“that’s not even the problem,
but why did her late mother say she should not narry-
is there any consequences attached to that?” the prince asked.

I scratched my neck.
“the thing is that Adeife is a bad girl, a no go area as at that.There are many ill luck surrounding her birth, she cause nothing but trouble,so when her mother was dieing, she said Ife mustn’t marry” I lied.

“buy she is a good and hærdworking girl.What do I do,I really like her”
he said in a hurried look.
I bite my l-ips- that brat.

“why not marry my daughter Olamma do you think Ife’s heart is as beautiful as her body,her curves are for deception” I said.

“I don’t understand what you mean by that.Compared to most people in this household,her heart is so much beautiful with very exception character alongside with the way she intEr×¢t with her fellow humans”

I smiled but I wasn’t happy.
how can I push Ife to this prince?.

hmmm I will just use my sense to use him get Ife back and at the end, I won’t give Ife to him.

“so how much do you need” he asked.
I jolted from my thoughts,
then cleared my throat.

“I sold her for four million naira,
then I will need 100thousabd silver coin for the sacrifice so that she won’t be a standby to you” I said.

“if I provide all that,will I get the girl?” he asked.

The prince stood,
some royal guard came in with so many stuffs,soon they left.

and we both turned.

I closed my door quietly.
“hey” someone called.
I turned in full surprise and it turn out to be one of the twin prince.
You see I can’t even differentiate them.They are so identical.

He approached.
“hi,lotanna” I said.
“am not lotanna” he moved his eyes in a roll.

“ohh pardon my manner of recognition” I smiled.
we both strolled downstairs.

“so gist me,what did I miss?”
he asked as we approached the garden.
“my prince you can’t go there now, they are sweeping it” ikechukwu said.
Jedinna looked at him,
ike quickly bowed.

“you actually stayed extra long.If not for the feast today,you wouldn’t have return” I said.
he turned to look me again.

“I didn’t stay long intentionally,
it was the endorsement I got that made me stayed extra time” he said.
we talked as we approached the garden.

Adeife was there with three other maids,they quickly knelt.
“long life to his highness” they choroused.
Ife was behind since she was the one watering the plants.

Jedinna didn’t even turn to look at them not to even talk of answering their greetings..

they greeted again.
He glared at them as he walked pass them..

“you can just continue your work”
I said instead.
“okay sir” they replied and stood up.
I turned,Adeife was looking so confused.
I hope she can differentiate between Jedinna and Lotanna.

Adeife’s p.o.v💗💗💗

I got confused,the other maids stared at his back view in surprise.
“he didn’t reply our greetings”
Ebere said.

“gosh,I felt embarrassed” said Rhoda
“see the way he threw me away like some cheap vegetables” dumebi said.

“he might be in his mood swings”
Ebere said.
“are you sure that’s prince lotanna?” Rhoda asked.
“yes,he is the one.Prince Jedinna just returned yesterday he must be resting in his suite” Vicky said.
I shakes my head.

“lotanna is not rude,he is so humble” I said.
Dumebi laughed.”see who is speaking? how do you know he isn’t rude.Rude people always appear to be humble in the outside” she said.

“it’s not him” I said.
“how do you know he is not the one? or are you close to him” dumebi said.
“you’re so senseless for paring a noble and a slave” I said.

Mrs okafor came,
we stopped talking and faced our work…
“hurry up,the guests are arriving” she said and put down two baskets of fruits.
“Ife and Ebere take this to Amarachi’s room” she said.

dumebi and i carried it.
soon we arrived and knocked gently.
the door was opened from the in,side. We entered,
Aunty Tracy was seen packing Amarachi’s hair.

“good morning ma’am” we greeted.
Aunty Tracy smiled..
Her phone rang,she signed and picked.
📲 Desmond why didn’t you pick my calls???.

📲 tell me is my offense too much.
Aunty Tracy rolled her eyeballs.

I looked at Ebere.
what are we still doing here,let’s drop this and leave!.

I don’t know what uncle Desmond say to aunty Tracy that make her laugh….
when will aunty Tracy find out uncle Desmond is not what she think he is?

Ebere and I dropped the baskets of fruits.We left but the good spirit in me wanted to tell Aunty Tracy about what her fiance wanted to do with me

I said when we got to the corridor.
*okay” she replied and I went into Aunty Tracy’s place.

“aunty good morning ma’am”
I said.
She smiled.
“I want to tell you something” I said.
“okay,am listening” she said so humbly.

“Aunty Tracy you don’t need to trust too much, the person you love today might turn out to be your enemy.
You deserve someone better than Uncle Desmond.

I imagined myself saying.

you’ve been standing without saying anything” Aunty Tracy said.
I breathed out.

I nodded and left.
I met Ebere and we both walked back.

“have you seen an incense staff before?” Ebere asked.
“no… but I heard it is only V-rgins that can touch it.If a female that is not a V-rgin touch it,she will get sick till death.That staff is very powerful, only the royals use it” I said.

