Chapter 101 :- Pleasure and Massacre

In every living society whether it is the human or supernatural society, there are certain individuals that almost everyone avoids or despises and in the witchcraft society the individuals that everyone resents are the Anti-magic users. The name Anti-magic is something that every witch and wizard fears cause it’s a repels and destroys any form of magic no matter how powerful it is. However despite how powerful Anti magic is, it’s very rare cause unlike other magic or witch craft users, Anti magic users appear in scanty number every 10 to 15 centuries. The last time anyone saw an Anti magic user was 2000yrs ago and now in this modern age, Junior is now the one taking up that mantle.
It’s understandable why almost every witch or wizard hates Anti-magic users but what I don’t understand why they’re now being hunted after all these years. It doesn’t make sense at all and I need to know why. Ghouls aren’t exactly the strongest supernatural beings but if they’re interested in hunting Anti-magic users then something big and bad is definitely going on.

Presently, here I was with Onuya in the edge northern desert heading to Hadiza’s place. After telling her about what I heard from the ghouls, she insisted that we come here to Hadiza’s place to let her in on what’s going on but honestly, I see no point in that. What’s telling Hadiza going to do about the situation?
Minutes later, we arrived at Hadiza’s community and I must say it is rural. The community was more of a nomadic one, there was no modern building or structure just big tents and there was technology or electricity of any kind. How can these people be surviving in modern age like this? Before long, Onuya and I arrived at Hadiza’s place and she received us warmly.

Hadiza ➡ Onuya, why didn’t you tell me you were bringing a visitor! I would have prepared for your coming.
.

Onuya ➡ There’s no need. We have bigger matter at hand. Is your father around?
.

Hadiza ➡ No. He went into the desert to commune with the sand spirits. What brings you here?
.

Onuya ➡ Someone is hunting Anti-magic users.
.

Hadiza ➡ What? Did something happen to Junior?
.

Robin ➡ No but we need to know if he’s the only one being targeted. Why would anyone want to hunt them now after all this time?
.

Hadiza ➡ Hmm, I know a place where we can get the answer to your question.
.

Onuya ➡ Oh no.
.

Robin ➡ What?
.

Onuya ➡ Please Hadiza, don’t tell me you’re taking us cut throats?
.

Robin ➡ AH! Kini cut throats?
.

Onuya ➡ They call themselves… What’s their name again?
.

Hadiza ➡ Alharibayn….الهاربين
.

Robin ➡ Who are they?
.

Onuya ➡ Immortal desert beings, very good assassins and masters of stealth. Wherever the sand is, they’re there.
.

Hadiza ➡ And they’re very good at finding information.
.

Onuya ➡ You can’t be seriously thinking that we’re going to consult them tonight?
.

Hadiza ➡ Why not? The sand is cool by now and as you said it’s night or would you prefer walking into the burning desert sand under the hot sun, hmm?
.

Onuya ➡ By the gods, being your friend is a painful experience.
.

Robin ➡ Before we go, I would like to know what are their weakness.
.

Hadiza ➡ Water.
.

Robin ➡ That’s it? Water.
.

Hadiza ➡ Yes.
.

Robin ➡ So they’ll die if they get splashed with water.
.

Hadiza ➡ No, they won’t. As long as there’s sand, they’ll never die .
.

Robin ➡ Omo.
.

Hadiza ➡ Relax, everything is going to be fine. Just follow my lead and the rest is easy. Just give me a moment to change.
.

Robin ➡ Do you think everything is going to be fine?
.

Onuya ➡ Don’t count on it.
.

