🍂 Daphne’s POV 🍂

“Mom?” I called slowly and she stopped on her tracks

But she didn’t say anything

“Are you my Mom?” I asked as walked to her front

“I…… Daphne…..Am not your mother” she stuttered

“You are lying, it’s obvious, you are my Mom, that’s why you are so obsessed about breaking the Curse” I said and she was silent again

“You were alive….. You are alive yet you left me to suffer alone!” I yelled

“I suffered too!!” She yelled back “I’ve suffered much more than you Daphne, unlike you I didn’t have the privilege of living my first 5 years in peace, unlike you I started suffering as a baby, do you know how it was, I remember everything perfectly, maybe it’s part of the Curse but it’s always hærd to forget the painful things, how I’ll always cry as a baby even when my Mom carried me, how my Mom would always hide me in the barn alone just so I’ll stop crying, as I grew I began to bond with the pain, I began to get used to the horrible pain”

“But at least your Mom was there for you, but mine left me alone” I said and she scoffed

“You experienced the love of a father and mother from your foster parents Daphne, I never got that chance. My Dad was killed by the Soul Hunters before I was born and my Mom died in my hands when I was just 4 as she was killed by the Soul Hunters too. I grew up alone, hiding away from the world, away from people’s emotions that has become a scar on me. You think you had a hærd life? Well it was nothing compared to mine, you asked why I didn’t come for you? I was too busy trying to find a way to a way to break the Curse, a way to kill you”

“So you really gonna kill me Mom?” I asked “You’ll kill your own daughter?”

“Do you think I want to do this, do you think this is easy for me, I need to end the Hills bloodline if not, one day you’ll definitely have a child too and the Curse goes on” she said and I scoffed

“How sure are you that I’ll give have a child?” I asked

“It’s part of the Curse Daphne, it doesn’t allow the lineage to end, why do you think the Soul Hunters haven’t taking your life since, because they can’t? No Daphne it’s because it’s not yet time, they’ll only give the maximum pain they can and you may even wish for death but they won’t take your Soul, not until there’s another little Hills to serve as the host that’s why all the hosts must be eradicated, you know what we’ve went through Daphne, am sure you wouldn’t wish that for anyone not to talk of your child, that’s why we have to die now. So don’t call me Mom, I might have given birth to you but am not your Mom, am someone that’s gonna kill you, I’ll kill you and Liam, and then I’ll kill myself” she said

“I…. Why does Liam have to die too?” I asked

“It seems he’s Cursed too and I don’t want to take any chances or everything willl be in vain, he has to die too for me to ensure the end of the Curse”

“Your concern is with the Hills lineage, please don’t kill Liam, it wouldn’t solve a thing, if we both die, then the Curse of the Hills ends, there’s no need to kill Liam please” I begged and she sighed

“Fine” she said “I’ll not kill Liam on one condition”

“What condition?”

“You’ll totally co-operate with me on this, no dubious plans, let’s end this Curse together”

“I agree, as long as Liam lives, am willing to die” I said and she stared at me

“Do you love him?” She asked

“I don’t think we are close enough to have this conversation” I said and she shrugged and was about leaving

“Can… Can I see him?” I managed to ask and she looked at me raising her brows

“Since I’ll be dieing soon, in the next full moon, I want to spend the little time I have left with him please” I pleaded

“Come with me” she said and I followed her out of the the room

“When is the full moon?” I asked as we walked towards the opposite room

“Yesterday was the last full moon, so you still have 3 weeks and some days left” she said and I nodded

At least I’ll be able to spend that time with Liam

She opened the door to the other room and Liam was lying on the floor, unconscious

“He’s still unconscious and you didn’t do anything about it!” I yelled as I ran to where Liam is

I kneeled beside him and touched his forehead, he’s cold, so cold

“He’s cold, so cold please get me something that’ll help him, anything” I said p-nting

I can’t loose Liam

“I don’t know what….”

“Just get me anything!!!” I yelled and she went out of the room

Why are you so cold Liam
What’s happening to you
Please hang in there
I can’t loose you

I cried as I hugged him

🍂 Liam’s POV 🍂

I opened my eyes again and this time we were all in the Palace Hall waiting for the Countess of Darcia and her family to arrive

“Liam” I heard someone called and I looked around but saw no one

‘Daphne?’ I wanted to say but nothing came out of my mouth

It was then I remembered, am not in my body and I can’t say or do what I want

All I can do is stay in this body and watch as I do and say things I don’t even understand

Hera’s Dad, the King, was seated on his throne, the Queen and Hera sat beside her

Dad, Mom and I was seated in some chairs arranged round the hall and many other notable families were precent

I looked at Hera and our eyes met

I winked at her and she smiled

We soon heard the sound of horses and carriages signifying that the Countess is here

The door to opened and the Countess came in with some group of people and knights

We all stood up as a sign of respect as she walked in

She quickly walked up to the King and bowed

“My King” she greeted and the King held her up

“No need for such courtesies, Countess Hills” the King said and the Countess smiled

