Chapter Fifty-Two

“Mom!” He almost stuttered and walked close to hug her.

“Son!” The woman whimpered. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry for abandoning you. I didn’t mean to. I should have come back for you but I couldn’t come.”

“Mother,” Mike sniffed, rubbing his cheek on his mother’s hair. He had missed her scent. So much. Her warmth whenever he hug her. Her smile and everything.
“Thank you for being alive.” He added before disengaging the hug. He took her to where others are standing.

Still in shock, Hunter’s mother and his son hugged her too.

“Selena, you’re welcome back. You don’t know how happy I am.” Said Hunter’s mother.

“Aunty, I’m so happy you’re back.” Hunter seconded.

After some minutes, Selena explained all that happened and how she was taken and buried alive by Anthony.

“Isn’t that my dad’s foster brother?” Mike interrupted.

“Yes, son.”

“How did you come out of the grave alive?” Hunter’s mother asked.

“Nora, the grave wasn’t a deep one. The rain fell hærd on the soil making it a soft moisture. I was too weak to stand up. Only my hand was outside and I couldn’t even breath. That was when someone removed the soil and rescued me out when he saw that I’m still breathing.” Selena explained.

“This is really a great testimony.” Nora sighed.

“Mom, I’ve you eaten? Or you are thirsty?” Mike questioned.

“Mike, I still need your forgiveness. I just…….”

“I’ve forgiven you already, mom. I’m serious. I’m happy cause everything is settled.”
Mike said and looked at his mother straight in the eyes. “Anthony is dead already. He died in a plane crash. I found all the doc-ments and properties he took from my dad and took it. He was buried last year.”

“Really? He’s dead. Thank God. The wicked shall never go unpunished.”

Claire sat on the sofa in the sitting room and stared at her phone.
She was checking the calendar. The date she will be going back to her house.

It being four days since Selena came back. Everything has been smooth again. Hunter had explained to her what happened. She wished she and her brother will no longer be tormented by their uncle. Jonah.

And she’s yet to ask what Jonah took from Hunter that made him want to feel like killing him.
“Sis, are you okay? You haven’t touched your food for a while now.” Jason jolted her out of thought.

“Ah..yes. Don’t worry, I will eat soon.” She answered.
She has two days left in Hunter’s house. She sighed.

Two days for her contract to be invalid.
She’s grateful that this contract ended making her brother healthy and back on his two feet.
Jason had even told her his thought of going back to school again. But she’d declined and told him to wait for few weeks to get more better.

“You need to eat. Did that bas***d called you again?” Jason asked when he saw her playing with the phone in her hand.

“No, Jason. It’s just that we will be leaving here soon since you’re now healthy. I’m happy.” She smiled.

“Is he sending us out or what?”

“No! No! I know he can’t do such. It’s just a deal, okay? I work for him while he help me take care of you.” She lied.

“Ohh! Do you mean like housekeeper?” The naive boy asked and she nodded without hesitation.

“That’s it. It’s just for two months. Come on, don’t be worried about this. He’s giving me another $150,000 to take home. I should be able to start a business that money.”
She walked to the dinning table and sat down to eat her food.

“Seriously, I don’t think you should be k-ssing me right now.” Anita pouted.

“Why?”

“Because you don’t love me.” She replied.

“So, you mean I should only k-ss you when I’m in love with you?” Mike questioned and got a nod from Anita.

“I don’t want a one sided love. Tell me you don’t love me one more time and I won’t bother you about my love for you.” Anita looked into his eyes.

Mike smirked and drew her more closer. He fanned her neck with his breath.

“You’re just amazing, Anita. You won’t seize to amaze me. Do you want to who my heart belongs to?” He whispered.

“Who?” She replied with a hoarse voice.

She is about to get hurt. She really love him but unfortunately, his heart belongs to someone else.
What a waste of time.

She should have looked for another man.

“Are you going to tell me or not?” Anita gulped.

“It’s you.” He answered.

“Are you playing with me? Tell me who Is it?”

“No, I’m not playing with you. You know I don’t like seeing a woman hurt right before my eyes.”

“You’re trying to say your heart belongs to me because you don’t wanna see me hurt? Even when you love another woman.”

“No, Anita. What are you trying to say? I mean this. I’m in love with you for a very long time but I kept it to myself cause I don’t want to start any relationsh¡p.” He bent his head and k-ssed her.

“You should at least show some signs that you do but every time I talk about loving you, you’d give me a cold face.” Anita pouted.

“I’m sorry about that. That’s why I kept chasing and punching the guys that tried to mess around with you.”

“You made Henry landed in coma. I was so relieved that you didn’t kill him.”

“What I did to him was attempted murder.” He chuckled. “Let’s get back to work before we start receiving complaints from the customers.”

The sky was so bright and the sun was smiling well at Claire.

She had finished packing her things and was ready to leave. She was just waiting Jason to come out too.

She’d remember how she slept in Hunter’s arms after rounds of s€×. Throughout that night, they were in each other’s arms. Cuddling and rubbing each other’s body.

Hunter was determined to make her last day memorable, her last night with him superb.

He hasn’t come out of his room since she told him that she’s going. She appreciated what he did for her apart from the s€× they did.

At least, he should see her off.
“Won’t big bro come to see us leave? Or is e angry that you’re leaving?” Jason asked as he come out with his own luggage.

Claire almost burst into tears seeing his brother. He’s finally healthy. Her brother is back again. Now, he can go back to school. Go out to make friends.
Jason is back on his two feet again. Not that Jason that can’t even move to the otherside not to talk of standing up from the bed and walk.

He could smile at her again. He could do everything he missed doing.

“Sis, are you alright?” Asked Jason after he shook her shoulder.

“I’m fine, Jason. Let’s go! He doesn’t need to see us off. I think he’s busy with something in,side. Moreover, he already gave me money that we’d use to take care of ourselves.” Claire told him and he nodded.

“Let’s go then. But i will miss him.” Jason spoke as he dragged his luggage and followed Claire.
“He has done a lot for me. The best man I’ve ever seen.” He smiled.
