Chapter 18.

Fred 💔

I feel my chest tightened and burn as I see Eva’s eyes water, she runs out of the room before I could stop her.

I chase after Eva but she’s already gone.

I take out my phone and text Jared to send some men after her, I shove my phone back in my pocket.

I raised my head and see Bianca glaring daggers at me, I can clearly tell she is angry.

“I’m disappointed in you, Fred” she said. “I didn’t expect this from you”

She take Roy’s hand and head towards the door.

I wanted to explain why I accepted Carissa but I know can’t, Grayson is lurking around, after all, he is my shadow.

I sighed.

This is Grayson’s plan, I know but I have to play along. I want him to feel like he’s got me where he wanted.

I turn back to Sonia or whatever her name is, she sits on a sofa with Carissa on her lap.

Carissa is innocent, she is just a pawn in this game and I feel so sorry for her, that’s why I’m not gonna make her suffer.

But I must make Grayson and Sofia beg for death.

Sofia smile at me, I also forced a smile on my face.

I carry Carissa, she keeps looking at the two pieces of pizza remaining on the table.

“You want that?” I asked her.

She nods.

I pick one and hand it to her, she smiles and take her bite.

Sonia stands up and stands in front of me, she has a look in her face, I guess she’s trying to look innocent but I swear it doesn’t suit her.

“Fred, I has a long flight and I’m feeling kinda tired, can you please show me to our room?”

“Sure! Come with me” I reply.

I take her luggage and we head upstairs, I start to interrogate her as we climb the stairs.

“So, Sofia….”

“It’s Selene” she corrects me.

I roll my eyes, as if I care about her name.

“Right, Selene…. Where have you been all these while? Why didn’t you come to me when you discovered you’re pregnant with my daughter?”

“Yeah, after our night together, I got a call from home the next morning that my dad is sick, so I rushed back.

But after two months, we couldn’t save him, he died and that’s when I discovered I was pregnant. I tried to contact you, but there’s no means.

So I just decide to wait until I deliver the baby. When Carissa was born I decided to take care of her on my own but there are some things she’d need her father for, so I had no choice but to find you. So… Here I am!”

I nod.

Everything she just said seems like a practiced speech, they doesn’t sound sincere.

And I even doubt Carissa is her daughter.

Maybe I should show her some fake sympathy.

“You’ve being through so much, sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me” I said.

“It’s nothing, you’re here now”

“Right”

I stopped at one of the guests rooms, I open the door and we step in.

She looks around and frowns a little. She turns to me, her pretentious smile on.

“Am I gonna stay here?”

“Yes”

“I thought me and you are gonna stay in the master’s bedroom”

A scowl suddenly appears on my face and I narrow my eyes.

“That room is strictly for me and my wife! You are not allowed to step foot in there!” I sneered at her.

She takes a step back.

“Ok, ok! Jeez”

I just broke my wife’s heart because of her, I can’t deprive her of her right too just for this bitch!.

She takes Carissa from me. I toss her luggage in a corner, I turn around and catch her glaring at Carissa.

I smirk as my suspicions has just be confirmed.

Carissa is not her daughter, she can’t even play her part well.

“So, I’ll excuse you and let you rest well” I said.

“Thanks for letting us in and trusting me”

You wish.

“Of course!” I said and step out.

I shut the door behind me, my phone beep and I check it’s a text from Jared.

*My men couldn’t find her*

My breath hitched.

They couldn’t find her? Where could she have gone?

I guess it’s better I go look for her myself, I head for the door but stops halfway.

I can’t go, Grayson is watching. If he sees me panicking over Eva, he’ll know I’m making a fool of him.

I reach for my phone and text him back.

*Find her by all means!*

Just then I hear thunderclaps, not long it starts raining.

I clenched my fists.

Please Eva don’t be under this rain, I know you’re hurting but I can’t tell you my plans.

I need Eva and Bianca to be clueless to make my plans more convincing.

No sleeping for me tonight.

Immediately Fred left the room, Selene pushed Carissa away from her. Luckily, Carissa lands on the bed.

She reaches out for her phone in her purse. She sent Grayson a quick text.

