Writer’s pov

GRASSI’ VILLA.

Are you living in Ghana, need to buy stuff online? famirac.com is the best option.

Mr Grassi stared at his wife with an offended frown, his eyes were focused on the space between them and his grip on the spoon he was holding tΒ‘ghtened that it could bend any second.

His wife was sitting at a distance of two chairs away from him, she was focused on her food and doesn’t seem to notice his anger, or maybe she doesn’t care -she doesn’t even make the slightest mistake of glancing his way.

He slammed his spoon on the table angrily hoping to catch her attention, but he failed since she played deaf and continued with her food.

“You’ve been acting weird since two days, what’s going on?” He barked out when he couldn’t hold it in anymore.

But as expected, she didn’t reply him and irked him. He clenched his jaw to hold back his anger.

“I checked the CCTV footage last night and realized Matilda visited us two days ago..” he paused and studied his wife’s expression, but she was expressionless and simply replied him with an…

“Oh”

“Yes, what was it about?” he asked again.

“Nothing”

“It didn’t look as if it’s nothing in the footage, you both seemed to be having a serious conversation”

She stopped eating and leaned back on her chair, she stared at her husband briefly then burst into a sarcastic laugh.

“You know what, your sins are catching up with you now and it’s better you tell your nephew about them before it’s too late”

Mr Grassi’ brows furrowed in confusion, he stared at his wife cluelessly.

“What sins? What are you talking about?”

“He doesn’t even knows what I’m talking about” she murmured.

“Er…I won’t know if you don’t tell me” he replied her.

She looked at him in the eyes for a few seconds.

“Matilda knows about what you did”

“What I did?”

She nodded.

“How you raped Cassandra’s mother and she’s using it as a bargaining chip”

“What?”

“Yes”

“What’s she exchanging it for?” he asked.

She chuckled lightly.

“I’m not telling you since you’re not honest with me, you might wake up one day and find yourself in an abandoned warehouse -just know I sold you for a good price” she said.

“What?”

“Yeah”

She reached for a glass of water and took a few gulps.

“Be aware, Danny, I’m not gonna let Jayden or Cassandra suffer for your sins -it’s either you come clean with the kids or…”

She paused and got up, she walked closer to him, leaned closer to his ear and whispered.

“…you brought this upon yourself”

Mr Grassi caught her hand just as she was about walking away, she stared at him with right brow raised questioningly.

“I’ll tell you everything”

“Hm?”

“I’ll tell you what exactly happened” he paused. “And you’ll tell me what Matilda wants”

Cassandra’s pov.

VERONICA’S TEAHOUSE

“Bye, daddy” Isabella waved at her father as she jumped out of the car.

Jayden quickly got out of the car too and rushed towards us, he squatted to Isabella’s level, patted her head and smiled at her.

“Bye, princess, listen to your mummy and don’t give your her a headache, remember she’s injured ok?”

“Yep” she nodded and k-ssed his cheek, he k-ssed her forehead in return.

He raised his head slightly and looked my way, but I quickly turned my head away from him. I heard him sigh as he got up, he reached forward and held my shoulders.

“Come on, baby, I’m sorry” he apologized like he has been doing for the past few hours.

I ignored him and focused my gaze on nothing in particular at the road -he can’t just say sorry after telling me I’m a turn off and expect everything to be fine.

“I really didn’t know you’re gonna find my words insulting, I didn’t know my words would hurt you, I’m truly sorry”

I shrugged his hands off me and reached for Isabella’s, I nodded at his car for him to leave.

By the way, I didn’t really wanted him to drop us off but he insisted on it and I couldn’t refuse him, after all I’m taking his daughter with me -he needed to be sure of her safety.

“Really? Are you giving me the silent treatment now?” he asked, with a hint of frustration in his voice.

Well I was frustrated too last night when he left me all h-ot and bothered.

“Howdy, y’all New Yorkers!” I heard Vero say from behind me.

I quickly turned to her with a grateful smile, I guess I’ve been secretly praying for her to come rescue me from Jayden.

“Hey, girlfriend” I greeted her back.

She stopped in front of me and pecked my l-ips.

“Er…you guys should really stop k-ssing each other, those l-ips are mine” Jayden said.

I rolled my eyeballs while Vero scoffed and ignored him, she bend down to Isabella’s level.

“Howdy, young lady?”

“I’m starving, aunt Vero” Isabella answered.

“Starving? It’s morning, didn’t your parents give you breakfast?”

Isabella shook her head.

“Mom and dad are fighting” she answered.

Vero laughed and k-ssed Isabella’s forehead.

“I’ll give you breakfast” Vero promised her.

Isabella broke into a grateful smile and quickly thanked Vero. Vero straighten up, she looked between Jayden and I.

“You’re already having couple’s fight in just a few hours?” she asked.

“No, we’re not” Jayden shook his head and stared at my face with a smile, but I scoffed to confirm Isabella’s words.

Vero nodded and glared at Jayden.

“You’re the bad guy in this right, correct?”

Jayden’s shoulders slumped down as he let out a deep sigh.

“You can say that” he said.

Vero walked closer to his ear and whispered something to him which made him smile bright, his eyes sparkled hopefully.

I narrowed my eyes, wondering what she’s telling him -because I know it’s definitely not in my favor.

