{ Broken Heart }

~ CALVIN’S HOME ~

Calvin, Lily and Beth sat in Calvin car watching the video of Katrina performing her craziness.

They got to a place where Jason was trying to catch her only to slip on the floor.

The three of them burst out laughing and it wasn’t until the video ended that they got out of the car.

“See you guys tomorrow and thanks for the dress” Lily said to Calvin who nodded in return before heading to the maid quarters leaving Beth and Calvin alone.

“So how was the evening for you?” Calvin asked.

“Great and it’s all thanks to you” Beth replied starring at him with so much love but Calvin didn’t notice because his attention was some where else.

“There’s a movie showing tomorrow, would you go watch it with me?” She asked and that got him starring at her.

“Don’t refuse! It’s my way of saying thank you” Beth added and that rid whatever refusal he had in mind.

“Okay then, Since I won’t be doing a thing tomorrow, I don’t mind going” he said which brighten up her face.

“So I will text you about the details, good night” she said waving at him before heading to the maid quarters while Calvin kept watching her go.

They both didn’t notice Beth mom who stood hidden by the wall watching them both.

~ NEXT DAY ~

Raymond stopped his car in front of Calvin mansion and while the security guard came to take the keys to go park his car properly.

He noticed Beth standing some distance away, he was about waving to her when he noticed that she wasn’t even starring at him.

He followed her gaze and quirked a brow when he saw who she was starring at.

Calvin was seated out side at the lounge reading a magazine while he had his head set on.

He wouldn’t have heard him arrive and neither would he have noticed Beth starring at him.

What’s going on? Is some thing going on between them, Raymond thought even as he went into the house.

“When did you arrive?” Calvin asked as soon as Raymond came to join him in his lounge.

“A while ago and you wouldn’t have heard cause you had that on” Raymond replied referring to the head set Calvin had on his head.

“Just listening to some music, what brings you here?” Calvin asked.

“Well I came to give you this file, it needs your signature before any thing else can be done” Raymond replied giving him the file.

“You could have just send it, you didn’t have to come”

“I know, I didn’t have to come but I needed the outing and besides, you guys aren’t filling me in on the search. Have you been too busy dating or what?” Raymond asked which got Calvin starring at him.

“What do you mean by that?” Calvin asked.

“I saw Beth a while ago, she was starring at you with so much love in her eyes that I….”

“Now where on earth did you get that silly idea” Calvin said abruptly.

“It’s not a silly idea. Beth was watching you with so much love in her eyes that it got me wondering if you two were an item” Raymond replied.

“If we both were an item,I wouldn’t keep up with my search. So I suggest you stop thinking those crazy stuffs and focus on what’s more important, if some one heard you they might think Beth really feels some thing for me” Calvin said going through the file.

“But she does feel some thing for you. I saw her watching you a while ago and I have no doubt that Beth is in love with you”

“You really should…..”

“I suggest you confirm it yourself. The earlier you let her know that she’s got no chance with you the better for her” Raymond replied cutting him off this time.

~ LATER IN THE DAY ~

Calvin was in his study lost in his thoughts.

Thoughts which had to do with Beth, could she really be in love with him cause no matter how he thinks of it, he just didn’t see that happening.

They’ve gotten close and that’s all due to the circumstances, it couldn’t have made her falling for him.

The knock on the door disrupt his thoughts and before he could ask who it is, the door opened to reveal Beth’s mom.

“Am sorry to interrupt you but I would like to talk to you” she said slowly even as he ushered her in.

~ KITCHEN ~

“What are you doing?” Lily asked as she came to join the excited Beth in the kitchen.

“Just preparing a picnic lunch” Beth replied.

” I smell some thing fishy? Who does the picnic lunch belong to?” Lily asked nudging her gently

“It’s not what you think. I just want to say thank you to some one”

“And is this some one Calvin?” Lily asked with a smile on her face.

“Stop teasing me and…..” The door burst open to reveal a maid which ended whatever conversation they were having.

“Just wanted to remind you about the cleaning of the gym, you haven’t forget right?” The maid asked Beth who had obviously forgotten.

” I will get to it” Beth said even as she made her way to the gym with her cleaning equipment.

” If I finish this on time then there will be enough time for the movie and picnic outing with Calvin” Beth murmured even as she felt her heart racing.

The thought of spending the rest of the day with Calvin have been making her excited and happy.

Half an hour later, Beth finished with the cleaning and was leaving the gym when Calvin walk in all dressed up in his work out outfit.

“Oh! I was about coming to you” Beth said even as she followed him back into the gym.

“I heard that the movie we will be watching today will be packed with a lot of people, so if we want to get the best seat then we ought to be there early ” she said watching him.

“And also I prepared a picnic lunch for us, I figured out that we might be hungry after the movie” she added when he said nothing.

“You don’t mind the picnic right?” She asked again when he said nothing.

“Is some thing wrong?” She asked realising some thing was up with him.

Calvin who had been bringing out his working out equipment let go of it to stare at her.

“What do you think is wrong?” He asked coldly.

“You weren’t replying and so I…..”

“Must I always give a reply? Don’t you know when to stop? Can’t you read the message?” He asked cutting her off abruptly.

