{ The Invite }

~ CALVIN HOUSE ~

Beth was busy trimming the roses when a maid approached her.

“Beth, the boss is calling for you” the maid said.

“But I told Nanny Melody that I will be doing chores that require me to work from outside ” she said.

“You did but it’s just that boss Calvin made it clear to us that if you don’t come to see him then he’s going to fire us. Please Beth, kindly do us this favour and go to him” the maid pleaded.

Slowly Beth put down her tools and went into the house.

Ever since she realized her feelings, she has decided to stay away.

And that’s because she knew that no matter how much she’s in love with Calvin, he will never look her way and that’s all due to his mystery girl, the girl he truly loves and the reason why she’s here today.

So she decided to try to curb her feelings and the only way she can achieve that is by staying away from Calvin and that’s why she took on the outdoor task but still here she is on her way to Calvin room.

She took In a deep breath and knocked on his door before going in.

He was seated on his bed still dressed in his pyjamas and he looked so hot.

” You called for me” she said trying to hide her nervousness at seeing him.

“I heard you didn’t go to school today, why?” He asked.

She had actually stayed at home cause she still felt guilty at him getting injured all because of her.

“Well, I had things to do”

“Things like what?” He asked.

“Things that I don’t have to tell you. Did you threaten the other maids just to ask me this?” Beth asked and he looked away flushing a bit.

“I feel bored and since you didn’t go to school, I thought we could do a thing or two” he replied which got her smiling.

“I might be attending the same school as you and I might be helping you but that doesn’t mean that am free to do what I want, am still a maid in your house and before you called, I was busy in the garden, so I suggest you find another play mate” she said turning to leave.

“But you…..” He stopped groaning when he felt hurt and immediately Beth ran back to him.

“Are you okay?” She asked getting onto the bed while holding onto him.

Calvin let out a slow smile and pulled her to seat on the bed beside him, chaining her to him by holding onto her hand.

“Was that a prank?” Beth half yelled.

“It is and it worked cause I have you where I want you” he stated giving her his most sexiest smile which pulled at Beth heart strings and made her have those tingling sensation.

“Calvin, I need to work and….”

“Keep me company” he muttered which got her starring at him.

“I feel bored and I don’t want to be alone, so keep me company” he added.

“But you could call Raymond over or busy yourself with a movie or some thing” she suggested.

“Raymond is off for a business trip and I hate watching movies, those things aren’t my style but I do know things that are my style and it requires two people to make it work” Calvin said.

“What are these things exactly?” She asked wondering what he had in mind.

Willow who was seated by the window side in their private lounge let out another sigh for the tenth time that day.

“What’s up with you? You’ve been sighing all the time?” Josephine asked even as she went to where he is seated.

“My parents are up to it again” Willow replied.

“What did they do now? Are they gonna ground you or probably send you off to Alaska for disobeying them or some thing?”

“They are planning on getting me engaged” Willow replied still starring out of the window and he failed to notice the sad expression on Josephine face.

“Oh! What do you plan to do? Will you let them?”

“You know how they are, they do things Without asking for my opinion and this engagement stuff will certainly go the same way” Willow stated.

“Don’t you have any thing plan?” Josephine asked.

“Anything planned like what?” Willow asked in return.

“By making them believe you’ve got a girlfriend or some other plan” Josephine suggested and immediately a smile brighten his face.

“You are right! My parents think me to be single but if I take a girl home claiming her to be my girlfriend then certainly that will stop whatever engagement they are planning” Willow said in excitement.

“But the problem now is finding a girl?” Willow said again while Josephine hope within her heart that he will notice her.

Truth be told, she has always felt some thing for willow and although she’s kept her feelings hidden, she’s been nuturing the hope that Willow will notice her some day.

“Where are you going?” Josephine asked.

“To find a girl who will be willing to pretend to be my girlfriend” he answered making Josephine sad.

“Is that really necessary? I mean why go far when you’ve got some one close to you” she told him.

“Someone close? Are you perhaps talking about Tracy and Marcella, those two can’t do. I already dumped them, I will just have to find some one else, see you later, got to go and haunt” Willow said leaving the lounge.

“Jerk! Why won’t you ever notice me?” She murmured sadly staying only in the room.

LUNCH~ PRACTICE ROOM

“Wow, they’ve got an amazing dancing room” Lily murmured walking the the spacious room.

“That’s why Wilmer high is one of the best” she said moving towards the speakers.

She mistakenly pressed a button which got a music playing from the speakers.

Lily who loves dancing felt tempted and giving in to the temptation, she looked around and when she was sure no one was around.

She began dancing to the rhythm of Ariana Grande – one last time.

Lily was so into the song that she didn’t notice some one standing by the door way watching one.

She finished her dance when the song ended and was startled when she heard some one clapping.

“That was beautiful” Willow who had been the unwanted guest said walking towards her.

Lily remembered him to be a part of Katrina friends and immediately she turned off the song and went to get her bag.

She was about leaving when Willow stood in her path.

“Don’t go, I want to see more of your dance” Willow said.

“Get out of my way” Lily said and when he did move out of her way, she left the dancing room in a rush leaving Willow starring after her.

“Guess have found my fake girl friend” Willow murmured even as he let out a slow grin.

