Sisterhood

Sisterhood episode 98 – 99

TITLE: SISTERHOOD

AUTHOR: OGECHI ALABI

CHAPTER 98 – 99

Odion took her to dinner. At the dinner, she asked if he had delivered her message to Uncle Tobi. He quickly sent a message to him.

After dinner, he took her home. He walked her to the door and pecked her on the cheek (as she didn’t allow him on the mouth) and then left. She was all smiles as she opened the door to her apartment and almost had a heart attack.

Uncle Tobi was in the apartment. He didn’t look happy at all. She wondered why he looked so angry. Before she could ask any question he asked her, “Where have you been?”

“I went out with Odion. We went for dinner.”

“Since when? How come I am not aware of this? How did you meet him?”

“I thought he would have told you. He travelled with us to SA, that’s how we met.”

“He was not supposed to travel with you.”

“I didn’t know that. What’s wrong? But you gave him an envelope with a card for me.”

“I gave it to the person I was sure was going to SA with you. If there was a change of plans, he should have told me instead of what happened. And you never mentioned it.”

“You asked me to enjoy myself and I did.”

“Not with him. What did he tell you about himself? Are you aware he is married? He divorced his first wife to marry this lady from Kaduna to gain access to mining in Kaduna and Katsina. He is desperate. Nkem, what is the problem? Is it because of him you stopped calling me or sending me messages? I don’t understand you.”

“You blocked me from calls, text messages, social media and everywhere. I have been trying to reach you. I thought you remained in Canada after the last message I received.”

“That’s not true, how did I block you?”

Nkem opened her phone and showed him the last message she sent. She showed him she had been blocked. Uncle Tobi wondered who could have done it. He looked at Nkem and said, “You didn’t try hard enough to reach me. You should know there was no way I sent this to you.”

“I didn’t want to believe it. I asked Odion to tell you to call me. I knew you would have realised then that I had been blocked.”

“He didn’t tell me until this night he sent a message that you were asking after me. I was wondering how you would send a message through him. I decided to find out from you. I noticed you were not home and I let myself in. Before I could call you, I saw you with Odion. I don’t get it.”

“You have told me what is wrong with Odion and I have ended it. What is there again?”

“Nkem, why do you desire others but don’t desire me?” Nkem was surprised. She wondered where that was coming from. He added, “Is it that the only way I can get you is by taking it by force? Why can’t you want me the way you want other guys?”

“I don’t want anybody. I don’t know what you are talking about.”

“If Odion was not married, would you have considered him? Would he have stood a chance?”

Nkem was silent for a few seconds then he said, “I don’t know. I was getting to know him. “

“And you don’t know me?”

“Uncle Tobi, you are married. Your wife sent that message. She blocked me on every avenue I could reach you. How can I develop feelings for a man whose wife loves him? And you love her too? I can’t.”

“So if she was not in the picture would you have considered? Would I have been an option?”

“I never thought about it. I don’t dream about what I can’t have.”

“Fair enough. I will give you time to think about it.”

“Why? Are we discussing this because I went out with Odion? I don’t want to think about it, I like things the way they are.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, I do,” and Nkem walked away from him. She walked into her bedroom, locked the door and dropped her purse on the bed. She sat down for a few minutes to control her heartbeat which was very fast. She needed to leave because his presence was making her weak. She hoped he would have left before she got out. She took her bath and changed into her nightwear of a shorts and top. She came out of her room to meet Uncle Tobi pacing in her sitting room. She was surprised. She asked him, “You are still here?”

“We hadn’t concluded our discussion.”

“What is left?”

“I have always stood by you when you needed me most. You were not there when I did.”

“I have always been there. I might need you more than you need me but if you call on me, I will be there.”

“I need you now. Swear to be you didn’t have anything with Odion?”

“What is all this? Don’t you trust me anymore? This was our second date. I haven’t and I will not do anything with him as long as he is married.”

Uncle Tobi looked at Nkem. He believed her but he just wanted to be sure. He came closer to her and hugged her. She was uncomfortable putting her hands around him. Her heart was beating very fast. She tried to understand what he was up to. He held her closer and said, “Kiss me.” Nkem didn’t more. This was not what she expected. She tried to wriggle out but as though he anticipated it, he held her tighter. And then he kissed her. As he kissed her, he loosened his grip but she didn’t push him away nor did she respond. His hands moved slowly around her body. He had dreamt of this moment for a long time. He knew he could take her at any time but he wanted her to want him too. She didn’t have to love him but want him.

