Nadia!
Episode 11
”Carry her, carry her let’s take her to the hospital, Nadia could hear the voice faintly but could not open her eyes, her heart was beating fast, she felt the hands carry and lift her up, she somehow knew that she was placed in a car, she didnt want to go with them but she didnt have the strength or power to argue, so she just lay still until they drove off.
The news had gone round that Nadia was hit by a run away driver and some good Samaritans have carried her to the hospital. Ruth who had ran out far into the bush to cry for her life had no idea of what was going on. After spending some time in the bush and realizing that this was not the solution to their problem, she decided to go back home, she would beg Nadia to forgive her and she will promise to always listen to her from today and never argue ever again with her. Together they would heal. And so she got up and walked towards home. But just before she could leave the school environ, she saw one of Nadia’s course mates who knew her as Nadia’s sister. ”Are you not Nadia’s sister? ” the girl asked, and Ruth shook her head in affirmative. ”Where have you been? Almost everybody has been looking for you.” Ruth looked her for sometime to ascertain if she was talking to her or someone else. Who is everybody? Ruth asked and why is everybody looking for me? Ruth asked again. This time the girls shook her head sadly and said to herself ” she doesn’t know” know what Ruth asked again. ”Well your sister, the medical one she said demonstrating as if to describe Nadia to Ruth, but Nadia interrupted shouting ehn! My sister ehn! What happened? Your sister was hit by a hut and run driver and he left her to die and drive off. What?Ruth shouted, which sister? Whose sister?/where, when, who,how, the girl pointed to the direction of the accident as Ruth took off, running to the place. When she got there she was told some guys have taken Nadia to the hospital. Nobody knew the boys or what hospital they took Nadia.
Meanwhile. Nadia gradually regained consciousness. Her head was bandaged, she looked carefully at where she was, she remembered the accident and the rescue, but this does not certainly look like a hospital, where was she. She couldn’t tell, and so she called, hello, is anyone here, but nobody answered. She tried to open the doors to see if anyone was in, but the door was locked. She could still feel a sharp pain in,side her head, and so she went back to the bed and laid down. Hours later the door opened and a nurse walked in, she smiled as she offered Nadia a glass of water. ”Thank God you are awake, your brother was beginning to worry”, my brother? Nadia asked. Yes, he brought you here after the accident and called on me to check on you, I had wanted him to let us take you to the hospital but he refused and said I should treat you here. Now that you are finally awake, my work here is done. She checked her bag and brought out some medicines and gave them to Nadia. Take these drugs in two to three days you will be up and jumping. She turned to leave before Nadia asked. Nurse please how long have I been here? And why do I feel so weak and dizzy, its because you had a big injury in your head that is healing gradually, and so you must rest very well so you won’t become unconscious again. And you’ve been here for 6days now she said before turning and walking away. Nadia wanted to still talk to her but she already left and so she just closed her eyes and slept off.
By the time she opened her eyes it was morning and age felt better than the previous night. She got up and went to the door, hut it was still locked from outside, she started calling out to whoever was there to come and open the door, after shouting for some time without getting any response she became confused, she went and sat at the bed and was wondering how she got there, what brother, 6 days, where was Ruth? How come she wasn’t in the hospital? Her thoughts was interrupted by the door that was opened. A tall dark and scary looking guy walked in. ”Finally you are awake he said. ” Nadia knew she has heard that voice before, but could not remember where. Please sir, who are you? Where am I ? Please I want to go home. ”Shut up” was what she heard. ”Go which home? The money when I don spend take treat you, who won pay?” Suddenly Nadia recognized the voice, its the same guy who had raped her days back. Fear suddenly gripped her as she stammered…… ”Sorry sir, I I I will pay you she managed to say, the man laughed a wicked laugh, pay me with wetin? Anyways, I just come confirm say you don wake as that yeye girl don collect my money go, I day go for now, better try and think of who you go call to come bail you from hia o, I nor won trade bad market o, better day crack that your damaged head o, so that I nor go help you damage am pass as e don already damage o. He turned and walked away. The pain in,side of Nadia’s head increased. What is happening? How did she get here? And what was this man doing here? She knew she was in for big trouble.
