CHAPTER 46&47: TESSA’S PLAN.

Mr Jayden has been showing up for a week now, spending a few of his time with Anastasia. He was only doing what Bella had asked him to, and the fact that he has feelings for her. He promised himself to do whatever it takes to make her remember, if not any one, but him.
It’s Thursday, a free day for Jayden. Anastasia hasn’t been working since she got discharged from the hospital. Bella has refused to do any thing until she fully recovers. And she’s been keeping watch of her every second and minutes to see to it that she takes her drugs.
“Bella, I’m sick of doing nothing here. Besides, this is my shop, I have to do some thing rather than sitting here and doing nothing.” Anastasia complained.
“Ana, I understand, I totally do. But right now, you can’t do anything. The doctor warned against you doing any thing that will stress your brain. Thinking about your customers, who to serve and the rest of them, you don’t need any of that now. You have Tessa and me, we can handle the job.” Bella explained.
“But… I’m fine. I remember a few things now, whicheans my brain is healing gradually.”
“You remember things, but not every thing. There are more to remember and those parts are the most important part of your memories. You can only figure them out if you just calm down and give yourself a long break.”
“I have given myself a long break. It’s been a week since I got discharged, do I still need an extra week for a break?”
“As long as your brain cells are concerned, an extra week is too small for a break. You need a month if I may say.”
“A month?” Tessa snapped.
Their gazes moved to her. “Yes, a month.” Bella repeated.
“Why a month?” Anastasia asked. “You don’t expect me to spend the whole month sitting my ass here, staring at nothing.”
“Well, I was actually expecting you to spend the whole of your time, hanging out with Jayden and I. You know, staring at nature it’s very helpful for you.”
Anastasia looked at Tessa, expecting to hear her opinion. “Say some thing, Tessa.”
“Ana, she is right, you need to take a break. But, talking of a month, it’s crazy.”
“Thank you, Tess.”
“Have you two so suddenly forgotten that the doctor confirmed her memory loss is permanent? Even a temporal brain damage takes weeks to recover, to talk of a permanent one.”
“She seems to be recalling a part of her memory.”
“Oh please, what memory has she recalled since she got out of the hospital? Now, let me ask you, Ana, do you remember Tessa?”
“Yes, I do. She’s my assistant.”
“That’s because I told you that. Do you remember how she got here? Huh?” She asked again.
Anastasia was quiet.
“Fine. How did you meet Mr Jayden? How did you two get to know each other?”
Anastasia didn’t say a word to her.
“Tell me, do you remember what happened to you, and how you came to Chicago? Or do you think you’re living here because Chicago is your home or what?!” She asked, her voice a bit louder. “There’s some thing you’ve got to understand, Ana, you don’t remember a shit!
You don’t even remember who he is. You don’t know what happened to your parents, you don’t know any thing yet. Your brain is blurry and totally empty! Do you think seeing you remember only me makes me happy? I feel like I’m talking to the same girl from college.
I feel like there’s nothing new about you. It’s annoying, and it hurts, okay? A lot happens in your life and they all seem new to you, like it never happened before! There are three different people in your life, one out of them is a devil, and the other two, it’s complicated. And you, you don’t remember any of these.
He’s here for you, he wants to see you happy. Every day I hope to walk in here, expecting to hear you say you remember every thing, but no! Every day is just the same with Anastasia r-manoff not recalling a thing! Now, he’s out there, in New York City, troubled, worried about you. He calls every blessed day to check on you.
And do you know how it feels to hear that you still haven’t changed? No improvement, just the same Anastasia of yesterday. You act like every thing is alright but we both know that nothing is alright, yet you refuse to give yourself the time to think.
Think, Ana, think. There are so many things you’re missing, so many things you should know about. Forget this job for the meantime, and focus on the real facts. Focus on your mind and heart, think, ask yourself what it is you are forgetting. Your condition is critical and cannot be reversed, but even at that, some thing can be changed. But that’s depending on how hærd you work for it.“
Tears slowly licked out of her eyes, staining her cheeks. Every word Bella had said to her hurts, right deep into her soul. She’s been living with the thought that she remembers some thing, but it turns out that she still hasn’t recalled a thing from the past. She can’t even remember how the incident happened.
On the other hand, Bella was angry that Anastasia couldn’t remember any thing yet, despite the hangouts, girl’s night, shopping and walkouts. Nothing seems to be changing in her. It’s always the same every day.