“Wow! Thank you very much, sister-in-law” Jayden said aloud.

“You’re welcome, brother-in-law, I’m here for you” she replied him.

“I’ll leave my family under your care then” he told her, but his eyes were on me.

“Your family is my family too, don’t worry, they’re in safe hands” she tapped his shoulder reassuringly.

Jayden stepped closer to me, but he k-ssed my forehead before I could take a step back.

I frowned and glared at him.

“You….”

He cut me off by crashing his l-ips on mine, my eyes grew wide in surprise and anger at the same time.

My eyes somehow maneuver and landed on Isabella, I saw her closing her eyes with her tiny hands and I quickly pushed Jayden away from me.

“What are you doing?” I scolded him.

He laughed.

“I’ll be off to work now, don’t stay mad at me” he said and rushed back to his car, he waved at us, blew us a k-ss and drove off in a moderate speed.

I turned to Veronica but she smiled innocently at me.

“How could you sell out your friend?”

“Hey, I ain’t Peter, I didn’t sell you… don’t get it twisted” she defended herself.

“Well, you’re not better than Peter right now”

“I was just giving him some advice and how to apologize”

She grabbΒ£d Isabella’s hand and headed inside, I followed quickly.

β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

“She must be so hungry, huh?” Vero asked, nodding at Isabella who’s sitting at a table away from us.

She’s devouring the rice and pork Vero served her, she raised her head and saw me watching her, she grinned at me.

“Mom, it’s delicious” she said from her table.

“Yeah, are you saying your mommy doesn’t cook delicious food too?” I asked emphasizing on the *delicious*.

“Mom’s food is the best” she said.

I nodded in satisfaction.

“That’s my girl, eat up”

She blew me a k-ss and carry on with her food.

“She’s getting along well with you” Vero said.

“Yeah”

“She accepted you way too fast, if I were her I would have made you suffer for six months” she said.

I laughed sarcastically.

“Thank God you’re not her” I retort. “I guess her daddy had a good talk with her, from what I’ve noticed she respects her daddy a lot”

“She’s a good girl despite having a bad mother, Jayden is really a good father -he discipline and gave her proper upbringing from a distance” Vero said.

“Hm” I hummed in response.

We both reached for our latte at the same time and took few gulps, that’s why I love Vero -we’re always syncing.

“So, you were crying on the phone yesterday -what happened?” I asked after a few moments of silence.

She dropped her latte and started playing with her f-ngers, I knew at once something’s wrong. I let out a stifled chuckle.

“Ok, that’s not a good sign” I said pointing at her f-ngers.

There was another moment of silence, with me staring at her curiously and impatiently.

“You’re right” she said.

“Right about what?”

“Stephen. He…he does has feelings for me”

I smiled and shrugged.

“I don’t wanna say I told you so, so I’m gonna say… I know I’m right” I said c-ckily, but she raised a brow at my c-ckiness and I quickly got over myself. “And?”

“He confessed” she replied.

“Wow, way to go girl” I bumped shoulders with her.

“Don’t get excited yet, there’s bad news” she said.

“Bad news?”

“Yeah”

“Tell me”

She ran her f-ngers through her hair, her nose turned pink and she started avoiding my eyes -I came to a conclusion and glared at her.

“Don’t tell me you rejected him” I said with a pointed look.

“Er…”

“Er what?”

“I…I..kinda rejected him”

My shoulders slumped down in disappointment as I heard those words, I facepalm myself and sighed.

“Why?”

“I..I don’t know” she answered.

I stared at her for a moment, her eyes specifically. There are only two emotions in them, love and fear -and I think I know what that fear is all about.

“I know why”

“You know?” she asked.

I nodded. “It’s because of your dad, right?”

She closed her eyes and threw her head back, she facepalm herself like I did minutes ago.
I reached for her hand and gave her a little squ-eese.

“Listen, Vero, you’re not getting younger, you should give love a chance…and trust me, it’s not that bad”

“I’m traumatized, Cassie”

“I know you’re but not every man is like your dad, in fact, you rarely see men like your dad these days” I said.

Ok, I’m not sure if that’s true but I have to say something to get my bestie a boyfriend or she might spend the rest of her life being a spinster -that would be horrible!

“And besides your dad’s paying for his crimes in jail, don’t let his darkness consume you. You’re a beautiful lady and you deserve to be loved like every other ladies, besides I don’t think any man would dare to hit you”

“Why?” she asked.

“You’re a mad woman, you might cut off his head before he does”

She laughed at my lame joke.

“I think you should give Steve a chance, he’s Jayden’s friend and I trust Jayden won’t be friends with barbarians” I said.

Writer’s pov

“.. that’s it”

“Oh good gracious!” Mrs Grassi exclaimed sympathetically, with her hand on her chest.

“Yeah, it wasn’t my fault actually”

“Of course it’s not your fault, why didn’t you tell me earlier?”

He shrugged.

“I thought you wouldn’t believe me, I thought you’d hate me and besides, I wanted to explain it to you the other day but you wouldn’t let me”

Mrs Grassi pulled her husband in a hug.

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry for ever doubting you”

“It’s fine” he replied and k-ssed her forehead.

She pulled away from the hug with a small frown.

“What’s gonna happen now?” she asked.

“I need to speak with Jayden first” he replied.

To be continued.
