Jay episode 14 – 15

Jay

Chapter 14

Story by, Rejoice

Nana’s POV [Continues]
It was eleven minutes to twelve when we set out to head to the forest..

Jardel choosed to drive and I hissed twice before giving him the keys.
I yelled continously at him on how he drive too roughly.
I just hate that he’s here!

Even though I wanted him back…

I love… I loved him.

But I don’t understand why I don’t f-cking want him again..

He should go on with Becca..
God! I don’t know why im stuck inbetween two misery.

A heartbreaker and A ghost!
Pedro accepted to pick Kiki if we by anyway come back too late… But that would never happen.

Though we (Jardel and I) gave him an excuse of going elsewhere not to a forest to search for a dead body or rather, a half-dead body.
He’do think we’ve gone nuts.
“Im not spending more than four hours in that forest.” I said.

Jay was at the back so I couldn’t see him but im sure he knows Im talking to him.
“Don’t be scared Nana.” He said from the back seat.

“Im here with you.” Jardel said.
I glared at Jardel.

What did he mean by that?

Idiot.
The drive was silence, except for my continues loud beating heart..

An hour later, Jardel pulled to a stop at a little track road that leads into the forest..
“This is the road I saw the highway from,” Jay said just as we saw the long narrow track road.
I had a black pullover with me, so I pulled it on, packed my hair into a bun and Jardel took the tract road, riding into the forest..
The forest felt so cold and I was getting scared.

Scared? Why?
Jay was still at the back and his gaze was focused out now.
“I think this forest is so scary tho.” Jardel said.

“Not quite.” I said, Even though I was dying of fright already.

“Really?” He said and looked at me.

“Yap.” I said and turn my head to look at Jay.
He has a funny smile on his face, staring at me now.
“Is he still there or he’s vanished?” Jardel asked.
“He has vanished.” I lied.

Jay raised his eyebrows..

Jardel gasped, the chuckled.
“Stop playing Nana.. You could have said it yourself if the ghostboy is no more in this car.” He said and took a quick glance back.
Like he would even see Jay at all.

Im the only one who sees him.

So why’s he acting like he could?
I hissed.
“Why did you lie to him?” Jay asked..

“Cos I want to!” I said it before realizing.
Jardel looked at me.

“Cos you want to?” He asked.

“Im talking to Jay.” I said.
He chuckled.

“But you said he disappeared?”
I rolled my eyes as my thought splashed back.
Jay was laughing now..
“He’s back!” I said.
Jardel began laughing.

“Nana, now you are the one making me get scared.” He said.
I smiled.
We got to a little stream and Jardel pulled to a stop.
“We are taking the right path. Cos I met this stream too.” Jay said.

“He say we are taking the right path. cos he saw this stream.” I said to Jardel who just opened his door to go out.
I watched him go to the stream, put his hands on his wa-ist to stare at the stream.
Just then, Jay appeared, sitting on the driver’s seat and looking at me.
“What if I scare him a little?” Jay asked and glanced at Jardel who was still staring at the stream.
I frowned,

“Scare him with what?” I asked.
He didn’t answer.

All he did was t-rn on the car and zoomed off with a laughter.

“Jay!” I yelled.
Jardel shouted and began running forward..
Jay smiled and stopped the car and moved it back to meet Jardel.
“What the f-ck happened?” Jardel scre-med.

Jay smiled and vanished out of the driver’s seat back to the backseat.
I breathed a relief.
“Are you scared Nana?” Jay asked.

“You freaks!” I yelled at him.
Jardel got into the driver’s seat and looked at me.
“Why did you drive the car Nana?” Jardel asked.

“Im not the only one in this car. I didn’t drive the car.” I snapped.

“Who then did?” He asked.
I looked at Jay.
“Jay” I replied.

“Why?” Jardel asked.

I looked at Jay again, He had a pale face now.

“He was taking too long out there. You know how much I really need to find my body.” Jay said.
I looked back at Jardel.

His eyebrows are raised.

“You were taking too long out there. You know how much he really need to find his body.” I said.
Jardel looked away and began driving..
“Why did you go out?” I asked him.

“To just look at the stream.” He said.
We drove really further and when we got to a side filled up with fallen dry leaves, Jay yelled us to stop.
“Why?” I asked.

Jardel looked at me.

“Cos there’s swamp under those fallen dry leaves.” He said.
I gasped.
“Don’t move more! There’s swamp there.” I yelled at Jardel.

He pushed the brakes and stopped just immediately.
“How do we cross then?” I asked.

“What?” Jardel asked.

“Didn’t you hear me?” I frowned.

“Ask the ghost boy. They say Ghosts got extra-ordinary powers. Don’t he know?” Jardel asked.
I looked at Jay.
“I’ll think of something.” Jay said.

“He’s thinking of something.” I said.

“Why ain’t I seeing this ghostboy.” Jardel said.