He went for her neck. He kissed her and then came back to her lips. Then he stopped and said, “You can tell me to stop at any time and I will but you must say stop. If you don’t I won’t.” Nkem didn’t respond. She felt she was having an out-of-body experience. When he kissed her again, she was more relaxed. He needed this. He led her to the couch. He lifted the top of her sleepwear. She was still as he remembered her and he was excited. He took it off. She was naked from the top. She tried to cover her breasts but he stopped her. He took off his shirt and singlet. Then he took off his trousers and had on his boxers. He tried to take off her shorts but she resisted. He looked at her, her eyes were shut tightly. He touched her nipples and saw the shock on her face. He went down on them. She couldn’t believe it. It felt so good. He was so gentle as he suckled but bit her nipples gently that sent shivers down her spine. She was excited now. When he kissed her belly, she tried to stop him. She couldn’t. He continued and she was scared of what might happen. Her body wanted this but her mind was worried.

Uncle Tobi took off the shorts eventually. She closed her lap tightly. He knew she was shy and didn’t take offence. He just smiled at her and said, “You can stop me at any time. You have to tell me to stop. I am too excited to read body language unless you say it. Should I stop?” Nkem was quiet. “Then allow me to open your legs? Or is the light too bright here?” he asked her jokingly. He went and switched off the light in the sitting room. He opened the kitchen door and turned on the light. The light from the kitchen was just the right lumination for the action. He noticed she opened her eyes when she thought he couldn’t see her. He smiled inside. He felt like he was taking a toy from an underaged child. It felt good.

He separated her laps with a little resistance from her. He realised why she didn’t want to open them, she was very wet and slimy. He took a deep breath as he fingered her. It was his expertise and he knew what would happen if it did. Within seconds, she was reacting. After a while, she orgasmed and begged him to stop. He told, “There is one more to come” and truly she orgasmed again. She became very shy. He had her juice all over his hand. He went to wash his hands quickly before she could change her mind.

“You are still so tight, I couldn’t get three of my fingers in. You have a good body.” He kissed her in the mouth and used tissue paper he brought from the toilet to clean her. Then he turned her to lay on her belly. He took off his boxer and knelt between her legs. She didn’t know what was going on until he brought her waist to a kneeling position and then he penetrated her. She didn’t believe it. The shock first and then it was followed by the blinding sensation each thrust took. It was a build-up. There were no breaks. Nkem felt herself pouring. It was so amazing. Then he pulled out of her and turned her to face him. He kissed her and then penetrated her again. This time it was so intense. He looked into her eyes as he thrust, he rolled his waist at one time which made her moan loudly. The moan sent him to the edge and he announced he was arriving just before he arrived. His orgasm was so intense that he groaned into her ears. She had never experienced this intensity.

When Uncle Tobi had descended from his heightened level of pleasure, he stood up and dragged Nkem up with him. He kissed her and said, “Thank you. I really needed you. Let’s take a bath together.”

Nkem didn’t want to bathe with him. It was what she did with Demian and they end up having sex in the bathroom. It was sacred and she didn’t want to do it. She shook her head. Uncle said, “Don’t tell me you are still shy after this? Come on. Ok, take a bath first, I will bath in the guest bathroom.”

Nkem took her bath. She tied a towel to come to pick up her nightwear from the sitting room. It was still dark and she didn’t know Uncle Tobi was out also. He sat in the darkest part of the room. She took her sleepwear into her bedroom. Uncle Tobi waited for her to dress up before knocking on the door and entering the room.

“Are you ok?” he asked Nkem. He had a mischievous smile on his face.

“I am fine.”

“I enjoyed being with you, I never thought I would enjoy it this much. I will spare you the details and my presence. I want to leave now. I would have loved to stay but you are still shy. Or should I stay?” Nkem didn’t respond. “I thought as much. Come and see me to the door and lock it behind you.”

