“I took my phone and dialed Granny’s number, I know dad wouldn’t take my side. But I’m sure granny would.

She didn’t pick up but I left a message for her telling her all that’s been happening in the house.

I need you to take me to a restaurant, I’m really hungry. I don’t care if I get to school late. I said to the driver

I was about entering the restaurant when dad’s call came in and it’s even video call.

I ignored it at first but later answered it when I was about to start eating.

“Hello princess” he said smiling at me. “Good morning dad” I greeted perfunctorily.

Sweetheart are you still mad at me, you replied perfunctorily, c’mon you know I’ve pleaded to you, I’m sorry dear I’ll be back soon… He said

I’ve heard you and I’m not mad at you anymore, just make you get back on time, the house is boring without you… I replied

I’m in a restaurant, I had to eat out because of what the damn Nanny you hired for me did, and right now I’m running late for school because I can’t go to school with an empty stomach… I replied

Dad she made me eat out and you know how much I hate eating out without you.

Wow I’m sorry about that dear, just forgive her but what exactly did you do that made her do such I’m sure she wouldn’t have done that without a reason…

Alright dear, I’m sorry about that once again just make do with it, you’ll enjoy better when I return.

Hurry up so you won’t get to school too late but make sure you don’t rush your food because you’re getting late so you won’t choke. He added.

“Alright, bye dad” I said and waved at him.

I got to school pretty late but I wasn’t punished because dad had called the school before my arrival.

The mathematics teacher was already in the class before I entered so I had to pass through the back door so he wouldn’t see me.

Why did you come late? My friend Belinda asked in a whisper. “I’ll tell you later” I whispered back and the teacher caught us.

I was squatting under the chair, looking for my pen… I lied and some of us let out suspicious coughs, I shot them deadly glares and they composed themselves.

“I’m not sir, this is the pen I was looking for ” I said showing him by raising it up… Linda tutted at the lie I just told which seem like the truth.

So what was the reason you came to school late? Linda asked as we returned from the cafeteria.

Wow! It’s gonna rain soon, the weather’s changed. I said in excitement as I stared at the sky.

I so much love playing under the rain, lord please bless us with rain it’s been a while since I played under it.

“That isn’t what I asked you, I’m sure you know that” Linda said snapping me out of my thought.

Oh! I’m sorry about that I’m just so eager to play while the rain pour on me.. I said and narrated everything that happened to her afterward.

Today’s Friday so the school activities ended earlier than usual. I feel so sad to know I’ll go home to meet that annoying Nanny at home.

I decided to go over to Linda’s house to spend the rest of the day before returning home in the evening.

“Thanks” I said to the driver for bringing my cloth after texting him. “Don’t forget to come pick me by 6 in the evening” I added

“Let’s go girl” I said to Linda and we ran over to where their car is parked.

“Good afternoon ma’am ” I greeted her mum as we entered their house

Afternoon darling, how was your day at school? She asked us

We both replied fine, she took us to Linda’s room and asked us to take a shower while she go prepare our lunch.

We did what she told us to and we went to take lunch afterward.

I really did enjoy myself at her place especially how I had the chance to play under the rain just like I had hoped for earlier, dad doesn’t allow me try it despite how much I love doing it.

I got back home over excited after having a very good time together with my best friend and her mom.

I went directly to my room ignoring everything the Nanny said when I entered.

I talked to Linda and her mom on Skype when I finished taking a shower.

Bye dear, have a good night rest and don’t forget to keep your promise of coming to keep my company tomorrow I said to her lastly before ending the call…

Dad was the last person I spoke with before I went to bed.

It was in the middle of the night and I was already fast asleep when I suddenly started feeling heat, I was forced to open my eyes because I find it so hærd to sleep because of the heat.

I’ve never slept without convenience.

I opened my eyes but I received the shock of my life when I saw a feminine figure on me about to strangle me.

I tried reaching for my pepper spray but she was quick to grab my hand.

She held it roughly and strangled my neck.

I tried so hærd to scre-m in order to call people’s attention but I couldn’t and after much struggle to free myself, I gave up because her grip was too tight.
