Chapter 9

“What’s going on Tae? What’s wrong with you? Arrgh. ” I said to my self and sat down on a couch.

Ara’s pov

I got to the cl@ss, and sat down quietly. A teacher entered and began teaching us.

“Ara, are you alright? ” Binnie asked.

“Yes.. Yes am.. Fine ” I stuttered.

She nodded and faced the teacher.

My b©dy feels somehow, what’s wrong with me?

Why do I feel different when I face Tae, he even t©uçhed my hair and re-moved the hair band.

Saying I look good leaving the hair without packing it.

I smiled but it disappeared so soon. Gosh!

Why am I even smiling?

Soo Bin’s pov

Leaving Ara with Tae isn’t a bad idea, but I don’t want his trouble.

And I don’t think that’s a problem cause she’s just smiling all along.

Did he k!ssher? Hell no! I know Ara can’t even let him t©uçh her not to talk of k!ss!ngher.

Thank God he didn’t suspend us. My mom is gonna s£nd me out of the house.

I just pray my mom haven’t see the video yet. God plea-se.

I got to the park with Ara, and drove out of the school.

“I can’t believe someone paid my camp fee, I wish to know the person to show my gratitude ” I said, when I remembered what happened in the cl@ss today.

I was shocked when I heard my name, the teacher had listed out the whole names for those who have paid.

“Really, am sure you will meet the person one day. ” She answered.

“Yes, how did you pay yours? ”

“My dad gave me the money, that’s all ”

“Hmm… Your dad must have really work h@rd to get that money ”

“Yeah, Binnie I would like to tell you something but you have to keep it secret ”

“Secret? Of course I will keep it secret ” I answered, curiously waiting for her to say something.

“I will tell you tomorrow ”

“Okay ” She got to my house and stooped.

“I would like to see your parents. Will you? ” She asked and I gulped.

“Of course, but my dad isn’t here ”

“Ohh! Okay ”

She c@m£ down from the scooter and walked into the house.

“Mom! ” I called.

“Soo bin come….. ” she st©pped when she saw Ara.

Her eyes glittered. “Ara? Oh my God! Is this you? You’ve grown so big. ” She replied and turned to hvg her.

“Wow! Mrs Choi, Long time. Where have you been? ” Ara asked.

I was just standing like a statue.

Where did my mom met Ara.

Ara’s pov

Mrs Choi had been a very good mother to me. She and my mom were friends.

One day, we heard her husband had taken all her properties and ran away with it.

Since then, we didn’t see her. Her daughter which happens to be Soo bin now was in London then.

I haven’t seen her before neither have I seen her picture. So I couldn’t recognize her.

Mrs Choi is the second riche-st person in the whole country after my dad.

What a coincidence!

“Mom, what’s going on here? You guys are confusing me ”

Binnie asked, looking confused.

“Binnie, it high time you know who I am now. The secret I wanted to tell you tomorrow, am gonna say it here ”

“Okay, am eagerly waiting ”

“Fine, am the Kim’s daughter” I explained.

“Kim’s daughter? wait! You mean Mr Kim….” Her voice was shaky.

“Soo Bin calm down, yes she is. She’s Mrs Kim’s daughter. The one I do talk about when you are in London ”

“Oh my goodness! Ara! You never seem to amaze me. And you pretend like you’re poor ”

“Yeah, but don’t worry about that. I know why I acted that way. ” I replied.

“How’s your dad and mom Ara? ” Mrs Choi asked.

“They are doing well ma. ” I answered.

“And MI ho? ”

“He’s doing good too. I nee-d to be on my way now, my mom will be expecting me ” I said, and took my leave.

Binnie esc-rted me out, “Ara, you’re such a crazy girl. You know that ” Soo bin said, smiling.

“Maybe, there’s one secret I gotta tell you again ”

“You really love having secrets, so tell me ”

“I was the one who paid for your camp fee ”

She g@sped, as tears gathered in her eyes.