Episode 12
Nadia didnt know when she slept off, but not as suddenly awokened by the strong tap on her back. ”Wey you, open your eyes jhiir, you never well, abeg open your eye. Nadia managed to open her eyes she was very weak. She saw a plate of pap and one cube of sugar and one slice of bread. ”Take eat make you nor say I use hunger beat you, he pushed the plate of pap to Nadia, Nadia was very weak and hungry and so she collected the food and started eating. Two other guys stepped in, Nadia didn’t say anything she just assumed it was the entire gang that had come to Rob them. ”How she day? One of them asked, na she you day see so o, she don release any number for you? The third one asked, ”no o, she just day wake up so. He turned and faced Nadia who was still face down eating, wey you? See we nor day sabi keep person tay for here o, so make you quick give us phone number make we call them make them pay for your ransom make you for fit go house.
Nadia started crying again. ”Please sir, am an orphan, I have no one, nobody, please let me go I beg you. Before she could finish her statement a hot slap landed on her face. The big black guy looked at her and said, ”you feel say we day joke abi, you feel say na play we day play with you abi. Nor let me beat you o. Just call your papa number or your mama number, just cooperate so that everything go go well and everybody go happy. Nadia explained again, that she was an orphan and had nobody to call. But the guys insisted that she was a liar, that they know her dad so well and how he travels anyhow to different countries, a big business tycoon that rented and furnished such a fine house for his only child. Nadia immediately realized that they had mistook her for her friend. She tried to explain to them but they were too adamant to believe her, they started hitting and beating her. Her bandage came off and she started bleeding from her nose and mouth. It didnt take much time before she passed out again.

Its been over two weeks since the sudden disappearance of Nadia, Ruth had gone from one hospital to the other looking for Nadia, she had gone home to mama and together they’ve gone from one mortuary to the other, nobody knew where or who took Nadia. Ruth had become a shadow of herself, she has started going from one church to the other seeking for prayers for Nadia. Mama called and informed frank that Nadia was missing, and they’ve gone to the police who were also in search of Nadia.
Frank suggested that they print her picture and put it in different places around the school and in the town and that was exactly what they did. But still there was no news of Nadia. Ruth had gradually lost herself, she had stopped going to class, she no longer talks to anybody, she would just sit staring into the empty space. Frank told Mama to move Ruth over to her house so that she can be observed and monitored closely. Ruth was gradually losing her mind. The disappearance of Nadia had more effect on her than she could fanthom.
Meanwhile Nadia had become terribly sick from lack of care and food. The boys have since stopped giving her food since she couldn’t give them any phone numbers to call, they turned her into their s€× machine. Every night each of them would come and rape her one after the other, sometimes she would pass out but they didnt care. They will satisfy themselves and push her aside. She had giving up all hopes of getting out of this place alive. And tonight she was feeling dizzy her eyes were heavy, her head was heavy, she felt pains all over, she no longer cried or begged because she knew she was dealing with mean men. She was expecting them any moment because they never fail to come and rape her every night, she started praying silently to die and join her parents, she couldn’t stand another night of torture, but it seems even death had abandoned her, for the guys came in one after the other staring angrily at her.
She saw her neckchain with the big black guy, she has been seeing it in him for days now, now all she wished for was to touch the necklace and die with it. And so she made up her mind to collect it tonight. As usual they each had thier turns with her and when it was the turn of the black guy she gathered the last strength she had and she held onto the necklace, it was not easy but she managed to collect it from him before passing out once more. By the time she woke up, they were already gone, but the neck chain was still with her, she looked at it and cried, ”mother I am now ready to join you, please take me with you, I don’t want to live anymore, just let me die, please God let me die! Hot tears flowed from her eyes as she shut them tight waiting for death to take her……
