CHAPTER 25

“The dangerous beast curse of Orrander. Six hundred years ago when our ancestors left the seven gracious beast they once worsh¡pped, to the great mother of Orrander, the beast got angry and placed a curse on our poor land, but the mother beast being with us and on our side assemblaged the curse and all of the other rule the seven gracious beast had executed, but as years went by, our great mother of Orrander seemed to might have forgotten us, for the ways of the beast started again until the curse. The beast curse is dangerous as it sounds, and according to the older scholars and researchers, this is what they have all witnessed and written down about what they have seen those inheriting the curse exhibit.” The Royal researcher and observer Gartmore explained, trying his best to sound sharp as he stood in front of the king and queen.
“Doesn’t this mean that Orrander belongs to the seven beast and not the mother of Orrander.?” The queen squinted her eyes.
“Oh my queen, do not spit absurd words, for you could get punished by our great mother of Orrander” The kings snapped.
The queen rolled her eyes and turned back to Gartmore.
“So…? Please go on with your explanation Gartmore, tell us, how you think this curse can be broken, this is why we summoned you here, after passing that news to Cornelius” The queen smiled.
“Your Highness, first, according to the first five researchers who have managed to put down something about the curse over the years, which I have added together, according to the beast curse. A person who inherits this curse, will never see daylight if the curse has manifested fully” Gartmore explained.
“Manifestation? Elaborate!” The king leaned forward.
“And never see daylight, what is that supposed to mean?” The queen was getting scared.
“Never seeing daylight explains to how it sounds your Highness, Being infected with the curse means darkness, you see nothing but darkness and negativity around you, you hate the things that are supposed to make you feel life. For example you hate flowers, sunset, rainbows, the little things that makes us feel alive makes the cursed Inheritances feel shallow and irritated, they want to be alone, obscure, shadowed. They love darkness and never want to see light, if that doesn’t explain never seeing daylight, I don’t know what is your Highness” Gartmore bowed.
“And what about the manifestation?” The king asked.
“Your majesty, the ones who inherits the beast curse, passes through three stages of the curse manifesting and the first stage, Is surely anger, some get to the third stage at early age and become more of a monster than the seven beast itself. The first stage is anger, second Is wrath and third stage is livid madness” Gartmore cleared his throat. “Excuse me your Majesties”.
“I don’t mind, please just go on with your explaining” The queen beckoned.
“Livid madness? I’ll be damned.!” The king shook his head.
“That is the most dangerous stage of all your majesty, it’s dangerous for the inherited and the people around. The first case of a girl with the curse mark who got to that stage two hundred years ago, wiped out an entire village, killing them all and killing herself in the process, think about it, wrath, demented and madness mixed in one’s blood. That is beyond dangerous” Gartmore expounded.
The Queen breathed out an unbalanced breath. “And what stage do you think my Hasting is?”
“According to the reports I have gotten about his highness, he is at the stage of wrath, he has of course murdered a few people, he is just eighteen and I hope his curse doesn’t fester to the point of livid madness, he doesn’t put on a shirt, now that is one exhibition of a cursed marked. The cursed ones are filled with wrath in every nook and cranny of their bones, their body boils to how angry they are, but your majesties, do you know That the cursed one smiles?” Gartmore asked.
“Smiles? I don’t understand!” The queen shook her head.
“According to a researcher whose child was amongst the cursed ones, he stated that, one day he tried to show his son light and all the things life could offer. He said he felt his son smile on the in,side but what his expression could tell was nothing but anger. Now you might be wondering how he knew his son was smiling on the in,side, his son, just like how wolves, dogs have habits of wagging their tails when happy, his son had a habit of twitching fingernails when happy, his father noticed that before the curse started manifesting, and he was only eleven years old when he got to the stage of wrath, his father could tell he was happy, despite having a furious look while his fingers twitched, you see, the little boy was happy, but his happiness was clouded with fury and after seeing the light his father showed him, the next full moon, the little boy got to the final stage. And why? Because his father triggered something he shouldn’t have. The beast curse wants the hosts to feel nothing but darkness and lonliess. But your majesties, we will say no to that” Gartmore smiled.
“Your son do not need an okay potion or a magic spell to feel better, or an appeal to the seven beasts of Orrander, his highness needs life itself, the brightest and beautiful things angers the cursed ones. But according to what I think, the curse needs to be triggered the most. To those who have been afflicted with the curse mark, I suggest we trigger it and they fight with the beast within them, and to those who are yet to begin any stages of manifestation, we make them see and feel light, no sign of darkness around them, they need to feel loved, wanted, adored and special.” Gartmore bowed..
“I’ll take your decision into thinking Gartmore, you’re excused” The king sighed.
“Thank you, your majesty, there is more I want to explain but I’ll take my leave first” Gartmore bowed before walking away.
“My poor dear Hasting!” The queen sighed. Placing her hand on her chest.
