✍️CHAPTER TITLE✍️: THE GRUMPY DAMIEN.

The heavy dawn that always exposes the night darkness came. In the lone passage of the mansion was Vera who walked out of Annabel’s room which was just a few walks from her room.

Up until now, Vera was still wondering on the reason why Damien would grant a butler, the privilege to stay in a room that is opposite his.

The mansion is huge and no doubt about it. It comprises many other rooms where she could have stayed, but instead Damien made her to stay here.

Damien doesn’t know her true gender, so it is not possible to think that he might have fallen in love with the butler on the first day she came.

Vera only got punished on her first day at work. Damien made her drink hot coffee, while her tongue got burnt and she had to bear the pain that came with it for a few days without him ever saying ‘sorry’.

Caleb has always been in his usual self since she got here. He doesn’t take his time to count every single mistake like Damien. Neither has he ever rendered her a punishment for doing anything wrong.

Caleb is tolerant. It’s funny that among the three of them, since when it was told about her resigning, Caleb was the only person that hasn’t spoken to her about it.

Vera doesn’t think about him not showing concern about the reason why she’s leaving, as because he doesn’t appreciate her stay with them. Maybe it’s because Caleb likes minding his business intelligently.

Coming to think about Caleb and Andromeda’s latest relationship, Vera needs to find out about everything, and the moment to find out is now.

She stepped into her room and locked the door firmly behind her. It happens that she doesn’t have the right words to say after Damien finishes explaining a few things to her.

Damien had spoken about his sadness concerning her leaving them. A part of Vera was pushing her about telling him. And also, there was a part of her which kept on whispering that it was not the right time to do that.

Vera was confused about everything and wondered if the right time would ever come. She only has a night to spend with them after this. How will she sort out everything before then?

There’s a reason why it’s been said that a decision should be taken after it’s been thought about, right? She has indeed become important to Damien even if he doesn’t say much about it.

Vera can’t expect him to say much about it. Damien isn’t gay, so why would he give himself the chance to think about having attraction towards the butler whom they’ve known to be a man.

Her instinct didn’t tell her that it’s the right time to reveal anything or reveal the truth to Damien. Even if she will tellsl him, she needs to observe how the conversation will be.

Maybe speaking with Annabel about her discussion with Damien, when they went for the meeting by tomorrow. Since she couldn’t get to chat with Annabel because Damien was with them almost every time.

By tomorrow, she would tell Annabel everything and also seek her consent. Maybe there is no reason to leave here like a coward. Especially when Damien had started giving his heart to her, without him even knowing.

Damien would probably be angry for days if he finds out that the princess whom he doesn’t admire dresses up as a man, deceiving him just to win his heart.

If Damien realizes that it’s love that made her do all that, he will forgive her and they will be good together.

If Damien reads another meaning to it, he would send her away and she wouldn’t mean anything in his life.

Whatever the outcome may be, it will bring light to how things are going to end up between them. Although the step that would lead to the initial result is dangerous presently.

“Hummm….” A sigh of confusion left Vera’s lips, where she was searching for her phone. Finally finding it in her drawer, she picked it up and walked up to the bed.

Relaxing her back on the bed while her eyes were staring at the ceiling before they concentrated on the phone because she was exhausted.

Today’s outing was indeed stressful. But whenever she thinks about how it gave her the opportunity to speak with Damien, she would be grateful that today came.

A few taps on the phone then she dialed Andromeda’s number. It took a while until the first dial dropped before Andromeda picked it up at the third dialing.

“And the reason why it took you years before picking up is what??” That was the first thing she said, immediately Andromeda picked up.

Andromeda glared at nothing before answering, “I was not with the phone. Are you my lover that I should be holding the phone around just for your calls?” She snapped.

Andromeda’s eyes stare around the room to cherish the perfection that she has brought into the transformation of Vera’s room. It was a coincidence that Vera called minutes after stepping out of her room, just to behold the transformation of Vera’s room again.

There was no doubt that she and Vera owned this room together once she is back. Andromeda hardly sleeps in her room whenever Vera is around anyway.

After tomorrow, Andromeda would vacate her room to come to stay with Vera and listen to every possible gist that she would bring with her.

“There was no need to yell at me, actually,” Vera tiredly said. Her palm rubbed her smooth face gently. Placing her left hand on the bed for support, since her right hand held the phone to her ear, Vera raised her body from the bed.

She was so tired earlier and couldn’t wait to hear from Andromeda that she forgot to remove her dress. The dress which added to the reason why she was feeling uncomfortable.

“I wouldn’t have yelled if you acted like a normal human. Tell me, have you finished packing your things?” Meda asked curiously while taking a sit on the bed.

Vera rolled her eyes lazily before saying, “I’m not getting married, there was no reason to start parking anything quickly,”

“Stop being a big mouth and just answer my question,” Annabel snapped at her again. Vera could sense the frustration in her voice, and being tired of it, she had to tap her forehead after removing her dress.

They had a few chit-chats afterward, blabbing and almost bullying each other while Andromeda told her about the things that happened during the day.

