CHAPTER 54…. 🕊️

“can’t you see where your go…. Mira” she shouted surprisingly. Even Mira was surprised to see the one person she hated on Earth.

Layla…. Layla Kendall…

Her biggest enemy from high school…

And

The reason why things had failed between her and Jayden.

‘whats she doing here’s both Layla and Mira asked in their minds.

“I should have known. Your the only one who has eyes but can’t see” Layla said and folded her arms.

Oh , how much she hated Mira. Jayden left her and the country because of Mira. Jayden could have been hers but Mira destroyed everything for her.

Layla had always wished for the opportunity to payback Mira but Mira disappeared for 5 good years and so did her mom. The last time Mira was seen was when she came to get her belongings in her formal apartment. And she was seen coming with a luxurious car…or at least that’s what Layla was told.

“What are you doing here Layla?” Mira asked instead looking at Layla. She examined her wears. Too revealing.

” Am an employee here obviously”. Layla said with pride.

” More like a stripper here” Mira muttered under how breath.

” What did you say?”

” Nothing that you need to hear” Mira replied back blandly.

” Hey,better add respect when talking to me. As you can see, am no ordinary employee in this company. I work with the owners of this company. We aren’t on the same level Mira” Layla said pointing a finger at her.

” What ever” Mira said sounding bored and uninterested. She rolled her eyes at Layla which got her upset. “What ever your trying to do won’t work”

” Really? It worked five years ago on Jayden” Layla said with a smirk.

Mira froze hearing his name. She hadn’t heard from him neither has she ever discussed about him. In fact she didn’t want to bring up her past.

“Shocked or angry?” Layla asked laughing seeing the expression on Mira face.

“Jayden,he had been a very easy catch then” Layla said sounding as if she was remembering those times.

But Mira didn’t respond. She needed Mira to retaliate. How was she going to belittle Mira if Mira won’t respond to her insult in the way she should. That’s with anger.

“You know I really enjoyed those times with him. You may have been his girlfriend but I had more of him. His time, his attention and even his body. You had none” Layla continued.

” That’s because you snatched him from me” Mira said trying to control herself as much as she could.

“Snatched? Jayden was mine right from start . You were just…what do they call it?.. ah…yes…you were the other woman in his life” now Mira had lost it. But before she could do anything. Ezekiel called her.

“Mira”, Ezekiel called out as he came outside of his office.

“Oh good day sir”, Layla immediately greeted . She bowed a little too much trying to showcase or probably catch his attention which Mira noticed and smiled inwardly. Although she was surprised to see that he knew Mira to the extent of calling her by her name.

“Yes ezeki….oops I mean SIR” Mira immediately corrected with a smile. Although Ezekiel wasn’t upset that she almost called his name . Afterall,he had given her the permission to do so.

Layla mouth almosy dropped to the group.

‘how does she know his name and how dare she call him by name? Something I have never thought of doing. You have guts Mira’ Layla thought in her mind.

” Good day Layla. Mira,this is my secretary Layla” Ezekiel introduced making Layla feel utterly embrassed. Mira wasn’t supposed to know what exactly was her job here.

Mira wanted to burst into laughter but she held herself.

‘can’ t believe Layla was bragging for her position here as an ordinary secretary’ 😂

” Yes. She just told me” Mira said innocently.

Ugh…Layla couldn’t stand it anymore.

” I’ll take your leave sir” Layla and was about leaving.

” Yes but wait, where’s Kate?” He asked about his PA.

“She had to rush to the accountancy department to correct some errors on the figures” Layla answered.
” She should be here any moment from now” Layla added and Ezekiel nods.

” Come Mira. Let me use this opportunity to explain some things for you”. He said and entered his office.

Layla balled her fists feeling angry.

” I won’t let you succeed here and take away everything for me Mira”

When Kate, Ezekiel PA finally arrived, she explained to Mira what needed to be done and how… And just as Ezekiel had said, she gave Mira some easy paper work to sort out.

Soon Mira got started on her work.
……a Few minutes later…..

Kate , Ezekiel’s PA came to call Mira saying Ezekiel needed her .

Mira left everything she was doing and went into his office after knocking.

She entered to see a man sitted facing Ezekiel.

“You called me” Mira said .

“Yes. Here she is. Your new PA” Ezekiel announced and the man sitted turned to look at mira. Mira stared at him surprised.

“Wait… What?” Both Damien and Mira exclamied.

CHAPTER 55… 🍭

“wait ….. What!!” Both Damien and Mira exclamied. Ezekiel looked at them smiling.

God, if Ezekiel had told Mira that he(Damien) was going to be her boss, she would have rejected the offer.

“But….” Mira wanted to say when Damien interrupted her.

“She can’t be my assistant” Damien immediately said.

“Mira, could you excuse for a while. You can go back to your work” Ezekiel said and Mira nodded.

” Okay what is your problem now?” Ezekiel asked.

” My problem is the girl you have chosen to be my PA” Damien answered back not smiling at all.

” Why? What’s wrong with the girl?”

