THE PREVIOUS DAY ~ HOURS BEFORE THE KISS

Frederick sat in the Vip lounge of club Diamond thinking about the things Tiffany said to him earlier.

He was deep in thought and didn’t notice Lucas until he sat beside him.

“What are you thinking about? Our client liked the advert and everything went well, you should be having that triumphant look of yours and not this expression” Lucas said drinking his vodka.

“I told Tiffany the truth and she wants to resign” Frederick said out his thoughts.

“It’s for the best. She decieved you and it would be shameless of her if she keeps working for you” Lucas replied sipping his drink when Frederick didn’t give a reply, Lucas turn to him only to see Frederick frowning his way.

“What? Are you angry that I said the truth?” Lucas asked.

“I will prefer you keep your truth to yourself” Frederick snapped at him while Lucas stared at his friend.

“You aren’t angry at me but you are angry at the fact that Tiffany is leaving. Are you in love with her?” Lucas asked.

“I told you love isn’t….”

“Isn’t your thing. I know but I do know that you’ve never acted this way with other girls, not even with Yvonne” Lucas stated cutting him off.

“You got angry at me for starring at her earlier, you got angry for me wishing her out of your life and most importantly after your first date and you were telling me about her, you had this smile on your face, a smile which showed how much interest you have in her” Lucas added mentioning things that Frederick didn’t even think about.

“It seems like you’ve been watching a lot of movies lately, I suggest you quit” Frederick said In return.

“It’s fine if you don’t want to give me a reply but you should try listening to your heart. It will certainly give you the answer you need ” Lucas replied picking up his drink and moving towards the railing.

“F**k! She’s here” Lucas said suddenly.

“Who?”

“Your ex! Sorry dude but have got to leave” Lucas said putting down his glass.

“Why?”

“My mother have always told me to stay away from three things in my life and one of them is crazy people. Yvonne is amongst the crazy type and so…..see you at work tomorrow ” Lucas replied before dashing out of the VIP lounge.

Frederick pick his wine glass and was sipping it when Yvonne walked in.

“Good to see you” She said sauntering towards him, dressed in a short pink gown which showed a lot of flesh.

He found himself comparing Tiffany’s good looking legs to Yvonne and that brought a smile on his face.

“Are you that happy to see me?” Yvonne asked as she took a seat.

“Am just thinking about some thing” Frederick replied just as a waiter came to serve her.

“What are you thinking of? Is it a woman?”

“What if I said yes, will that stop this pursuit of yours?” Frederick asked.

“It won’t. You know it’s my goal to get you back, I won’t hesitate to get rid of the girl you are currently with and….”

“Stop it Yvonne. You say the same thing all the time and am beginning to get sick of it. It’s over between us, accept that and move on with your life” Frederick said cutting her off.

“How can I do that when am in love with you”

“Love? You don’t know what that means. You claim you love me and yet I found you messing around with one of my employee” Frederick said having a harsh look on his face.

“That’s because you kept neglecting me for work, I couldn’t hold back my urge and ended up sleeping with him ” Yvonne replied looking like the victim.

“If you truly had love me like you claim then you wouldn’t have been tempted to hop into some one else bed. Have had a rough day today, have got to go” he said getting off his seat.

“Rough day! I doubt that. I know you are going to meet that girl from the shooting site” Yvonne said referring to Tiffany.

“So you have some one spying on me amongst my employee?” Frederick asked.

“That’s how willing am prepared to go just to get you back” Yvonne declared as she stood up too.

“Then you are only wasting your time. After all I have a new woman in my life” he replied with a smirk.

“I bet she isn’t beautiful, I bet she doesn’t satisfy you the way I do in bed” Yvonne yelled at him.

“About the bed part we are still taking things slow since she’s not a girl who throws herself at men and the being beautiful part…. she’s utterly gorgeous. You can come see her tomorrow to confirm” Frederick said getting Yvonne more angry.

“I just might take up your offer and come see her tomorrow ” Yvonne said holding back her anger.

“Do whatever you want. I stop caring about you a long time ago” Frederick added before leaving the lounge.

NEXT DAY ~ DAY OF THE KISS

As soon as Willow open the door, Frederick got out of the car.

He made his way into the company, he ignored his employee who greeted him but on hearing a familiar voice, he looked up to see Tiffany chatting to some one by her side and the person turns out to be Philip.

Seeing the guy she has feelings for got him feeling a bit angry and instead of walking on, he went towards them.

“You must be Philip right?” He asked Philip who nodded in reply.

“Am honoured you know my name sir” Philip said bubbling with happiness.

“Why won’t I know your name when you are the brains behind the recent advert and thanks to your idea, we made more millions yesterday” Frederick said his gaze moving to Tiffany who had her head down.

“It’s nothing, we all work hard to achieve it and it’s what we are being payed for” Philip replied.