“I don’t know what to say, thank you Ara ” She said, thankfully.

“No nee-d, I nee-d to be going now. Bye and see you in school tomorrow ” I got on my scooter and drove down the street.

I nee-d to tell mom, I saw Mrs Choi.

I glanced at the uncompleted building again and smiled. Why am I so engrossed in this building?

At home…..

I got in,side and saw the new maid dad brou-ght in. She’s really a h@rdworking woman.

“Good afternoon, my lady ” She greeted, and was trying to collect my school bag but I declined.

“Don’t worry, plea-se is there any food at home? I feel hungry ” I asked.

“Oh! The sitting room? Have cleaned it this morning. ” She answered and I stared at her.

Is she okay? Perhaps she didn’t heard what I said just now.

“I mean food… I want to eat. Is there any at home? ” I asked again.

“Okay, I will go cut the pepper now. Should I add cabbage? Or you don’t like cabbage? ”

Huh? Someone plea-se help me!

What dad said is true. She has ear problem.

“Don’t worry, am coming downstairs soon ” I said and walked upstairs.

This woman is…… don’t even know what to say.

Fast forward….

I walked down stairs, then to the kitchen to prepare something for my self.

I didn’t see any maids around.

Soon, I cooked ramen noodles and chicken and began eating.

Mom walked in with my brother looking…. Their face was expressionless.

“Ara, Who was the woman that almost killed you for me? ” My mom asked.

She must have watched the video.

“She’s the mother to Young hee, the girl I cut his hair ” I explained.

“And she wanted to kill you for that? Though what you did was quite crazy.

And Tae didn’t even think twice before suspending the two of them. That boy!”

” Well, mom let leave that aside. I saw Mrs Choi today and her daughter ”

“What?! You saw her? Where? How did you guys meet? Take me there now ” My mom said, looking like she was panicking.

“Mom, calm down. I will take you there on Saturday. ”

“I can’t wait to meet her, it been a long time have seen her. Mr Choi really did a bad thing to her ”

“Mom am hungry! ” MI ho said and ran to the dinning, and ate my ramen.

“Hey! That’s mine! ”

He stuck his ton-gue out and ran to his room with the food.

Tae’s pov

“We are going to have two contests in the camp. Music contest and dancing contest.” I said looking my brothers one by one.

“Then we will choose the music queen and king, then the dancing queen and king. Do you get that? ” I added.

“Wow! That sounds good. Is it between the juniors or the s£niors? ” Rhee asked.

“It going to be among the s£niors. Final grade students. ” I answered.

“So are you contesting Seo? ”

“Nope, am not ” He answered.

“I guess, I will contest then ” I said.

“I wish I was in s£nior cl@ss ” Jae replied, looking sad.

“Same here ” Rhee answered too.

I smiled and stood up “That’s all for now, we are going to discuss tomorrow ” I said and walked in to go take a nap.

Soo Bin’s pov

“Am sure Ara would have tell her mom she saw me ” My mom said, as she took her drugs.

“Yeah, I would be going to the camp too. She paid my camp fee ”

“oh my gosh! That’s so sweet of her. God bless her for me ”

“Amen ”

Her phone beeped and my heart skipped. Hope is not the video?

Her eyes were glued to the phone. “It a message from the grocery store.

My salary has been paid ” She spoke and smiled at the phone.

I felt relieved, I pray she didn’t see the video.

We heard a knock from the door, I stood up to go opened the door. It was our parrot neighbour Mrs Lee.

“Mrs Choi, have you seen this videos ?Your daughter is darm crazy Aigoo! ”

“Let me see it” My mom collected the phone and pla-yed the first video.

It was when Ara and I was cutting those witches hair, my mother g@sped.

“Soo Bin! Don’t tell me you did this? And even Ara too? ”

She watched the second video and eventually faced me.

Mummy!!! plea-se don’t beat me!!