“Everything. She isn’t the right person for this work. She’ll wreck everything… ” Damien sounded like he already had experience with Mira and it wasn’t a good one making Ezekiel confused.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, she isn’t suitable for this position.”

Ezekiel sighed…” Listen, I personally saw her work hærd for this for years and I wouldn’t put her in such a position if she wasn’t capable” Ezekiel explained but Damien still wasn’t moved.

“Give her a chance at least.”

“Whatever. Put it in mind that I won’t accept any mistake she will make…… ”

” She is human Damien ” Ezekiel interrupted.

” Don’t care” Damien said straightforwardly and got up.
” I won’t tolerate a single mistake from her” With that he left the office.

He headed to his own which had just been newly renovated. The smell of paint was still fresh in the office.

He sat on his chair behind his desk.

“Miraaaa” he yelled and almost immediately Mira dashed in to the office.

“Yes you called me.” Mira answered immediately but Damien didn’t reply rather he focused his gaze on the documents on the table.

Mira waited to see whether he had anything to say but he didn’t. He couldn’t have called her for no reason.

“Erm.. sir… You called me” Mira repeated.

“You didn’t knock” he said …” Is that how you barge into your boss office?” He asked seriously.

“Whaa….. But.. you called me so urgently in fact you s¢ræmed my name and…. ”
Mira wanted to defend.

” Talking back huh?… Seems like you want to lose this job before you start. Trust me, I’ll walk you out and Ezekiel won’t do anything about it” he threatened with his arm folded.

‘God, what is wrong with you Mira? This isn’t the time to be rude especially to this… Mr grumpy over here’ Mira cautioned herself.

“Am sorry sir”

“Keep it to yourself. Now go outside and knock” he ordered and Mira did as she was told while murmuring.

Standing outside, she took deep breath before knocking.

“Come in” she heard his thick voice and entered.

” Don’t just stand there, have your seat”Damien gestured with a smile as if he wasn’t paranoid just a few minutes ago.

‘but if I did without you saying so, you may overreact’ Mira said and rolled her eyes … Internally though.

“What were you doing before I called you?” He asked as he gathered some papers on his table.

” Kate, Mr Ezekiel assistant gave me some simple files to sort”

“Hmmm” ….

Was all he said and continued with what he was doing.

“Here” he handed her laugh documents. Mira stared at them on the desk.

“What are these sir?” Mira asked opening the first document on the top.

“These are the company files. Tracks of all transactions and sales in the company. I need you to have them sorted” he explained.

” How?” Mira asked.

Damien smirked. ” Since you were employed by Ezekiel himself without interview then you must know how you will sort such documents”

” But ,I don’t. This was going to be taught in the employees training next week”

” I don’t care how you do it. JUST DO IT. And there must be no mistake. Let’s test the abilities that Ezekiel so much bragged about” he said. ” Now leave” he commanded and Mira shuddered and got up. She had struggle carrying the documents. They were so heavy.

” Erm…I need a little help” she asked with the nicer voice she had. Her hands were too full to open the door

But Damien totally ignored her.

So,she kept the documents on the floor and opened the door and bent down to carry the documents while secretly hoping that her skirt won’t tear.

Mira had the most stressful day at work. Her brain couldn’t take it anymore. Mira had to go to Kate for help.

Ezekiel left early for a supposed meeting. He was quite thoughtful to tell Mira before he left.

Tired and exhausted she went home, to her room and dropped on the bed without changing her clothes.

Then…..

“Wake up” someone shouted in her ears ….She rolled to the floor.

“What the heck ?” Mira yelled while still on the floor

Anna and Isabella laughed their head off on the bed before helping mira up.

“Are you okay mommy?” Isabella asked with an innocent look. Like as if she didn’t just planned that with Anna.

Mira glared at them both and sat on the bed.

“Why would you do that? You could have just tapped me” Mira said taking off her shoes.

” We did.. you didn’t bulge” Anna shrugged . Isabella got down from the bed and helped Mira take off her shoes.

“Thank baby. But am still angry at you” Mira said feigning a very serious look.

“Am sorry mommy. It was aunt Anna plan. I didn’t want to do it” Isabella said leaving Anna wide-eyed.

” Hey…. Don’t you dare blame me. You came up with the idea” Anna immediately defended.

” No you did aunty Anna” Isabella accused back.

“You did”

“You did”

“No you did”….

Anna and Isabella kept on bickering back and forth and Mira sighed standing up. She was too exhausted.

Standing up, she grabbed her bath robe and entered the bathroom.

**”A FEW MINUTES LATER***

MIRA came out feeling refreshed but still tired. Anna and Isabella were talking about God knows what. Mira just ignored them and slumped on the bed.

“Hey” Anna nudged her.. “what are you doing? I didn’t wake you up for no reason” Anna shook her vehemently.

” Ughhh.. what again? ” She gr–ned.

” Come on. Kiel is back. His in a good mood .. perfect time to tell him about us moving out”

” Ugh… Tomorrow”

” No … Today” Anna kept on shaking her till Mira finally bulged.

With sleepy eyes, she got down from the bed and went to the stairs when she missed a step and was about falling till someone caught her.

“Huh…”