“so who will hold the incense staff for today?” Ebere asked.

“come let me show you where the staff is” Ebere said and I followed her happily.

the maids that passed also stopped to admire it.

we heard princess akuna stern voice,

The queen approached,

The twins prince were coming from opposite direction.
They look so identical.

princess shadia faced down and there was tension on Xara’s face as well.Ebere laughed lowly.
“okay ma’am I will just get the incense staff for you” Princess Akuna said and approached the glass.

she opened it.
hmmm is she really a V-rgin?.

A tear dropped from her eyes,
Xara rushed to her.
“ohh Akuna,your sickness again.It had arrived in full” xara said.
“look here the physician just came”
Adaeze said.

we turned and there was a middle aged woman with a box kit.
she rushed to Akuna,
then she felt her pulse.
Her face was now dull,I mean so dull.

“hnn nothing is wrong with her”
amarachi said.
I felt one of the twins prince walked away with his l-ips pouted so beautifully.
I knew instantly it was lotanna,he is fond of that.

“how can you say nothing is wrong with her,she had been down with fever for the past one week and is just recovering fully” the physician said.

“that’s true,her mother told me about her health issues.Someone help her to one of the royal room for medications” the queen said.

hmmm I moved out and went to akuna side so I can help her.Xara rolled her eyeballs and held Akuna’s other shoulder.
the other princess walked away,
they don’t want the queen to call on them.

“who do you want to touch?”
Akuna asked,harshly.
the queen turned,I hastily grabbed her stuffs.
she gave out her hands when the w
queen turned.

“where exactly should I touch?”
I still don’t understand why she hates me..the queen walked away.
“I will find someone else to take the incense,Amarachi is still young and not up to eighteen” I heard her saying.

I cleaned my hands on my wrapper and still wanted to help Akuna.
“my sleeve,don’t touch my hand” she said and I held her sleeve till we got to the royal room,
I dropped her stuffs on one of the heavenly couch.
The other princess came in.

“are you sure you can still attend the feast?” one of the princess asked.
what am I still doing here….
I went out and passed that gkadd where the incense staff was then I got to the maids suite.

Rhoda, Vicky,chioma and dumebi rushed to me.

Rhoda the youngest said.

“what do you expect from someone like Akuna- is that the person that want to marry a prince” Ebere said and we all laughed.

Ebere said.

“does that mean there won’t be prayers for the prince in tonights feast–the incense is the gods staff of authority” chioma said.

we stopped talking and dressed for the nights feast.

I got so angry ad I look at Akuna on the bed pretending to be down with fever but I couldn’t talk right now….
if I should talk in my angry state,
Akuna and I will fight.

“you really did well,I was so scared. I mean seeing the almighty Akuna getting embarrassed in front of those poor and insulting maids.
They will laugh at us” Xara said.

I got more angry.

I strolled around the compound with a glass of wine in my hand.
I heard the securities telling a girl that she can’t enter.

“hmm sir please,she is my sister she came to see me” a voice that sound like music said and the girl was allowed in.
Turns out to be ngozi.
“could you wait for me in the maids quarter,I was sent on an errand” Ife said.
“sure” ngozi replied.

ife approached where I was standing with a basket filled with coral beads.
waoow,she’s so beautiful!.
her skin glittered even though it was dark,her fairness still lit up darkness.

why isn’t she dressed as a maid?.
anyways,these cloth suite her.
if only she’s not a maid.
“I greet you” she said,humbly.
“wait” I said.
“is it me or someone else?” she asked.
“yes you” I said.
she came and bowed.
“what do I need to do for you?” she asked.

“why didn’t you dress like a maid?” I asked.
“aunty Tracy said I should stop it” she replied.

Jedinna and i dressed fully as a king.
I still had to pull out most of the custumes.To be sincere I don’t like it at all,am just wearing it because of the incense and would take it off soon….

“I still haven’t found a V-rgin”
mother said.
“why not call Akuna,she’s sick doesn’t mean she can’t touch the incense” Jedinna said.

I walked away and entered my room, the first thing I pulled out was the crown.I feel like i toon off a huge load away from my head.

I can’t imagine dressing like this.
Soon enough,the intercom beeped.
I checked the projector,
it was Amarachi and Ife…

I opened the door,they both entered.I got carried away by ife’s beauty.
aaah this girl won’t kill me.
“mother said you should select coral beads” Amarachi said and left,
it’s actually a prank to bring Ife for me…

I watched her drop the basket,
then we stared into each other’s eyes, no words..

I blinked my lashes.

I wait and wait and wait,
Adeife wasn’t coming…..
I wanted her to drop the incense here so it would save my mom the stress of looking for a V-rgin.

I was almost giving up Ife would come,the inner door opened and there she was with the incense.
“nobody saw me,this is it!
“where should I dropped it?” she asked innocently.

I couldn’t comprehend my happiness as I quickly went to her.
“drop it on that place–”
I said.
The door opened,
Ife got so scared as she quickly hide behind my back.
