I woke up earlier before Jack and rushed some certain things that I needed to do that morning

Even the breakfast

Jack had already booked his flight the previous day against the following day
10am approximately

I went out to check on my bike and returned, only to see Jack sweating seriously even though the air conditioner was On
I turned to look at the air conditioner, to know if it was really working

I asked him why but he didn’t say anything

I waved it off because he didn’t say anything about it and I couldn’t push further

“You are need to meet the principal before leaving” I added as I walked closer to the bed

I sat at the edge

I could see the expression on his face

“Must I see him before going?” He asked
I had to look for a way to convince him

“This school you see is just exactly like others”

“Corruption is everywhere, I just need you to come with me to the School so that they will recognise your face as one of the scholarsh¡p opportunities”

“I mean if I should go on my own, there might be a mistake because I don’t know your full name” I added

That doesn’t make sense and that wasn’t the point

I just wanted him to come with me before leaving
And I really want him to get admitted

“No problem then” he replied

“Okay, go and take your bath first” I said as I stood up from the bed

He exhaled and removed some of the bedsheets that covers a little of his legs

He got down and walked in,side the bathroom
While I went out to bring my bike closer to the door
To make it easier for us

I went to the kitchen and served our breakfast in a bigger plate

“We are going to eat together” I said as I carried it to the room

I placed it on a stool that was in,side the room as I took my phone, just to keep myself busy

I scrolled down the school updates but there wasn’t anything there

“Oh that’s a relief” I said

I wondered what could be in,side Jack that he insisted on schooling in Stanford University
When he has already knew what was happening

That’s one of the reasons I want to be closer to him

Few minutes later, he walked out on his boxer and a towel on his neck
Covering his shoulder as well

He walked to where he kept his bag

“So did they tell you guys when you will be coming back?” I asked Jack

I always feel like talking whenever I am with someone that I like

So don’t blame me

“I think the date supposed to come with the email” he replied opening the zip of the bag

That was true

“Anyway, I have a gift for you if you get admitted” I said smiling
I was actually referring to Mira

“Which gift” he asked as he turned to look at me while I smiled the more

“Gift are meant to be a surprise” I said

“So it will be a surprise” I added

“As you wish” he said smiling as he focused back to his bag

He took out a yellow top and a black short
As he was wearing it, I used the opportunity to arrange our food

I puts the stool in between the bed and the chair I was sitting on

Ready to eat

“Are you a Christian?” I asked him

“100%” he replied while I smiled

“Then, pray”

“Wow, your girlfriend must be a good cook” he said as we were busy grinding down the foods in our mouths

“Which girlfriend?” I asked because I haven’t yet introduced anyone to him as my girlfriend

“The one who prepared this meal” he replied while I laughed

“I prepared it myself, I don’t have any girlfriend please” I said as I couldn’t control the laughter

He really thought that all men are the same

“Wow, that’s impressive” he said

“I never knew that you are this good” he added

We arrived at school with my bike and I parked at the parking s₱0t as usual

“Here we are” I said as I stepped down from my bike

“I always remember one thing anytime I look around this school” Jack said
I turned to look at him
I needed to hear that

“What could that be?” I asked him while he smiled

“My dream” he replied

“Which dream?”

“My dream of becoming part of this great school” he replied

It was great hearing that but I didn’t expect it
I thought it was something else

We got to the principal’s office but unfortunately, he wasn’t around

“Too bad” I said inwardly

Ajax suggested that we should see the assistant principal

That was her name

She permitted us to enter
She was wearing an eyeglass this time around

We greeted her as supposed and sat down when she asked us

One thing about how they built the office
As in it looks different from the ones at Mexico

There was another small room in,side the office

Ajax said that, it was where some important doc-ments are kept

“Ma’am” Ajax said sitting properly on his chair while Mrs Zina adjusted her spec for a clearer view

“Sorry that am disturbing you with this” he added

“What’s that?” Mrs Zina asked

“That sounds funny” Mrs Zina said after hearing what Ajax had to say

“You know very well that we look closely before doing anything”

“His exam will be his only savior here” Mrs Zina added referring to me

“Ma’am” Ajax said again

“Don’t support corruption Ajax, I know you aren’t like this” Mrs Zina said instead

“I trust him even more than you” she added
That could go a long way of saying many things

