CHAPTER FIFTY-ONE: LADY MARGARET’S TEA PARTY 1

Muchen opened his eyes, the sun rays blinding from the windows, turning left, he stared at Jing…..last night brought questions to my head, I am pretty sure I got married to her at the age of eighteen, did she have a lover? Did someone touch her before me?

How did she lose it? Normally it’s not something that surprises me. I am not deeply moved by virgins but it was that thought that made me wait this long before touching her, if I had known I would have spent nights with her.

What is in my head right now is how I should find the truth but then she is not showing any signs of waking up, after that outburst of power in me lady night, I had no idea I was sucking her blood, by the time I knew, it was almost late.

” Jing?” Mumbling, I place my hand on her forehead” Are you okay?”

” Hmmm” she turned sideway and slowly opened her eyes “Good morning ”

” Jing ”

” You look confused”

” Confused?” I furrow my brows ” More like surprised and angry ”

” Angry?” Sitting up, I fold my hands and look at him “Why will you be?”

” Jing, who touched you?”

” Touched me?” I notice how she furrows her brows “What are you saying?”

” You have had sex with someone else before right?” She said nothing, still giving me that confused look” You were not a virgin ”

” What are you saying? Nobody has ever touched me ”

“There was no blood!!!!”

” You have to be joking ” She sat up and frowned “So what if there was no blood, maybe am different ”

” Jing ”

” Lord Muchen, I already told you, nobody has ever touched me” Not saying anything anything, I looked at her, she looked so confident and sure “Last night was my first time, and am also stocked that I didn’t feel much pain ”

” Are you sure?”

” Am not stupid Muchen” she frowns “Stop asking me questions I already answered “There is no way to tell if she is lying, should I keep talking about this or just forget about it? ” You need to learn how to trust someone” She moved to the bathroom and I exhaled

What exactly was I thinking? Of course, she won’t lie about something like this!!! It shouldn’t even be a big deal but for some reason am still agitated, am still fucking confused.

Even after feeling all that, I didn’t say any more words, I simply watched her, eat breakfast, move out to have a little chat with Fang, begin to prepare for her little tea party, choice of dress, hair, makeup.

At the very least, she looks really happy ” lord Muchen?” She turned my way” How do I look?”

” You look okay Jing ” I didn’t share her enthusiasm of course, I still think it was too early for her to go to such lengths and meet Margaret, she was not even close to winning.

Even if her powers are to manifest, she has absolutely no idea how to use them while Margaret on the other hand, is completely different, even I will find it troublesome to fight her.

Someone who one can call a prodigy in witchcraft, why I got her on my bad side is still a mystery to me, I know perfectly well that she loved me and it angered her, I didn’t kill Josephine but back then, she forgives me.

Am also pretty sure it wasn’t her who killed me but Jing, why Crystal back then killed me, still baffles me ” Jing ” Looking at how excited she looked, I clench my hands, it’s not like I love ruining fun moments or anything related to that, am just scared, completely and utterly scared…..losing her will literally mean my death but funny enough, that’s not the reason for my fear, I simply don’t wish to lose her ” you have to promise to return to me ” getting up, I hold her hands ” the moment you believe you’re in……..” Lifting her hands, she cut me off and smile

” Trust me my husband” She moved closer and hugged me ” I will come back to you, I promise”

” What if …..”

” Even if you feel am in danger, don’t come ” she warned ” I wish to finish this myself “Looking at her serious face, I part my lips to say something but she beat it to me ” I know you are still confused and angry about early but trust me, I promised, nobody has touched me before” she looks up at me ” it was my first time ”

” Alright” touching her face, I chuckle ” am glad ”

” Can I go now?”

” Indeed ” I reply ” I will be waiting for your return in the palace ” and then I stared at how beautiful she looked in that long red dress with just perfect amount of makeup

Jing watches outside the carriage window and frowns at the light emitted from the huge hall, the carriage stop and I look at Fang ” I know I decided to come here but it’s quite nerve cracking ”

” Milady, I believe you will be just fine ”

” Muchen said the same thing or the opposite, I can’t remember”

” Trust yourself” Fang smiles ” I believe you know why you are here and am sure, you decide to succeed with your plan ”

” Yes, with your help…. hopefully I will get to know why Muchen’s cousin hates him and why Margaret hates me….even when I did nothing” Nodding my head, I got off the carriage and stared at Fang’s face, whenever Alexander was mention, I always notice slight changes in her gaze.

It’s not in me to doubt Fang too recently, her movements are having fault, she looks lost in thoughts most times, and then Muchen came up with that question earlier, smelling Alexander off her body.