She walked behind him to the sitting room. As he got to the door he turned back and bent over to kiss her. It was supposed to be a light kiss but it went deeper. He was excited when she responded. He stopped and whispered in her ears “You were a million times better than I ever imagined.” He brought her hand to his crotch and said, “I wish I could stay and go again but I have to leave. I’m tempted but I will only stay if you say you want me.” Nkem didn’t respond. “I will see you soon.” He kissed her again before he left.

Nkem collapsed on the closest couch she could reach. She couldn’t believe what just happened. She couldn’t believe she just had sex with Uncle Tobi. Her body was still sensitive from his touch. She wondered how she let this happen. How he was able to possess her and take her. She couldn’t deny she enjoyed it but right now she felt guilty.

He was still married. Wasn’t it double standards on his part to condemn Odion while he did the same thing? That was her main concern. How would she face him going forward? How would they be able to relate when they both had an overwhelming sexual experience? She was happy he left, if not, it would have been awkward for her. She wondered how women with multiple sexual partners cope with the after-effect she was struggling with.

Uncle Tobi went home a happy man. He knew she felt uncomfortable so he left. He hadn’t descended from cloud 9 yet. She was far better than he had ever imagined. He could remember the feel of her skin against his body. Her breasts were still perky and he felt good inside her. It was gripping and welcoming. He was excited again thinking about it. He had an axe to grind with Odion. Why would he make a pass at Nkem? They were not friends but business associates. He wasn’t supposed to be on that flight. Why did he go? And why hot on Nkem?

Odion knew Nkem; he had seen her before in passing. Odion asked about her and Uncle Tobi had told him to keep off; she was not available. Why then did he fly with her even after he warned him? He wasn’t comfortable with such a dubious mind. He knew Odion had lost Nkem but he needed to teach him a lesson he won’t forget quickly.

He didn’t want anyone around Nkem, he loved her that much. He couldn’t share her with anyone, not with the experience he just had. He needed to woo Nkem as he had never wooed any woman before. He knew there will be resistance from her but he was ready. He was determined to break through her defences and make her his.

CHAPTER 99

Nkem broke it off with Odion when he called the following day. She told him straight up, “I found out you were married. Why would you want to date me when you have a wife? I find such behaviour despicable. You told me about yourself but conveniently left out the important part. Maybe it works with the other ladies but it doesn’t with me. Lose my number, I don’t want to be friends with a deceitful person like yourself.” She hung up the phone.

Odion couldn’t understand the sudden change from the night before. What could have happened? Who could have told her? It dawned on him it must have been Tobi. He had crossed the line and he knew it. The first day he saw her, he came down from the car to talk to her in front of her office. He saw the way he spoke to her and how she avoided eye contact. When Tobi came in, he asked him if there was anything between them because he liked what he saw. Tobi warned against going for her. He knew there was going to be a backlash.

Nkem tried to avoid Uncle Tobi but he seemed to have preempted her move. He came to pick her up from work on a Friday evening. She was surprised and she didn’t want to go with him but she had to because she didn’t want him to create a scene. Inside the vehicle, Uncle Tobi tried to make small talk.

“How are you doing?” he asked, trying to lighten the environment.

“I’m fine,” Nkem answered shyly.

It made Uncle Tobi smile. She looked so cute. He drove her home. When they got upstairs he said to her, “Pack a bag let’s go somewhere together.”

“Where?”

“Anywhere you would like. I am to be in Lagos tomorrow, though. Let’s go to Lagos and take off from there. Monday and Tuesday are public holidays.”

“We can stay in Lagos. I am not interested in travelling.”

“Pack a bag and we can leave tonight. I will make flight arrangements while you pack. Are you hungry? We can stop and eat something before we leave.”

“I am not but if you are, I can whip up something for you.”

“That will be nice. I would rather eat your food than eat in a restaurant.”

Nkem went into the kitchen. She had brought out some soup before leaving for work. She plugged water to make a swallow she liked. She placed some of her clothes on the bed while also checking the food in the kitchen. She threw her suitcase on the bed and went back to the kitchen to make the swallow. She set the food on a tray and as she turned to serve the food, she saw Uncle Tobi standing behind her. She was startled that she almost dropped the tray.

“You scared me.”

“That wasn’t my intention. I enjoyed watching you cook.”

