CHAPTER 52😱

“huh?” Mira was surprised by what he said. She thought she didn’t hear him well.

“Wouldn’t you like to work at the family company? ” He asked changing his look to a serious one.

” No. It’s not that. It’s just…” Mira didn’t even know what to say. She was just overwhelmed.

” It’s just what.. ”

” Nothing. Thank you … For this opportunity” ….

“It’s okay” this statement made Mira smile.

Mira went back up to her room . Happiness overwhelmed her when she heard she was going to start tomorrow at the Lockharts company. This was biggest opportunity ever. It was grace speaking honestly.

After all, Lockhart company don’t just employ just a anybody. You have to have a high technical know how to start and you must have graduated with a good result.

A knock breaks Mira from her thoughts.
“Who is it?”

“It’s Annabelle” ….

‘anna, why is she here by this time?’ Mira got down from the bed, turned on the lights land unlocked the door.

“What’s wrong?” Mira asked as soon as she opened the door.

Rather than answering, Anna just enters and slumps on her bed.

“I saw you talking with Kiel, did you tell him?” Anna asked. Mira closed the door and pushed Anna body a little since she was occupying all the space on the bed.

“Tell him what?” Mira asked slightly confused.

“Ughhh… Don’t tell me you forgot Mira. We have been waiting for 5 months for this opportunity” Anna exasperated.

” Okay. But I still don’t know what will we are talking about” Mira shrugged and adjusted her pillow.

She placed her head on her pillow. Anna adjusts herself on the bed till she’s the same height with her.

“About us wanting to move out and live alone…’together’ … Does that ring a bell? ” Anna said emphasizing the together part.

Mira finally understood what’s she saying. About a year ago, she, Anna and Kira had planned to move out and live in an apartment together.

Kira’s parents agreed but sadly, Anna’s own didn’t. Especially Ezekiel. He kicked vehemently against the idea. But the had struck a deal with him. The deal was to last 5 months and now …. It’s over. This was the best opportunity to ask again. While things are going smoothly.

“Yeah I remember. But why do I have to be the one to remind him. You do it” Mira told her.

” I would have done it but your the only one who can convince him”

“Why me? Your his sister”

” Your his wife” Anna said with a smirk.

” Wait …. what?” Mira sat up immediately staring at Anna wide-eyed.
“What did you just say?”

“You heard me” Anna too sat up and shrugged.
“Wouldn’t you love to be Ezekiel wife someday?” Anna asked keenly.

“Your crazy.” Mira said and laid down back.

” Maybe. But just imagine it. Mrs Mira Ezekiel Lockhart. Catchy right? The wife of the first son of the billionaire Mr Lockhart.”

“How can I…I …mean….uh…noo…am not worth that position or name” Mira finally said.

” But..”

” No buts Anna. Let’s end this topic about marrying your brother here” she couldn’t continue thinking such. She didn’t want to have dreams of marrying him when clearly, that will never happen.

Anna stared at Mira for a while before finally shrugging.

“Anyway, your still the one telling him.”
Anna said and lied down too.

Mira was about to argue on that when another knock came on the door.

“Who is it?” Both Mira and Anna asked.

“Mommy” Isabella little voice was heard. Mira was surprised. She got down from the bed and went to open the door.

“Izzy” Mira carried her in her arms. Isabella was holding her teddy bear .
“What Happened?”

“Mommy. I think there’s a ghost in the room. It keeps Making weird noises. Am scared mommy” Isabella said. She sounded close to tears.

” There’s no such thing as ghost darling. ” Mira tried convincing Isabella.

” No mommy. I don’t want to stay there anymore. ” Tears dropped from Isabella eyes and Mira finally gave up

“Don’t cry honey. Wanna stay with mommy for the night?” Isabella nodded enthusiastically.

Mira smiled and close the door.

“Aunt Anna” Isabella was surprised to see her aunt here already.

“Hey baby girl”, Anna chuckled.

Isabella giggled as Mira dropped her on the bed beside Anna.

Turning off the light, Mira lied down beside Isabella. Isabella cuddled her and her teddy bear before finally falling asleep.

“Come Izzy. The school bus will be here soon” Mira shouted as she arranged Isabella uniform on the bed while waiting for her to finish using the potty.

“Almost done mommy” Isabella shouted back from the toilet.

Mira hummed to herself as she arranged Isabella room. Her clothes, shoes,bed,etc.

“Am done mommy” Isabella announced. Mira goes to clean her.

