I opened my eyes and the first person I saw was Raymond.

He was sitting by my sick bed and holding my hands.

He hugged me immediately he realized that I was awake. “From now on Gold, don’t try to protect me, I will be the one to protect you”.

“How come? You didn’t taste the food?”.

“I did…but you had already sent Candelaria a text that if I eventually tasted the food before you arrive, that, she should give me palmoil immediately. It worked because she had given me the palm oil immediately”. Tears filled his eyes. “Do you know how long you have been here? You have been here for two weeks! Who did this to you? Do you still remember?”.

I shrugged. “You believe everyone over me. How can I point fingers without a proof?”

“You don’t tell me anything, that was why we both fell into this state. That night,you had eavesdropped on Collins right? Was that why you were asking me about the 1988 book? It related to the launching right?”.

“You believe in Jennifer Roland. What do you want me to tell you if you do?”.

“Jennifer Roland stayed with me all through the time that I was with you in the hospital. How do you expect me to doubt such person?”.

I was boiling with anger. Such deceitful woman.

He clipped my hair with a pin and held me on my jaw. “Who did this to you?”.

“Your cousin. Collins and Henry planned the launching together to hurt you but Henry sensed that I might be on my way over there to save you so he pursued me to stop me”.

He fumed. “You mean Henry did this to you?”.

“I didn’t tell you this so that you will go home and cause a fight. I told you so that we will plan together on how to catch all of them”.

He placed my head on a pillow. “Take a rest first before you start talking about planning with your big mouth”.

“You were by my side all these while?”.

“I missed you. I missed your ranting mouth. You need to see the way I was shouting, ‘come and scre-m at me again like you always do’ while you were still in a coma and Katie and Tyler were laughing at me”.

We burst into laughter.

He held my hand in his. “I am not a perfect husband but you love someone like me. Thanks so much”.

I smiled and squeezed his cheek. “What about grandpa?”.

“He told us not to tell your mother about what happened to you and didn’t come out of his room for the two weeks that you were here. He was obviously feeling guilty”.

The door pushed open and the doctor walked in. “Wow, she is awake and you didn’t tell me about it sir”.

“You can treat her later sir”.

The doctor smiled impressively. “Your husband has been the one cleaning you up since day one. He was always by your side. I wish to find such love someday”.

We broke into laughter as we watched him leave the hall.

I made eyes at Raymond. “People will think that you were by my side because you love me, they would never believe that you were only by my side because you were indebted to me for trying to save your life”.

He shrugged. “I have never loved anyone before so I don’t even know what I feel about you but the only thing I know is that, you are the only one that I want to be with every second”.

“That’s because you are fond of me”.

“One-day, I will prove it to you then”.

“You don’t have to”.

He drove me back to the mansion the next morning and the first thing that welcomed us was that a maid had found my underwear in Collins room.

Obviously planned by Jennifer Roland and Matilda.

Petty women.

Pa Brian fumed. “How dare you bring such stupid talk when she is just returning from the hospital after being in pains because of she wanted to protect our child!”.

Jennifer Roland nudged Jane Roland. “What do you think about this ma? Should we just brush it off?”.

“Gold would never cheat on my son. I overheard her discussion with Collins at the kitchen that day. She loves my son. Someone framed her”. Jane Roland defended me.

She was the one that had eavesdropped on our conversation.

…and now, it had saved me.

Jennifer Roland was disappointed.

Collins smiled at me. “Gold, why are you hiding the moments we shared together that night after you came back to apologize to me because of how you hurt me with your words in the kitchen?”.

I was surprised at his response.

His plan was really to destroy my marriage.

He continued. “…You had told me how your husband was not satisfying you in bed. Do you remember now?”.

I and Raymond broke into laughter as our grip tightened around each other.

The most surprising thing happened that moment.

Pa Brian broke into laughter.

No one had seen grandfather laugh that way before.

We were all laughing for the same reason.

Grandfather also knew that I and Raymond had never even touched each other before.

Jennifer Roland grit her teeth at us. “What is going on here?”.

“My wife is still a V-rgin”. Raymond said softly. “So, case closed”.

“You have not been sleeping with your wife all these while and you call yourself a man?”. Henry attacked him.

Raymond glared at him. “Even if everyone is talking here, don’t you have the conscience to know that you are not supposed to talk?”.

Henry panicked. He definitely knew that I had told Raymond everything.

Raymond leaned to k-ss me on my forehead. “Well, for your information, I will sleep with my wife tonight, after all she is mine. She will get eventually get pregnant one-day and all those people that are after destroying our marriage shall die!”. He grit his teeth at them and pulled me into our room.

I burst into laughter as soon as we entered the room. “Raymond, did you just do that?”.

He stopped short and stared at me. “Did you think that I was joking when I said that I will sleep with you tonight?”.

I panicked.

