Melanie’s pov 🧚

*Beep!* *Beep!*

My phone beeped quietly, I stepped out of the bathroom, fully dressed in my beautiful knee length, white gown.

I quickly packed up my hair in a messy bun and reached for my phone, I turned off the alarm and wiped my face.

It’s exactly 8pm, soon Mr Bright would come knock on my door… I heard him and Caldwell talking about going out earlier.

Which has naturally created a smooth escape plan for me, thankfully I didn’t come here with all my things.

All I have here is a small backpack and it’s already packed too!

Like I had expected, there’s a sudden knock on the door.. or you can call it an expected knock.

“Darling, are you still awake?” He asked.

I didn’t reply him, I want him to think I’m asleep already.

“Are you still awake?” He asked again.

I still remained silent, then he sighed deeply.

“Em.. just wanna let you know I’m heading out, I have some business to take care of…”

He trailed off, I can feel he left that sentence unfinished but I don’t care what he wanted to say.

“… I won’t be back until late night, don’t wait up for me. Eat dinner early and go to sleep early” he said.

I rolled my eyeballs, what if I was actually sleeping, who would hear his orders?

“I know you’re awake”

With that I heard his footsteps fading away.

I listened closely and heard the sound of his car reviving to life, I rushed to the window and watched him from there.

He got into the car and drove out of the compound.

I took a deep breath and sighed in relief, it’s official, my escape plan is confirmed.

My phone started ringing, I saw Gabby’s name flashing on the screen and I quickly swiped right.

“Hey, Gabby”

“Lanie, Caleb told me about your plan of escaping..”

She paused, I heard shuffling sound in the background.. like she’s moving around.

“I don’t think that’s a good plan, what if he finds out you escape and come for everything in the convent?” she asked in a panicked voice.

“He’s not gonna come” I told her.

She scoffed.

“You don’t know that, his mind works according to his emotions” she said.

She’s right, Mr Bright does dangerous things when he’s a bad but…

“Believe me, he’s not gonna come”

These past two days I’ve lived with him, I got to understand something about him.. he doesn’t harm the innocent.

Father Reed wasn’t a good man, that’s why he (Mr Bright) killed him.

He’s not gonna punish everyone at the convent because of me, rather he’d hunt me down and deal with me if possible.

“But I still don’t think you should escape, he hasn’t done anything to you yet.. I don’t see the reason for escaping” Gabby said.

“He hasn’t done anything to me but…”

He’s gonna be a stumbling block in my path of righteousness, he’s gonna taint my soul if I continue living with him.

“But what?” she asked.

“Nothing, I just don’t wanna stay here anymore” I answered.

I heard her sighed.

“Fine, I’ll tell Caleb to bring you to my new apartment”

“Your apartment? Why?”

“Dummy! He’s gonna catch you again if you go back to the convent, you should stay where he wouldn’t find you” she explained.

“Oh, right” I agreed.

“Good, I should hang up and send Caleb a text” she said and hanged up.

I shoved my phone in my purse, I carried my backpack on my back and rushed to the door.. I opened it and stepped out, then headed downstairs.

My eyes scanned the wh0le place, no one’s in sight.

Without wasting time, or waiting for someone to come catch me, I rushed towards the main door.. I pulled it open and rushed out.

My eyes zeroed on the gates.

Hmm, taking the main gates would be dangerous, it’s best I leave by the side gate.

My legs found their way towards the side gate, I reached for it and pulled it open then ran out.

A smile appeared on my face when I’ve successfully left the compound, though it wasn’t as difficult as I had imagined it.

I quickly dived into a nearby bush to hide myself, in case Mr Bright or even his maid pass by here.

It’s best I stayed hidden until my getaway car arrives.

Few minutes later…

A car approached me with its headlights on, my heart skipped at the thought of it being Mr Bright.

If he found out I left his mansion now, he’s gonna search for me immediately and he might find me here.

What should I do now?

My phone started vibrating in purse, I reached for it and saw it’s Caleb calling me..I quickly answered.

“Caleb?”

“Mel, I’m here already, where are you?” He asked.

