“It’s been..” she was interrupted by the sound of the door opening and closing. Uniformly, their gaze moved to the door. “Oh. My. God.”

“Oh my God?” Bella said, almost like a question. “Do you know him?”

“He’s the son of the CEO of the Donaldson Enterprise.” She replied in a whisper.

Jayden glared at the two ladies. “Sorry I’m interrupting.” He apologized, turning to leave.

Anastasia stood up, walking to his direction. “No. No, of course not. What can I offer to you, sir?” She asked.

“Not at all. I just wanna say I received your message from my secretary. Thank you.” He said.

Anastasia smiled. “It’s okay.”

“Do you mind having dinner with me tonight?” He requested.

Anastasia looked down for a while, then she raised her head at him. “Yeah. Yeah, I don’t mind.”

Jayden smiled. “By the way, I’m Jayden.”

“It’s nice to meet you, Jayden.”

He waved a soft smile at her exiting the shop.

“Oh my gosh! You accepted dinner with him?” Bella exclaimed excitedly.

“I had to. It’s not like I have a choice.”

“You do have a choice, Ana, and you gave it to him. I’m so so happy for you, babe.”

“It’s just a one night dinner and not a week hangout.”

“A one night dinner which always turns out to be the genesis of every man and woman’s dream.”

Anastasia rolled her eyes at her. “Spare me that trash. It’s Pablo I love and no one else, I can’t trade him for any one or any thing.”

“Then why did you accept the dinner?” Bellas questioned.

“Because it is a dinner and not a date.”

“What if Pablo some how comes across the two of you in this your perfect wonderful dinner?”

“He won’t. Besides, we aren’t sure yet if he’s in the state.”

I know it’s been so difficult to let go of Pablo in my head. Even after what happened, I wished he was next to me. My heart keeps missing him every day that passes by.

I searched for the best outfit to put on for this dinner, and there was none suitable for it. Most of my clothes weren’t worth it to hang out on dinner with the son of a CEO.

I had the casual wear all packed in the wardrobe, and it’s me staring confusedly at my clothes. “What am I gonna put on now?” I thought to myself.

It’s just a dinner right? I picked my navy blue pencil skirt and a white sleeveless shirt. I glared at myself in the mirror, God, I look like a newly employed assistant manager.

I quickly took it off, finally picking a black lace gown which reached down to my knees and had a short split at the back. Though it wasn’t that fashionable but… It’s cool.

I stared at the time on my phone, “Shit!” I cursed. I was running out of time.

I barely have twenty five minutes left to get to the complex restaurant. Staring at myself in the mirror, I was beginning to feel less inferior about myself and how I look.

But anyways, it’s just for a night. It’s not like we are dating or any thing. I picked my small purse, making my way out of the door. Bella is gonna give me her investigation question tomorrow morning.

I boarded a taxi which drove me to the complex restaurant which I wasn’t familiar with until I stepped out of the car, glaring right at the tall building opposite me.

I checked the time again, it’s five minutes to eight. I looked at both sides of the road before crossing. My heart was beating so fast, this is my first time showing up in a restaurant so big and wide like this.

“Excuse me, ma’am.” One of the guards said, stopping me with his right hand stretched before me. “How may I help you?” He asked.

How may he help me? Like seriously, do I look like I’m lost or some thing? Or am I here to make a petty trade offer with him or what?

“Excuse me, is that question meant for me?” She looked back and by the sides. “Because I don’t think so.”

“I’m talking to you, madam. What do you want? How may I help you?” He repeated.

“Well, since you said it is I you are talking to, I’m here for…”

Before I could think of completing my statement, I heard a deep familiar voice talk beside me. “She’s with me.”

I turned to my side to see Mr Jayden standing right behind me with a warm smile. I smiled back. Seeing him was a relief and a chance for me to escape Mr interrogator standing before me.

“Yes, I’m with him.” I opened my eyes wide at the guard.

“You look great tonight.” He complimented me.

I look great? Wow! I never expected he’d say that to me. I mean, take a look at me, I look odd and way too different from any one else at dinner.

