⏰ CHAPTER 15 ⏰

🌻 James POV 🌻

I got into my car but I couldn’t drive for a while
My head hurts and it feels like the whole world was spinning around me

Someone knocked on my car window and I looked up to see Michael
I sighed and rolled down the car window

“I thought you’ll have left by now, it’s good I met you here” he said and I looked up at him

“What do you want Michael?”

“Julia helped me in everything I did against you, how does it feel to be betrayed and let down by the one you trust?”

“You feel bad right? You feel alone? Like the whole world has left you? That was exactly what I felt when you left me for death. I promised you didn’t I? I promised to make you feel exactly what I felt that day and now my promise have being kept”

“Michael….”

“Do not look at me with those teary eyes for I feel no pity for you” he said “You deserve everything you’ve got and more, if you heard the nerve to ignore your little brother when he was dying then…..”

“I never ignored you!!!” I yelled “I never left you alone! Neither did I leave you for death! But you know nothing do you? You know absolutely nothing and you never will. I was being honest when I told you if I got the company I’ll hand it over to you but your stupid ego won’t let you believe me, now you’ve dug your own grave. You think Dad will hand over the company to you cause of this stunt you pulled? Well keep on dreaming” I rolled up the car window and drove out of the company in high speed

🌻 Micheal’s POV 🌻

I stood for a minute not knowing what to do or say
I can’t feel guilty
I must not
He deserves everything he’s got

I walked into the company and bumped into Dad coming out with the shareholders

“Dad…..”

“We are at work Michael” he said

“Sorry Sir, I….”

“We’ll talk later, as you can see am on my way to a press conference, all our investors are coming back so am very busy” he said and walked out with the shareholders

I sighed as I watched them
Did I make the wrong decision?

🌻 James POV 🌻

I opened the door to my place and everyone looked at me as I walked in

“James…” Rachel called sadly as she walked towards me

“Where’s Sarah?” I asked

“She went home to check on her Dad, I think Michael threatened her Dad into saying all those things in front of the media” Stefan said and I sighed frustrated

“Are you okay James?” Rachel asked as she came close to me and placed her hand on my cheek

I caught her hand and slowly dropped it

“I want to be alone” I said as I walked into my room and laid on my bed

🌻 Julia’s POV 🌻

I walked around the company and I finally sighted Michael

“Was all this really necessary?” I asked

“What do you mean?”

“Did you have to bring me along with you here?”

“Why? Are you hurt seeing your dear lover boy hurt?” He asked

“Michael, he….”

“He was hurt and I was happy to see him hurt cause he deserved everything he got, he…..”

“He was broken!!” I yelled “You broke him, I could see the pain in his eyes and I could hear it from his voice, how could you do this to your own brother and how dare you bring me into your stupid feud! Now…. Now he hates me, he doesn’t even want to look at me, he….he thinks I’ve hurt him”

“Are those… Are those tears? Are you really crying?” He laughed “I guess you really love him, too bad I don’t care about either of you and you’ll continue to play along with me else…. I don’t need to remind you what will happen if you go against me, do I?” He said and I remained silent

“Good” he said and walked away while I broke into tears

🌻 Rachel’s POV 🌻

“Do you think his okay?” I asked Stefan as I stared at James room

“Of course he’s not, he’s probably heartbroken, he’s planned this for a long time and now everything failed” Stefan said

“Then I should probably be with him now right? I be comforting him now” I said as I stood up but Stefan held me back

“No Rachel, he needs some time alone, he’ll sort this out himself, am sure he’ll be fine in the end”

“But….”

“James will be fine Rachel” Stefan repeated and I sighed and sat down

“This is all because of Michael, how could he he do such a thing to his own brother?”

“Probably because he’s still bittered about what happened 15 years ago” Stefan said and I stood up took my bag

“Where are you going?” He asked

“To talk some sense into Michael, I can’t endure his stupidity any longer, take care of James while am gone” I said and walked out

🌻 Micheal’s POV 🌻

I waited for Dad at the office but he never came back so I drove home

Immediately I walked into the house, Nanny ran up to me

“Is it true? I heard young master came to the company today, is it true Michael?” She asked

“Oh, has the news travel so fast already?” I asked as I sat on the couch

“How is he? Is he alright? Is he finally coming back him?”

“Oh will you just stop Nanny, I came home to rest, must you disturb me about James too”

“I just want to know how he’s doing” she said

“And have you ever showed that much concern for me Nanny? It’s always James all the time, like the whole world is revolving around him and I do not exist”

“Michael…..”

“Just let me be Nanny” I said ending the discussion

“Nanny might let you be but am just getting started with you” someone said I turned back to see Rachel

“Rachel…..”

