As I alighted from the commercial bus that conveyed me from school to our place, I raced as fast as I could, well if you were wondering why I was running that much, the reason for that was because I was already late and needed to drop my school bag and rush to the market as fast as possible.
I got home and was surprised to see that our little house wasn’t locked with any padlock and am sure that I did lock it when I was leaving in the morning, what could be possibly going on, could it be that my mum already came back from the market? But that was so unlike her and I could not even catch a glimpse of our wheelbarrow.
Hmmm, I slowly tiptoed to the door, peeped through the tiny opening, and was really surprised by what my eyes saw, a masked man was busy scattering and searching everywhere in our house.
I was left speechless, what could I possibly do, there was no way I could challenge him in a fight, he was old enough to be my dad.

Prospee my man,” a voice called from behind and I knew the owner already even without looking back, who else if not johnny, maybe he could be of help at a time like this cuz his second name was trouble.
I signaled for him to remain mute then held his wrist and drew him to a corner where whoever was in there could not hear us, after narrating everything to him, he hurriedly went to the place we packed our firewoods and collected two matching sticks, we’re going to wait by the door post till whoever is there comes out, “he said and handed one of the stick to me,
Let’s go,” he said but I hesitated fearfully, I was really scared cuz I have never engaged in something like that before.
He forcefully dragged me to the door post and made me stay by this side and him by the other side.
We waited patiently for whoever was in there to get out and it lasted like forever.
Then finally the door slowly opened,
Johnny raised his stick and was ready to pounce on whoever was coming out, he motioned for me to also do the same and I did but right in,side me, there was great trembling and quaking.
The masked man finally stepped out and Johnny was the first to hit him really hærd with the stick and I also did the same.
The sound alone was as if two iron were clamped together but the man did not even move any part of his body in the name of responding to the stimulus of what just hit him.
His appearance was like a spider man but his own overall was pure black.
I was greatly disturbed when I saw the suitcase, I mean my mum’s life savings in his hand, after picturing what would be my fate if he succeeded in going away with the suitcase, my heart was hærdened and ready for anything, we used the stick to whomp him unstoppably till our hands started to ache but he was still not moving any part of his body.
Huhuhu, “he laughed and his voice sounded like a monster,
It’s only a foolish child that tricks the elder with a toy snake, “he quoted an adage and the next thing I could recall was when he raised his hand and I fell backward, everything went blank immediately.

And the man out of shock slowly dropped the suitcase he was carrying.

“Are you out of your senses? How dare you take an action without my endorsement, this was the same thing your father did years ago that caused the death of my parents, “Nimue yelled more and more.
Please I’m very sorry my princess, I didn’t do it with any bad intention, I was just trying to help the man, he is my very good friend,
“To hell with that your friend, I’m talking that you’re putting our kingdom in threat and you’re saying friend, what is friend, So considering the fact that I made you the chief guard now makes you think you’re somebody right?, you left your duty post without having the thought of what if an enemy visits unannounced, in fact, I hereby disqualify you from chief guarding the owwen kingdom.
Right now, you’re going to reverse the spell and get out of here, “Nimue commanded,
“My princess please, you know I can’t restore, the only power I have is destruction,”
“So what you are trying to tell me is that you have killed them? Answer me!, “Nimue demanded and her sparkling blue eyes were suddenly turning red,
I’m very sorry my queen,” the masked man pleaded,
Just get out of here before I consume you to ashes, “she yelled and the man vanished immediately,
She knew she could revive the lifeless bodies on the ground but just wanted to yell very well at birsha so he could take correction,

I slowly opened my eyes and find myself on a bed in a room that was painted blue, I tried using my two arms to support myself and sit up but they ached so bad, that was when I realized there were drip attachments on both hands,
Oh my daughter you’re awake, ” I heard a familiar voice and knew it was my so-so-called mum. Can’t believe I’m back again in this boring land of mortality.
Where am I?, “I asked as if I had no idea of what really happened.
Don’t worry my daughter, trust me you are in a safe place,” she elucidated assuredly not knowing that I already knew everything.
I want to leave this place immediately,” I demanded firmly
No daughter, the doctor said that you won’t be discharged today, “she explained but I ignored everything she said and forcefully yanked off the drip attachments,
I would have felt the pain if I was in my normal self but then, my dark side was slowly taking charge.