*Let’s meet up tomorrow,
We need to talk*

Carissa’s pizza falls from her hand on the bed, Selene picks it up and throws it across the room.

She glares at Carissa.

“You’ve stained the bed, it seems like you want to sleep on the floor” she slaps Carissa across her face.

Her fingers print shows on Carissa’s face. Carissa wanted to cry but a glare from Selene shuts her up.

“I can’t wait for this to be over and get rid of you” she said but poor Carissa doesn’t understand her.

She just kept looking at Selene with unshed tears.

Eva 💘

Voices….

I hear people speaking in hushed voices.

I open my eyes and quickly shut them back, it’s too bright. I slowly open my eyes until I adjust to the brightness.

White ceiling is right above me, I turn my head and see white walls too. I frown in confusion.

Where am I? And how did I get here?.

I notice I’m laying on a bed, and it seems like an hospital bed.

I gro-n as I sit up, my head is killing me.

“Hey, Eva you’re awake!” Bree?

I’m suddenly engulfed in a tight hug, but it doesn’t last long as she quickly pull away.

“Eva, you scare the hell outta me!” She said.

“Where am I?”

“A hospital”

“A hospital? What happened? How did I end up in a hospital?”

“Jason brought you here, he was driving by when he saw you lying on ground.

How can you be so careless Eva? What were you thinking walking under that heavy rain?”

She takes my hand and rubs it gently.

“You should be extra careful now in this your condition”

What is she talking about…. Do I have some kind of disease?.

“What condition?” I asked.

Her eyes flick to my stomach before a wide grin appears on her face.

“You should take good care of yourself now that you’re pregnant”

My neck snap to her direction, my eyes grew wide, I can feel it almost bulging out of their sockets.

“What did you say?”

“I said you should be careful… ”

“No after that”

“You’re pregnant”

I shake my head.

No, I can’t be pregnant. Fred doesn’t want a baby, he’ll never accept it.

“I can’t get pregnant, I shouldn’t get pregnant!”

Aubrey frown and look at me in confusion.

“What do you mean you can’t get pregnant?”

“Where’s the doctor, call me the doctor, I need an abortion”

“Are you insane? Why are you talking about abortion?”

One, two, three…. Then it turns into water works.

I start crying. Fred made it clear to me, he doesn’t want a baby with me. He already has a child, mine will be a burden to him.

“Get me the doctor, Bree. I need an abortion!”

“Eva, what is wrong with you?”

“You don’t understand, Bree. I can’t have this baby, I can’t have it”

“Calm down, Eva. Whatever it is that is troubling you hasn’t come to aborting your baby….”

“I want to abort it!”

Chapter 19.

Eva 💘

“I want to abort it”

Aubrey sigh frustratingly, she reaches for phone and starts typing.

I climb down from the bed and meant to head towards the door, but Aubrey rushes to my front and blocks my way.

“Make way, Bree!”

“Where are you going?” She asked.

“To have a talk with the doctor”

“Have a talk with the doctor? About what exactly?”

“Abortion”

“Eva!! Why are you willing to kill your baby? Since when did you become this heartless?”

Just then the door burst open and Bianca rushes in, Roy following behind her.

Worry written all over her face, but all that went away when her eyes settled on me.

She rushed to me and take me in a tight embrace.

“Oh my God! Thank God you are ok” she breaks the hug.

She looks at me all over, I guess she’s looking for any sign of injury. She breaths out in relief when she doesn’t find any.

“I was so worried when you left the house, I looked for you all night”

Well, at least someone care about me.

“I’m fine, Bianca”

She nods and smiles.

But her smile falters when she sees tear stain on my cheeks, she furrows her eyebrows.

“Have you being crying?” She asked.

“Bianca, thank God you are here, maybe you can convince her not to abort the baby” Aubrey said.

Bianca look between Aubrey and I in confusion, her mouth slightly open.

“W-what baby are you talking about?” She asked Aubrey.

“You don’t know she is pregnant?”

Bianca shakes her head, her gaze move to my stomach.

“The doctor said she is 17days gone, how come none of you knew?”