I didn’t doubt Muchen, I just didn’t want him to quickly jump to conclusions and kill her, I will handle things my way.

Handing my invitation, I step in and frown at the place, a huge table in the middle with chairs, lots of chairs at the side, different noble ladies are seated

Of course, at the sight of me, a murmur erupted “Is that the queen?”

” Who would have thought Lady Margaret knows the queen ”

” I once heard that Lady Margaret is her mother”

” That’s preposterous ”

Holding my head high, I lift my dyes a little and move towards the empty chair at the very least, The maid standing right there, pulls the chair out and sits down “Good evening ladies ”

” Your Highness” they bow their head

” Your Highness, I heard it’s uncalled for the queen to leave the palace ” one of the noble ladies mumbled,” Is there a reason for this exception?” I see, she is one of the people who like running their mouths up and down without thinking properly

” Lady?” I look at her and she quickly replies with her name

” Lady Chen your highness”

” Lady Chen, do you think it’s appropriate to even ask me such questions that are out of your concerns?” I look at her with a glare ” If am to think right, Mr Chen who is your husband is not even among the council members and you dare part your lips to question my whereabouts?”

” Your Highness” she gasps and I frown

” I can have your tongue cut into two for that “Everyone at the table gasped and she got up before falling on all fours, head touching the floor

” Forgive me, Your Highness, I beg for your mercy ”

” You are still horrible-mannered Queen Jing ” Hearing that voice I stare at stared-Margaret, walking down the stairs ” You could have just forgiven her”

” That is more than I can do ” I replied when she sat on the last chair at the very end, in the opposite direction ” They are simply things I do not condo ”

” You must be very mannered then ” She smiles and I chuckle gracefully

” You have no idea ”

CHAPTER FIFTY-TWO: LADY MARGARET’S TEA PARTY 2

The grand hall buzzed with whispered conversations and pointed glances as Lady Margaret’s tea party continued. The tension in the air was palpable, and the guests couldn’t help but be drawn into the intrigue surrounding of my presence.

I myself was baffled.

I maintained my composure despite the mounting pressure. sipped my tea gracefully, occasionally engaging in polite conversation with the ladies seated nearby after asking lady Chen to sit right back on her seat.

However, my focus remained squarely on Lady Margaret, who seemed determined to keep me off balance.

Lady Margaret leaned in, her voice a conspiratorial whisper. “You must be wondering why I harbor such resentment, Queen Jing.”

My eyes met her gaze evenly, concealing her curiosity. “I admit it has crossed my mind.”

Lady Margaret’s eyes gleamed with malice. “You see, it all began with your husband, King Muchen.”

I raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. “King Muchen? How so?”

Lady Margaret leaned back, a triumphant smile playing on her lips. “He was mine before he was yours.”

The revelation hit me like a thunderbolt. She had suspected that Lady Margaret and Muchen had a history, but hearing it confirmed sent shockwaves through my body. “Your claim is quite audacious.”

Lady Margaret chuckled darkly. “It’s the truth, my dear. Muchen and I were deeply in love, but fate tore us apart.”

I couldn’t hide the turmoil that churned within my body. Muchen did mentioned such a significant chapter of his life but quite differently “And how did this separation occur?”

Lady Margaret’s expression grew somber. “It was your interference, all your stupid doing ”

A sense of sympathy welled up in me, but i pushed it aside. I needed to understand Lady Margaret’s motives better. “I’m sorry to hear that, Lady Margaret. But how does my presence here relate to your past with King Muchen?” They are still lot of things I know nothing of.

Lady Margaret’s smile turned chilling. “Because, Queen Jing, I see you as the symbol of his betrayal. You represent everything he chose over our love. So, you must suffer as I did.”

They is no way I couldn’t deny the intensity of Lady Margaret’s feelings. It was clear that her hatred ran deep, fueled by years of resentment and heartache. Yet, I couldn’t help but feel that there was more to this story.

Before i could respond, a commotion erupted on the other side of the hall. Two noblewomen were engaged in a heated argument, drawing the attention of the entire assembly. The distraction allowed me a moment to collect my thoughts.

I had learned a crucial piece of Lady Margaret’s history, but it only left me with more questions. What had happened between Lady Margaret and Muchen? Why had Muchen never mentioned what really transpired.

As the argument was quelled and the tea party resumed its tense atmosphere, i realized that i had to dig deeper into Lady Margaret’s past to uncover the truth.

