Have you ever felt those tickling butterflies in your stomach dancing for joy after an encounter with someone you feel attracted to?. That light red blush on your face that won’t go away and that shy countenance you have no control over? This was how Claire felt at that moment while speaking to her mysterious prince charming. Immediately Derrick revealed his name to her, she instantly fell in love with the name and couldn’t hide her excitement. “Nice name you’ve got, I must confess” she said and Derrick reciprocated the compliment, “you have a beautiful name too” he responded.

An afternoon that started off as a random one for Claire, ended with butterflies dancing in her stomach. The two love-struck individuals exchanged numbers and parted ways shortly afterwards. As Claire climbed upstairs to her apartment, she smiled faintly as she recalled her breif encounter with Derrick. It was obvious that she was into him and had no intentions of denying it at all. On the other hand, Derrick felt same way too and also thought about Claire on his way back to the campus. What a great beginning of something beautiful for the two lovebirds.

For over a week after their meeting, Claire had still not received any call from Derrick yet and it was beginning to get her worried because she felt he wasn’t that attractive to her as she was to him. The huge disappointment she felt hit her really hærd but it was too early to conclude that he was intentionally avoiding her. Just when the love-frustrated lady was about to give up every hope of ever meeting Derrick again, he called one fateful morning by around 9am.

When Claire initially saw the incoming call, she felt it was one of her course mate whom she was scheduled to study that day with so she picked up in haste. “Hello Nina, Goodmorning” she greeted but got the shock of her life when a male voice reciprocated her greetings. By then, she had slightly forgotten what Derrick’s voice sounded like so she didn’t know yet that he was the one calling. “Hi, please who’s this?” She confusingly asked and was totally shocked when she heard the name “Derrick”. Despite being excited to finally hear from him, she maintained a cold reaction and response because she felt she wasn’t that important to him after a wh0le week of no calls.

“Oh it’s you, Goodmorning” Claire coldly said after Derrick revealed himself. At that moment, Derrick needed no seer to tell him that she was pissed and not too excited to hear from him. He quickly figured she might be upset because it took him a long time to call after meeting her the week before. Being a responsible gentleman, he sought for a way to appeal to her emotions. “I am so sorry for hanging up on you for over a week now, it wasn’t intentional. I flew back to the states the next day after we met and just returned yesterday. I could have texted you while away but felt it was best I waited till I got back to school. How have you been? I kinda missed you” he calmly said.

Oh my!! At that point, Claire’s defense came crashing flat and the walls around her emotions lowered down. Being an understanding person, she saw reasons not to be upset with the very man that had occupied her heart for the past one week. Without even trying to hærd, her walls lowered down. “I totally understand and I’m glad you are back safely. I kinda missed you too” she said with a warm smile on her face. Derrick was happy that she didn’t push the issue further than he thought she would. They spoke at length that morning and scheduled to meet up later that day at the library to study together.

In just a very short while of meeting Claire, Derrick already knew her ‘love language’. She loved studying and researching together with him. Anything that had to do with learning usually turned her on. She fell more in love with him due to his brilliance and willingness to study with her whenever they were less busy. They read ancient books on skincare remedies, beauty ingredients and so on.

The deeper they got studying, the more addictive and drawn to each other they became and also the more they drew closer to finding out about the ancient mushroom-like plant that stops the hands of time in a person’s physical aging process. With each dust-covered book they opened in the inner chambers of the library, the more they were one step closer to knowing that such a plant existed.

Just like it was said earlier, every secret has an expiry date and that of ‘Mrs Eva’ came to light one fateful night while the two lovebirds studied together. At the time, they weren’t officially dating but were highly inseparable and were so close to revealing their feelings for one another.

That night as they studied a book that was written centuries ago, Derrick couldn’t help but admire the way Claire’s hair was packed upwards with few strands of hair in front of her face. He was smitten and decided to flatter her. “You know you are beautiful right?” He asked out of nowhere and she began to blush. “Awwn, you too; why so handsome? She playfully asked and they both laughed. “You are pulling my legs huh? Derrick said and began to draw more closer to Claire. Goosebumps covered her wh0le body as she watched him move closer to where she sat.

That moment was the perfect time for Derrick to finally tell Claire how he felt about her and possibly k-ss her but the wh0le atmosphere changed in a flash of light when she scre-med “Oh No!! This is impossible!! This can’t be true!!”.

Immediately Derrick heard those unexpected words from Claire’s mouth, his mood went from 100 to 0 real quick and he was thrown in a state of total confusion. “What’s impossible? Us being together?” He curiously inquired, “Oh no, I wasn’t referring to you dear. It’s just that I can’t believe my eyes” she said in between breath.

Without hesitating, Claire beckoned on Derrick to come closer; “just read this paragraph so you know why I am shocked” she said and handed the book she was reading over to him. Few minutes into the paragraph and he was in awe too. Finally, the anti-aging ancient beauty plant that had been hidden in a tunnel for over a century was no longer a secret. Two enthusiastic and zealous students had unlock the secret that was hidden for so many years. A little more research and the secret tunnel might come to light too.

As Derrick and Claire sat beside each other in total shock, they looked at one another and quietly said; “This plant can’t be for real”.