Nkem dropped the food and went back to pack the suitcase. As she was doing that, she wondered why she was excited about this trip. She felt different now. She sat on the bed and asked herself questions. What was she doing? Why did Uncle Tobi come to pick her up? Was this the beginning of a relationship? Did she want this? Had she forgotten the issues? She stopped packing and was struggling with her emotions on the bed.

Uncle Tobi knocked on the door of the room and came in. “You’re not done?” he asked as he looked at the yet-to-be-packed items on the bed.

“I don’t think I can go with you,” she replied as she looked away from him.

“Why? You don’t like me? Do you think I am taking advantage of you? Or is it your conscience pricking you? What is it?”

“I don’t know. It is different things at the same time.”

“Let’s get to Lagos and we will tackle each of them until a considerable agreement is reached. We can’t let loose here or at my place. Let us clear our heads in a place away from our comfort zone and then we reason better. I have struggles too. Please pack for us to leave; our flight time is close.”

Nkem stood up and finished packing while Uncle Tobi watched her. She locked her suitcase and rolled it towards the door. Uncle Tobi took it from her and carried it downstairs while she locked up the apartment. She sat with him in the car. She could see he was all smiles; he seemed excited. She had never seen him like this before.

They didn’t talk on the way to the airport. Both of them were deep in thought. When they arrived there, his protocol officer met them by their car. He gave them their boarding pass, took their luggage and they entered the departure hall.

Uncle Tobi worked while Nkem caught up on social media while they waited for their flight. She replied to messages and made comments where necessary. Once their flight was called, Uncle Tobi shut down his laptop and they went to check-in. They were flying business class so they were given preferential treatment. They settled down for the flight. Before the plane took off, Uncle Tobi held Nkem’s hand. She was surprised but she didn’t withdraw it.

The flight to Lagos was smooth. They didn’t talk much but it was not awkward between them. Uncle Tobi rolled the two suitcases while talking to someone on the phone. As they came out of the arrivals, a man came to meet them. He greeted Nkem and led them to the vehicle waiting outside. They drove a distance to the Island. They lodged at Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel. Nkem loved the ambience. They checked into the room. Uncle Tobi got a room for both of them. Nkem became a bit jittery at this point. She was scared of what could happen behind closed doors. Her face clearly showed her worry. Uncle Tobi told her to relax.

When they got into the room. He asked Nkem if she was hungry and would want to eat dinner. She declined. He put his suitcase away and asked if she would want to unpack now. She said she was fine, she will do it later. He put her suitcase away and walked to the balcony of the room. He invited Nkem to join him. She sat down on a couch and he sat beside her. He put his arm around her and then he began.

“Nkem, I know some of your worries and I will put them to rest now. But I would like to know all of them so we can proffer solutions. If we feel this won’t work, I will let you be.”

Nkem was silent for a few seconds and then she said, “You are married, that’s one of my concerns. You have children who are growing, I can’t take you away from them. Funke will believe we have been fooling her all this while. You are someone I look up to like my guardian angel on earth. Why would I be intimate with someone so dear to me? What if this doesn’t work out? I’m scared of the effect. My husband’s family, how will they take my moving on?”

“These are valid concerns. My wife and I are separated. We have been separated for some years now. She had an affair with a guy who encouraged her to relocate to Canada to be with him. I found out but I didn’t blame her. I was always on the move and intimacy with her wasn’t my thing. I also cheated; I had affairs she knew about and didn’t care. When the guy couldn’t milk her of her finances, he left her after three years. She decided she wanted the marriage to work. I told her I was in love with someone else but I will give her time to find another man before we divorce. She has been on my case for reconciliation each time I visit. She uses the children to make me travel down there. I have refused to be seduced by her. I know she was the one that blocked you but I didn’t confront her. I wonder how she did. But it is over between us. Legally, we separated. I don’t stay in her house when I visit.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“You didn’t need to know. I am telling you now. There are other things I can’t mention now. I have to safeguard her dignity, she is the mother of my children.”

“That’s true.”

“I am tired of you seeing me as a guardian angel. I want you to see me as a lover. I want to love you, take care of you and protect you. I want to do all that. I am not ashamed to be with you publicly. That’s how much I want you. It didn’t start today.”