My heart was beating so fast.

I never knew that he meant it when he had said it to them.

But what about the plan i had with my father’s people?

Will it be achieved even if I sleep with Raymond? What if I get pregnant?

He searched my eyes. “Are you scared that it would hurt? Married men are the most gentle when it comes to breaking the V-rginity of their wife”.

I smiled and nodded. “Let me take a bath then”.

“I will bathe you myself”.

I was surprised at him.

He carried me in his arms into the bathtub and scrubbed my hair, every part of my body.

I have never been bathed like that before by anyone.

I felt so refreshed after he was done.

I changed into my night wears and sat on the bed as I waited for him to finish taking his bath.

It was a very awkward moment.

Raymond was going to have s€× with me today for the first time.

I had never had s€× with anyone before and I didn’t even know how it would feel.

He walked to bring out strawberries that were arranged in a plate and fed me. “Are you aware that strawberry signifies our love?”.

I looked mischievously at him. “…is that because I said you tasted like strawberry at Love hotel yatch party?”.

He nodded. “It is a proof that our journey of love will be sweet”.

I picked strawberry from the plate and placed it into his mouth.

He chuckled. “Your fingers in my mouth are turning me on”.

I pushed his face and he burst out into laughter.

Men will always be men.

He dropped the plate of strawberries aside and k-ssed me with meaning for the first time.
He was not k-ssing me because anyone was watching us that moment, he was k-ssing me because he wanted to

…and I remembered my mother’s words.

‘Gold, you are now a married woman. Those things shouldn’t embarrass you. How he k-sses you with meaning,how he touches you, how he looks at you, it is part of married life. If your husband touches you, it is a blessing’.

He explored his hands over my body and k-ssed me with more meaning.

I could feel his love in the k-ss.

I believed that was a beginning of his proof of love.

“I love you, Gold”. He whispered as he k-ssed me.

Tears filled my eyes. “I love you too, Raymond. I love you so much”.

He helped me take off my night wears and we were both unclad and not ashamed. (Just like the bible had predicted).

…he owned my body and I owned his.

It was that moment that I was realizing it.

He touched me until I was ready and poured into me.

It was not as painful as I had thought because I was very ready when he came in.

I drove to Fabian’s apartment the next day.

The place he lived with Laura.

Laura was not around of course.

She was at the shop.

Fabian looked guiltily at me as soon as he saw me. “Why did you come here?”.

“Are you Collins spy?”.

“What are you talking about?”. He avoided my eyes.

I walked into the house without being invited in. “You were the one that took those pictures of my husband with Margaret at the room that day”.

“I didn’t”. He stuttered.

“Work for me instead. I will pay times two of what Collins is paying you”.

“I have no idea of what you are talking about”.

“Fabian, we have known each other for more than ten years. If not for the information that you had released to me on time, my husband would still be at the hospital by now”.

Tears filled Fabian’s eyes. “If I let go of Collins, he will kill me. He is more dangerous than you think. He was the one that made the soup that killed Jennifer Roland’s baby the last time that she was pregnant with the baby of her last husband”.

“Jennifer Roland is not barren? She was pregnant before?”.

“Yes. Collins killed her baby by serving her the black soup that caused a miscarriage”.

“Can you give me all the information that you gave Collins please?”.

He cleared his throat. “That day that you were beaten by Henry, I had taken the full video”.

I gasped at him. “You followed him?”.

“He looked suspicious because of the way he left the launching and I knew that something was wrong so I followed him. I took the full video of how he had smashed your face on your car glass. I already gave Collins the video but I have two more duplicates. I will give you at the right time”.

I had to act fast.

If not, Collins and Jennifer Roland will be faster and I won’t be able to achieve anything.

Jennifer Roland had announced at the company this morning that she was going to call a board meeting for something very important in one month time.

What was she planning?

I sneaked into her room that night.

If I don’t put a recording device in her room before her plan is accomplished, her one month plan would affect Raymond’s position as future heir.

I definitely knew it.

I hid under her bed and tried to think of where I was going to hide the recording device.

She walked in and smiled to herself as she grabbed a doll that was lying on her bed, fully dressed and wrapped in a shawl.

She sat on her couch and began to br-astfeed the doll.

She was br-astfeeding the doll with seriousness in her expression.

Jennifer Roland truly had Bipolar disorder.

“You look just like your father you cutie!”. She chuckled as she k-ssed the doll. “I am very useless, that is why no man wants to stay with me. If I am able to gather the trust of the board of directors in a month time concerning what I want to do, men will start flocking around and I will be able to prove to grandfather that I am better than those stupid boys that he appreciate more than me”.

Someone knocked on the door.

Jennifer immediately hid the doll under the couch and walked to open.

It was Charity Roland. “Mistress, I saw someone enter your room before you got in just now. Someone is hiding in your room right now”.
