Chapter 43&44: TRIGGERED.

If anyone is to tell her that hell is real, she will never doubt that.

There in school, for no reason the mark began to burn. It was burning like they had just placed a hot iron on her ribs.

While the lecture was going on, she almost s¢ræmed but held herself not to.

She glued her teeth, gnashing them painfully. Harmonie noticed it, she asked. ” Hey, are you alright?” She whispered.

Hanley looked at her but didn’t say a word. She doesn’t have the mouth to as she held it firmly from yelling.

Harmonie was a bit frightened at how she was staring at her with her eyes wide open.

” Stop giving me those look, it’s scaring me. Are you sure you’re alright?”

Hanley nodded, taking her gaze off her. She sighed heavily, ” I am fine.”

As soon as the class was over, she ran into the toilet, shutting the door close not minding if someone else was gonna make use of it.

She pulled her shirt up, staring at the already red scar on her w–st. ” Fu*k!” She cursed.

She just discovered that the mark wasn’t the same any more. It has already increase in size.

” No. No.. no.. no… Noo!” She cried, touching the mark at the same time hissing at the pains.

” What’s going on, what’s happening to me?” She asked herself.

” Hanley, are you alright? ” Harmonie knocked on the door, as she asked concerned. ” Open the door, Han.”

” Get out!” She yelled. ” Just leave me alone!! ”

” Hanley, what has gone over you? Please open the door and let’s talk about this, okay? ”

” I’m. Not. In. The damn. Mood. ” She grunted.

” I know. We’re friends, and friends don’t have to keep things away from each other. It’s just me alone here, please open the door. ” She pleaded

” No. ” She swallowed hærd. ” You have to go. You have to get out of here because… Arrggh!!” She s¢ræmed. ” Arrggh!!”

” Hanley, are you alright?! You’ve hot to open the door please. Open it! ”

Hanley started gasping heavily. ” No. ”

” No what? Talk to me, some thing is really not good. Let me in, I’ll listen to whatever nonsense it is, okay? Just open the door, I wanna know what it is that troubles you. ” She begged.

” I do wan… want to tell you b… but I… I can’t. It’s too… dangerous. You’ll only get yourself into trouble and… ” She wept.

” I don’t want you to. You don’t have to know about this, no one has to know about this. I’m so sorry, Harmonie, I’m doing it for your own good. Aaarrrrggghhh!!! ”

” Hanley!! ” Harmonie shouted from the outside. ” No, Harmonie don’t do this to me. Don’t do this to yourself. Please let me help you. ”

” It hurts! It hurts!! ” She glared at herself at the mirror, slowly her hair was turning white and longer than her normal hair length.

” Oh, no!”

” What happened? What is it, Han? ” She asked curiously.

” No! AAARRRRGGGHHH!! ” Cracked lines appeared on the mirrors but they didn’t break.

Her echo sounded all over the school, getting everyone’s attention.

She gasped for the last time, falling to the ground – she fainted.

” HANLEY!!”

Every single person in the school was alerted by Hanley’s heavy s¢ræm.

Edward had already recognized the voice, he knew Mr Jefferson must have done something to her.

Quickly, he dashed out of his office, heading to the direction of the sound made.

He got there even before any other staff could. The students were restricted from leaving their classes so it was impossible for them to witness what just happened.

Edward held the door knob, and in a way no one knows, he swung the door open.

Harmonie didn’t bother getting surprised at how easy it was for him to open it, she ran towards Hanley’s body.

” Hanley!” She cried bitterly, shaking her body for any response.

” What happened?” He asked.

” I don’t know. She didn’t wanna open the door for me.” She said in a shaky voice.

Edward knew there was something behind this. Some thing that has caused her hair to turn white for the second time.

He took Hanley’s body into his arms, heading to the door when the rest of the staffs showed up.

” What happened?” One of them asked.

” Oh my goodness, what happened to her hair?” Another gasped.

” You have to take her to the school clinic.” Suggested another.

Edward indirectly searched for Jefferson among the teachers but didn’t find him.

He sternly believed that indeed, he has a hand in this. He must have gone too far to tamper with the mark, causing her hair to change its original colour.

” AAARRRRGGGHHH!!”

