IT WAS A SET UP (EPISODE 4)

He came in and sat on the other chair

From his countenance, he was not disturbed, so I suspected a foul play

He looked at me and took a deep breath

“Young man, I can make this wh0le thing easy for you. I can let this go. I can call this off. But on the other hand, I can make it really difficult for you. I can involve the Police. I can report this to the Senate and make sure I follow it up. You can be rusticated and detained by the Police until I ask them to release you.”

“I don’t understand, Sir”

“Let me make you understand. You can keep your girl and forget about your studies here, or you forget about her and face your studies. The choice is your”

“So this is all about a girl? Which girl are you talking about?”

“Linda. Leave her for me and I assure you, all these will go. But you can choose to keep her and let us see how it goes”

He stood up and made to the door, then added: “think about that”

Why on earth would he confront me on such a trivial matter?

I wished I had my phone to record him!

Few minutes later, I was taken back to the CSO’s office where I left Linda

Linda was still there, but I did not see the CSO

“What happened down there?”, Linda asked

“Dr Mike came in and asked me to forget about you and face my studies, or keep you and forget about my studies”

“He said that?”

“Yes”

“I’m sorry. This all my fault. I’m sorry”, she added

Just then, the CSO came in and took his seat

“Come and write your names here. Write your phone numbers as well as your matriculation numbers. You shall be contacted when we need you. Drop your student’s IDs here”, he said as he handed us a sheet of paper

We wrote all the details as required

Our phones were returned and we were asked to go

As we were about to exit the door, Linda turned to the CSO and asked: “Are you part of this?”

Out of surprise, the CSO replied: “Part of what?”

“Part of the gang who goes about setting students up just to s€×ually abuse them. Are you one of them?”

“You are too arrogant. My friend, get out of here before I hand you over to the Police”

Linda gave him a stern look before departing

I became more scared

The day was already far spent, so we did not bother going to class any more

We made it home

I was hungry, but I did not have the appetite to eat

Linda had a shower first before going to the kitchen

She knew I was no longer myself, so she gave me some words of encouragement

“Don’t tell me you are moody because of what happened back in the school”

“Why won’t I be moody? Who will help me out of this mess? I have no one. Don’t you understand?”

“Did you pick the phone?”, she asked

“Why would you even think of that?”

“Then cheer up. You have nothing to worry about. At least a search was conducted and the phone was not found in us. Don’t worry. Let’s wait for their next line of action. As for me, I don’t have any problem. Dr Mike is nothing before me. God will handle his case when the time comes.”

I managed to eat that evening just to appease her

While we were eating, Linda noticed that I was toiling with my food

“This is all my fault”, she said

“Your fault? How? This is the second time you’re saying this”

“Am I beautiful?”

“Yes! You are. Why asked?”

“I keep getting into trouble with people who wants me at all cost. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s…”, she paused

“Maybe what?”

“Never mind. Stop toiling with your food. Eat.”

After the meal, I relaxed on the couch as she went into the bedroom

I took a little nap

By the time I woke up, it was already dark

“Linda!”, I called out

“Please come to the bedroom”, she responded

When I went to the bedroom, she was having fun with her phone

I began to wonder what kind of human being she was.

‘Why would she be having fun at such a crucial time?’

‘What if we end up being expelled from the school?’

‘Does it mean she is not bothered at all?’

Over a million thoughts ran through my mind

I tried to pretend I was not bothered too

“Are you playing game?”, I asked

“Yes”

I wanted to go home that night, but I was unable because I was afraid of what was waiting for me at home, having remembered what happened the previous day

“I’ll sleep here tonight. I won’t be able to go home”, I said

“Are you scared?”, she asked scornfully

“Not really. Just that I’m tired”

“I hear you Sir. Be my guest”

That was not the first time I spent a night at her place

I returned to the couch after bidding her good night

I pulled off my trouser and shirt and kept them aside

I was enjoying my sleep until I felt someone touched me

When I opened my eyes, I saw Linda staring at the window

“Did you hear that?”, she asked

“What?”

“Somebody is trying to open the door”, she muttered

“Which door?”