“You are very humble, I sure will treat you to dinner some time”

“I look forward to it sir” Philip replied.

“Okay then, see you around” Frederick said as he walked off.

He wondered why he approach Philip and told him unnecessary stuff.

Is it due to the anger he felt at seeing him with Tiffany but why would he be angry.

Just what is Tiffany to him that he would get riled up at seeing another guy with her.

Could it really be love? Is he in love with Tiffany? He thought putting a hand on his chest.

* “You should try listening to your heart. It will certainly give you the answer you need” *

Remembering Lucas words, Frederick left his office, ignoring his secretary who wanted to talk to him about his next appointment.

As soon as the lift open, he went straight to the cafeteria searching for her.

“Good morning sir! ” Sophia greeted as soon as he got there.

“Are you here for Vivi, she’s not here yet and….”

“Am not here to see Vivi. Where is Tiffany?” Frederick asked his gaze roaming around the room.

“Since we haven’t began our task, she decided to get a little rest. She’s in the storage room” Sophia replied and immediately he went past her, heading to the storage room.

The door was open when he got there and Tiffany had her head on a desk, sleeping soundly.

Just by starring at her, he could feel his heart thumping fast.

He move towards her and slowly touch her cheek, she muttered some thing but she never woke up.

Frederick let out a smile as he kept starring at her.

He has always thought himself to be immune to love and that no girl will get him to feel it but Tiffany changed that.

She made her way into his life and stole his heart.

Her phone began to ring and not wanting to be caught, he left the storage room before she woke up.

Frederick returned to his office thinking of ways to make Tiffany stay in his life when he got a call from Lucas.

“Guess who is here?”

“Am in no mood to guess, so spill it” Frederick replied.

“Yvonne is, and she is making her way to your office. judging by her stance, am sure she’s not going to make things easy for you” Lucas informed him.

“Thanks for the info” Frederick replied switching off his phone.

He was heading back to his seat when he thought of some thing.

That got him heading out of his office and luckily the person he was going to get was out there.

Walking towards Tiffany who had came to give her resignation letter to him, he took hold of her hand.

“Come with me” he said pulling her into his office.

Not letting go of her hand, He trapped her against the wall and towered over her.

” I only came to give you my resignation letter ” she said softly.

“Make it up to me” he said starring at her lovely lips.

“What do you….”

“Instead of resigning, stay and help me out” he said cutting her off abruptly.

“With what?”

“Pretend to be my girlfriend” he said which got her eyes widening in shock.

“You don’t mean what you’ve just said right?” she asked.

“I mean it, Tiffany. Pretend to be my girlfriend ” he said.

“But why? Why must I….”

“She’s here! Pardon me for what am about to do” he said, lifting her by the waist, towards his desk where he made her seat on it.

Before she could say a thing, he pulled out her hair clipper which got her hair cascading down her back and loosening two button of his shirt, he pulled her into his arms.

“From now on, you are my girlfriend” he declared before claiming her lips.

And at that particular moment, the door open revealing Yvonne and his secretary.

” Am sorry for the intrusion sir but she didn’t listen when I told her you had a guest and….”

“It’s okay Milly. I will handle it from here” Frederick replied still holding onto Tiffany.

“Just a moment ” He said to Yvonne before turning to Tiffany.

“I will call for you during lunch hour and give you an explanation but for now, I need to talk to her” he murmured to Tiffany who gave a nod in return.

Helping her off the desk, he walk her to the front door, ignoring Yvonne who kept glaring at the both of them.

“Remember that I will call for you during lunch, so don’t you dare run away” he warned and not being able to resist, he kissed her on the lips again.

“See you later, love” he said before closing the door.

“Why are you here?” He snapped.

“So you really are dating her?” Yvonne asked.

“I plan on doing more with Tiffany and since you’ve confirmed how gorgeous my girl is, I suggest you leave” Frederick said.

“You will regret this Frederick, If am not happy then you won’t be happy either” she said storming out of his office.

“Good riddance” he muttered as he picked up his phone to text Tiffany.

Now that he has begun his plan on making Tiffany fall for him, he should make sure it works out.

LUNCH TIME ~ CAFETERIA

Tiffany was lost in thought fingering her lips, the same lips Frederick had kissed.

Why did he always kiss her? It’s not like he’s interested in her. He hates her for decieving him and instead of getting her out of his life, he keeps drawing her in.

“Come down to earth girl!” Philip voice at the serving counter got her turning to him.

“What are you thinking of that you didn’t even notice my arrival?” Philip asked watching her intently.

“Nothing. Have you ordered your food?” She asked.

“I have, am only here to ask you to join us for lunch” he replied pointing to her dad who was eating at a table.

She was about giving a reply when she got a text.