After Hadiza got dressed, the 3 of us left and headed out into the vast desert to go see the Alharibayn. I thought we were going to teleport to the place directly but Hadiza warned us against it cause the Alharibayn might think we’re invaders and they wouldn’t hesitate to cut us down. Trekking on the desert sand was no joke, the sand may be cool and soft but it was also heavy. It was as if the sand was holding on to my feet but despite all of this, there was upside to this trekking and that upside was Hadiza.
Unlike Onuya and I who were lagging behind, Hadiza walked gracefully with ease on the sand as if it was nothing. I couldn’t help but notice her walking posture which was very sexy, her slim waist moved left and right not to mention her wonderful behind which juggled up and down as she walked. Another wonderful thing I noticed was her long hair which swayed behind her beautiful backline. Not only was she beautiful and hot but her physique was a design from the gods. All her natural feminine assets were fully riped and also a good match for her physique. That Junior is one lucky brat bastard, I must admit that he has excellent taste in women. I cannot believe Hadiza will be his wife in the future. That damn brat is sure blessed.
After walking for like eternity, we all arrived at a particular spot on the desert that looked really strange. There was no heap of sand in this particular spot instead the sands here were leveled and the space in the area stretched on forever like there was no end. Shortly after arriving at this spot, the sands beneath our feet began to rumble and within a blink of an eye, a deep but powerful roar emitted from the sands we stood on.

Onuya ➡ Hadiza!!

Hadiza ➡ Relax Onuya, you know the drill. No panic.

Robin ➡ What’s going on?
.

Hadiza ➡ We’ve arrived at the domain of the Alharibayn!
.

Robin ➡ I don’t see them. Are they the ones making this noise?
.

Hadiza ➡ No, that’s their gate keeper. The desert serpent.
.

Robin ➡ Just how big is this serpent?
.

Hadiza ➡ Big enough to swallow 20 camels in one swoop.
.

Robin ➡ This is crazy.
.

Hadiza ➡ Remain calm or you kill us all.
.

I didn’t need to be reminded twice to realize the kind of situation we’re in. I thought that we were going to stand still until the noise died down but Hadiza suggested otherwise. She told us to walk calmly until we reached where the Alharibayn were. It wasn’t easy especially not when the desert snake was following us from underneath. It took us a while before we reached our destination and as soon as we did, the desert snake stopped following us.
For a moment, I thought we had scaled through the jaws of danger but what came next was even worst. All of a sudden, the sands rised abruptly and violently stinging us all over. It was like we were trapped in a sand storm. I covered my face and tried to see if I could see Hadiza and that others but all I saw was just darkness and specks of sands in the air. Before long, the sand disappeared as quickly as it came and immediately the sands were gone, the Alharibayn appeared and surrounded us.
Just as Onuya said, the Alharibayn were indeed desert beings. Their bodies looked skinny dried trees and they were covered in cloaks and turbans like the Arabs. They had bright white eyes and a menacing stare that made my spine rattle. What caught my attention was their footing which was still in the sand. I couldn’t see their feet at all, it was like they had merged with the sand. Shortly after the Alharibayn had arrived, Hadiza bowed politely before them and began to speak to them in Arabic.

Hadiza ➡ تحياتي لكم….. (Greetings upon you)
.

Deserter 1 ➡ ما الذي أتى بك إلى هنا أيتها الساحرة؟……. (What brings you here witch?)
.

Hadiza ➡ .أنا وأصدقائي نطلب انتباه الحكيم… (My friends and I seek the presence of the wise one)
.

Deserter 1 ➡ من الأفضل أن تكون نواياك جيدة وإلا فإن الموت الوحشي سوف ينتظرك…. (Your intentions had better be good or else brutal death awaits you)
.

I may not have understood what Hadiza and the deserter were saying but the last statement sure felt like a threat. Shortly after they were done conversing, the deserters vanished into thin air and within a blink of an eye, all the sands around us began to rise and converge in one spot in mid air and gradually, the sands amassed so much that it blocked out the moonlight in the Alharibayn’s territory. Just when I thought I had seen enough, the sand began to morph into some kind of gigantic being and within a matter of seconds, a giant sand monster with bright white eyes stood before us.

Hadiza ➡ Greetings Guardian!
.

Sand Spirit ➡ Greetings to you Hadiza. It’s been a long time since I last saw you.
.

Hadiza ➡ Indeed it has.
.

Robin ➡ Wait o. It can speak English?
.

Onuya ➡ Don’t have you any manners? This is the great desert guardian. Show some respect.
.

Sand Spirit ➡ I see you brought some friends Hadiza.
.

Hadiza ➡ Yes, we need your help on something.
.

Sand spirit ➡ I know what it is. The sands told me.
.

