CHAPTER TWELVE: WHAT’S BEHIND THE MARK?

For the second time, Arthur has seen the same mark on her back. Like a tattoo drawn down to her wa-ist.

Was that a family belief? Or something to do with the past?

That actually doesn’t look like a scar. That’s actually a thick black tattoo.

He has made few enquires about what such mark means but none gave him a convincing clue. Speaking of the clue, some said that was a tribal mark, some said that was a mark of reincarnation of a past soul back to life and some even said that was a mark of witchcraft.

There was none for him to believe, yet they got him more confused. He once met a witch before, that was six years ago. He had known her because she once saved his life during the war between Atlantis and the Hartman’s.

When everyone thought he was gone, she found him by the lake unconscious with bloods rolling out of his wounds. She cleaned him up and looked after him for days before he regained conscious again.

With the few days he had spent with her, he learnt about what she was and what she was capable of doing. Not to withstand the fact that he grew some feelings towards her which wasn’t a pretence one.

And all the while, never have he seen a black mark which ran across her back like that of Lady Itzel’s. So, that’s definitely not a witchcraft.

Itzel stood at the corridor, staring down at the city. The wh0le city looked big and beautiful. She couldn’t stop admiring the way people chatted happily to each other as they did their business. And nothing made Itzel more happier than this.

Queen Elizabeth watched her with a smile on her l-ips. It wasn’t difficult to believe that her soon was soon going to get married with this Lady.

She had seen her at the ball dance her in Atlantis last year and had mistaken her to be Honoria. Little did she knew that she was the one who will win her son’s broken heart.

She walked further close to her, holding her shoulder. Itzel shivered, “Your majesty, I’m sorry I didn’t notice your presence. Please do forgive me.” She said with her head faced to the ground.

“It’s okay. I really didn’t mean to startle you that way.” She looked outside the window. ” You look pleased by what the people do. I see how fund you are towards them.”

“Look at them, your majesty, they are happy like there is nothing to worry about because they know what kind of King and Queen they have. I have read and heard about other kingdoms, where their people suffer like hell. No food, no shelter, no freedom, no peace but whenever I look at this people, I keep thanking heavens for you and his majesty.”

Queen Elizabeth smiled. “Atlantis is a blessed land so is its rulers. And I also thank the gods for bringing you, my child, you are indeed the right one for this family.”

She again looked outside the window, heaving softly. “I have ordered some maids to purchase some new dress for your wedding. I thought you might need more dress for your wardrobe.”

“My Lady, is that necessary?”

“Most of the clothes in there aren’t attractive anymore. Well, I have ordered Arya to have them disposed immediately. Soon, they will be replaced with new ones.”

“But I still love them.”

“Don’t worry, dear. As soon as the new ones are purchased, you will love them.” She assured her.

“Why can’t I go instead? Ginny can assist me.” She asked, hoping for a positive response.

“As you wish. But don’t you think more escort is needed? I can send a maid or two to assist you and Ginny.”

“I would prefer Arya to assist.”

“Whenever you are ready, let me know. Okay?”

“I will, your majesty.”

She made a stop few steps away from Itzel. “Itzel,” she called, turning to look at her.

“Yes, my Lady.”

“I would prefer you start addressing me as mother.”

She nodded. “Yes, mother.”

“That’s much better now.” She left with a smile.

Itzel watched as the maids discarded some clothes from her wardrobe. Clothes she loves ten times those she wore back at Avalon. They were so beautiful, yet she still doesn’t know why the Queen wanted them all burnt.

As soon as they were done, Arya walked. “My Lady, you sent for me.”

“I did. I want you with Ginny to assist me to the cloth store. I need to purchase new clothes before the wedding. Get everything ready, we will be leaving soon.”

“And Ginny, have you seen her? I have been searching all over the castle for her.”

“She is on an errand, she will be back soon.”

” I see, my lady. I will get going.”

Itzel nodded, returning her gaze at the wardrobe. ‘How much more clothes will have to replace the old ones?’ She thought.

They left for the store. Lady Itzel walked ahead while Ginny and Arya followed behind. Queen Elizabeth had ordered for a ride but Itzel preferred walking instead.

She wore a orange lace skirt and a white elbow level shirt which hung just above her abdomen making her curve wa-ist visible with a black long coat to cover her against the evening cold.

She loved the things she saw and would try to get a glimpse of any that caught her attention. While checking on a leather fan at a store, Arya looked at Ginny.

