Episode 29

As I opened the door and stepped out, it was Nneka.
“Aka, are you okay? As I was walking pass, I heard you scréäming..”

“Not really, I.. I’m okay..”

I hastily walked past Nneka to the kitchen side were we won’t be heard.

She followed behind

“Mr Law’s guest, I used to know him back in the hood. We met one of those strange night in a hotel, where I have gone for a høokup..?

“What’s høokup, you mean prøstïtütīon? Nneka whispered with a surprised face.

“More like it but I wasn’t into one. A neighbor talked me into it for that night and I decided to give it a try but I couldn’t do it. Tobe was the first client but I begged him not to hurt me and he didn’t..”
“…I thought he actually meant well for me until I happened to meet him again and he started demanding for intimacy and I couldn’t do that. I asked him to give me time to think it through. That was the last I saw him before coming to work here..”

“…I never knew he was the new guy doing maintenance on Mr Law’s car, I took him to his room and he held me, saying that I owe him and he must have me by force before he leaves here..”

“,He lie, that guy won’t do shït. whatever his name is, I don’t care but if he messes with you then he’s messing with me too…”
“… I believe you Aka and I’m taking over this fight from here. I will be serving him, make sure you stay clear off him. let me see how he will come and force himself on you. He’s so shameless..” Nneka said, obviously taking over the fight from me.

“…I would have suggested you inform Mr Law but that kind of boy may have something hanging on his sleeve. He will try to counter everything you say with the evidence of meeting you in a hotel for høokup or whatever it is. Lay low in your room and don’t show yourself, I will be at his service anytime he need to be attended to. Is just two days and he will be be gone from here…”

“Thank you Nneka…” I replied. She nodded and I walk to my room to relax from everything that happened.

Nneka later brought dinner to me while I was in the room.

“I told Mr Law that you’re not feeling strong. That mechanical, Tobe boy kept asking of you but I informed him that you’re not available and if he needs anything, he should tell me…”

I thanked Nneka and ate my dinner, had a cool shower before going to bed.

The following morning, I got ready for the day but didn’t step out of the room immediately.
I said a short prayer that everything will go down well.

Nneka must have left for the market because she’s the one that mostly go shopping for the house things every weekend.

Mr Law will only give her money and she will go to the market and will make sure she gets everything needed both for kitchen and the entire house wares.

I was already on my way out to start my day work when Kamp came knocking

“Since Nneka is off to the market, can you try to assist around the house? Nneka previously informed us that you’re not well, I hope you’re feeling better this morning…”

“Sure Kamp, I’m doing alright. Thanks for asking. I’m right behind you..”

I went straight to the kitchen to wash off all the used dishes but found out that Sylvester had already done that and was busy making breakfast.

I chat with him a little before leaving to clean, sweep and mob the house which has become my daily routine job.

While at it, Mr Law who was just leaving his room saw me cleaning.
I greeted him as usual

“I can see you’re feeling better this morning..”

“Yes sir..”

“Good! Tobe, my guy is not yet out. Can you make the chocolate tea with some toast to his room..”

“Ooh.. okay sir..” I said dryly and defeated.

“Is everything okay..” he suddenly asked

“Yes, sure sir. I only wanted to say that your friend may decide to come out to the dining for breakfast instead, I don’t know if he’s up yet…”

“Yes, he is. I guess he enjoys your service and personally requested that you send it in for him. I don’t know why but I love to make my guest very comfortable. Tobe is not exception..”

“Alright sir..”

“Can you hurry up with that. You need to help Sylvester set the table and my room needs cleaning..”

I nodded and went on my way to do as he instruct.

I took Tobe’s breakfast request to his room.
After double knocking and was instructed to come inside.

He was on his bed, the duvet was covering him from his waist down
He was with his phone.

He asked me to bring it to his bedside and I hesitated.

“Listen Aka, about yesterday, I might have over did things and I’m sorry. I didn’t means for it to turn out the way it did. such thing never happened before in my life, I don’t force women to be with me. I was only pissed because you were proven stubbørn.. I’m sorry..”

I nodded quietly.

He stood up from the bed, he walked up to me.

“If you’re really sorry, can we maintain a clear distance please…”

“I don bite Aka and won’t hûrt you. I said I don’t know what came over me yesterday and it won’t happen again. I was really angry for many reasons and I’m sorry if I hürt your feeling in anyway..”

