Two weeks later, we were all in front of the altar to witnessed the couples exchanged their vows.

They finally said “I do”.

I was the chief bride’s maid while my Daniel was the best man.

“I think both of you should just tie the knot today once and for all” Paul said and his wife supported the motion.

We all laughed it off.

“Don’t worry, just give us little time” Daniel replied him.

“Little time! Is he planning to propose” I thought within myself.

After the reception, we saw them off to the airport for their honey moon.

I really miss Lizzy, they traveled to Paris for their honey moon.

She called everyday despite the fact that she’s on her honey moon.

My love for Daniel increased on a daily basis.

The same with him. I frequent his office more often, I’ve dropped most of my extra lesson classes.

I and his secretary Lola are now friends although she’s younger than me. Daniel’s latest habit is gifts shower.

He showered me with all kinds of gift, some I even had to dash out. I lacked nothing, I was just working for working sake, not that I need the money.

It got to a stage I had to complain.

“You are spoiling me with too much gift” I said “Let me spoil you, you are all that I have here, you are my only family.

Daniel proposed to me after we had a dinner date in an exotic restaurant It was so romantic.

“Will you marry this man that is head over heels in love with you?” he said kneeling on one knee with a red velvet box in his hand.

“Yes, I will” I said with teary eyes. I was so happy. “I promise to love and cherish you for the rest of my life” he said and kissed me.

He took me home that night when we left the restaurant. He pulled over and held my hand before I alighted I got home that very day and told my family about my engagement.

They were all happy to hear the news.

I went to my room. I looked at the expensive diamond ring on my ring finger, I definitely know it will cost a fortune.

I remember where I was coming from, I couldn’t help but cry, I tried to hold back the tears but I couldn’t, I just let it flow.

Here I am with a man who loved and cherished me.

“Lord I owe it all to you” I said aloud. I found peace and fulfillment within me. I’m trusting God to give me all it takes to be a virtuous woman.

An hour later he called me when he got home. He thanked me for accepting his proposal and he made so many promises. Please who will turned down a marriage proposal from a man like Daniel.

Hi five my guy” I said and gave him a high five. They also congratulated me on my engagement. “Girlfriend I think you’ll need a bodyguard to carry that thing around” Lizzy said jokingly, “You can say that again” “It’s so beautiful”

She said admiring my engagement ring. “Thank you…” I said blushing. I asked Lizzy when she’ll resume work and he said the next day. “This is why I don’t like banking job, do you people rest at all” “Imagine the bank gave her just two weeks for honey moon leave. I had to pull strings to get an extra week” Paul explained

They left an hour later. **** During the week I decided to pay my Fiancé a surprise visit in the office. I got there and spent few minutes to chat with Lola his secretary.

“Dee I’m sorry for barging in on you unannounced” “Where is that my secretary, he rang her on the intercom” “Yes sir, you called me” She said when she walked in “Its like you’ve gotten another job right?” “Sir! did I do something wrong?” Lola said with pleading eyes. “So you now bend rules for her right, I’m even sure you know she’s coming but you did not dim it fit to tell me?”

. “I’m sorry sir I …I thought… I and Daniel started laughing at her. “So you didn’t know he was joking all along?” I pointed to her, still laughing. “You need to see your face” he said to Lola. She now join us in laughing too. “You scared me boss” “I thought you don’t fear me, now I know you do, you can go back to your office/sit.

“Boss you know I do but for every rule there’s an exception” she said smiling. “And she’s the expection!” he asked giving me a funny face. Lola nodded and left the office smiling. “I love surprises” he said walking up to join me on the sofa. He gave me a peck and sat beside me.

“You are not nice at all, she almost fainted you know” “I was just pulling her legs. What can I offer you?” he said smiling. “Nothing, I’ll just take cold water and I can help myself with that” I stood up and walked to the small fridge in his office, I opened the fridge and picked a bottle water. I went back to my sit.

“I brought you something” I said “What do you bring for me” he asked excitedly “I baked last night” I said and brought out the cup cakes I made for him. “You are a darling” he said and gave me a kiss on the lip.