★ MY CHAUFFEUR IS WAITING FOR YOU AT THE ENTRANCE ★

“Am sorry Philip but I can’t join you” she said pulling off her apron.

“Why? Are you going to see your girlfriends?” Philip teased.

“No. They are busy with their life just as I am ” she replied.

“Then who are you going to meet?” He asked wanting to know.

She’s never been secretive with him before which is why he is persisting in knowing where she is going.

“I can’t tell you exactly who am going to meet but if you must know, am having lunch with a guy. See you later ” She said leaving the cafeteria after giving her excuse to Vivi.

Philip went to join Tiffany’s father who was preoccupied eating.

“Where did she go?” George asked Philip whose thought were filled with the identity of the guy Tiffany is having lunch with.

“She went out to see some one ” Philip replied.

“I do hope it’s a guy cause it’s time for her to get a husband ” George said missing the angry look that cross Philip face.

RESTAURANT

“Thank you” Tiffany said to the waiter as she took her seat while Frederick kept starring at her.

Feeling uncomfortable by the scrutiny, she started the conversation.

“Can you please tell me why you did that earlier?” She asked.

“What did I do? If you are referring to the kiss earlier then I did it….”

“Am not talking about the kiss” she said quickly.

“Fine then. I will get serious” he said having a strict look on his face.

“The lady you saw earlier is my ex. Yvonne cheated on me with one of my employee which resulted to us breaking up but to her , it’s a mistake and she claims to love me wanting me back in her life. Some thing I don’t want” He said.

“Then make it clear to her, there’s no reason for me to be involve” Tiffany stated.

“I did. I made it clear to her but she doesn’t want to give up which is why I did what I did today and it’s not a joke, I want you to pretend to be my girlfriend” he said with all seriousness.

Tiffany was saved from giving a reply when Willow came to them.

“Sorry to intrude sir but the chairwoman is here” Willow said.

“What! Why is she here ?” Frederick asked just as his grandmother walk in.

“I got info that you are here with a girl and so I came to see who she is” Cassandra Davies said starring at Tiffany who suffered another scrutiny.

“Introduce yourself to me” Cassandra ordered and that got Tiffany out of her seat.

“Am Tiffany Clinton” She said.

“And am Cassandra Davies, Frederick’s grandmother” She replied stretching her hand to Tiffany who took it.

“You know you are intruding grandma” Frederick let out in exasperation.

“I know but I still choose to come since am curious about her. She’s also the reason why you left a important meeting yesterday ” Cassandra said referring to the incident which took place at the shooting site.

“But still you….”

“What are you to my grandson? ” Cassandra asked Tiffany ignoring Frederick.

“Pardon?”

“I said what are you to Frederick? Are you his friend, his lover or some one very important to him?” She asked and for a while Tiffany was lost for words.

She was about to give a reply when Frederick spoke.

“She’s some one important to me”

On hearing that Tiffany stared at him only to see him starring at her in return.

The gaze didn’t waver from hers and some how she felt what he said to be true which is certainly not true since she’s sure that Frederick doesn’t feel a thing for her.

“So you are saying you two are a couple?” Cassandra asked bringing their gaze on her.

“We are and so it’s best you stop with the enquiry and leave us alone” Frederick said.

“I will, only when have talked to Tiffany. Leave us alone Frederick” She ordered stiffly.

“What do you have to talk about with her that I can’t be present for?” He asked.

“I plan on having a girl to girl talk with her, so leave us alone or I will take her home with me” Cassandra threatened.

Knowing his grandma to do the things she say, he left them both alone.

He stood pacing around his car a while later. They’ve been in there for long that Frederick keep wondering what they are talking about.

He just hope that Tiffany will play along and not tell his grand mother the truth.

Even though their relationship started as fake, he intends to make it a real one.

The restaurant door open and the two ladies walk out both having a smile on their face.

“You’ve got a charming girl here” Cassandra said to Frederick who stared at Tiffany.

“What did you two talk about?”

“It’s a secret between us girls. Am going to leave you two to continue your date but I will be expecting you tonight for dinner” Cassandra said to Tiffany as she head to her car.

” What did my grandma meant by her last statement?” He asked.

“She invited me to come to your house and I said yes ” Tiffany replied.

“What exactly did you tell her?”

“I just followed your lead and made her believe more lies about us. You shouldn’t have said that to her, it’s one thing pretending to be your girlfriend just to ward off your ex but it’s another with your grandma” She rebuke.

“It’s the only thing I could think of at that moment. Would you have want me to introduce you as my fiancee?” He asked which got her shaking her head.

“No and that’s some thing I know you would never do” she replied.

“Why do you think so?”

“Cause am not the kind of girl you want for a wife and neither am I fit enough to be your wife but anyway this fake relationship doesn’t have to continue. We can tell her the truth during dinner tonight and….”

“Marry me” Frederick said suddenly cutting her off.