Lily was rushing off to class when she collided into someone.

“Are you okay?” Eric asked.

“Yes. Thanks” Lily replied moving out of his hold, she was about leaving when Eric took hold of her hand.

“Am sorry to ask you this but why didn’t Beth come today?” Eric asked.

“Well she stayed back at the mansion to take care of Calvin” Lily replied.

“Calvin ” Eric said wistfully.

“Beth works in his house as a maid and she feels guilty about what happened to him yesterday, so she stayed home with him” Lily explained further making Eric feel uneasy.

Calvin being close to Beth makes him feel uneasy and though Calvin have made it clear to him that he isn’t interested in Beth, he still can’t help but to feel uneasy.

“I…..”

“There you both are!” Katrina smooth voice cut into whatever Eric was gonna say.

“What do you want?” Eric asked feeling irritated by her interruption.

“Well am having a party this weekend and am inviting everyone” Katrina said giving Eric and Lily an invitation card.

“Why give me when you know I won’t go” Eric asked.

“You will cause it’s gonna be a bomb and also you shouldn’t dwell on what I said yesterday, I was just angry but am good now” Katrina said to Eric before turning to Lily.

“Give this two invite to Calvin and Beth, I would have love to give them myself but they are both absent today” She said and Lily took the invite from her .

“Make sure you all come, I will be waiting” Katrina added with a smile before walking off leaving them starring after her.

“She’s only trying to stir up trouble, I suggest you don’t give it to Beth and Calvin” Eric told Lily who nodded in return.

~ CALVIN’S HOME ~

“I won!” Beth let out a triumphant yell when she won the chess they were both playing.

“Yeah you win after seven beatings from me” Calvin mocked.

” That’s because I rarely play the game, give me some credit due” Beth said stretching a little.

“It must be tiring being stuck here with me” Calvin told her.

“Its not tiring at all and I enjoyed every moment” she replied missing the smile that lighten Calvin features.

She got out of the bed and began to explore his room, taking some photo album to look at.

All were pictures of him or Raymond or with Nanny Melody and that got her wondering if he had no family.

“Didn’t you take pictures with your family?” Beth asked before she could stop her self.

“Am sorry I ask that, you don’t have to give me a reply” She added on seeing the sad expression on his face.

“It’s okay. My family as you put it consists of four girls and me. Our parents died when I was at a young age and I hardly have any pictures of them except for my memories and my sisters….my sisters are too busy with their life to think of me ” Calvin replied still having that sad look on his face.

“You must have been lonely” she muttered again before she could control herself.

“I was indeed lonely and through that loneliness, I got to create my own company which led me to where I am today” Calvin said and that got Beth chuckling.

Moving towards him she gently put her hand on his hair, stroking it softly.

“You did well Calvin, you grew up to become some one admirable” she said and that got him starring up at her.

He had always wanted to hear those words from some one, he always wanted to know that he did well by growing up to become a fine a young man and hearing it from Beth made him feel touched.

Taking hold of her hand, he held onto it tightly and smiling up at her, he said.

“Thanks, have always wanted to hear that”

Beth who was suddenly feeling excited just by him touching her hand quickly pulled away going back to the pictures she was starring at.

“You graduated with honours, what exactly did you study?” She asked changing the subject.

“Maths, though am currently not using it” he replied.

“Wow, so apart from being a posh CEO, you are also a mathematician. Life is indeed unfair, while it bestow to some brains and intelligence it gives some nothing ” Beth muttered.

“And you fall in the category of nothing?” Calvin asked while she gave him a nervous smile.

“My IQ isn’t that perfect” She replied slowly.

“You don’t excel in other subjects?”

“I do but maths is my most difficult subject” she replied.

“Since you have a mathematician like me, you can get tutored by me ” he offered suddenly and that got her brightening up.

“You mean that?” She asked.

“I do, after school each day. I tutor you for an hour and half, how does that sound to you? ” he asked.

“Great! ” She answered quickly.

At that moment there was a knock on the Nanny Melody walked in interrupting them.

Lily stood by the kitchen counter starring at the party invite Katrina had given her.

She had arrived home an hour ago and had been pondering on whether to give it to Beth and Calvin.

She was still starring when Beth came in and she didn’t notice Beth until Beth got close to her.

“Is that a party invite?” Beth asked which got Lily hiding it behind her.

“It’s nothing” Lily replied quickly but Beth already noticed what she was hiding.

“Aren’t those party invites and judging by the tacky colour, it must be Katrina’s” Beth said.

“Yes, she told me to give it to you and Calvin and that you both should be present during the party but I have a feeling that she’s up to some thing, so don’t go” Lily told her.

“You are right, she must be plotting some thing to have invite me. In the past she always do her best in making fun of me during some of her parties and am sure she might be trying one of those things, so you can be rest assured that I won’t go ” Beth replied.

“Why would you not go when you’ve been invited?” Calvin asked suddenly from the door way.

“Katrina is just up to one of her tricks” Beth replied as he got to them taking the invite from Lily hand.

“If she’s up to her tricks then you could be more trickier” Calvin said.

“And what do you mean by being more trickier?” Lily asked this time.

” I have a plan and it will only work out if you come to the party and you will certainly be going ” Calvin replied.