He settled down and ate the cake, I served him a glass of juice. He fed me with some of the cake. After the light refreshments, he went back to his sit and started working. I noticed he was very busy, so I left after an hour. He was very grateful for the treat

. **** I got a call from Tunde, I was already fuming before I picked the call. his time, I’ll make sure I have him arrested” I said to myself before I pick the call. “Pamilerin, I need you, please come, there’s no one I could call right now” he pleaded “Tunde please don’t start, I don’t have time for your games”

“Pamilerin I have no one else, I have nobody, please…he said crying. “Tunde! crying, this is serious then” I thought “Where are you now” “My house,I mean the company’s house, I have less than 24hours to evacuate this place” he said sobbing” I’m on my way, I said before the line went off. I called Daniel and informed hi

m. “You want to go there alone, what if all this is a set up” “I don’t think so” “Are you not scared at all, do you have a death wish or something. This guy could harm you” “I can’t just turn a deaf hear on him, he has no relative in Lagos and I’m sure friends would have deserted him now that he has no money again” I explained “Give me the address, I’ll meet you there, in case you get there before me, don’t go in. Stay outside” “He can’t hurt me, but I’ll do as you say” “Daniella I mean it, wait for me before you embark on your rescue mission” he said firmly. “Yes sir! I’ll wait” I said stressing the ‘sir’ and ended the call.

I got to Tunde’s place and sighted my fiancé’s Range Rover parked in front of the gate.

Did he fly?” I wondered.

He came out of his car when he sighted him.

He gave me a side hug and we went inside, no gateman. The gate was not locked. We met him lying on the floor drunk to stupor.

When did he start taking alcohol?” I asked myself.

He had already packed his personal belongings. Daniel and I helped him up and made him sit on the sofa, he was crying like a baby, reeling of alcohol. “You need to man up guy! This is not the end of the world” Daniel said I picked one of the empty beer bottles on the floor.

“Now that you resolved to alcohol, as it solved your problems. Tunde is this the solution”

I raise the bottle to his face.

Tunde, you are a disappointment, take a look at you, you are a mess right now.

He buried he’s face in palms sobbing.

. “You need to take your bath and change, we need to get you out of here since you’ve been ejected” I said and pulled him up.

Daniel led him upstairs to the bathroom and return shortly.

“Daniella! What are you trying to do, where will you take him” he asked anxiously.

“Don’t worry he’s not coming to the mansion, I can’t allow him stay with you” I replied

“Hope you are not thinking of taking him to your house either”

. “No, he still has a friend who can helped, remember the guy from his former house?” Daniel nodded.

..I put a call through to Francis and explained the issue in ground. “What are friend for, you can bring him” he said.

“Thanks Francis, we’ll bring him right away” He came downstairs, he looked a bit better this time, we packed his things in the vehicle.

Daniel turn on the ignition, we were about to leave,

then Tunde asked “Where are you taking me?”

“To Francis’s” I said

“Back to square one” he blurted out, tears steaming his face.

I really felt for me, drop of tears fell from my eyes.

Daniel saw it and held my left hand and squeezed it gently.

I gave Daniel directions to the house

. Francis opened the gate for us, Daniel drove into the compound and parked the car.

We all exchanged greetings. I introduced Daniel and Francis. He moved Tunde’s things into his room. We all took turn in encouraging Tunde.

“You don’t have to wallow in self pity, pick up the pieces of your life and start all over again.

. I hope you’ll make the right call next time” Francis said

. “You warned me then, but I never listened. You told me its my loss if I leave Pamilerin, now I loss not only her but everything. Have learnt my lesson” Tunde said calmly.

“I heard you are brilliant, there are so many companies out there who are interested in people like you, so I think your next move now is to get another promising job and I wish you all the best” Daniel advice.

“Pamilerin was right he said your kind of man is rare.

I can see she’s right. Thank you so much Daniel for your help” Tunde said.

“You are welcome” “Send your CV to my mail, I still have some people who can help” I said

“I will, thank you” he said looking into my eyes.

I wanted to cry but I held it. “Promise me you won’t drink again”

Francis followed us outside, he really appreciate what we did for Tunde.

We also thank him for his kind gestures too.

Daniel offered to drop me off, I accepted the offer whole heartedly because I was so tired.

He dropped me off and left.

I called Tunde later in the evening to find out how he was doing

“Are you still using your old bank account”

“You don’t need to send me money, I’ll be fine”

“You want to live off your friend, housing you is enough, I don’t want you to be a burden to him”

. “Pamilerin you’ve done enough”

“Is the account still active?” I asked bluntly.

“Yes” he said and sighed heavily.

“Ok, good night and sleep well”

“I will, thanks. Good night.

I ended the call and made the transfer immediately.

I dont spent my salary, I never needed to, thanks to Daniel.