Hadiza ➡ Well, do you know what’s going on?
.

Sand spirit ➡ Yes. There’s a darkness gradually spreading all over and this is just the beginning. Unless you prevent it, all is lost.

Robin ➡ Wetin this guy dey talk about?

Hadiza ➡ Can you elaborate, wise one?
.

Sand spirit ➡ The Anti-magic is dying, every last one of it’s casters are being killed and massacred.

Hadiza ➡ Why? Nothing like this has ever happen before.
.

Sand spirit ➡ Yes but this time it’s different. Evlyn is afraid of the anti magic and in order to accomplish her goals, she needs them all to be wiped out.

Robin ➡ Excuse me Wise one but how many are dead?
.

Sand spirit ➡ 20
.

Robin ➡ And how many are remaining?
.

Sand spirit ➡ One. There’s only one anti magic left and he’s in this country.
.

Hadiza ➡ That’s Junior.
.

Sand spirit ➡ You fear for your betrothed?
.

Hadiza ➡ Junior is safe.
.

Sand spirit ➡ I’m afraid you’re mistaken. There is one that knows his secret. If she is not dealt with, the boy will die.
.

Robin ➡ Can you tell us who this *she* is?
.

Hadiza ➡ I think I know.. It’s definitely her.
.

Onuya ➡ Who’s the her?
.

Hadiza ➡ Thank you Wise one. We’ll be taking our leave now.

Sand spirit ➡ Thread carefully Hadiza, this path you’re walking on will not end well. There’s still chance for you to save yourself.

Hadiza remained still and quiet as she heard but it didn’t take long for her to shake it off her mind. In that moment, the Sand Spirit whom we thought was going to disappear lowered his hands upon the 3 of us until we were buried in it. For a moment, I thought I was dead but within a blink of an eye, I found myself in a construction site in Ibadan. The heap of soft sand that was kept there served as a gateway back to Ibadan. Before long, Hadiza, Onuya and myself emerged from the sand and dusted ourselves off.

Onuya ➡ I’m never doing that again.
.

Hadiza ➡ Just be grateful we made it out alive.
.

Robin ➡ I support Onuya. I can’t do this again. Just look at me.
.

Hadiza ➡ Enough talk, let’s go check on Junior if he’s okay.
.

Robin ➡ It’s 2:00am. We have to leave it until tomorrow.
.

Hadiza ➡ Why?
.

Robin ➡ Because going over there by this time of the night is suicide. Junior’s mom activates her spell always and since their house is in the middle of a thick forest, we’ll be walking into our demise.

🐞 Writer’s POV 🐞

As the evening night hours slowly pass by, Riley roams through the forest outside the premises of his house alone whilst thinking about his past. After walking around for a while, Riley stops underneath the Iroko tree that Christen always sits on and then places his hand on it. After staring at it for a while, Riley remembers the fond and precious moments he spent with Christen and the developing events that led to their union.

Despite getting what he wanted, Riley realized the sacrifice that came with it making him recall the options he was given by the supreme witch 30yrs ago after vanquishing Lucas at the council hall.
After rubbing the tree bark for while, Riley sighs and sits underneath the Iroko tree and begins to talk to it absentmindedly to it.

Riley ➡ I know this seems crazy but I can’t think of anyone to talk to at this moment. Tell me tree, do you think I made the right choice? I really love my wife Christen but was she worth all sacrifices in my life?
30yrs ago, The Supreme witch gave me two options, The first was to abandon everything and everyone I knew to be with Christen and the second was to forget about her completely if I were to go back living my normal life. I may have chosen the second option but somehow the first option came through for me. My parents died, my friends think I’m dead not to mention of my job which is now forever out of my reach. Don’t get me wrong Tree, I don’t regret marrying Christen but for some reason, I feel alone. Christen and my kids were my only company but now (sighs)… Christen has been comprised and she doesn’t want my company anymore and instead of my kids to live a good life, they’re busy facing and fighting threats. This is not the life I wanted for them. They deserve a life of peace, a better future. I don’t know what to do. If only there was somebody out there that can help me figure this out. (Sighs)

TOK ➡ Life isn’t fair, Riley. It never is.
.

