The story of love is hello and goodbye. Everything that has a beginning has an end. The question is; when does it end? Some probably ends in the grave.

Continuous chirping of crickets reminded Obiageri that the darkness wasn’t far from her unexpected visitors. But the three teenagers couldn’t read the meaning of the chirps because they had been carried away by their emotions. Raina had not let go of Crucifix while Margret’s jealousy increased as she stood beside Obiageri who seated silently on the bench.

What would become of this three teenagers? Would their story be happily ever after or tragically ever after? Even I, the writer cannot tell because Raina’s love for Crucifix equals Crucifix’ love for Margret. Oh, how can such issue be resolved? Probably, the love would end in the grave. But I don’t think Raina wanted that. However, through Crucifix’ shoulder, she saw Margret restless, jealous and breathing heavily. That was too much for just a hug. So she disengaged from Crucifix, staring directly into his eyes.

“Are you okay?” she asked him.

Crucifix nodded his head. Oh, the poor boy didn’t know how to react, what to say or how to explain the feeling of the moment with two girls which he was deeply in love with only one of them. Sadly, one loved him the same way. Nevertheless, he found his voice. ” How did you know I was here?”

“Papa Geb told me.” Raina smiled at him. That was one think the girl never failed to do; she smiles even at the point of death. She bypassed Crucifix and walked to Obiageri and Margret. “Hi, Margret.” She said with a smile.

“Hi, Raina.” Margret replied.

Raina picked up Obiageri’s hand and k-sed it. “You must be Mama Obiageri. Papa Geb sent his regards.” she said.

“Thank you, my daughter.” Obiageri replied, staring at the girl who had gone back to Crucifix.

Raina held his hand and looked into his eyes again. “I can go now I know you’re okay and in good hands” she glanced at Margret. “Also, i came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible, but I think it’s just an illusion. Bye Crucifix.” she began to walk away.

Damn! Those were mature words she used for someone at her age. Even Obiageri became stunned at them. Meanwhile, Crucifix never let go of her hand until it gradually disengaged.

“Raina, it’s late to go back.” The poor boy found his voice once more.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.” she replied sadly. Ah, what a heartbreak? As the girl was walking out of the place, she began to shed tears seriously, knowing that she had no place in Crucifix’ life or heart. Moreover, she never wanted to come between him and Margret. It was a painful decision she had to make because you can’t tell me someone who took some clothes to Achara for sleepover made up her mind to return back to DeMar same day. None of the three person’s behind her averted eyes from her. They kept staring at her until she went out of sight…

On the other hand, it was pass eight in the night and Mrs. Nelson hadn’t seen or heard from her daughter. One could see her, coming out from her room in a bogus trouser. On her head was a hair-net. She dragged her feet to Raina’s room, knocked on the door severally without answer. “Raina?” she called, yet, no response before she opened the door. Bemused, it was void of her daughter. No, she couldn’t believe it so she began to dial her cell line. When the phone started ringing, she saw a note on a table. Cautiously, she brought down the phone from her ear and read the note thus: I’M SORRY FOR THE DECISION I’VE MADE. I MIGHT BE BACK TOMORROW..

Quickly, the mother dialed her number again and she picked. “Raina, where are you?”

“On the road, coming back, mum.” she replied on the phone.

“From where?”

“I’m sorry, mum. I’ll be home in one hour’s time.” the line went off.

Mrs Nelson glanced at her wrestwatch: pass nine o’clock. The woman became totally woozy without knowing what to do. The husband wasn’t home yet. She wanted to call him, but paused for some seconds thinking critically. Quickly, she ran downstairs, pacing from one end of a cushion to another. Her eyes Never departed from a wall clock.

After an hour later, the door of the living room opened. Her husband entered with a briefcase and a suit that hung on his arm.

“Welcome, dear.” she collected the briefcase and suit from him.

“Call Raina to go bring some of the things I left in the car trunk.” The man sounded exhausted.

“Okay.”

“Call her now.” He instructed and collapsed on the cushion.

“Horny, she’s sleeping.” the wife lied.

Mr. Nelson glanced at the wall clock then kept quiet. Just as the wife climbed the staircase, the door of the living room opened again. Mrs. Nelson turned, lo and behold her daughter, walking in with a bag. She looked rough and hopeless.

Mr. Nelson glanced at his wife. “I thought you said she was sleeping.”

“I wasn’t sure.” the wife replied.

“I went to bring my clothes from my tailor.” Raina grabbed the joke.

“Oh, I can remember!” the mother supported her.

“By this time?” the father glanced at the wall clock again.

“I had to get them tonight because we’re using it at school tomorrow.” Raina was still lying.

“But tomorrow is Saturday.”

Hearing that, both the mother and her daughter went dumb. They didn’t know what to say again. But Mrs Nelson needed to say something otherwise the roof would start burning. “Raina, take those clothes in,side. Horny, what would you like to eat?” She changed the topic as Raina ran-passed her on the staircase. When she got to her room, first, she refused Crucifix’ painting of the gown from her wall.

However, Mr. Nelson never replied his wife. He could be seen unknotting his tie silently. Nobody knew his mind..

Back to Achara, Obiageri had slept leaving the two lovers outside. The crickets had increased in number thereby increasing their chirping sound. One could see Margret seated beside Crucifix with her head resting on his shoulder. Both were on night wears. The moonlight made the arena visible enough to see their faces.

“It’s obvious she’s in love with you.” Margret broke the silence.

“Raina?” Crucifix said then both became quiet. “I hope she gets home safely.” he added.

“She will.” Margret supported. Suddenly, Crucifix began to chuckle. She raised her head from his shoulder and looked at him. “What’s so amusing?” she asked him.

“Nothing serious. Just that I can’t believe this moment. The first day I saw you at the restaurant, I saw my future in you, but you suddenly became sad. I read your mind to discover you were missing your biological parents.” he replied.

“Then you wrote the letter and kept for me, to encourage me.” she crossed her hand on his arms.

“Yes. I waited for the day I’ll open up to you. Registering at Kenny High became the only solution.”

Margret smiled as she stared at his l-ips.

“You set the fire in me, Margret.” he continued. “I wish it doesn’t stop burning. You’re my complete, my heart and my breath. I love you so much. I wish i wasn’t expelled.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll talk to the principal. You’re coming back to Kenny High very soon” Margret assured him.

“Then will you grab the cup of coffee with me?”

Margret smiled. “It will be my pleasure. And I won’t let you down on the debate. We must win.”

Both stared at each other, smiling happily. At once, they k-sed! The locking of their l-ips reflected on the moonlight. Therefore, one could see Margret car–sing his cheek as the r-mantic and passionate k-s lingered.

Wow! Crucifix thought he was dreaming! No, it was a reality but not dreams come true until he never thinks of getting the ribbon of his ancestors….
