

“What solution?” He asked curiously.

“Oh now you want me to talk, huh?” She snorted. “Well I’m not talking, goodbye.”

“Victoria, don’t do that stupid thing with me, speak before I change my mind.” He barked, he is too harsh.

“The solution would help both you and I, all I need you do is cooperate. I thought about the wh0le thing, the only way to finally destroy Cressida is for another offspring to be born, one that would be stronger than me. So, I took it upon myself to conceive a child, if she is born, I willingly surrender her into your care.”

“I don’t understand, how is that suppose to help me?” He huffed. “No girl born of a woman can ever survive with me, that is the curse placed on me all thanks to you! I can’t have an heir and my suppose mate have been banished from existence, what use will your child be to me!”

“And that is why I won’t birth her, conceived, yes, but not birth. The curse says that any mortal or immortal woman born by a woman who you dare mate with will die. I am not mortal, I am a spirit and her father was immortal. Now take a look,” she opened her palm and showed him a small seed. “By planting this in the heart of the earth clan, the baby would grow in,side, not in a woman’s womb. I know it sounds impossible but I have done my assignment well, I know this would work.” She said certainly.

“So you are saying you removed your growing baby and turned her to a seed which you want me to plant in the core of my kingdom’s heart and watch over it until it grows and bloom?”

“Yes,” Tori grinned, “you taking care of the child automatically makes her yours, your mate for life. When the flower blooms, I would take the child and plant her where I want her. After she finish destroying her grandmother, you can take her. Isn’t that fair enough?”

He shook his head, “too good to be true. Plus, what if this child doesn’t want her fate to be decided like this, what if she wants a better war free life for herself? You don’t even know how to permanently kill Cressida, why throw such weight on her head?”

“I am already making plans on finding the life source of Cressida, all I need is for you to help me not just plant the seed, but also watch over her before and after she is born. Without your cooperation, the remaining seals won’t work, all elements much be active. Please Arc, do this for your father who she killed and for your people who have been hoping that a miracle would happen and you will have a mate. I know it isn’t fair for me to decide my daughter’s fate like this, but what choice do I have? The more Cressida dies and resurrect, the stronger and more difficult it is to stop her.

Arc, I can’t keep this up, I have almost lost all my powers, I’m almost powerless. I know that she would be mad at me when she finds out what I have done, the deal I made with you, but she will have to forgive me and live with it.”

Wow, that daughter must really be lucky, who wouldn’t want a hunk for a soulmate?

I couldn’t help but envy the daughter, whoever she was. Arc was just too real to be true.

“The other problem is she would live with humans, how am I certain she won’t give her heart away to a mortal, thereby breaking our bond and inflicting the death scales on me? I can’t be rejected, no Alpha Dog demon has ever been for death is the punishment.” He said worriedly, his life was at stake.

“I promise, she won’t near any other man until she knows the truth, you have my words Arc.” Victoria vowed. Arc searched her eyes for any resistance, finding none, he agreed.

The image changed again, this time it was in a cave like place. The wh0le place was covered with some kind of jewel, forming walls and spiky ground. This must be the heart. Tori stood behind Arc who was crouching over a gemstone lake, muttering words to himself. His palms were slightly under the water, the seed in it hands absorbing it. He stood up slowly, water dripping out of his cupped palms. Tori moved out of his way as he walked with eyes closed, l-ips still moving in such fast pace.

Arc walked to the center of the cavern cave thingy and gently dropped the seed in a small h0le. The h0le closed up and the ground began to glow.

“Bless the child.” He instructed in a foreign language, but I surprisingly understood it.

“Onto you I give a child
Onto you I lay my might
A soul blessed by the blessed
A heart pure with no detest
Darkness shall awake and rise
Evil will surely strike
The foes of earth will stand
But none who tries will last

The light is meant to shine
To conquer, to destroy
All ye with evil hearts
Bad intentions will not smite thee
Evil weapons will never reach thee
Shine oh light I give away
Glow in the night, in darkness and in dismay
Live all through the mighty, deadly days
Death shall never find you
No matter what may

All who seek you will go blind
All who listens to die at night
Listen to the voice of peace
Cower to the face of defeat
Every evil, be it spell of any form
Will return in more than a thousand folds.”

Another foreign language I understood. Arc leaned down and whispered something to the ground, his hair quickly turned gold, the more he spoke, the thicker it became. Then he knelt up straight, brought his right palm to his l-ips and bit off his flesh. I cringe, blood gushed out from his wound. Arc stretched his hand over the covered h0le and squeezed his palm, causing the stream of blood to rain down on the h0le. The blood continued to flow until his flesh grew back, ending the flow of blood.

Flesh, what is he going to do with that?… I thought.

He threw the meaty flesh, the h0le opened up and swallowed the flesh before closing up, taking all the blood in as well. The wh0le thing was insane! I still couldn’t believe everything was real.

“It is done.”

Once again, the movie I was witnessing forwarded. The plant grew out for three decades, Arc was always there to take care of it like a mother to her sick baby. When the flower finally bloomed, Tori’s spirit came and took it. I watched as she exchanged the baby with the dead child of a woman. She took the baby away, buried the dead child and returned to the hospital. The woman walked staggered in from the joined hospital bathroom, eyes red from tears. She froze when she saw Victoria, I froze when I saw her!

“Who are you?” She asked shakily.

“Your child is dead, isn’t this the tenth one?” Tori asked calmly, hands clasped against each other.

“Are you…y…”

“An angel? Maybe,” Tori said evasively. “You cannot conceive a living child, that is your curse…”

“I have to! My husband would leave me if he finds out another one is dead!” She scre-med in tears.

“And that is why I have been sent to give you a holy child. Take good care of her, never suffer her or you will die. If you can care for her well, you will be blessed with a child of your own, but that doesn’t mean you will turn her to a slave or your children will die. Would you accept it?”

“Yes, yes! Any child is better than none!” The woman scre-med desperately.

“Remember the conditions, do not suffer her, do not let her cry and never let her close to any man, not until she is above twenty. If you can do this, then you will surely be blessed.”

“I’ll do it, I promise. Even if I don’t have my own child, this one is enough… But what if her father wants a paternity test? What am I suppose to do?”

“She is whatever blood group she needs to be, do not fret. Goodbye woman, and make sure to fulfil your promise.” Tori disappeared. The woman scre-med with shock, startled by the sudden movement.

My mouth hung open, the woman was my late mother which also meant that the child was me! Victoria is my mother! I am betrothed to an animal!

What the f-ck!

To be continued.

And there you have it, kudos to those who guessed from the beginning that Victoria was her mother and the golden eyes belonged to a wolf and he would be her mate. The only thing is that Arc isn’t just a wolf, just prefers that form.

I don’t remember the people who guessed but congratulations!