“Stop calling hin that Jardel.” I said.
Jay closed his eyes and after awhile, opened them back and vanished out of the car.
I saw him standing outside, in front of the car, looking at the dry leaves.
“Haven’t he thought of something?” Jardel asked and turned to look at the backseat.
“He’s no more in the car.” I said.

He looked at me instantly.

“Where??” He asked.

“Outside. He wanna do something.” I said.

“Tell him to come in. I got something to suggest.” Jardel said.

“Tell him. He hears you.” I said and rested on the headrest.
Jardel watched me for awhile.

His looks was taking too much and I concentrated on the windscreen, watching Jay.

Then I think I saw Jardel’s face getting closer to mine.
Huh?

I looked at him and he paused.
“Nana.. I.. still love you.” He said.

“What are you tryna do?” I asked, looking at him with fury.

He shook his head.

“I want you back Nana. I realized that you are the best girl in the wh0le world.” He said.

“You had your chance, but you messed it up. Don’t come near me you assh-le.” I said and pushed him away.
“Im sorry Nana.” He said and started coming close again.
Bitch!
“JAY!!” I shouted.
Jardel flashed eyes at the windscreen.

Jay turned to look at me.

Then, the next thing, He vanished and appeared in the backseat and Jardel pulled himself back instantly.
“What kinda force was that? Something pulled me back.” Jardel said and rubbed his forehead?
I looked at Jay and he smiled.

I smiled back.

His handiwork.
“So Jay any idea?” I asked him.

He shook his head.
I sighed and looked at Jardel who was still rubbing his forehead.

“So are you gonna tell us your suggestion?” I asked Jardel.

“None.” He said.
I glared at him.
“We just gotta take another route.” Jay said.

“Route? I can’t see any route here apart from this one.” I said.
“Read and heard that when a ghost k-ss a human, the human turns out a ghost too.” Jardel said after awhile.
Finally he did! but his suggestion make no sense.
But there is something I noticed..

Jay’s face lightened up immediately.

Chapter 15

Nana’s POV [Continues]
I blinked.
“That’s not possible. It makes no sense.” I said sharply.
Jardel shrugged.

“Not like I want it to happen. It’s just a suggestion.” He said.
“We can try this.” Jay said with wide eyes.

I glared at him.

“No!” I snapped.
I can’t even imagine Jay k-ssing me.

A ghost!
“He can’t k-ss me tho, cos I can’t see him. He can k-ss only the person he sees.” Jardel said.
Awkward!

Jay chuckled..
“Stop joking here Jardel. I knew you were lying when you said that.” I said.
He laughed.

“Im not.” He said.

“Fine let’s all find another path.” Jay said.

“Let’s find another path.” I said.

……………………………………………
We got down and headed right..

The trees are so tall, thick and scathered.

Fallen dry leaves on the ground and water drops from the tree leaves.
Jay was in the front, I at the middle and Jardel at my back.
“Is he at my back?” Jardel asked.

“Yeap” I lied.
He looked behind him and I covered my mouth to chuckle.

Jay chuckled too.
“Stop pranking Nana.” Jardel said.
*

The birds were whistling and it was scary, I think.

Walking in such a thick forest with a ghost in front.

Somehow I was happy Jardel was with us.

I wonder how I’do be feeling now if Jardel wasn’t with us.
Just me and a ghost?

No way!
I checked if my phone was with me.

Yeah it was.
We walked for an hour plus as we searched for a road that would lead us to where Jay found himself, but it was proving too hærd to find.
“Maybe we should just go back to the first place.” Jardel said after another thirty minutes of walk.

“First place?” I asked.

“The swamp.” He replied.
Jay was busy searching around. While I and Jardel faced each other.
“We can’t go back there. There’s no way we can cross the swamp without sinking in,side.” I said.

“Don’t you think he lied to us about the swamp?” Jardel asked with an arched eyebrow..
I looked at Jay who was now staring at us.
“He heard you.” I said.

“And so damn what?” Jardel said, just then a phone began ringing.
Not mine.
Jardel searched his pockets and brought out his phone which was ringing..
He looked at me, then cut the Incoming call.
“Why don’t you pick your call?” I asked.

Not that I care tho or do I care?

“It’s no one important and besides, We got more important thing here which is looking for the ghost body like we’re cops.” He said.
I don’t know why but his words angered me.
I glared at him and made to walk pass him but he grabbed me and Jay vanished and appeared beside me instantly.
“Leave my wrist. You hurting me.” I said to Jardel.

“Im sorry Nana.” He said and let go of my hand.

“I heard his phone ringing.. Tell him not to switch it off.” Jay said.
I breathed.
“Don’t switch off your phone cos we might need it.” I said.

“It’s not switched off. Just ended the call.” He said.
I checked my wristwatch and it’s two minutes pass three o’clock.
“We gotta keep going.” I said like I was the leader.

I stayed at the front now but Jay appeared in my front and walked in front, I still at the middle and Jardel at my back.