Andromeda never spoke about anybody coming to visit her and curiosity wouldn’t let Vera’s mind go away from it. When she couldn’t suppress her curiosity anymore she asked, “Apart from wandering around my room, what else happened today?”

“That….” A weird smile surfaced on Andromeda’s lips as she was mesmerized by the memories of what happened earlier.

Thinking about the visitation that took place today, she severally wished that Vera was home to see everything.

The stranger who ended up being Damien’s brother came again to see her. He didn’t just come alone, he came with the almighty Damien.

Although Damien frowned from time to time, she was able to meet him again after a long period. Now Andromeda remembered when her father invited them over for dinner, and Damien bumped into her.

‘Sorry,’ Damien apologized like he never did and immediately left before she could even talk. Andromeda didn’t tell Vera about it because she didn’t see it necessary to talk about.

If not she would have gisted her about Damien whom the maid claimed they saw taking pictures of her after he bumped into her, before she could even notice it.

Aside from the grumpy Damien, the next person she met was their lovely sister, Annabel. The young lady looks gorgeous and every act of her was sweet.

The way Annabel bid her goodbye after winking at her got Andromeda smiling. Even when Annabel dragged her brothers away and Caleb’s eyes set on her, Andromeda smiled harder.

Everything took place too soon that whenever she remembers, she would wipe her face harshly, just to confirm if the Stewarts did come to visit her.

With her also bearing the doubt in mind, Andromeda wondered if Vera would believe her if she told her that Damien had come to the mansion also that she and Caleb were now on talking terms.

Andromeda didn’t know that she had lost herself in thought until Vera’s loud voice jolted her back to consciousness.

“Are you suddenly having a problem with speaking!?” Vera snapped impatiently.

“Shut up and listen. I was only thinking about how to narrate everything and you wouldn’t call it a prank,” Andromeda being affected by how she shouted snapped at her.

“Say it anyhow and I’ll still listen to your gibberish words.” Vera rolled her eyes after saying. Walking away from the wardrobe after her dress has been changed, to put off the light.

She wouldn’t be able to sleep with the lights tonight. Her head aches and the brightness that would come from the light would only worsen the situation for her.

“I told you about the stranger who was with me on the day Brian broke up with me, and I visited the hill, right?” Andromeda asked.

Vera gave it a few thoughts before she remembered. “I remember,” her calm voice said, as she lays on the bed while hoping to grab a good sleep when she was done with Andromeda.

“I was so sad on the night that I didn’t bother to look at his face. Maybe I looked at it but didn’t keep the remembrance with me.” She explained.

“He promised to come see me again after dropping me at home and he found out that I’m a princess. Surprisingly today, he came to check on me again,” she blabbed at the same time smiling.

“I’m listening…” Vera stated, raising her palm to cover the yawn that escaped that mouth as she felt sleepy.

“So today he came and mom came to inform me. You should have seen how she was smiling, Vera. I was so surprised by her reaction that I immediately went to meet with him,” Vera could sense the excitement in her voice.

“I still had confusion on my face until I got to where he was waiting and then I met Damien sitting there,” Andromeda paused.

To flow along without leaving any suspicion, then acting like she doesn’t know about it, Vera exclaimed, “Was Damien the stranger who had helped you?”

“I also became confused, as it couldn’t have been him. I spoke to him but he didn’t reply. Just as I was about asking if he was the one asking to see me, Caleb showed up and before he could even introduce himself, his voice made me know that he was the stranger,” Andromeda fiddled with her hair after saying.

“I get it then. So, Caleb was the stranger whom you met?” Vera murmured like it was her first time finding out about it.

“Of course, yes. It wasn’t that rude Damien of yours who only bid me goodbye because he doesn’t want to offend his sister,” Andromeda ranted and got Vera laughing, after sensing the distastefulness in her tone.

Maybe if they had visited Andromeda after Vera spoke with Damien, his attitude would have been different, compared to what Andromeda was saying about him.

“I’m sorry on his behalf. But was anyone else there with them?” Vera could hear Andromeda hissing, but she still answered.

“I met with their sweet sister too. She didn’t spend enough time with me, but I appreciate her gesture than your so_called Damien who was with us all through but didn’t give a vibe,” Andromeda replied furiously. She doesn’t like Damien’s grumpy attitude.

Vera sighed. She has known a lot about Damien but Andromeda doesn’t. Just like Andromeda, many people would judge him based on his attitude, even when they don’t know anything about his past.

Vera would clarify that when she gets back home. It’s a good thing that she has heard the truth from Andromeda.

It never crossed her mind for a second that Caleb could have been the stranger who was with Andromeda. Damien and Annabel thought that the princess was Caleb’s girlfriend, even Vera was confused at a point.

Vera wondered about the reason why Caleb never told any of them that she wasn’t his girlfriend. Rather, they are just two strangers who met when they didn’t predict and became friends.

Time passed by, Vera listened to everything that Andromeda had to say. Most times, Andromeda kept on talking about Vera’s arrival, and Vera just had to sigh severely.

After the call ended, it didn’t take a long time before Vera met herself in a dream world. A world where all of her worries didn’t follow her to.