“I’m sorry, but I have to say these.” She left the shop to get some fresh air.
Tessa went to Anastasia’s side to console her. She felt like a kid at Bella’s words. She keeps trying but nothing seems to be new.
“Bella didn’t say those out of anger, she said those because she loves you and she wants the best of you. I feel hurt living to the fact that you don’t remember me even though we barely know each other. But learning so much about you and yet, you don’t remember them, some times I wish this never happened to you. Honestly, Ana, you walked out of the hospital totally different. You aren’t the Anastasia r-manoff I once knew. I wish I can have that Anastasia back.”
“I’m trying, Tess, and I haven’t stopped trying my best. It’s not my fault I don’t remember any thing yet.”
“I understand that, and no one is blaming you for that. What happened to you is not your fault, you didn’t ask for this, you never wished for it to happen in the first place. It’s just… we miss the real you. I miss the real you.”
“Does… does she hate me now?” Anastasia asked, sounding cold.
“Bella?” She chuckled. “Of course not. Why would she hate you?”
“She looks angry with me.”
“She isn’t angry with you, she’s only worried and concerned for your sake. Don’t worry about her, I’ll talk to her. Okay?”
Anastasia nodded her head. “Thank you.”
“Any time.”
Tessa left the shop to meet Bella crying at the corner of the shop. As soon as she saw Tessa, she tried to pretend like every thing was alright, but the tears on her face told how much pain she was in.
“I don’t wanna talk about it.” She said tearfully. “Nothing’s ever going to change. I thought having Jayden in her life will help, it’s all the same. What is he gonna think of me? What will Mr Escobar say of me? A friend without a good heart. A friend who enjoys seeing her best friend in such an ugly situation.”
“Bella, you don’t have to blame yourself for what’s going on in Ana’s life. No one asked for this, it just happened. You are trying your best on her, both you and Mr Jayden. I see how hærd you take her around, talking about the last events in her life and likewise, she is trying her best.
Like the doctor said, her condition is permanent, all we have to do is to give her some time to get her senses back together. Even if it isn’t all, at least, does she remember some thing? That’s what we should be working on.“
“I want her to remember him. She has to.”
“There’s no other way to make her remember him just like that. I have watched so many movies, read books with such cases and there’s always a similar remedy to it.”
Bella quickly wiped off the tears on her face, looking interested to know this very remedy. “What is the remedy?” She asked.
“He has to be here. Love is always the cure. When she sets her eyes on him, she’ll remember him. Trust me, it’s not gonna take a week or month for her to.”
Bella nodded thoughtfully. “You’re right. You are absolutely right, Tessa, he has to be here. Where the fu*k is my cell phone, I have to give him a call.”
“Hey. Hey, calm down.” Tessa held her back. “You aren’t just gonna tell him to come all the way from New York City to meet his Cinderella?”
“I don’t even know what to tell him. He’s so busy with the empire stuff and he’s gonna give reasons why he can’t come.”
“Well, I have a good idea for you.”
“Tell me, what is it?” She asked in anticipation.
“You have to play an act over it. Tell him that there’s some one about to take his place in Ana’s heart.”
“You wanna ruin Jayden’s reputation?”
“It’s not like he’s gonna see the two of them k××sing or any thing. Come on, they haven’t even fu*ked each other yet. Just tell him this, trust me, he’s gonna leave his empire running all the way from New York City to Chicago.”
“Get me Ana’s cell phone, it’s on the counter.”
Tessa left to the shop, returning back with Anastasia’s phone. “Here it is.”
Bella took the cell phone, dialing on Pablo’s number. Immediately, Pablo picked the call. “Hello, Bella?”
“Mr Escobar… Mr Escobar, please, you have to come.” She said, faking a pleading voice.
“Bella, is there a problem? Talk to me, did some thing happen? Is it about Ana? Is she alright?” He asked worriedly.
“Mr Escobar, it’s Ana. You have to come to Chicago as soon as possible. I can’t say it but you have to come.”
“Bella, I need you to say the words, what happened to Anastasia?”
“There’s some one taking your place in her heart.”
“Who the fu*k is that?” He stormed from the other side.
“Some one who desperately wants to have her to himself.”
“I’m on my way.” He hangs the call.
Bella and Tessa looked at themselves, giving each other a high five as they bursted out laughing. “We did it, Tessa. Mr Escobar is definitely on his way.”