The tea party continued, each moment laden with intrigue and hidden agendas. I knew that the path to understanding and confronting Lady Margaret would be fraught with challenges, but i was prepared to face them head-on.

The grand hall of Lady Margaret’s tea party still buzzed with murmurs and whispers as I absorbed the shocking revelation about Lady Margaret’s past with Muchen. My mind raced, trying to make sense of the tangled web of emotions and secrets that had been unveiled.

Lady Margaret’s eyes bore into mine, a mixture of triumph and bitterness in her gaze. “Now, you see, Queen Jing, why I harbor such resentment towards you and your husband. You have everything that was once mine.”

I couldn’t deny the depth of Lady Margaret’s feelings, but there was a nagging question in my mind. “Lady Margaret, if King Muchen and you had such a profound connection, why did he marry me?”

Lady Margaret’s lips curled into a bitter smile. “Because he had no choice. His family, his duty as a king, and the pressures of the throne forced him to abandon our love and marry you, the chosen queen.” I still have no idea why she speak so much lies.

” Why are you bent on speaking such lies” it was obvious that everyone seated close could hear our conversation, my heart ached for Lady Margaret, who had clearly been deeply affected by the loss of Muchen’s love but that gives her no right to try killing me!!!

“I understand your pain, Lady Margaret, but I was not aware of your history with King Muchen when I married him. You clearly have no heart for you to keep trying to kill me over your past foolishness”

Lady Margaret’s laughter was tinged with bitterness. “Ignorance does not absolve you of the sins of the past, Queen Jing. You have taken everything from me, and now you must pay.”

I knew that she needed to uncover more about Lady Margaret’s past, particularly what had transpired between Muchen and Lady Margaret. There were still pieces missing from this intricate puzzle, and i was determined to find them.

An opportunity to discreetly inquire further. I turned to the noblewomen seated nearby and engaged in casual conversation, trying to glean any additional information about Lady Margaret’s history.

Over the course of the evening, i learned more about Lady Margaret’s family, her rise in the witchcraft community, and her connections to the royal court. There were whispers of power struggles, alliances, and betrayals, all of which hinted at the complexity of Lady Margaret’s past.

All these just doesn’t make sense nor do it add up to what Muchen said, my gaze didn’t move from lady Margaret, that smirk is still very much planted on her face ” lady Margaret” one of the noble ladies got her attention, she turn around and talked to her, allowing me to think properly

“Queen Jing,” Lady Margaret proposed, “how about we adjourn to the balcony for a more intimate conversation?” She rose without hesitation, and I followed suit, determined to unveil the truth behind her motivations. “You certainly stirred up quite a commotion.”

“You’re rather skilled at deception,” I retorted.

“Jing,” she called my name.

“Margaret,” I replied coldly.

“You should address me as ‘Mother’,” she suggested.

“You’ve never once acted like my mother,” I pointed out.

“I don’t need to,” she retorted.

“You didn’t give birth to me either,” I reminded her.

At that moment, she turned to face me directly. “So, you do know about your real origins.”

“I’m not foolish enough to remain ignorant of why you want me dead,” I growled, anger bubbling to the surface. “Is it all because of your past love?”

“I think you fail to comprehend the depth of my hatred, Jing. You don’t understand why I want you dead,” she growled

“Then tell me!”

“Because of you, that bastard is still alive!” Lady Margaret’s outburst startled me. “I wanted him dead. I used you to eliminate him, and now you’ve brought him back by telling Zeus that you hold the key to controlling him. Are you that foolish?”

“You want Muchen dead?” I asked incredulously.

“And to accomplish that, I need you out of the way,”

“You love him!”

Margaret’s laughter filled the balcony. “He chose you, didn’t he? He will never be mine, and that’s why he will meet his end.”

I couldn’t fathom the complexities of her emotions. Her eyes were filled with hatred, yet she maintained a disturbingly cheerful smile. “I’m sorry to inform you, Jing, but this will be your final night.”

“What do you mean?” I inquired.

“You came here, fully aware that it was a trap, didn’t you?” she asked.

“I did,”

“So, you didn’t expect that I would allow you to leave this place alive, did you?” she taunted.

I knew this confrontation was inevitable, but I hadn’t prepared adequately for it. She moved closer to me, forcing me to step back until I found myself against the wall. Yet, instead of hitting the wall, I tumbled into complete darkness.

It was a grim realization. Margaret’s vendetta was fueled by a complex web of emotions, and my love for Muchen had become the catalyst for her unrelenting hatred. Now, in the depths of darkness, I faced an uncertain fate, trapped in a battle that had been brewing for far longer than I could have ever imagined.