I just hoped she wasn’t one of those that I would battle with

“Let things go the way it supposed” Mrs Zina said

“Okay then” Ajax said

We walked out after some minutes of discussion

Ajax was saying something but I was busy looking around

I wanted to see the A gangs

“Jack” I heard Ajax called as he tapped me on the shoulder

“Oh” I simply said exhaling

“Are you thinking or what?” He asked

“Am sorry, I am only checking out the school” I lied

“So, by what time will you be leaving?” He asked

“Right now of course, I need to get home on time” I replied

“I forgot that you came to school with everything” he said as we laughed

“Anyway, I will take you to the airport myself” he added
It was kind of him

We walked close to where he parked his bike

“Jack” I heard someone calling from behind but I didn’t bother turning

It sounded deep as if the person was in,side a tank

“Jack!!” The voice shouted again and I turned towards the direction where it was coming from

I behold that same ghost boy I saw the previous day

I heard Ajax’s bike sound as it drives and stopped before me but I didn’t look at it because I was busy looking at the ghost boy

“I wish you safe journey” he added
I couldn’t believe it
I thought he wanted to hunt me

“What’s the problem?” Ajax asked I bent down my head to look at him, but he turned to the other direction where my eyes was

“Do you like her?” He asked again as he returned his face

“Huh? Who?” I asked as I looked at that direction again

The ghost boy was standing before someone
And that could be who he was asking of

“Not like that, am just wondering which level she is in her education” I lied even though I didn’t see the girl clearly

Ajax laughed

“Is it because of her size?” He asked still laughing

“Don’t get me wrong” I said instead and got on top of the bike

“You are funny” Ajax said and began to drive out

I turned to look at the ghost boy and he was waving at me

We arrived at the airport
I reported with my ticket and the bag I had

After some minutes, I was ready to go
Left for the plane to be ready

I walked to where Ajax was sitting
Waiting for me

I sat beside him, making a heavy relief

“That sign shows that you don’t need to go again” Ajax said while I smiled

“I just wanna meet my parents and siblings” I responded

“I like that love” Ajax said

“Am gonna miss you dude” he added while I smiled

“I don’t normally tell people that I will miss them or I miss them, they just need to read it through me” I said instead

I arrived at school with some of the A gang members

Alex didn’t come to my house like before because I asked him to go first and see how things were going on

Just as we arrived, Alex came to where we were

“Where is he?” I asked referring to the new guy we had an encounter with, the previous day

“He just left with Ajax” he replied

Just as he was saying it, we heard a sound of a bike, driving into the compound

We all turned to look at it, as we already knew that it was Ajax

I walked forward, and stopped him on the way by waving my hand as a sign to stop

“How are you doing brother?” I asked as he stopped

Instead, he smiled and ended up laughing a little

He gently removed the helmet

“All of a sudden?” He asked, dropping his helmet on top of the fuel tank

“When did you start asking me that?” He added still laughing
While I smiled

“We aren’t quarrelling, you know that” I said

“I didn’t say that either” he responded

“Okay then, let me go straight to the point” I said

“I know there must be” he picked up but I just smiled

“That guy” I said
He didn’t say anything, he was just looking at me

“Where is he?” I asked

“Why do you care to know?” He returned the question

“Hope he is not planning to school here?” I asked with a serious face
His face changed instantly

“Is this why you stopped me?” He asked

“That’s childish”

“I don’t want to discuss this with you, but stay away from that guy” he added as he took his helmet

“You know very well that we run things here, don’t interrupt” I said
He just smiled and wore his helmet but opened the glass side

“Let me not see that dirty game around him” he said and closed it back

He rode off immediately while I stood there watching him
Couldn’t stop thinking of how it would go

“He is not even sure if he will pass” Aiden said as he walked closer to where I stood
I turned to look at him

“Did he come for exam?” I asked him

“Yes, scholarsh¡p opportunity” he replied while I smiled nodding

“I thought as much because he was carrying his bags when he went out with Ajax” Alex replied

“Then, this won’t be a headache to us” Anthony said while my eyes were diverted to him

“Do you have a plan?” I asked him

“We just need computer literacy” he replied
The only computer wizard I knew in our group was Alex
We all turned to face him

“What am I going to do?” Alex asked

“We just need to make a way for him to get into the assistant principal’s office because she is the one in charge of this”

“He would log into her system and delete the guy’s paper” Anthony replied

“Wow, that’s a great one” I said

“We only need to get her password” Anthony said

“Aiden can do that” I replied

I came out of the hall after the last lecture of the day

It was becoming stressful because there was no friend to chat with

I noticed how boring life was without friends

I was walking out of the school compound when I heard a footsteps running towards my direction