Jayden and I walked into the complex restaurant, and I’d say, it’s a wow! From the entrance door I felt the cold from the air conditioner. “Wow, this is so beautiful!” I exclaimed in excitement. “Thanks for bringing me here.”

Anastasia didn’t realize how childish she was playing, but to Jayden, she was acting so sweet. Even while they eat, she has only eaten three spoons from her sausage. Her shyness wouldn’t let her.

She glared around and saw how others behaved, they were normal like they were in their dining room.

“Is there a problem?” He asked, noticing her attitude.

She flew her gaze at him, smiling. “Of course not. I was just… nothing.” She continued eating.

Jayden smiled. “How did you get the knowledge on how to cook?” He asked, breaking the silence.

“I had a great mom.” She simply said.

“I see. So, what inspired you to the business?”

“A very good friend of my father helped me with the capital.”

“Oh, that’s wonderful. Does he live around the state?”

“No. No, he doesn’t. He is based in New York City.” She replied.

“You left all the way from New York City to Chicago for your business?”

“I’ve heard so much about the state. A lot has testified it’s the best state for a business like this. Take for instance this complex, and the number of people in it, it’s a great business.”

Jayden glared around. “You heard right. Chicago is one of the best cities for people like us to engage in.”

People like us? Nah, I don’t think I’m worth that level of exaggeration.

He was giving me this long glare, and it felt like they were staring right into my soul. His stare was getting me uncomfortable. It almost felt like it was Pablo staring directly at me.

“So, have you ever been into a relationsh¡p before?” He asked.

Now, that question was coming unexpectedly.

“Well, yes.” She replied.

“What happened?” He asked but for a while I was quiet. I actually don’t know how to reply to that very question. And I wasn’t ready to start a history story about my relationsh¡p.

“I’m sorry if I said some thing wrong.” He quickly apologized.

Maybe he thinks my silence was because I was angry at him asking me about my relationsh¡p life.

“Nah, you didn’t say any thing wrong. Actually, it’s a long story. But to cut it short, our relationsh¡p almost created war between him and his brothers. That’s what happened.”

“That’s bad.”

“Yeah, it is.” After a brief silence, I asked. “What about you, are you into the stuff too?”

“Was.” He said. “But not any more.”

“What happened?” I asked again.

“Family issues.”

“Oh. Oh, I’m so sorry for that.” I said, not wanting to ask further. “Well, you look good without one.” He raised his eyebrows at me. “I meant, take a look at you, you have every thing you want. You have the fame and wealth and power.”

“You might have every thing, but when one is missing, every thing is missing.”

“You’re right. I feel like I’m empty.” It’s a week now and it’s all like a year living without Pablo.

I haven’t spent a day without thinking about him. He’s all in my head, stuck in there like a burden to my mind.

I noticed the way he was staring at me, like those movie actors and their actresses in a moment that signifies that the next minute should be fast forwarded.

“So, how is the business going?” I asked, changing the topic.

“Great. What about yours?” He asked back.

“It’s been good.”

And the rest of the dinner went quite better than I thought. He drove me home. I was feeling uncomfortable about the idea of showing him to my new apartment, I don’t want him finding out about my place.

But I ended up letting him drive me home.

“Thanks for the ride.” I said, smiling in the possible way I can.

“It’s nothing. Thanks for showing up tonight, I really appreciate it.”

I blushed. “You’re welcome.”

I stepped out of the car, I just realized how long I’ve been holding my breath until now. I exhaled heavily. I think he likes me.

Well, it’s gonna be a little more r-mantic if I had spent a little longer with him in his car. Lolz. That’s crazy, isn’t it?

I smiled.

“Good night, Jay.” I waved at him as I watched him drive off. “Wow! What a day.” I walked in.

I didn’t bother taking off my clothes, I threw myself on my bed, dozing off to sleep.

It was as if I heard a voice call my name. A familiar voice I can never forget. “Ana….”

I jerked up.

That voice.