“But what Funke? Your wife and your family? They know me, what will they think f me?”

“Ask yourself why you want to do this. Why do you want to be with me? Or should I say why don’t you want to be with me? If there were no inhibitions, would you have been with me?”

“I don’t know. When I am around you, I get confused.”

“Why? Why do you get confused?”

“I just don’t think straight and I can’t fight you off. I feel like you possess me. I can’t stop you from having your way. I am weak where you are.”

Uncle Tobi was speechless. He sat up recovering his hand in the process and looked at Nkem. He didn’t realise he had that kind of hold on her. He was expected to feel good about it but he didn’t. He asked her instead, “Does it feel like I want to rape you or did you feel like I forced myself on you the last time?”

“It didn’t feel like that. It’s not about you but about me. It is the fact I can’t resist you that is the problem. My body has a mind of its own when I am around you and would react while my mind tells me to stop. But the willpower to stop isn’t there.”

“But how do you feel about me? I want to know if our feelings are mutual. I can’t deny not loving you for a long time. I love you. I allowed you to have your experiences just as I did. I honestly didn’t want a relationship with you but I couldn’t help myself. My wife realised how I felt about you and she warned me to kill the desire in me. I tried. It was difficult but I tried.”

“When was this?”

“She had her suspicions but I debunked them. Funke’s wedding, she brought it up again but since I had not made an advance, I told her off. The final time was at your wedding.”

“But she never behaved to me as though she suspected.”

“She suspected me and not you.”

“And now?”

“You are older and if the feeling is mutual we could hit it off. Didn’t we?”

“She wouldn’t like this.”

“I like it. I have told her it is over. Let’s talk about Funke. We won’t tell her anything until we know where the relationship is heading. We will tell her together when we are ready. But, with our discussion so far, are we prepared to see if we can be in a committed relationship?”

“Can I think about it?”

“Before or after sex?” he asked her smiling.

“I will like to be alone so I can think about it. If you don’t mind.”

She spent a long time alone on the balcony. She struggled with her physical desires and what she felt was right. She didn’t feel guilty while having sex with Uncle Tobi but she felt guilty afterwards because he was married. Now he had cleared the air, she felt better. It was also surprising to her that he had an interest in her for a long time and never showed it. He never took advantage of her for a second when she was much younger and vulnerable. It made her appreciate him more.

She made up her mind to give the relationship a try. She was experiencing a different side of him that she liked. He had always been there for her but caring for her this way melted her heart. She liked him but she didn’t think she was in love with him yet. Maybe she would feel the same way now the burden had been lifted. She was still worried about Funke finding out. She wondered what her family would think about the relationship. Her mother will be disappointed.

She went into the room to meet dinner waiting. She was surprised. Uncle Tobi was in the bathroom. She waited for him to come out. He asked her, “Do you want to bathe before you eat or after? You haven’t had dinner yet.”

“I will take a bath first.” She opened her suitcase and brought out her toilet bag, her nightwear and her towel. She entered the bathroom. She came and joined him on the couch.

“You smell so good,” he said to her as he planted a kiss on her lips. She tried to relax when he did that. He pulled her closer and deepened the kiss. She responded. Uncle Tobi was shocked when she did. He left her lips for her neck. He loved kissing her neck, it was fair and soft on the lips. Then he whispered to her, “See what you do to me. I can’t resist you. I have been meaning to do this all day. Now I can love you the way you deserve.” He came back for her lips and his hand was under her nightwear. She moaned involuntarily. He smiled as he realised he shouldn’t have ordered dinner yet. This was the main meal.

They stayed in Lagos for one night and a day. Uncle Tobi travelled with Nkem to Equatorial Guinea where he had a business meeting. They stayed in a luxurious hotel. After the first meeting, he went in search of Nkem. She was in the room working on her laptop. He knew she would never be up to any mischief. He could trust her. He had travelled with ladies who got contacts of other men or even met with them while he was away doing business. His checking up on her was to ensure she wasn’t bored.

He took her with him to the next meeting. She sat in and listened attentively while taking notes. She passed him a sheet of paper with some questions written on it. He was surprised. He asked the questions and he understood why she asked. He decided she would join him in all his meetings. They worked as a team.