“What message?” Beth asked now feeling the tense atmosphere between them.

“That you are getting on my nerves! You might be staying here in my home and you might be helping me in finding some one but that doesn’t give you the right to get close to me” he said shattering Beth’s heart.

“I didn’t know that you felt that way” she replied with a sad smile on her face.

“Now you know and so it’s best you stop cause I hate people who tend to get act like we are close when we aren’t!” He added hurting her deeply.

“I will keep that in mind” she replied and turned to leave only to turn to him again.

“If you felt that I was becoming annoying then why did you help me yesterday? ” She asked.

“It’s cause I felt pity for you. I overheard your conversation with Lily earlier that day and I thought that I should help since your situation seemed pitiful. Does that give you an answer?” He asked while she nodded slowly.

“Thanks for letting me know what you think. I won’t bother you again” she said turning to leave with out giving him a glance.

Calvin who stood watching her go felt like a jerk for the things he said but it’s for the best, for her sake.

~ NEXT DAY ~

Calvin was all prepared for school and was descending the stairs when he saw Beth mother waiting for him at the foot of the stairs.

“Do you still have some thing to ask of me?” Calvin asked.

“I don’t, I came to thank you. It must have been hard saying those things to her” She said.

“Were you listening to it?” Calvin asked and she nodded.

“Am sorry but I wanted to be sure that you will go ahead with it. We both know that she’s in love with you but you don’t feel the same and the only way we can get rid of that feeling is by you being cruel to her” she said slowly and with her one good arm, she took hold of his hand.

“I know that what I asked of you is some thing cruel but it’s the only way I can make my daughter come back to her senses. You must also agree with me on that right ?” She asked.

Calvin didn’t agree with her but he has no choice since this will end the feeling Beth feels for him and will also put her mother mind at ease.

“I do” was the only thing Calvin could say in return.

A while later he got outside only to see the chauffeur he got for Beth waiting for him.

“Have you taken Beth to school?” Calvin asked.

“I tried to but she refused saying she would like to take the bus to school” The chauffeur replied.

“What about Lily?”

“She accompanied Miss Beth” the chauffeur replied.

Knowing that Lily is with her got her feeling a bit relieved but it didn’t rid him of the guilt he felt at hurting her.

~ WILMER HIGH ~ LIBRARY

“You’ve been stuck in the library all day, don’t you want to walk around a little?” Lily asked starring at the down cast Beth.

“Exams are coming up, I will just keep on reading” Beth replied.

“Even during lunch hour?” Lily asked and that got Beth checking the time.

“I didn’t notice it to be lunch time?” Beth confessed.

“That’s because you’ve been thinking of some thing which keeps bothering you. What happen? ” Lily asked.

Beth thought about confiding in Lily but changed her mind.

“Let’s go eat lunch” she said instead and left the library while Lily followed her.

They were almost at the cafeteria when Beth looked up to see Calvin walking towards the cafeteria from the opposite side.

Ever since the incident yesterday, she hasn’t seen him and that’s because she’s been avoiding him.

He is the main reason why she stayed in the library instead of going to class.

Calvin who had also noticed her stood in his tracks watching her just like she did to him.

“That’s Calvin! Should I ask him to join us?” Lily asked wanting to wave at him but Beth pulled her hand down.

“You don’t have to do that. I…..am not that hungry, I need to use the rest room” Beth said turning to leave while the confused Lily ran after her.

Calvin let out a sigh before also turning away from the cafeteria, heading to no where In particular.

~ ROOF TOP ~

After asking Lily to let her be for a while, Beth made her way to the school roof top where she knew no one would be and where she could cry her heart out.

Not wanting her mom to notice some thing was wrong, she held in her tears but on seeing Calvin at the cafeteria.

It got her remembering every thing he said to her which hurts a lot.

Sitting on a pillar which was made to look like a bench, Beth began to cry.

It came out slowly at first but it grew into a wail which she couldn’t stop no matter how hard she tried.

Eric who had been enjoying the view while also thinking of an excuse to give Beth when he finally give her the phone he bought heard some one crying.

At first he didn’t want to see who it was but when her cry grew louder, he left the spot he was staying and followed the voice.

He was surprised when he saw it was Beth and quickly went to her.

Beth who was crying open her eyes to see some one standing in front of her.

For a moment she had thought it was Calvin but seeing Eric got her feeling disappointed.

“Are you okay?” Eric asked even as he crouched in front of her.

“Go away, please” she murmured feeling embarrassed at being caught.

“But you are not alright” he said taking hold of her hand but she pulled away and stood up to leave.

She only took three steps away from him when he caught her by the arm and pulling her towards him, he hugged her.

She was shocked at first and tried to pull away but Eric tightened his hold on her.

“You can borrow my arms for a while, so let it all out” he murmured and that tug at her saddened heart.

Which got her crying her heart out while seeking for comfort in his arms.

They were standing by the edge and could be seen by a lot of people but the two people who noticed them at that moment was Dexter and Calvin.

Dexter had a smile on his face watching the two of them while Calvin couldn’t hide the anger that was emanating from him at that moment………