He was just on a tight undies without a top
The undies exposed the whole shape of his mânhøod and I had to quickly look away.

“…I just want a simple hug..”

He collected the breakfast tray from my hand and dropped it on the table.

He gently try to pull me close to himself but I made attempt in walking to the door.

He draw me back, held my shoulder.

“Aka, I really like you. Stop doing this to me. I want you clearly but the more you reject me, the more I feel stûpíd. I only asked for a kiss nothing more.. you can go after then..”

“Tobe, please I can’t..”

“Why not? I didn’t ask you to sleep with me. I only asked for a simple kiss Aka and I promise to let you go..”

He bent over and kíssed me but he didn’t let me go.
Instead he moaned out loud as he held me tight to himself, grabbed my bøøbs and pushed me to the bed.

I fell and quickly try to get up but he descended on me like a rock.

I try to scream but he held my mouth.

“Please Aka, you’re driving me cräzy already. I’m going to be gentle and quick. The more you struggle, the more I want you. All I was thinking about all through the night is you, I try to deny it, but I really can’t think straight when you’re close to me..”

I try to plead and fought but his pants were off in no time and there stood his mânhøod, uprightly pointing at me.
He try to get under my gown and pull off my undies but I kept fighting him, making it difficult for him to have access.

“…I promise not to tell Law about your hoøk up business or reveal your true identity to him. I’m going to take you away from here and we will be together. You will never lack or work for any man. I promise..”
“… just relax and I promise you will enjoy it…”

“Get off me Tobe…”

I began to scream but he pressed his hand hard on my mouth.

I fought and struggled, I used my leg to kick him hard.
He released a silent scream.
I try to get up but he came back at me.

I threw another pünch to his face, he startled in pâin and rëtåliated with double of his.

I began screaming but he held onto my mouth again.
We føught roughly on the bed untill the door suddenly flew open.

Somebody opened the door and hurried inside like a speed of lightening

This time it was Mr Law.
“What the fvckk is going on here..”

“What is going on here I ask again..?” Mr Law said añgrily.

Tobe quickly try to wrap up himself with the duvet on the bed.

I was panting so hard, struggling to relax so that I will be able to speak.

My cheek bone hûrt, one side of my face was so swollen due to the double blow I got from Tobe after throwing the first punch to his face.
Mr Law turned to me.

“Sir, is Tobe..he was trying to pin me down on the bed and forcefully have his way, I refused and had to fought hard to be able to..to escape…”

Mr Law raised his eyebrows, I’m not sure he believes but why won’t he, he saw Tobe’s pants were off when he came in before Tobe rushed to cover up.

“You’re trying to take advantage of my staff Tobe? You want to räpë her..?

“Is that what it looks like to you Law? Oh, well..I don’t blame you for thinking such after seeing my nåkëd ås$. If I wanted to do that, I would’ve done so right from the hotel were I met this prøstîtüté..”

“What! Do not dare call her unprinted names in my presence, Tobe..” Mr Law warns añgrily.

“It is what it is man. maybe you don’t do background check on your workers before employing them..”

“What are you talking about..” Mr Law asked confused.

“This b!t¢h is a s€x worker, Incase you’re not aware. I know we only met about four months ago through my company manager who told you about my good credentials and we’ve been cool ever since, you know how I run my parole and live my life. I don’t have anything to hide here. For pleasure sake, I usually go for private høokup instead of street girls and one of those nights, she was one of the girls that gave me an all night service and we picked up things from there..”

But instead of asking me the questions, he focused his eyes back on Tobe.

“What do you mean by mishandled? I did nothing with her…”

“Really, but her Face is swollen and this is my house Tobe, you’ve no right whatsoever to lay a hand on my domestic staff. If she misbehaves around you, all you needed to do was to come to me. You føôlishly punched her face Tobe.. how dâre you..?

“Waa.. wha.. what are you talking about Law? Are you taking her side after everything I just told you? I paid her for a s€x service which she refused to render. Aka and I, both had a thing together and you can confirm all of this from her, she’s right here. That will atleast prove to you that I’m not actually the d€vil here. She’s a liâr and a pretender, dëcéiving you while acting like a good girl, she’s into men, she’s a night prøstîtüté. You don’t know that she sneaks out at night to go meet men? you are actually accommodating a real street girl and I know you’re not very familiar with the way things are done here..”