“Yes, it’s me Michael, are you surprised to see me?” She asked

“If you are here to talk about James then don’t, I’ve heard enough of him today to last me a lifetime”

“No you haven’t Michael, considering what you did, no you haven’t” she said

“Rachel I….”

“There is no explanation that can ever justify what you did! James is your brother for God’s sake, how could you do this to him?!!”

“He started it!! He abandoned me and left me for death 15 years ago, weren’t I his brother then?! If not for you I’ll have died back then, I’ll be eternally grateful to you but it’s a different case with James, am going to spend the rest of my life repaying him for what he did to me that night!!”

“Did you really think it was a coincidence that I came that night that you had an asthma attack? Are you really that shallow minded?!”

“What do you mean?” I asked

“I mean James called me to come here that night!!” She yelled

“What?!!”

“I was at home that night and he called me, he told me that you are currently having an asthma attack and he’s in the hospital with Andrea so he asked me to come help you, Andrea was dying in front of him yet he still made time to call me to come help you, that’s how much your brother loves you Michael but you do not deserve that love do you? You do not deserve a brother like James, you are a failure Michael, never show your face in front of me again” she said and walked out while I just slumped on the couch, confused

⏰ CHAPTER 16 ⏰

🌻 James POV 🌻

“Andrea please, please don’t leave me” I cried as I held Andrea in the middle of the road in a pool of her own blood

I looked up to see my Dad smiling at me

“What did you say? You’ll take my company away from me? What a joke” he scoffed and walked away

“James….” Andrea called weakly and I looked down at her
Her eyes are closing

“Andrea no, please stay with me, don’t go Andrea, No!!!” I yelled jerking up from my sleep

“Gosh, I dreamt of it again” I muttered as held my throbbing head

I looked at my bedside clock and it’s morning already
I had no idea when I dozed off yesterday

I looked at the window and it was snowing outside
My phone ranged and I checked at the caller’s name
Julia

I stared at the phone and then dropped it and went back to bed

My phone continued ringing but I never picked it up
There was a knock on the door and I wondered who it was
Probably Rachel, Stefan or Sarah

“No, it’s probably Stefan or Sarah, Rachel has her own key so she never knocks when coming in” I muttered as I dragged myself up to go open the door

“Julia!!” I said astounded

“Good…. good morning” she stuttered but I just continued staring at her

“You…. You haven’t been picking you so I…. I came to check up on you” she said and I sighed

“I haven’t being picking up your calls because there’s nothing to talk about between us, I’d appreciate it if you leave now, unless you are here as Michael’s spy again” I said

“James, you are misunderstanding everything”

“No, I understand everything pretty well now and I know that… that this world is a very dangerous world to be, it’s every man for himself in this world, the moment you trust someone too much you fail, the moment you depend on someone you become broken, the moment you…..you try to love you get your heart broken, the only person that was different was my Andrea, she was different and better than you all but what did the world do to her? They took her away from me, they snatched her from my life, leaving me alone and broken for 15 years. I finally got a chance to get my revenge against the one that took her from this world but you took that chance away from me, you snatched my chance to get justice for her death!!!” I yelled as tears welled up in my eyes and she flinched

“James am….”

“Get out” I said and jammed the door loudly

I sighed as I slumped on the couch
My phone rang again and it was Linda, Julia’s friend and I ignored it

“What a wonderful way to start my Christmas day”

🌻 Michael’s POV 🌻

I heard some sounds and I slowly opened my eyes to see Nanny cleaning the room

“Good morning Michael, Merry Christmas” Nanny said

“There’s nothing Merry about this Christmas” I said as covered myself up with a blanket again

It’s so freezing cold, it’s probably snowing outside
Then I remembered Dad and I quickly sat up

“Nanny is Dad home?” I asked

“No, he came back really late last night and went out very early this morning” she replied and I sighed

“May I ask what’s wrong Michael?” Nanny asked

“Nothing” I replied and laid back down

“Michael” Nanny called again and I looked up

“What’s it now Nanny”

“The other lady that came few days ago, the young master’s friend, Rachel, I heard what she told you, she……”

“Stop it Nanny, I don’t want to talk about this” I said

“But why? The only reason you hate young master is because you think he abandoned you that night but if what she said is right, then you have no reason to hate your brother and you guys can finally make up and am sure you want to make with your brother don’t you Michael?”

“No I do not, I have no brother, I don’t care about him and I have never cared about him” I said

“You have never cared about him?” She scoffed “I can still remember when you guys were young, James was your one and only best friend and brother, you won’t do anything without him, you guys always did everything together, you won’t eat till he’s back home from school so you guys can eat together and he always protected you when your Mom or Dad was angry with you and whenever your Dad yelled at James, you would always carry sweets to his room to try and cheer him up, I also remember when…..”

