“What “Alyssa exclaimed.

“Is nothing ” Mandy denied.

“I thought I heard you saying Grace “Alyssa queried.

“I was shock to see the news. So it just came out.. Like a exclamation, you know” Mandy struggled to lie, not knowing how to what to cook up.

“Okay” Alyssa replied.

“Poor lady, those reckless driver need to be taught a damnable lesson”Alyssa said frowning.

“Yeah… th…. they need to be taught a good lesson “Mandy reply with a shaking voice. She was feeling guilt her subconsciousness played.

“Mum are you okay”Alyssa queried coz she notice Mandy uneasiness.

“Yeah am fine, have you done the assignment “Mandy said trying to make her forget the topic.

“Not yet am waiting for Jacqueline, and Tracey, we’re going to do this assignment together, more like a project ” Alyssa replied.

Just then the door bell was heard.

“Am sure they are the one”Alyssa wink at Mandy. She scurried this the door and open it. Her friends came in. They greeted Mandy and Alyssa took them to her room.

Mandy stare at the TV, she plump down to the sofa. She ruffled her hair in confusion. Mandy subconsciousness told her to go meet Grace at the hospital, but she was too selfish to listen to it, she was almost turning a sinister.

“No I can’t go there, what of if she ask for her children, have kept her children away from her, they I my children, mine alone “Mandy said between gritted teeth.

She glance at the TV and the headline stated the hospital Grace was in.

Mandy knew a nurse who work there, back when she lives in Oakland. She sigh in relief.

“I’m just gonna ask the nurse to check on her and also pay her bills if they have not being paid. With that I won’t look live a sinister “she said to herself.

She went upstair and went to her room. She collect her phone from her drawer and dial the nurse number.

After the second call she picked it up.

“Hello Mandy ” the nurse said

“Hello Rita ” Mandy replied.

“Can I help you ” the nurse said.

“Yeah, I’m calling to know the present situation of a woman name Grace Jesse reported to your hospital is she okay now” Mandy enquired.

“A woman name Grace was reported to the hospital this morning, her surname was not indicate in the form. She was knock down by some car” the nurse narrated.

“Is her case critical”Mandy enquired nervously.

“Sorry we’re not allow to disclose any information about any patient, I only said the one I could say because we’re close ” the nurse rebuke.

“I really wanna know , the patient there is my friend”Mandy said.

“The reason I can’t come to meet her is because am out of town, so busy” She lied.

“Okay, but still is wrong to disclose any information, but I’ll tell you coz we’re close. The patient case is critical, she was bleeding heavily when she came. But I don’t know much about her coz am not in charge with her”the nurse replied.

“Can you please help me to check on her, and I wanna pay the hospital bills, can you help me with that too” Mandy requested.

“Okay, I’ll help you “the nurse agreed and Mandy smiled.

“Thanks,but I hope is not much burden on you “She said.

“No is not, am just helping a friend “the nurse replied.

“I will find out if she is still critical and also find out if her bills have been settled and get back to you later ” the nurse promised.

“Thank you so much ” Mandy said gratefully.

“It my pleasure “the nurse replied.

Mandy end the call, at least she as help Grace a little. But her subconsciousness still bother her. She still don’t want Mandy to encounter the children. She only did all this so her subconsciousness will be at ease, but it’s still bothers her. But she ignored it.

Some hours later, the nurse called her and told her that Grace as slept into a coma and her hospital bills hasn’t be settled yet. She told Mandy the amount. The amount was a little bit costly. But Mandy got the amount in her account. Mandy told the nurse not to disclose her identity to Grace. When the nurse enquired why, she told her that Grace and her have a issue at hand,she didn’t reveal any details, the nurse didn’t ask further questions.

Mandy paid the hospital bills and still check on Grace through that nurse.

#Three_weeks_later

The nurse call and told her that Grace as woken up from her coma. She will be discharge soon. Mandy thank her. She was happy that Grace was okay, but feared she might come to meet her children one day. She hopes that don’t happen.

Grace in the other hand was told that an unknown person paid her bill, she wonder who it might be.

She was discharge the next day and Luna took her home. Luna never failed to visit Grace in the hospital after school hours and prayed seriously that she should recovered.

Grace still hoped she will find her children some day.

Arthur bought a brand new car shocking Mandy and Alyssa. He told them he as being planning to buy one ever since. He bought them with is hand earn money. He bought them the day Grace woke up. He know how to drive coz he as been learning to drive through is friends car.

“Mum am going to meet a friend in San Jose ” Arthur announced one day when they were eating breakfast.

“So he lives in the next city “Mandy said.

“Yes, he is a friend from my work, but he move back to San Jose, I had lost contact with him, but he gave me address on where he lives ” Arthur stated.

“Okay ” Mandy replied.

Arthur was just coming back after visiting his friend. He decided to take a shortcut home. On is way he could see two men surrounding a Woman like his mum age. In the look of things it seems they were harassing the old lady. It could tell she looks scared.

Arthur was full of disgust, how could they do that to an elderly woman, the woman was no other than Grace, he alighted from the car angrily. When scurried fast to them just before they could harm her. In the look of things they were interested in her bag. One of them drag her purse.

Arthur dash at them. He gave the one who drag her purse a hot slap and he fell to the floor coz of the thunderous slap and the bag fell from his hand. The other one rush at him with a knife on his hand.

Grace gasped as he was about piercing the knife into him. But Arthur hit the knife from him and kick him on his manh-od very hærd. He gro-n with the pain and fell to the floor.

The other one attack him and punch him on the stomach. Arthur wince and Grace gasped. She wonder what to do. The thug kept on punching Arthur on the stomach and pushed him to the floor. He fell to the floor gro-ning.

The other one was still gro-ning from the pain in the floor. Grace scanned around and saw a stick laying at the corner. She pick it up and hit him on the head very hærd. He let out a sharp cry before falling to the ground. He fell conscious. She went to the other one who was still gro-ning and hit him on the head. He squeak and fell unconscious.

Grace rush to Arthur and held him on his arm, she was supporting him to stand up. Some strong s-nsation hit her, she couldn’t tell what was that. Arthur also felt it. He stood up and Grace glance at him.

She stare at him. His face was like her son. But she had only seen him when he was fourteen, but that face was still similar just a bit mature.

“Am Arthur “Arthur introduce himself.

Grace eye w¡den, she look at him from his toe to his head and smiled. She knew he was her son without been told.

Arthur look at her weirdly. He wonder why she smiled.

Grace knew this was her chance. She will not miss any opportunity.

“Do you know Mandy Dace Roderigo” Grace said feeling she was about to explode with joy.

Arthur arched a brow, he wonder how she knew his mum.

“That my mum’s name, how do you know my mum” Arthur ask in astonishment.

Grace hugged Arthur.