*

*

We walked for too long but still we haven’t found what we were searching for..
I was gonna speak, when Jay spoke.
“Nana I can hear my name.. I can feel myself around. I don’t understand. I can feel myself around!!”
Fear gripped me and I paused my steps and that made Jardel bump into me from behind.
“Why did you stop Nana?” Jardel asked as he regained his stand.

“He says he feels himself around.” I said looking at Jay who now was looking wildly around.
“Im scared.” I whispered to Jardel and he quickly took my hand.

I didn’t care. I need this hold now.

“Don’t be. What’s he doing now?” He asked.

“Searching around.” I said.

“We gotta do it with him. Don’t be scared. He’s still the Jay.” Jardel said and pulled me along.
“Jay?” He called Jay.

Jay stopped and looked at us.

“What do you wanna tell him?” I asked.

“Is he looking at me now?” He asked.

“Yeah.”

“What do you feel?” Jardel asked him.

“I feel myself around.” Jay answered.

“He says he feels himself around.” I said.

“Then your body must be around.” Jardel said.

“Yes I think.” Jay said and went on searching.
Jardel looked at me.
“Be strong Nana, let’s help him now.” He said.

I swallowed.

Then inhaled and exhaled.
Then, we began searching for Jay’s body.
He kept saying that he’s feeling himself around and all we could do is search.
Search
Search..
But still we couldn’t find anything..Not even a trace.
We’ve searched for like two hours and we’ve gone far from the place he first said it..
Still we found nothing…
“I just think this ghost guy’s been lying to us.” Jardel whispered.
He said this back there when we were talking about the swamp, now he has said it again.
Is he really saying the truth? Is Jay really lying about this?

Is he a bad ghost tryna lead us to a deadly place to end us?
I stood and watched him. Jardel watched him too.

Jay was eagerly searching around and don’t seem like he’s framing this up.

Why am I even tryna believe Jardel. I believed him when he said he loves me but he threw me to the sands.
He broke my heart knowing I gave it all to him.
I glanced at him and moved away from him.
“Jay can’t be lying to us.” I said and went on to search.

Jay turned to me with a weak and sad face.
He must be very sad we haven’t found anything.
Jardel walked up beside me.

“Don’t believe him.” Jay said.
I raised eyebrows.
“Did you hear us talking?” I asked him.

“I could hear him cos he doesn’t see me. I could hear all he say within. But I can’t hear yours cos I see you.. I found out today.” He said.
I swallowed.
“Where is he now? Can’t see the leaves moving.” Jardel said.

“In our front.” I said.

“Jay, I wish I can see you. Have you been lying to us?” Jardel asked.
Jay’s face grew more pale.
“Stop this Jardel. He isn’t lying about this.” I said.

“Im not.” Jay said.

“He’s not.” I said.
Jardel shrugged..
“I still can feel myself around and it’s so strong now.. Too strong.” Jay said.

“Seems we are getting near.” I said with an assuring smile.

I guess his pale face and the the tears gathering in his golden eyes, gave me some strength to keep on with this search and I was gonna do everything to get to the root of this..

To find his body!

Even without Jardel!
“Let’s head. It’s getting late.” Jardel said.
I looked at him.

Why do he encourage me to keep on but then bring down my spirit after?
We were about going on with the search when,
A phone began ringing..

Not mine.

I looked at Jardel.
“Not my phone.” He said but we both still searched our phone to see and it wasn’t ours.
And it was a song ringtone from one of Lil Wayne’s songs.
“It’s mine!” Jay suddenly bursted out loud and began searching wildly for it before the call ends.
I gasped.

“It’s for Jay!” I shouted to Jardel and in a swift we all began searching wildly for it at the direction it was ringing from.
But it stopped.
“Shit!” Jay yelled.
I sighed. We couldn’t find it.
But something happened.

It began ringing again, almost immediately.

And we began searching again..
“Yes!!” Jardel said and we turned to him.

He had the phone in his hand and it was ringing out loudly now than it was then.

An iphone 7, golden in colour but had been dealth with by the w-t sands.
Jay rushed to it and grabbed it.
“Whoa!” Jardel said as he saw the phone vanish out of his hand and hanging in the air. (Jay’s hands)
“The battery is almost going off. It’s my sister calling. I can’t pick it.” Jay said.

“Pick it!” I scre-med at him.

“No!” He said.
I rushed to him to grab the phone but the call suddenly ended.
“The battery has drained. Its off now.” Jay said and left the phone to me.
I tried severally to put it on but it didn’t.
“It’s off and can’t on again.. His sister was calling. I guess they wanna use the phone to track him.” I said.

“They must be looking for him.” Jardel said.

“I hate cops!” Jay blurted.

“He hate cops.” I said.
“I must be around.” Jay said.

“The phone’s a prove that he’s around.” I said and with me still holding the phone, We went on searching.
“I can’t remember anything that happened to me and how I became what I am now.” Jay said as we searched.