I was really trying to control myself but all my efforts were just like water pouring on a Stone.
I was bashed passing almost everyone I came across in,side the hospital as I furiously searched for the exit.
As I got outside, I quickly located my supposed mum’s car, the door opened on its own after verifying my fingerprint jumped in immediately,
I’m sure so many people would tag my behavior as misconduct and ill nurtured but that wasn’t my concern, it was never a rumor that Belinda Clifford was a spoilt child that does whatever pleases her because she was the only surviving daughter of Mr. Clifford the famous business icon.
I have never been in concern about all they say cuz as far as I’m concerned, mortality is nothing but vanity, they have absolutely nothing to offer, that’s why I spent most of my time in my room having a good time with my soulmate, my mum, yes, she was the only one I recognized as my mum, even though that mortal in,side the hospital claimed to be one, well I’m still pretending to be cuz my real mother told me to, if not I would have let loose my wrath.
As I sat down on a seat, I offed the AC and waited anxiously for her to come and ride me home.
I have always been allergic to AC right from kindergarten, my supposed mum told me that I used to cry for it back then.
Not like I even asked her but that’s one of the methods she used whenever she’s with me hoping to cheer up but one thing she’s always oblivious of is the fact that the little bed can never make sweet sounds except she’s allowed to fly with her species.
I have always known that mortality is never my home, I only came for a purpose that’s only known to my invisible mum, that’s the only secret she’s persistently kept from me, whenever I asked her about it, she would tell me that the crows of responsible cocks are only heard at dawn.
My mortal mum finally gets in,side the car and before she could open her mouth to pour out her Mind, I told her that all I needed from her was to drive me home else I will end my life,
She kicked the engine and zoomed off almost before I was done speaking.
That’s one of the tricks I normally used whenever I needed something from her, cuz according to her, she fears my death more than hers and her husband’s, everyone knows I’m her go without and her shadow, The tag was not printed and hung on my neck but everyone knew it that Belinda Clifford needed to be treated with utmost care.

I was still wondering what was happening when something stung me, that was when I quickly got and discovered I have been sleeping on the bare floor in our compound, I madly scratched the victimized area and it was really unappealing, I was still busy scratching it when someone s¢ræmed behind me, what! Johnny, how did you get here?” I asked in surprise but he didn’t give me any answer, he too was furiously scratching a part and that was when I realized that the same that stung me stung him too,
What do we do? “I asked as I scratched uncontrollably, the skin on the wounded part was even starting to peel but I didn’t care, the tension was so mind-blowing, it wasn’t what one could control with perseverance at all.
“I know of a popular leave that cures all kinds of stings, so all we need now is to hurry in,side the bush and get it, “Johnny suggested and I agreed,
We hurried in,side the bush and it wasn’t long before he found the plant and yanked some leaves from it,
He said that it needed to be fumbled to press out the juice, but the problem we had was that no one could stop scratching to fumble the leaves,
Well in the end we agreed that Johnny would be fumbling while I use one of my hands to scratch his own and use the other to scratch mine.
We continued that way till johnny finally finished fumbling, he put fumbled leaves on my own s₱0t and pressed it so that some of the juice entered it, argh, “I s¢ræmed in pain.
The pain was so deep that I felt goose pimples all over me,
I firmly closed my eyes and clenched my teeth so tight as the throbbing sound of my heart could almost be heard Miles away, the reaction lasted for minutes and finally stopped, there was great calmness in,side me, I looked at my friend and discovered he was just lying on the bare bush, johnny get up let’s go, “I said and tapped him repeatedly,
Leave me, lemme rest small,” he said and I realized he was really tired, but resting in the bush would only worsen the matter.
So I decided to prank him.
johnny, snake, “I s¢ræmed and he leaped like an antelope, in Just a single blink, he was already in our compound panting like a dog that ran after the owner’s vehicle to the market,
The incident could be tagged funny and make one laugh but I wasn’t even close to smiling, my body was so light as if everything was drained out,
I ghost walked out of the bush and found johnny with the suitcase, my mum’s life savings, what’s this,’ he asked and tried to open it,
Well, it was as if all my strength was restored at that instinct, I didn’t even know how but the next thing I saw was me holding the suitcase and Johnny staring at me in disbelief,
Why would you yank it so hasty from me, what if I sustained an injury in the process, “he asked and I could see a display of sadness all over his face,
I hastily moved in,side our house with the suitcase,
As I got in, I opened it to check if the content was still intact and thank goodness there was no negative result,
I lowered and slipped it under our mat and came out immediately,
I’m very sorry but you won’t understand, “I apologized but he just stared at me and shook his head sadly then made to leave.
I would have called him back but I had something else in my mind,
I needed to rush to the market as fast as possible to know the way about of my mum,
I’m very sorry Johnny, please try and understand, “I echoed to his hearing but he didn’t even react as if he heard anything.
I rushed in,side our house and took a sharp glare at the wall clock, what? 4:pm and I’m still here, how did this happen, I have failed my mum,” having these thoughts in my mind, there was no time for changing my school uniform again so I just raced out and slammed the door, the only remained was to get the padlock and lock the door but I didn’t catch any glimpse of it, that was when I started to reminisce on everything that happened earlier that day.
But how come the masked man left without the suitcase, I’m sure he had it in his hand then, “these thoughts made me a little uneasy,
I was still standing on the same s₱0t when I heard a unique sound that our wheelbarrow produced anytime it was being pushed,
Wait! my mum? How come she got back so early?