I gave her “Am-sorry- mom ” look.

Oh Mrs Lee has put me in trouble, if only she didn’t show my mom the videos.

“Mom, am sorry ” I apologized.

“Sorry? You are lucky they didn’t suspend you.

I would have beat the hell out of you. Now get in,side! No supper tonight! “She fired and I flin-ched.

I ran to my room looking moody, I gotta teach Mrs Lee a lesson.

I sm-irked and l@ymy back on the be-d. No supper 😭

Next morning.. 🕖

I got to school with Ara, did about four subjects, had our break and went back to cl@ss to do more subjects and now it closing time.

I was happy no one looked for my trouble. The school was fun today maybe it because the rude queen and her friend aren’t here.

I got home and met my mom glaring at me, “No lunch for you ” She said and I left my mouth opened.

What?! First, I didn’t eat supper yesterday but I got the chance to eat breakfast and now no lunch.

Oh my God!

I dropped my bag on the be-d, changed into something simple and walked out of the house.

For revenge 😏

Ara’s pov

I met the new maid coming out of the kitchen, she’s just a weird woman.

“Good afternoon my lady ” She greeted and I nodded.

“Good afternoon. ” I answered back.

“Oh, my children and husband are doing well ”

I didn’t ask of her family 🤷.

I smiled and turned to go to my room. “Your food is re-ady, you can come downstairs to eat ” She said and all I did was nod.

I just pray dad come back so quic-k from his business trip.

I showered, and wore a red tank t©p and jean trou-ser then walk downstairs to eat.

The new woman served me, and I began eating. I pray she didn’t say anything till am done.

Thankfully she didn’t.

Fast forward……

Days and weeks rolled by, and soon it was time for the 4days camp.

Young hee and Yoo nah had come back to school but surprisingly, they didn’t look for my trouble.

Their bald hair were covered with wigs, I couldn’t tell if their hair is growing back.

“Am gonna miss you Ara ” My mom said, hvgging me ti-ghtly.

“Mom, you’re about to kill me ” I said.

The hvgging is too ti-ght.

“Huh? Oh sorry. I just feel emotional. ”

“Don’t worry, besides am not the only going. Binnie is there and other students ” I explained.

Mom had gone to see Mrs Choi, she was surprised to see her condition.

She decided to give her one of the shopping malls she owned for her to manage till she get her property back.

“Just be careful okay? And don’t cause any trouble ” My dad cautioned and I nodded.

“I won’t, I nee-d to be going now. Am running late ” I k!$$£d them good bye.

Mi Ho had gone to school alre-ady.

At school…. 🏫

I took a cab to school, I had told Binnie to wait for me in school cause there’s no nee-d to take my scooter along.

Almost all the students in the school are going for this camp.

I heard my name and saw Soo Bin waving at me.

I dragged luggage containing the few clothes I’d be wearing for 4 days along to meet my friend.

” Are you re-ady for this camp?” she asked, giggling.

“Of course, I can’t wait to get to Japan ” I answered.

“Thanks for paying my fee, I would have stayed at home if you hadn’t paid it ”

“It nothing, am coming I nee-d to use the restroom ” I left my bag beside hers.

The buses had arrived but the students haven’t entered yet.

I got to the female restroom and glanced at the mirror. I washed my face and did my hair again into a ti-ght ponytail.

I cleaned my face with my handkerchief and c@m£ out. I walked throu-gh the hallway and st©pped when I heard crying.

Who could be crying like this?

I traced it and saw a girl sitting on the floor, her head was buried in her palm.

What’s she doing here?

Why’s she crying? Questions filled my mind.

“Hi, what are you doing here? ” Trying not to sound harsh.

She raised her head up to see me. ” plea-se, leave me alone. ” she yelled.

“Am sorry, but can I know what’s wrong with you? ” I asked, looking worried.

Instead she cried the more, ” My money was stolen from my bag. “She answered, lowly.