“Stop Nanny, just stop!! Stop please!” I cried

She dropped her vacuum cleaner and sat on the bed beside me

“Michael” she called softly “What is the problem?”

“Am….. Am scared” I stuttered

“Why? Why are you scared?”

“Am scared that what Rachel said might be true”

“Shouldn’t you be happy instead? If it’s true, you’ll get your brother back” Nanny said and I shook my head

“I’ve…. I’ve done bad things to James Nanny, horrible things all because of what happened that night, now if everything turned out not to be true, how do I face him Nanny? How do I face someone I’ve caused so much pain? If what Rachael said is true, then I turn from the victim to the villian, I become the villian that I’ve always dreaded, that’s why am afraid of finding out if it’s true Nanny, cause I’ll totally be broken if I find out that I’ve being hurting my brother all this years due to a misunderstanding, and Nanny, I’ve hurt him so much” I cried and Nanny hugged me

“You and I know James is different, my young master is different, he will forgive you Michael, all you just need to do is go to him and seek for forgiveness, you’ll be failing him if you don’t even try to get his forgiveness at all” Nanny said as she patted my back

🌻 Julia’s POV 🌻

I stood still in the street not knowing what to do or where to go, my phone rang numerous but I didn’t pick up
It’s my Mom and Dad or Linda

The probably looking for me, I didn’t go home from school last night, I went to James place yesterday but I bumped into Rachel at the door

*****Flashback*******

I got down from the cab in my school uniform and walked towards James place

“Julia?” Someone called and I turned back to see Rachel

“What the hell are you doing here?” She asked sharply

“I….I came to see James”

“Why? Did Michael send you here again?”

“No, I came to apologise to James”

“Apologise?” She scoffed “James doesn’t want to see your face again or don’t you get it? Haven’t you caused James enough pains already? If you have any shred of humanity left in you Julia, you will let James be and never see him again”

“But I….”

“Leave!!!” She yelled

*****End of Flashback******

I had being too heartbroken to go back home yesterday so I just wandered around and slept in an empty cabin near the hillside

That would probably also be the case today, I feel too guilty to go sleep at the comfort of my home
I deserve this, I totally deserve this

My phone rang again and it was Dad this time and I sighed
I can’t even face Dad right now, he got beaten up thanks to me and he’s still healing from his injuries
I’ve brought alot of people pain

“Merry Christmas to me” I muttered as I wandered around in the snow shivering

🌻 James POV 🌻

“Merry Christmas!!!” Stefan and Rachel screamed joyfully and I just stared at them, unmoved

“Come on James, join us and have a toast” Rachel said and I shook my head

“I’ll pass” I muttered and she made a dissapointed face

“Let him be Rachel, he’s still in his downcast mood” Stefan said

“But it’s being day’s already, you’ve got to start cheering up James” Rachel said

There was suddenly a knock on the door and Stefan stood up to go get it
Stefan opened the door and Sarah walked in all covered in snow

“Sarah” Rachel called as she stood up to go hug her

“It seems it’s snowing pretty strongly outside” Stefan said

“James” Sarah called she walked towards me

“Am really sorry James, my Dad didn’t do that deliberately, he told me that Michael came to him and threatened to kill me if he didn’t do as he say, am really sorry James, I know how much that plan meant to you” Sarah said and I sighed

“It’s okay am fine now and I can always make another plan” I said managing to bring up the best version of smile that I could

“Woah, you smiled James, you smiled!” Rachel said smiling and I couldn’t help but smile too

“I’ve got to say this, a smiling face makes you look creepy James, just continuing keeping the emotionless” Stefan said and we all laughed

I looked at them as they all chatted and ate happily and I smiled
I guess there’s still some hope left for me

“Uhmm… Am I….. Am I interrupting?” Someone said and I turned back to see Michael

“The door what’s opened so I came in” he said

“What….” Rachel was saying but I motioned for her to stop

“Why are you here Michael? I think I made it clear the last time that I have nothing to do with you now” I said

“I came to ask you a question” he said

“Then ask and get going, am not comfortable with seeing your face anymore”

“You hate me now don’t you?” He asked

“Of course I hate you, do you think I was going to continue loving you after what you did? You’ve done alot of things to me but I endured because I knew you were in pain and you were just lashing out your anger at me but then you crossed the limit Michael, you ruined my chance of getting justice for Andrea and that is something I cannot endure!!!” I yelled

“Then you should have told me!!” He yelled back “You should’ve told me that you never abandoned me, you should have told me that you called Rachel to save me that night, you shouldn’t have let me hate you, you shouldn’t have let me misunderstood!”