“… permit me to tell you that she’s only a wølf in sheep clothing. You may not have anyone to teach you the way things are done here, you said you only got your Dad back in this country but he may know nothing. That’s why I gat you my man and this girl is not what she seems, believe me..”

Mr Law was quiet and I thought he was actually listening and was already convinced but he came again at Tobe.

“When you’re done ranting like a mad wølf, you tell me why you will lay a hand on my domestic staff..”

“Who cares if she’s beaten or striped, she’s only a maid..”

“That’s where you got it wrong Tobe, I care. She’s under my roof and under my protections too. If you have unresolved differences, you should have come to me instead of béating her up. Wørst could’ve happened if I haven’t showed up. Are you crâzy? Can you see how you almost disfigured her face? Her face is all swollen Tobe, how dâre you do this, I trusted you and that was why I invited you to my home. Pick your things and get out of my house immediately”

“Woah, this is outrageous. Very funny.. really Law? You’re really defending this girl? Did you know she hit me first? Aka, actually threw several punch to my face and I only slåpped her a little. She did worst to me than what I did to her..”

“…oh! let me guess, you’re also scrëwing her too right? That’s the only explanation to your ánger. You’re getting down in her panties and don’t want another man there..”

“Wait.. whaaat? What did you just say? Mr Law retorted. The accusations must have hürt him deeply.
He moved close to Tobe with a tightened fist.

“Don’t come any further Law, keep off, I will leave your house peacefully. I’m a mechanic, I work on cars, engines and tyres, i have an iron fist which I won’t fail to use if you attack me. I only gave Aka a little and her face is all swollen, I will give you much more if you dâre try to…

He was still talking when Mr Law blow his mouth, knocking him out of the bed unexpectedly.
The duvet he used to wrap himself fell off.
Before Tobe could get back his balance, Mr Law gave him another right on the cheek.
He fell back back to the ground

“You’re so disgusting man, get your fïlthy things out of my house, I’m calling the cops right away. I’m a software engineer and a UK trained karate fighter. I will béât you blue and black if I return here in the next minute and you’re still in this room..”

He dragged me roughly out of the room.

He walked away, leaving me by the corridor.
He never said a word to me.

Other workers who heard the Loud noise and exchange of words were standing around but ran off to their different positions immediately they saw Mr Law.

I saw Nneka, she was just coming back with the driver

She saw my swollen face and Mr Law’s who añgrily dashed passed her.

“What happened.. what’s going on..?
She asked in a whisper.

I informed her that is Tobe again.

“Jesus! He did this to you or was it Mr Law..?

“Tobe did..”

“What! He was so lucky that I wasn’t around. I would have used a mortar péstle to bréak that his coconut round head. Hope he didn’t force himself on you..”

“He tried to but Mr Law came to my rescue and he béat up Tobe..”

“Hey! I missed a lot. I shouldn’t have gone to the market today. I miss a whole lot of drama. Tobe must have told him about the hoøkup thing right?..”

“He did but Mr Law surprisingly didn’t react instead he was more after why Tobe will raise a hand on me and try to hûrt me in his house. Mr Law shocked me but I don’t know what awaits me, I don’t know my fate right now and that scares me even more…”

“Relax, don’t be scâréd. Mr Law won’t sack you if that’s what you’re afraid off. He obviously likes you and won’t dismiss you but he may be angry with you for whatever Tobe reviewed to him and I really can’t predict his actions towards that but don’t be afraid, I will try and speak to him.. Okay?

I nodded quietly with a heavy sigh.

I was greatly disturbed.

I heard the police siren, in no time Tobe who was already well clothed was escorted out of the house by two police in uniform.

He has a swollen lips and that must be where Mr Law púnched him.

He was seen signing some papers outside before driving out of the compound with the police.

Nneka and Sylvester helped me with my face massage.

I didn’t see Mr Law all through that day.

I was afráid and kept praying.

Night came, I sat in the kitchen waiting for judgement or whatever he has in store for me
He asked Nneka to fix a strong cup of coffee and bring it to his study, the library.

She did, when she returned I asked her if she was able to speak to him and she said she tried talking to him but he send her away.
My heart skipped.

I couldn’t sleep that night as I kept thinking of the fate awaiting me.