“Tonight, while her Highess was dressing, I saw a black mark on her back. What does it mean?”

“That shouldn’t be your business.” Was all Ginny could tell her.

“Is that a tattoo?” She asked again, trying to get Ginny talk.

“I said…”

She interrupted. “I know that shouldn’t be my concern but, I was wondering what that could mean. At first I thought it was a tribal design but when I looked closely, it looks like a permanent tattoo. I think somehow you might know about it.”

“I don’t know what it means.”

“You don’t?” She repeated.

“Since I knew her Highess, I have seen it on her but I haven’t dared to ask. Whatever the mark signifies, shouldn’t be our concern. What should be our concern is protecting her Highess.”

“Have you ever thought of what it could mean?”

“That doesn’t matter because it will be impossible to find the answer. The only way to find the answer is to ask. And I am definitely sure you aren’t thinking of doing that.”

“Oh, of course not. I was only asking because I thought you might know something about it that’s all.”

“Then we better focus or else we lose the princess.” Ginny told her.

CHAPTER THIRTEEN: THE WEDDING.

She was on her white lace gown which swept the floor as she walks. She stared out of her window down at the city, the wh0le place was quiet and calm.

Not even a single noise from the children was heard.

Itzel sighed nervously. A knock came at the door.

“Come in.” She ordered and Ginny entered, bowing.

” It’s time, my Lady. ”

” How many are the guests present? ” She asked.

” A thousand of them, my lady. King Cyrus invited all the royals from the seven kingdoms. The hall is really crowded as we speak. ”

She forced a smile on her face. King Cyrus was trying to make the ceremony a memorable one.

She looked at herself at the mirror for the last time. “How do I look?”

“You look gorgeous, my lady. Always beautiful.”

Itzel chuckled. “Let’s not keep the ceremony waiting. Let’s go.”

“Don’t you think you are forgetting something, my lady? “Ginny said and Itzel stopped, turning.

” What is it? ”

” Your hat. ”

” Oh, thank you.” She took it from Ginny adjusting it on her head.

They made it to the entrance door. Itzel stopped again, sighing more nervously.

“Are you alright, my lady?” Asked Ginny.

“Of course. I’m only nervous that’s all. But don’t worry, it’s okay.”

Ginny nodded moving aside. The door opened letting Itzel make her way into the hall. Everyone stared at Itzel as she slowly walked to the front.

Not wanting to look at anyone, her eyes were fixed to Arthur’s until she was now facing him.

THE MATRIMONY BEGAN…

The matrimony was over, immediately the ceremony commerced.

Arthur and Itzel sat at the high table while the entertainment went on. Arthur looked much entertained than Itzel looked.

Well, that was because she has been searching all the hall with her eyes for Hazel.

She had whispered to Ginny to further keep on the search for the hall was too crowded for her eyes to make much effort.

“Is there a problem, m’lady?” Arthur’s voice brought her back.

” No, my Lord. Why? ”

” You look lost. You seem to be expecting someone. ”

” Yes. ”

” If it is so urgent I can permit you to… ”

” No. That won’t be necessary. ”

” If you say so. ” He returned his gaze back to the entertainers.

She looked at her mother who was chatting happily with Queen Elizabeth and at her father who was also busy with king Cyrus. They all looked happy.

She smiled, staring at the well entertained guests. Her eyes caught up with something or… Someone.

It was a figure, covered in a black coat and was staring at her. Why would someone dressed in such outfit be allowed to walk into a ceremony like this? Itzel thought.

Has the guards gotten no eyes to see who it is?

“My Lord,” she called him in a whisper. But as soon as she turned to look at the figure again, it was gone.

Her eyes wΒ‘dened in shock. It was…It was standing right there…with the congratulations.

How could it…be gone?

“Yes,” he answered.

Itzel kept staring at the direction the figure stood, shocked at the sudden disappearance.

“Are you alright?” He asked, concerned.

“I… I… I thought I saw… someone.” She nodded her head, ” Yes…yes, I’m alright.” She faked a smile pretending to be interested in the food before her.

She again, looked at the same direction where the figure was standing… The figure was nowhere to be found.

It was standing right there, she saw it.

And she knew what she had seen.

Telling Arthur at that moment wasn’t the best option. He wouldn’t even believe it even though she gave a hint.

Ginny walked over to her, whispering in her ear. “My Lady, I have found Lady Hazel,” Itzel rise her eyes at her, “she is in your chamber.”

“Okay.” She responded with a nod.