She pointed to the entrance door without saying anything

Just then, the door’s handle turned

I wanted to ask who was there. The spirit was willing, but the flesh was weak

The house was well secured, but I was afraid they would open it

I turned to retrieve with Linda to the bedroom, but I did not see Linda

My legs were heavy

Just then, Linda emerged with two knives

She gave me one while she kept one

She held my hand and pulled me to the bedroom

“What should I do with the knife?”

“It’s for self defense. Use it with all your strength”, she added

Immediately we entered the bedroom, someone attempted to open the window

I tiptoed to the kitchen to hide

I was sweating even though the temperature outside was too cold

Then a vehicle drove in and a siren was blasted

It was then they ran away

Linda entered the kitchen to alert me of the arrival of the Police

But, she could not see me

“Where are you? The Police is here”

I was not convince it was the Police, so I stood up from my hideout and gestured for her to come closer

“How are you sure that’s the Police?”

“I called. I called them to come and they’ve just called me that they are outside”

“OK”

I wanted to follow her, but I discovered my short was w-t. I looked at the floor and found some sort of liquid

I touched my short and perceived my hand. Behold, it was urine

When and how it happened, I did not know. Even till today, I have no idea as to when or how I excreted

“Come nah. They are waiting”

I stood there staring at her

She came closer and flashed her torch light, behold, I messed up

She beamed the light on my face and walked away without saying anything

I cleaned the floor and entered the bathroom to freshen up

By the time I came out from the bathroom, the Police was already gone

I checked the time on my phone and it was 2:46am

We went to the bedroom

“I know one of them. He works for Dr Mike”, she said

“How are you sure?”

“I peeped through the window. I thought you were behind me. I didn’t know you ran to the kitchen to pee” she laughed and added: “Tomorrow you’ll say ‘you are a man’”

I did not see that as being funny

“But what is really wrong with this man? Is it by force?”, she added

“You told him you have a boyfriend. Who is he? I’ve not heard you mention him before”, I asked

“Don’t mind me. I have no need for guys now. That’s not my problem. My problem is to get rid of Dr Mike”

We talked about many things that night until we both slept again

At around 6:30am, I got a call from one of my cotenants that my room was vandalized that night

Linda and I went to see the level of damage done in my house

They did not damage much

After all, I had nothing valuable in the house

They only destroyed my padlock

Linda took a shot of the damaged lock as I changed my clothes

We replaced the lock and returned to her place

After we were done with the morning’s activities, we left for school

On getting to the campus, people were already discussing how I was robbed

“We have to see Dr Mike this morning”, Linda said

“It’s a good idea. At least let him know we have come in case they want us today”

I thought Linda wanted to go and find a way of settling the matter, not knowing she had a few surprises for me

Poor me

We proceeded to Dr Mike’s office

He smiled as soon as he saw us

“Good morning my sunshine”, he greeted first

“Good morning Dr”, I responded

Immediately I finished greeting, Linda fired: “With due respect Sir, put an end to this madness. How can you stoop so low to the point of sending armed men to come and attack me in my own house and at night for that matter? What is your problem? Don’t you know what ‘NO’ means? I don’t want it. Leave me alone”

It was a shock to both Dr Mike and I

“Are you addressing me in that manner?” asked the Dr

“In case you did not hear me, I said leave me alone. Stop attacking me and my friend. But in case you choose not to, well then, I will…” she stopped, maybe on realizing that she was addressing her lecturer

“No ooo, finish it. You will deal with me, right? You just accused me of sending people to kill you. I hope you are ready for what is to come! I thought you came here to tell me you have found my phone. Not knowing you came to insult me this morning. Now get out of my office this minute”

I did not even wait for him to complete his statement

I ran outside before another allegation emerged

When Linda finally came outside, I asked: “Was that really necessary?”

“Yes, it was. Someone must tell him to stop this nonsense. Do you know the number of students dying in silence?”

“I agree with you, but I am not ready for this”

“You are not ready for what? Have you forgotten that you will soon be rusticated from this school?”

I took a deep breath, and then she continued

“Wicked lecturers like Dr Mike should have no place in the midst of people’s children”

“And what are you going to do?”

“Time shall tell”

As we walked back to our department, two guys walked toward us

“You see that guy on the right?” asked Linda

“Yes”

“I saw him that night. I know him too well. He works for Mike”

The guy was a public figure in the school

A notorious cultist known by the management

I even heard he was well known by top government officials and they patronize him during elections

That was the kind of people Dr Mike had dealings with