I turned to see Sonia breathing heavily but she didn’t stop running until she gets to where I was

“Good afternoon Dan” she greeted
That was a good thing about her

So respectful

“How are you?” I asked

“Am good”

“Please, have you heard from Jack since after the exam?” She asked

That sounds caring
I took my phone and dialed Jack’s number but it wasn’t going through

“I don’t think he is still at California” I replied

“Why don’t you try his Mexico line?” She asked

I did but it was still the same

“You don’t need to be worried”

“He will come back probably tomorrow” I added

“I just want to see him before he travels entirely” she replied while I smiled

“Before he leaves, he must surely come here” I assured her

I got to our apartment and behold, Jack sitting right close beside my door

I couldn’t help it but to smile
He did the same as he stood up

“Hey dude” I said as we shook hands

“When did you come back?” I asked

“Not too long ago”

“I just decided to visit” he replied

The chair he was sitting on, was for the guy next to my room

*School campus*

I opened my door before taking the chair back to the guy before going in,side to meet Jack

“So, how was it?” I asked as I dropped my books on a table in,side the room

“The journey and the exam” I added as I sat down beside him

“It wasn’t easy”

“I just hope I get admitted” he added

“You don’t need to worry, it is sure” I said

“Do you have any food here?” He asked
It was sure that he was hungry

“Let me warm it” I replied standing up

“If necessary” he said while I laughed
But I still had to warm it

“Sonia asked of you” I said

“I will have to meet her when next I visited” he replied

“Are you going today?” I asked

“I haven’t seen my Mom because she went somewhere when I arrived” he replied

After two hours, I decided to visit home because it was already becoming dark

Even though Dan wanted me to spend the night there but I couldn’t

I really wanted to go

I got home and my Mom was already back from where she went

She was happy to see me

“I didn’t see you when I get home” I said
That was an indirect question

“Oh, I went to check if I could find anything doing”

“You know that I need to support the family as a helping hand to your Dad” she added

That was a good thought of her

That’s one thing some ladies don’t know
You shouldn’t leave everything for the man alone
They were created to help him

My Dad was yet to return from work

I decided to go to his working place

According to him when I get there, he was rounding up

I helped him with the ones I could do

It was just ironing the clothes

“That means work hasn’t been easy” I said
I was really feeling bad
Maybe I should be helping him rather than leaving

But my education was another hope for us

“It hasn’t been easy, even when you were here” he replied

“I remember but you need to be taking it easy” I said

We got home after when we were done

We took our baths and came out for our dinner

“So Jack, how was the exam?” My Dad asked

“When will you be going back?” My junior sister asked

“That’s two questions already” I said while we laughed a little because of the food

“Anyway, the exam wasn’t bad and I don’t know when I will be going back” I replied

“But do you like the school?” My Mom asked
That was mother care

It normally sounds different

“Yes, the school isn’t bad”

“Looks more expensive than the universities that I have seen” I added

“You just need to be careful when you get there”

The following day, Thursday

I followed my Dad to work

Not too long since we got there, I was about to go as usual, to get clothes when he called me back and sent me to get some detergent because we were short of it

When I got back with it, my Dad was already in position to start working because the wh0le clothes were lying on the floor

He collected the detergent and walked to the washing machine

Something that looks like a package was beside that same washing machine

I wondered what it could be
I waved it off and wanted to carry the white clothes

“Before I forget, someone gives you that” he said pointing at the same package I saw

“Who?” I asked and still carried the clothes to him

“She said that I shouldn’t tell you, that you will find it out once you open the package” he replied

I dropped the clothes and went to take the package

I opened it and the next thing I saw was a picture

I took it and smiled, seeing who it was

“That soldier’s daughter” I said

“Yes”

“But I thought they have lodged out” I said
Another indirect question

“Yes but they lodged in that evening when you left” he replied

“Is she in,side?” I asked

“No, they just left” he replied

“Oh”

“She asked of you that yesterday but I told her that you were at California”

“She couldn’t stop questioning me, then I had to tell her why you went there” he explained

I exhaled and looked back in the package

I saw an envelope
I took it
Another thing was wrapped in a paper

I waved it off and opened the envelope

It reads

“Dear Jack,

→→it is sad hearing your situation but you never complained
in,side this package is some amount of money that can take you long way to go back to school if the scholarsh¡p didn’t work out

But I will still like to see you when next we visit Mexico

Take care of yourself and know that someone really care for you