He heard her voice. He could sense it, something wasn’t right.

The pains. The mark. Someone was tampering with it.

Ace who was having a meeting with his councils paused, like he was stung by an insect.

His sudden quietness was noticed by every single council who sat with him.

” Is there a problem, sire?” One of them asked.

” We’ll continue with this next time. ” He stood up, hastenly making his way out of the council hall.

He walked straight to the garage, without wasting a second of his time, he started the engine, zooming off.

Lunara stared out of her window by the sound of the car, ” Where the hell is he going to?”

From the way he speedily drove out of the compound, one can tell some thing wasn’t really okay.

He picked his phone from his pocket, dialing on Edward’s number.

” Ed, what happened?” He asked immediately Edward picked the call.

” It’s the mark, it started again. And…” He paused.

” And what?”

” The mark has increased in size. I think it’s growing. ”

” Where are you guys now? ” He asked, troubled.

” At the school clinic. We’ll be out at the gate very soon. I can hear the sound of cars, you’re coming? ”

” I heard her s¢ræm, I decided to come. And yes, I’m on my way. ”

” I doubt the gate will be opened for you. You’ve got to wait a little while just in case you get to the gate, I’ll try as much as possible to get her out of here. ”

” Okay. I’ll be waiting. But how is she? ” He asked with concern.

” She fainted at the toilet. But she’s okay now.” He replied.

He could hear the heavy sigh Ace made. ” I’ll be there in a minute.”

” Okay.”

Ace increased the gear to five, not minding the traffic, he wasn’t gonna waste any second of his time.

” She needs to be taken home.” Mr Anderson suggested. ” Someone should call her parent or guardian. ”

” I already did that, he’s on his way. ” Replied Edward.

” Do you know the girl any bit? ” Mr Anderson asked Edward.

” Uhm.. yeah, I do. Her brother was a friend of mine back at high school. ”

Mr Anderson nodded. ” If you don’t mind me asking, is this common to her?” He asked again. ” I mean the weird changing of her hair? ”

” No. This is actually the first time I have seen her in this way. ” He lied.

” I don’t think taking her to the hospital would be a good idea, though I wanted her to but, the doctors will have to question me.

And I don’t want this case to get to the government’s hearing or I’ll questioned for it too. This is the second time this is ever happening, yet no one can tell what exactly it means. ”

Edward’s phone beeped, he picked the call. ” I’m at the gate already.” Ace said from the other side of the call.

” I’ll meet you there soon.” He hangs up the call. ” He’s outside. ” He informed.

Mr Anderson asked him to take Hanley to her brother’s car. The gateman was told to open the door, letting Ace freely drive in.

Ace rushed out of the car to open the back door for him. Edward drops Hanley on the long back seat, he shuts the door close.

” He’s not in the school.” Edward told him. ” I think he must have left.”

Ace sniffed in heavily. ” No, he is some where in the school. But… don’t go after him, or he’ll suspect who you are. I’ll take care of Han. ”

Edward nods his head.

Ace returned back into his car, he horned at Edward before zooming off out of the school.

Edward didn’t know what made him look at one side of the building, there he saw Jefferson standing, watching him.

His glares were dreadful, horrific and scary enough to chase dogs away. And if one is to look from a close distance, he’d see the reddish colour of his eyes.

But Edward wasn’t scared at the looks, he has seen many of this gazes before. Especially from Ace whenever he was angry.

Ace halted in front of the building, quickly stepping out of the car.

He opens the back seat, jerking her into his arms. He shuts the door with his leg.

Hanley was taken to the doctor, and the first thing he observed was the mark.

” What do you see?” Ace couldn’t hold his peace anymore.

” Someone just triggered the effect of your mark. The more the mark is being affected by a different person, it causes the mark to increase in size.

Once this keeps going on, it’s likely the victim automatically becomes unmarked or… she dies. ” He explained.

” Is there any way you can stop the mark from responding to the unknown call? ”

” No, but you can. ”

” How? ”

” You must remark her. But this time, you aren’t marking her as a mate, it’s a mark of protection. Once this werewolf sees it on her, it will be impossible for him to mark her. ”

” I’ll do as you have said. ”

” First, we must let her rest for a while. ”