“What? How did you…. How did you know that?” I asked surprised

“So it’s true, it’s really true” Michael said sadly and I turned to look at Rachel

“You told him didn’t you? You promised to keep it a secret!!” I yelled

“Am sorry okay, I just couldn’t help it, I was so angry at him for what he did to you that I said it without knowing” she said

“Why did you? Why did you keep it a secret from me?” Michael asked

“Because I needed to you to hate me, if you weren’t angry with me back then, then you’ll have never let me pack out of the house, I was so weak back then and I knew seeing your teary face would totally make me go back on my decision of leaving. You already misunderstood so I thought it was for the best since I can’t leave the house with you and I couldn’t stay in the house with you either, so it was better for you to hate me than for me to leave you with the pain of missing an elder brother you still loved”

“James…” He called with tears in his eyes

“But this doesn’t change anything now Michael, I hate you and that’s it, there’s no going back and there’s no forgiving of what you did to me!!”

“You are right” he sniffed “There’s no going back is there? I have no right to ask for your forgiveness so instead I’ll tell you this, Julia never betrayed and I actually never planned anything with Julia”

“What?”

“Remember back then when you guys kissed in school? I never planned that with Julia, I just happened to see you both and I took the pictures, I wanted to make you feel how it is to be betrayed so I met Julia and threatened her with her parents live but yet she didn’t concede, as you very well know, she’s really arrogant so I organized some people to beat up her father when he was coming back from work and that was how she finally agreed to working with me and spying on you for me and I also made her give you the impression that she did it for money”

“What?!” I said surprised “How could you….”

“I know what I did was horrible and forgiveness can’t be given but I’ll just end it with this, there was no day that passed by that Julia won’t beg me to change my mind and not ruin your plan, it was never her fault, all she did was love you” Michael and I quickly rushed to take my phone

I called and called but she didn’t pick up

“She’s not picking up? Why is she not picking up!!!” I yelled

“James calm down” Rachel said as she held my hand but I jerked her hand off

“I yelled at her, she came here today and I didn’t even let her speak and threw her out in the cold” I said sadly as I tried calling her again but she didn’t pick up
Then I decided to call her friend, Linda

🗨️ “Mr James…”

“Where’s Julia? She’s not picking up her phone”

🗨️ “I don’t know Sir, we’ve been looking for her since yesterday, that’s why I called this morning, to ask if you know where she is but you didn’t pick up”

“She’s…. She’s not at home?”

🗨️ “No sir, no one knows where she is, her parents are worried sick about her, it’s snowing so hard and she’s out there all alone, I just hope….”

I quickly ended the call and picked my jacket

Rachel held me back
“Where do you think you are going when it’s snowing so badly?”

“Am going to find Julia” I replied

“Didn’t you see the weather forecast James, it’s dangerous to be outside now!” Rachel said

“That’s exactly why I need to go find her!! Don’t you understand ? She’s out in the cold all alone and it’s because of me”

“Then what about me!!!” Rachel yelled “You think she’s suffering because of you then what about me?!! I’ve always been by your side since childhood, I’ve supported in many ways, I’ve done alot of things for you, I didn’t care about myself and stayed by your side yet you’ve never once looked at me with love!” Rachel said

“I never asked you stay by my side!!”

“What?”

“I never asked you to go all those lengths for me when you very well know that I can never love you” I said

“You can never love me? You can never love me but you can love Julia?”

“Rachel stop” Michael said as he held her hand but Rachel forcefully jerked her hand away

“Let me be!” She yelled at Michael and faced me

“I was actually feeling bad yesterday when she came and I yelled at her and drove her away, but I don’t feel that bad anymore, she totally deserved it”

“What did you say you did?” I asked as I could feel the anger rising up in me

“You heard me right James. You always say you love Andrea, you can’t get over Andrea but here you are dancing to Julia’s tune and poor Andrea died for nothing….”

“Enough!!” I yelled as I took a wine glass and broke it on the floor
Michael quickly shielded Rachel to prevent the shattered pieces from cutting her

“I don’t want to ever see you again” I said as I began to walk out
She tried to stop me again but Michael held her back

“I said let me be!!” She yelled pushing Michael to the floor

“Don’t go James” she said as she held my hand

I looked back at her with anger and jerked off her hand

“Don’t make me hate you Rachel” I said and I walked away

I ran into the snowy road and I could barely see anything
I could feel my whole body already freezing even with my thick clothing

Where could she be in this freezing weather
Please be alright, please

“Julia!!” I yelled as I ran around looking for her