Then dress her for school.

She wears her her uniform and her black shinny shoes.

She braids Isabella hair in two halves .

Now she was ready.

“Be a good girl okay” Mira advise and Isabella nodded.

Mira plants a little k-s on her forehead and soon, the school bus pulls over and Isabella enters. Isabella stops at the entrance and waves good bye before entering fully.

Finally…she was ready for the today. Time was still on her side. The company was 20minutes drive from home.

“Let’s go Dan” she told the new driver Dan and soon , they left the mansion.

Mira looked at all the job vacancy needed in the company on her tablet when she heard a collision.

Their car had collided with someone else own.

“What Happened?” Mira asked shocked.

“Am sorry ma’am. It was the other car driver fault. ” The driver tried explaining.

Mira looked at the other car. She saw the back seat door opening. Mira too got down from the car.

The car was a limosine. A black shinny limo.

A man comes out of the limo dressed in white suit.

” Can’t you be careful?” Mira shouted after inspecting the damage done on the car. It isn’t even her own car. How was she going to pay for the damages.

The man who wore dark glasses was extremely shocked to see her.

“You?!!!” He exclaimed surprisingly.

CHAPTER 53… 🌹
“You!!” He exclaimed surprisingly.

“Me???? What do you mean by you?” Mira asked very angry. How was she going to explain to the Lockharts about the damaged car?.

He looked at her. He can’t believe he would meet her again. It’s been years.
And she hadn’t changed much. Only that she looked more matured and prettier and healthier and definitely fatter than that day.

Ofcourse she would, 5years ain’t five days.

But no matter what, he hated this lady in front of him with passion remembering his first encounter with her.

FLASHBACK
The car pulled over at the a cafe called “Have a drink”.. it wasn’t a fancy one but he loved the taste of their coffee and right now, that’s what he needed before going to find solutions to the problem at hand. He hadn’t slept in days. He had been coming here to drink coffee to help keep awake.

Yes,too much coffee ain’t good for the body but what can he do?.

“Are you listening to me at all?” Dylan asked as he snapped his fingers in his face.

” Huh…” he finally snapped out from his thoughts.

“What got you thinking so deeply ?” Dylan his bodyguard asked taking a gulp from the bottle water he held in his hand.

” What sort of question is that?” He snapped back at Dylan. ” Aren’t you aware of the situations at hand already?”

“I am but you gotta chill. Don’t let your problems be bigger than you” Dylan said but he didn’t reply to his statement. This wasn’t a time for chilling.
The matter at hand was too big to just rest on.

“We are here sir” the driver announced that they had reached the café. Both men got down and entered the cafe where a young lady immediately showed them to a table near the window as it was their favorite s₱0t.

She was about to get their coffees when another customer called her. So rather, a different waitress was sent to serve them.

He was focused on his phone and so was Dylan when a call came in.

“Yes ” he said as he answered the call.

“Where are you bro?” His big brother asked over the phone.

“At a cafe … Why?”

“Dad says we should all come home now. He has something important to say” the brother informed.

” Can’t it wait?!! I just got here” he gr–ned.

” No. Come home now!! ” And the call ended.

” What happened? ” Dylan asked seeing the frustrated look on his face.

“Dad wants me home”

“Well, I guess I’ll grab our coffee to go” dylan said as both men got up.

” Yes… And meet me in the caaaarrrr” he gr–ned loudly in pain as the waitress bringing the coffee collided with Him spilling the hot coffee on him in the process causing him to s¢ræm.

His s¢ræm attracted the attention of everyone in the cafe.

“You fool” he cursed and moved back in pain. Dylan held him before he collided with the chairs.

“Am sorry sir” the waitress apologize immediately.

“What have you done Mira?” Her madam exclaimed as she came to the scene after hearing the shouts.

“It’s your foolish waitress.” Dylan replied as he glared at the girl standing and looking at the floor.

“Get out” her madam shouted and Mira scrambled away.

“Call the police” he ordered immediately. Dylan nodded and immediately dialled the cops numbers.

“And Sue this establishment”

“No sir. Please. Don’t. This is the only place of survival for both I and my family. Please don’t destroy everything we have” the owner pleaded and she went on her knees. Her other employees too went on their knees to beg and some people in the cafe who wouldn’t want to see it close.

Damien just hissed and was about walking out when the owner hugged his legs.

“Pls… Don’t do this to me. I’ll pay for the damages” the woman pleaded once more.