I quickly jumped out of the bush and waved at him, he dimmed his headlights and stepped out of the car, then rushed to meet me.

“Mel” he called me and pulled me into a hug.

“Quick, let’s leave!” I said.

I spent a lot of time waiting for him, who knows if Mr Bright is heading back already.

“Come on” he said and led me to the car.

He opened the passenger door and I slide in, he quickly rounded the car and got into the driver’s seat.

“Thanks for coming to my rescue” I said.

He shook his head.

“It’s fine, Mel, you are my friend and I would do anything for you” he replied.

I smiled, I fastened my seatbelt and leaned back on the seat.

“Gabby, told me to bring you to her apartment.. did she also tell you about it?”

“Yeah, let go, hurry up” I said.

He nodded and started the car, then drove off speedily.
A very long sigh of relief left my mouth, finally I’m free!

Narrator’s pov 🧚

He cowered away from Lucifer, his arms grabbed the pole nearby and he hugged it tightly as though it would save him from Lucifer’s anger.

He shook his head, his fear filled eyes stared at Lucifer’s red bloodlust eyes.. his l-ips quivered as words failed him.

“I.. I.. beg you.. don’t kill me, I.. I…”

“Do you know how important that flower is to me?! Tell me, whom did you sold it to?!” Lucifer snarled loudly in his face.

“But.. it’s.. it’s just a.. a mere flower… ”

Lucifer cut him off with a beast like growl, his words seemed to anger Lucifer more.

He (Lucifer) landed his hand on his face, claws spouted from his fingers immediately and he dragged them along the man’s face.. creating very deep cuts on his face.

“Who told you it’s just a flower?!” He growled.

He landed his hand on the man’s right cheek, also dragged his long claws and created very deep cuts on the man’s face.

Blood started pouring rapidly from the man’s face, but Lucifer didn’t let him go.

Lucifer grabbed his neck and singlehandedly lifted him off the ground, he threw the man at the wall.. making the man’s backbone crack.

“Argh!” the man released a short, painful howl.

“That flower is the lifespan of my woman! If it dies, she dies! It’s not just a flower!!”

Lucifer’s ears pricked up when he heard a baby cry, he looked at Caldwell and nodded at him to go get the baby.

He turned back to the man.

“So…you have a child?”

The man didn’t reply, but his eyes stayed at the direction Caldwell just went.

“Let’s see how you’re gonna feel watching your child die in front of you!”

He snapped his head back to Lucifer at once.

“No, no, no, no.. please I beg you..”

He paused and coughed out blood, he coughed a few times and wiped his mouth with the back of his palm.

“.. don’t.. don’t.. please.. don’t kill my child.. she’s innocent, she doesn’t know her father is a thief.. she’s just three weeks old.. please.. please spare my child..”

Caldwell came back with a very small child in his arms, he also dragged a lady along with him.

The lady quickly fell on her face and started crying, she grabbed Lucifer’s legs.

“Please, sir.. don’t hurt our child.. please, she’s innocent.. don’t hurt her, she’s too innocent.. kill us instead and spare our child.. please.. I beg you”

Lucifer snatched the baby from Caldwell, he raised her and wanted to bash her head on a pole.. but stopped when something occured to him.

He closed his eyes tightly, a image of Melanie flashed past his eyes.. it seemed as though he’s in a trance.

Melanie carried the baby in her arms, she twirled and giggled loudly and beautiful.

*Luci, she’s so cute!*

He simply stared at her, there’s an angry scowl on his face as he glared at the baby in her arms.

*Give her back to me!*

*No! She’s so cute, how about we keep her?* she suggested.

*But she must die! Her father stole from me!*

Melanie smiled at the baby, she car-ssed the baby’s cheek fondly.

*She’s so small and doesn’t even know who her parents are yet, she doesn’t know what lifestyle they are living.. why kill her for her parents crime?*

*Darling, she…*

*Don’t hurt her, let her live.. it’s good to be good* she said.

Lucifer shook his head and came back to reality, he glared at the baby in his hand and inhaled deeply.

“… don’t hurt my baby,.. please, sir.. kill us instead” the man and his wife cried.