Shocked by the response he had got, Riley leaps on his feet and looks around to see if there was someone lurking in the shadows but he saw nothing and in the midst of his confusion, he heard another voice again.
.

TOK ➡ Do not be afraid. I mean you no harm.
.

Riley ➡ Then why won’t you show yourself?
.

TOK ➡ Oh, I’m right in front of you.
.

Riley ➡ All I see is a…..
.

In that moment, Riley remains calm and mute as he stares at the Iroko tree in front of him. At first, he wasn’t sure if all this was real but what came next assured him that he was in fact experiencing reality. Within a blink of an eye, TOK raises from the ground and shows half of his true form to Riley. Shocked by what he had seen, Riley rubs his eye a couple of time to make sure he wasn’t seeing things.

Riley ➡ This can’t be…. How? After all these years…
.

TOK ➡ Relax human. No supernatural being can sense me out. Not even Christen but your daughter knows about me.
.

Riley ➡ How come you never showed yourself to Christen or myself?
.

TOK ➡ I choose those who get to see me. Being popular is a curse.
.

Riley ➡ So how long have you been here?
.

TOK ➡ Thousands of years but I move around every once in a while.
.

Riley ➡ This is incredible. So you’ve been hearing me this whole time?
.

TOK ➡ Yes.
.

Riley ➡ Who do you think?
.

TOK ➡ I only have this to say. You’ve always been a peculiar one even as a human. I’ve watched your growth ever since you were a kid and I knew you were destined for a different future from that of all your other human kind. You’ve always been a curious one and your curiosity is what led you to this moment.
Your contact with Christen marked the end of your normal life as a human, there was no going back from that. You may think that you’re normal but you’re not, not anymore. The moment you and christen connected, you gave up whatever humanity and normal life you had, her life and her world became yours. No matter how Christen tries to fit in or change, she can never be normal the way you want her to be. She’s a witch and you can’t expect to have a normal life with her, you’ll have to accept whatever that comes with it. Remember Riley, everything happens for a reason and every actions we take in our life has consequences. Your union with Christen wasn’t a mistake, people like you can never be satisfied with being normal so fate linked you with a destiny that suits you.

Riley ➡ So you’re saying I got what I deserved?
.

TOK ➡ Of course. Would you prefer a different future than this?
.

Riley ➡ No..
.

TOK ➡ Don’t worry about Christen, she’s going through some tough times and you’ll have to bear with her.
.

Riley ➡ She’s changing and it’s not good.
.

TOK ➡ Christen is strong, don’t give up hope yet. I know it doesn’t look good but you need by her side always so that she doesn’t lose herself. You’ve always been her light, she needs you more than ever.
.

Riley ➡ I just don’t want to be consumed by darkness.
.

TOK ➡ Think of her transformation as a survival instinct. Evlyn must be stopped at all costs. If she succeeds with her evil plans, all life will perish.
.

Riley ➡ She’s just one witch.
.

TOK ➡ No.. She’s the epitome of doom and despair. As long as she’s alive, there will never be peace. She must be stopped at all costs. A witch like her with infinite magic at her disposal can bring about the end of the world.
.

Riley ➡ Only God can bring about the end of the world and as long as there are those who believe in God’s power, the forces of evil will never prevail. There’s nothing a little prayer can’t do.
.

TOK ➡ I’m amazed you still have your Christian faith but it won’t be enough. Last time I checked, the world is filled with sin and the only ones that are pure are the newly borns. Do whatever you must to stop Evlyn Riley cause as long as she’s alive, the world will perish.
.

After finishing his statement, TOK instantly sinks back into the ground leaving Riley to reflect on what he had said. Whilst Riley was busy thinking about what he was told, he senses some kind of a dark presence lurking around the premises of his house and in that moment, he teleports there and then finds himself face to face with masked witch holding a knife made of black magical energy.

Riley ➡ Who are you and what is your purpose here?
.

Masked witch ➡ Impossible, you’re supposed to be dead.
.

Riley ➡ You’ll be the one to die if you don’t leave.
.

Masked witch ➡ I will but first I need to kill your son. So what’s it going to be?