Damien raised his ✋ hand and told Dylan to stop.

” Yes… It’s called….. You know …. Nevermind…. It’s settled” he told the officer in the call and cuts it.

” You will have to pay alot” Damien said…

After the matter was settled, Damien and Dylan left. Mira was at the back biting her nails. She had f–ked up big time and she knew she wouldn’t be spared.

“Miraaa!!!” The owner shouted her name before she got to the back.

“Get out of my cafe. This instant”
END OF FLASHBACK

AND HERE she was standing in front of him. Mira didn’t even notice that he wasn’t listening to her. She kept on ranting about the damaged part of the car.

“Hey are you even listening?!!” Mira finally realized that she had been talking to herself asked.

He just hissed and was about entering the limo when Mira immediately blocked the door. They had already created a traffic but neither of them cared.

“Heyyy… Where do you think your going? You can’t leave till we settle this if not I’ll call the cops” Mira threatening and he just chuckled.

” The cops? Do you know who I am? ” He asked with a smirk.

‘oh how I wish I can slap that smirk off your face!!” Mira said in her mind.

” Who TF are you? I don’t care who you are. You aren’t leaving till you pay” Mira insisted.

” Fine then. ” He dips his head into his car and brings out a stash of money.

“Here” he throws the money on Mira. But it’s doesn’t scatter since it’s bounded .
” That should be more than enough” he said and finally enters his limo.

Mira scoffs and pick up the money

“Useless”

First day of work and someone destroys her mood already.

“Oh God” Mira lamented as she remembered how encounter with the man this morning.

But something else bothered her. It felt like she knew him from somewhere but where?

Well, she had better things to worry about.

“Hope I ain’t late” …

Soon , she arrives at the company and woahh!! It’s quite big and awesome. In fact, Mira had no adjective to describe it(neither does this author🤧). Giving the driver the money , she told him to have the car repaired.

She entered into the company and was greeted by the receptionist. So many people were there too, waiting for their turn for interview.

“Good day ma’am” Mira greeted the receptionist at the counter.

“Good day . How many I help you?”

“Am here for a job vacancy”

“Please , take your seat and wait your turn” the woman pointed to the bench where lots of people were already sitted.

“But I…”

“But what?…that’s where everyone else stays” the woman informed her.

” Don’t worry Mary. I’ll take it from here” she heard Ezekiel voice and she turned around to see him coming towards her.

“Sir, she came for job vacan…..”

“I know. Forget about the interview. She’s already employed. Tell the interviewer to take in her details” Ezekiel commanded and gave them Mira’s CV.

” Okay sir” Mary said and went to the room where people were interviewed.

“Come with me” Ezekiel said and Mira couldn’t help but giggle. Nevertheless, she followed him. People started as Ezekiel and Mira passed them. They had heads turning.

“What’s funny?” Ezekiel finally asked when they got in the elevator.

” It’s nothing. You just sounded so.. professional.” Mira said with a smile Making Ezekiel smile too.

Soon the elevator opened and they both walked out.

This was the highest floor and it had less people than the other floors. Well it’s only one floor Mira had seen so far: the last and the first.

“This is where the higher-ups in the company stay. That’s why it’s less crowded” Ezekiel answered Mira’s question without her asking.

” Oh… I see”

“Yeah. Just them and their PA’s” he said and paused. He arrived at his PA desk but she wasn’t there.

‘she’s never here’ Ezekiel lamented.

He enters his office and offers Mira a seat and he goes to his own too.

“Speaking of PA, that’s what you’ll be working as till when you get a promotion. Wouldn’t want to be partial” he said and flashed a smile which Mira smiled back.

” You will be the PA to our business manager who will be arriving any moment from now” he concluded and Mira nodded.

” My PA will give you some simple documents to sort out for him before he gets here. And she’ll show you to do that. Although later on , trainings will be given to new employees” Ezekiel said and paused. Mira’s face was completely blank. No expression.

“Are you following? Do you understand?” He asked

“I do Sir” Mira said and Ezekiel smiled again. Okay, he has been smiling too much lately.

They heard some noise outside.

“Seems like my PA is back. You can go outside and wait. I’ll be there now” he said and Mira nodded and got up.

The moment she opened the door, she bumped with someone.

“Can’t you see where your go….. Mira!!”

Who remembers when Mira was fired at her first work for spilling coffee on an important guest in the early part of this story….(I think it should be chapter one🤔)