Lucifer shoved the baby back in her mother’s arms, he gently pushed them off him.

He grabbed the man’s shirt, then scowled at him.

“I’ll give you one week to find and get my flower back, or there would be no mercy when I come back for you!”

The man nodded his head quickly. Lucifer stared at the deep cuts he left on the man’s face, he sighed.

“You look hideous, you’ll scare the baby”

He covered the man’s face with his palms, after a few minutes he removed his hands and the man’s face is as good as new.

“If my flower isn’t available by next week, I’ll personally send you to hell”

“Yes, sir” he answered quickly.

Lucifer’s eyes moved to the baby, then the mother. He turned away from them and faced Caldwell, he balled his fist.

“Let’s go back, my darling will explain why she’s affecting my judgement!” He growled.

“Yes, Mr Bright”

Then they headed towards the door.

Melanie’s pov 🧚

“Wow! This is beautiful”

I complimented Gabby’s new apartment when we stepped into the living room.

Although this place is kinda small, but it’s well furnished, just as beautiful as Mr Bright’s living room.

“You like it?” Caleb asked.

“Yeah, it’s very beautiful” I answered.

I looked around in admiration, if I wanna live outside the convent, I’d want my apartment to look just like this.

“It took me a long time and a lot of efforts to get this place for Gabby” he said.

“Hm, I believe Gabby would love it” I commended.

A tired yawn suddenly left my mouth, I grabbed a cushion and slumped onto a sofa.

My eyes searched the room for a wall clock, until they landed on it.. it’s already 09:37pm.

“Is Gabby still coming over tonight?” I asked.

He glanced at the wall clock too, then shook his head.

“No, you know there’s curfew at the convent” he replied.

I almost forgot about the curfew, once it’s past eight we aren’t allowed to leave the convent.

“Hm, so it’s gonna be just me in this house tonight” I stated and he nodded.

“But don’t worry, Gabby and I will come check on you very early tomorrow morning” he said.

His phone beeped, he reached for it and stared at it with a frown.

“Is everything alright?” I asked him.

He lifted his head and replaced the frown with a smile, he shoved his phone back in his pocket and shook his head.

“My uncle wants me back right away, I should get going now” he said.

I nodded.

“Alright, I can manage by myself”

“Are you sure you’re gonna be fine by yourself here?” He asked.

I laughed at his worried expression, I reached forward and straighten the frown lines on his forehead.

“I’ll be fine, it’s just a night” I said.

He sighed.

“Alright, I’ll leave now”

“Hmm” I hummed.

“There are fruits in the fridge, in case you’re hungry” he said.

“I heard you” I replied and smiled at him.

He gave me an awkward nod and headed for the door, he pulled it open and stepped out.
My stomach growled quietly, I got up and walked towards the fridge.

I haven’t eaten since afternoon, I’m so hungry and I swear I can eat a wh0le cow now.

I opened the fridge, it’s fully loaded with different kinds of fruits… I don’t even know where to start from.

Hm, this isn’t my house, I should just take a few apples.

Narrator’s pov 🧚

“Young Mr Novo, are we still gonna kidnap her?”

The driver asked Caleb immediately he entered his car.
Caleb looked towards the apartment in silence, he leaned back on his seat.

“No, let’s leave her be for now. I can see she trusts me way more than him, let’s wait until her father’s funeral is over” he replied.

“Yes, sir”

“Drive!” He ordered the driver.

The driver started the car and drove off without asking any questions.

Lucifer’s mansion..

“I’m home, darling”

Lucifer called as he climbed the staircase, he walked towards Melanie’s room and stopped outside her door.

“Darling, are you awake?” He asked.

He was met with silence, he knocked on the door again, this time a little bit louder.

“I have something to tell you” he said.

He still didn’t get any reply, he decided to read through Melanie’s mind.

“Food?”

He turned and glanced towards the kitchen.

“But the kitchen is empty” he said it himself.

He quickly pushed the door open and stepped into the room, it’s empty. He rushed to the bathroom, he pushed the door open and found it empty too.

Then he walked towards the closet, her small backpack is gone missing.

He balled his fist and clenched his jaw.

“F**king me!” He growled.