“My queen” she said as she faced the Queen

“Welcome Countess Hills” the Queen said as she hugged her

But something was strange about the Queen, it’s like she’s forcing herself to smile and hug her

It’s obvious she doesn’t like the Countess

“And who’s the beautiful lady beside you?” The king asked and it was then I noticed the young lady standing beside the Countess with her head bowed

“This Aurelia my King, Aurelia Hills, my daughter” the Countess said

“Daughter?” The Queen said “we didn’t see her when we came visiting”

“Yes, that’s because Aurelia is wasn’t in Darcia when her Dad died, Aurelia likes exploring and she was out exploring the kingdom and wasn’t aware of her father’s death early, that’s why she wasn’t around when you came” the Countess said

“Okay” the Queen said

“Show your respect Aurelia” the Countess said

“Your Majesty” the girl, Aurelia, said with her head bowed

“You can rise” the King said and Aurelia raised her head

I couldn’t see her face well but I could tell she’s very beautiful

“You have such a beautiful daughter Countess” the King said

“Thanks my King” the Countess said bowing a little “I also heard you have a very beautiful daughter”

“Yes, that’s Princess Hera” the King said pointing at Hera who bowed a little

“Hera?” The Countess asked

“Yeah she’s named after our great mother, goddess Hera, goddess of life, the Queen of all all goddesses” the Queen said and I smiled

She always likes to brag about Hera

The royal family are direct descendants of goddess Hera

And Hera was named after the goddess cause she was divined to be a reincarnation of goddess Hera and it was said that she inherited the goddess powers

Though she hasn’t exhibited such powers yet

“I shouldn’t keep you standing, please sit and let’s begin the dinner” the King said

The dinner began as the maids served the food and we started eating

We were done with the dinner and the King we were all walking round the Palace along with the royal family as they took the Countess and her daughter on a tour round the Palace

“Is that what I think it is?” The Countess asked pointing at a stand with a crown on it

“Yes” the King said “That’s goddess Hera’s famous Diadem”

“It looks amazing” the Countess said as she walks towards the stand and tried to take the Diadem but she couldn’t

“You can’t pick it up” the Queen said

“Only goddess Hera herself or a true descendant of hers can pick it up” the King said

“Why can’t you pick it up then” the Countess asked the king

“I am a descendants of Hera but I do not have her spirit” the king said

I yawned silently, this boring talks are getting me sleepy

I looked at Hera, she’s not even looking at me, she’s so focused on their discussions

Why did she make me come here if she was going to ignore me

Everyone continued walking and I reduced my pace and soon I was left behind

I sighed with relief as I quickly ran out of the palace before my parents s₱0ts me

I walked to the back of the Palace where a garden is

I laid on the grasses facing the sky

The stars are twinkling so beautifully

Thank God I was able to escape the boring tour

“Aisshh!!!, I hate Royal dinners!” I heard a voice yell at the other side of the garden

Could it be Hera?

But her voice sounds quite different

I stood up and walked towards the direction of the voice

I saw her standing and looking up at the stars

“I miss you Dad” she said looking at the stars

I stood at her back admiring her silky and long hair

Then she suddenly turned

“What are you doing?” She asked

“Nothing”

“What do you mean nothing, at first it was your curiosity I felt but now I felt you staring at me, admiring me” she said as she slowly walked closer to me

“You felt all that?”

“Yeah I can feel people’s emotions, it’s not a big deal” she said

“Wait, are you….”

“Aurelia Hills, yes and you are?” She asked

“Kal Griffin” I said “you are the Countess daughter right?”

“Isn’t that obvious” she said raising her brows and I smiled

“Sorry about earlier, I was just… I was admiring your long hair, you are really beautiful” I said and she smiled

“And you are really dumb, are you seriously teasing the Countess’s daughter?” She asked

“No no, I was just…. It’s just a courtesy” I said and she scoffed

“So who are you, what are you doing here?” She asked “you must be of a noble family to have been able to attend this dinner”

“Am son to the King’s adviser” I said

“Okay” she said and walked back and sat on the grasses

“Okay?” I asked surprised as I sat beside her

Whenever I tell people about my family’s status they always amazed and wants to be my friend but all she said was okay

“Were you expecting me to say something else?” She asked

“Well, maybe you don’t know but the King’s adviser has a very high status”

“So should I have bowed to great you”

“That’s not what I meant, you just… Forget it” I said and she laughed

“You are dumb” she said and I scoffed

“Why are you outside, aren’t you supposed to be in,side with everyone?” I asked

“I hate Royal dinners, everything is just so boring I’d rather be out here seeing and exploring the world”

“Same with me, I hate all this kind of gathering where everything is stiff and there’s no laughter” I said

“Yeah and you’ll always have to be have matured..”

“And mannered” I added

“And it’s all so tiring”

“And not fun at all” I added again and we laughed