“what?! Your money? How? How much? ” I asked.

“It my camp fee, I should have gone straight to the principal’s office to pay yesterday but I couldn’t find it in my bag. ”

“Why do you have to put that hvge amount of money in your bag? Gosh! This is serious! So why did you stay here? ”

“I can’t go home, my father is going to kill me if he hears about it ” She sniffed.

I felt pity for her immediately, “Come, let’s go to the principal’s office to say something about this ” I replied, trying to pu-ll her up.

“No, he won’t do anything about it ”

“Okay, I know what to do. Just follow me ”

We got to the principal’s office and knocked on the door.

It opened and we entered. “Why aren’t you outside? The students will be going into the bus and it gonna move soon ” He muttered, adjusting his gl@ss properly.

“Sir, Her money got lost in the cl@ss. Her camp fee ”

“So? How is that my business? Why did she has to keep the money into her bag or come straight to the office to pay before it stolen ” He shouted.

“Well, that’s not why we are here. I c@m£ to pay for her camp fee ” I answered and he glanced at me in amazement.

“s£nior Ara, are you sure of what you were saying? You want to pay for my camp fee? ” The girl asked and I nodded.

“Yes, sir can you give me the account number? ”

“Yeah.. Yeah… That’s it ” He stuttered pointing to a note on the table.

I took it and brou-ght out my phone. I s£nt the money fast into the school account in the girl’s name

“Let’s go now, the bus will be moving soon ” I said, and stood up with her.

The principal’s gaze didn’t leave my b©dy till I was out of the office.

I met Tae at the door and my heart skipped.

“Good morning ” I greeted and didn’t wait for him to answer.

“Thanks so much s£nior. I had plan to stay in a h0tel for 4days till you guys are back then I can go home.

Dad will think I went with you guys to Japan ” She said, and I looked at her.

“Well now, you are going with us. So where’s your luggage? ” I asked.

“Ohh. It outside my cl@ss. Let’s go take it ”

She took her bag and we walked outside.

“Ara, where have you been? I almost set out to look for you ”

“I decided to help someone ” I pointed to the girl and explained everything to her.

“Oh! Next time don’t keep such money into your bag.

Thank God Ara paid your fee “Binnie said and the teachers starts ordering the students into the bus.

I, Binnie and the girl sat beside each other and soon the bus moved down the road.

1 hour later…

We got to the airport and c@m£ down from the bus. Immediately, we were led to where the airplane was.

We entered the plane and sat down close to each other.

The plane was filled with students, gisting and laughing.

I smiled and soon I sle-pt off.

3 hours later……

“Ara, wake up we are here” I felt someone tap me.

I opened my eyes lazily, and saw the students coming down from the plane.

“Wow! Japan is so beautiful! ” I exclaimed.

“Yeah, let’s get down ” Soo bin said, and I stood up.

I got down and admired every where first. It really beautiful in Japan.

“Now gather everyone ” A teacher said and we did.

“You all know we are having a 4 days camp here in Japan.

Tomorrow, we will be having a music and dance contest and we will be choosing the music queen and king among the s£niors.

And the dance queen and king among the s£niors too. So whosoever that wants to contest should come to me later ” He announced.

I would love to contest for the music queen and not for that only, I love singing and it’d be good if I show my talent.

Either I win or not, it means nothing to me. This is an opportunity for me to sing.

“The four winners will be going to London to contest with other countries. ” He st©pped when one of the teachers said something into his ear.

“Okay, I will st©p here now. Let’s go to the camp ” He answered and we followed him.

Is Tae coming too?

Why am I even asking? It none of my business.

Young hee’s pov

I took my phone out and dialled a number.

And it was picked “Now I want you to do a clean job for me with no trace. Huh? Don’t disappoint me ” I warned.

“I won’t trust me ” He @ssured and I hung up on him.

Ara and Soo bin will pay for what they did.

I sm-irked and followed the rest of the students in.