Bianca’s gaze still remains on my stomach before she broke into a wide grin.

“Wow! That’s good news!”

“Yeah, I thought so too, but Eva doesn’t think that way”

“It’s not good news, it’s very bad” I turn to Bianca. “You should understand why I don’t want to keep this baby”

“I know, but it’s yours too. Besides, Fred loves you and i think he’ll be happy to hear you are carrying his child”

I shake my head. Fred won’t be happy, I’m just doing what he wants me to do.

He has always said, that if I get pregnant we’ll abort it.

“Bianca, Fred already has a child, mine will just be useless to him”

“Wait…hold up” Aubrey cuts in.

She looks between me and Bianca.

“Fred already have a child?” She asked.

“Yes!” I answer. “That’s why I can’t keep mine, please you shouldn’t try to persuade me not to”

I start heading for the door, but Bianca’s voice stops me.

I turn back to face her, she comes to me.

I was expecting her to speak but she raised her hand and slaps me on my right cheek. I hold it, I open my mouth to speak.

But she doesn’t let me, she slaps my left cheek.

“What is wrong with you and Fred! I don’t understand you two!

One is accepting a child without confirming the paternity of the child, and the other willing to kill their biological child! What exactly is wrong with you two?!” She asks angrily.

“But he….”

“Shut up, Eva! The two of you are behaving like kids, why can’t you sit down and talk things through like normal adults do!!”

I burst into tears again.

“You will go back home with me and tell Fred about the pregnancy, let’s hear what he has to say” she said sternly.

“But…”

“There is no buts! I’ll go sign your discharge papers”

She takes Roy’s hand and head out. I turn back and sit on the bed with tears running down my cheeks, Aubrey sits next to me.

“It’s ok, Eva”

“It’s not ok!”

“It’s ok, everything will be fine, just stay strong”

I nod. I rest my head on her shoulder and cry my eyes out.

Fred 💝

“Fred, Fred, Fred!”

I hear someone call my name as they shake me.

I open my eyes and looked around, I notice I’m still in the living room and I’m still sitting on the sofa I sat in before.

My eyes zero at the wall clock, it’s 8:16am.

I guess I fell asleep here last night.

Wait… Eva!

I quickly stand up, Sonia is standing next to me with Carissa balance on her h¡ps.

“Sonia, is my wife back?”

I see her do an eye roll.

“My name is Selene and no she isn’t back yet”

What?! She isn’t back yet, then where did she go.

I reach for my phone on the table. I check if any of my boys message me, but nothing.

No text messages, no emails and no calls.

“Fred, I made breakfast”

“Ok!” I answered absentmindedly.

Why haven’t my boys contacted me, or could it be that they didn’t find her?.

“But I won’t join you while you’re eating”

I raised my head.

“Why?”

“Erm…. I have some relatives here, now that I’m back I think I should take Carissa to go see ’em” she said.

Liar! I know she is lying…

According to the story she told me last night, she doesn’t have any relatives in LA.

“Ok, when are you leaving? I can give you a ride” I offer.

I know she’ll deny, I’m just trying to show her fake care.

“No, thanks. I’ll take a cab and I’ll leave right now”

She didn’t even wait for me to speak, she turns and head for the door.

I smirk, I know where she’s going.

I already station some of my boys to keep tab on her since last night, they followed her text last night.

The minute she left, Jared and Jason walks in.

“Boss!”

“Fred”

They greets me.

They made themselves comfortable in different sofas.

“Jared any news about Eva?” I asked.

“Yeah, Jason took her to the hospital”

“A hospital? Why did you take her to a f-cking hospital? What happened to her?”

“When I saw her, she was lying on the ground by the sidewalk and it was raining heavily. So I thought she’d need medical care” Jason explained.

She was under that rain? I guess my actions last night hurt her deeply.

No, I have to see her. I stand up.

“Come on, let’s go to the hospital”

“There will be no need for that!”

Bianca?.

I see Bianca come in with Roy and Eva behind her, Eva’s eyes look dull with dark circles under them.

Her hair all over the place and she look so pale, I can hærdly recognize her.

F-ck!!

What did I do to my beautiful wife…
